Old Town in Zürich

The food was really good. However, you have to dig a little more into your pocket and pay accordingly. A small greeting from the kitchen with sauces and bread was brought in advance. As a starter there was baked sheep's cheese and a curry soup. The cheese was interestingly prepared and served on a salad (positive). The soup was a bit bland, but OK. The main course was a 350g rib-eye steak served on a hot stone. The meat was of good quality and the accompanying sauces were ok. When it came to service, you had the feeling that the lady didn't fit in with the restaurant. She seemed unsure and, for example, completely cleared the table even though we were still sitting there and there was a little water in the bottle. However, she was very nice and communicative.

I had dinner there on Saturday with my husband... Well there weren't many guests, which was very good for us. The staff is a disaster... You are served by 3 different people... every 3 minutes you were asked if everything was okay because they Otherwise they had no work and were standing in front of the entrance door... no ambience, nothing... not even music. I then asked why there was no music, the waiter replied that the boss had said that football had to be on... and sorry if I go to a steakhouse and eat meat there for over 100fr. then you want to hear music in the background and not football where no one was watching except the staff!!! In addition, my husband was still eating fries and they came back and asked if we were ready. We couldn't even enjoy the expensive meal in peace! Went away again after a short time. It's a shame and there are some bad reviews from months ago and as you can see nothing has changed! No interest there!

The staff was really nice, the service was impeccable. They were so quick that i thought they were Buzz Lightyear working in a restaurant. The food was excellent and the prices are correct. If I want a fancy dinner by myself or with a friend, I would definitely come back here.

We love steak and ordered some Swiss Steaks ! The Salmon was great too with crave worthy rosemary potatoes. Every side dish was amazing. My son is a steak snob and loved this place. Service was outstanding.

It's close to the central station, so you can find it right away by looking at the map. The room is well-lit and clean, and the room has a table for four, a refrigerator, and a sink. The toilet and shower facilities were outside the room, but it was not inconvenient to use them at all. There was also a small, but elevator, so I took it to the 5th floor. There is a communal kitchen and a large table on the second floor, so you can eat freely, and it was great to have bread, milk, and cereal provided in the morning. Free breakfast in expensive Switzerland is a treat. I love coffee, and coffee, tea, and cocoa are available all day long. It was great to be prepared. And, the bedding was softer than at home, so I had a good night's sleep. The location of the accommodation is better than you can imagine. The entire location was the best as it was hard to get better..👍👍

I was there with my girlfriend who had her birthday. My wish was that we would get the table on the upper floor and that was the case. We were greeted warmly and our waitress was very friendly. We ordered beef fillet on a hot stone. The meat was super fine. First we ordered salad, then the fillet and tiramisu for dessert and the staff put a candle in the dessert and even sang a birthday song. It was perfect. When we paid we were given two limoncellos for free. It was a lovely evening and we will definitely be back. Highly recommended. Thanks.

Yesterday we went to the Old Town Steakhouse for the first time. The service was very friendly and attentive and we also received very good advice. Eat; Salad of beef fillet on the Heissenstein grilled vegetables was very fine and the dessert Tiramisu with decoration was also very fine. At the end we got a lemonade from the house. I will definitely visit the steak house again

Had to wait 70 minutes (!) for our food. The problem was a technical error at the checkout, which can absolutely happen. When we finally received the food, there was no apology and no explanation, only after we asked and complained. We then received free limoncellos (how generous). When we only gave 7Fr (from 323Fr to 330Fr.), we weren't even wished a nice evening anymore. The waiter seemed visibly offended. What do you expect when you have to wait 70 minutes for your food and then don't even get a proper apology/explanation? That's not how you treat customers... There are two stars because the food tasted really good.

We tried a few steak houses, which all were booked out. Ended up here, as this was the only one with a spare table, and the steak was excellent for the price. We had ribeye. Steaks are served on a hot stone, so you can cook them to your liking.

The maitre d', a man of about 45 years old, is not qualified to work in this job. Serious, dry, unfriendly and very unfriendly. They have made us want to get up and leave when ordering the drinks; unable to recommend a wine. How cool that people with so little passion dedicate themselves to this job. Plus the smoke there is amazing. If they want to make stone-grilled meats, they should have proper extraction. We came out smoked.

We were staying at a hotel nearby and wanted to grab something to eat. The restaurant at the beginning of Niederdorf appealed to us immediately and we weren't disappointed! The food was amazing, we didn't expect it, we enjoyed it so much that we went back that evening. Also worth mentioning is the super friendly waiter who is always up for a joke 👍 We are often in Zurich and if it's at all possible, we love going to the steakhouse here, it's just really nice here and the food is great, I can only recommend it 👌

Food was great but service 👎 the way he treat us is horrible I don't know if they are very tired or not! I visited on the last day of a week-long trip to Switzerland. I didn't make a reservation, but they were very kind to let me in. I'm not good at English, so I took my time using a translator to look at the menu, but I had to wait for that too😊There are many types of meat, and you can grill it yourself. Meat served on a hot stone to continue cooking, even though the meat was only seared on the sides, quite long waiting times, one friendly waiter, the other very uncourteous, they are constantly in a hurry, if they could they would take away your plates even before finishing dinner. When paying the bill the waiter asks for a tip for the service (which is terrible), initially we didn't understand, the waiter replies "it will be for next time" in a very rude way and as if the price of the dinner wasn't already enough high. They serve good meat in many other places, without attention to customers it is useless to be a restaurateur. I don't recommend it for eating.

Near the river, in the center of the old city, the restaurant is upscale and specializes in steak and meat. The staff are friendly, the prices are high, the seating is tidy, and the atmosphere is comfortable.

Service staff was stressed. Part of the order was forgotten. Meat was very tough and fish was overcooked (instead of the "medium" ordered, it was served one level more than "well done", namely "dry"). The high prices do not match the quality delivered.

It wasn't particularly delicious. It may be unusual to have beef from a place you don't often see in Japan (Iran?), but if you're going to pay the same price, I think it's better to eat it in Japan, even with the difference in prices. The steak was served with only the outside lightly cooked, and was it a hot rock? It was a method to adjust the doneness to your preference. As for payment method, I was able to use American Express credit card.

It was good meat with above-average quality. The price is accordingly a bit expensive.

2023.9.29 Since it was Meat Day, I wanted to eat some delicious meat, so I took a walk around Old Town. I was curious about Hot Stone Steak, so I decided to have lunch at this restaurant. It was very pleasant to eat on the terrace while looking at the cityscape. The staff seemed to be hit or miss when I read the reviews, but the person in charge this time was very friendly and kind enough to take photos for me. After enjoying tuna as an appetizer and wasabi for the first time in a while, I took the plunge and had a chateaubriand from Switzerland. The meat was very tender and the filling was perfect. The order is for two people, but the fries that came with the dish were crunchy and easy to eat, and the broccoli risotto (no rice) was hearty and difficult to finish for those who don't like rice, but it was delicious. Although it is expensive, it was a very satisfying and elegant time. I would definitely like to go eat there again.

At lunchtime we waited 40 minutes for the food - and also for the lunch menu. Finally, the flesh was a shoe sole. Good tip: If you want a piece of good meat, don't come here. Made the mistake.

Last Friday, September 29th, 2023, I was in this restaurant with a colleague in the evening. Right from the start there were problems with the waiter (Ciprian), who served us extremely unfriendly. He didn't like the fact that we had chosen a specific table. He also didn't want to bring us the side dishes we wanted. I have never experienced such arrogant and unfriendly behavior in a restaurant. This kind of service can only harm the restaurant.

Nice little hotel in the heart of the Old Town in Zürich where there are lots of restaurants and shops, and it is also only a short walk from Zürich central station and tram stops. It sits above a restaurant of the same name. Recommended for couples only as the rooms are very small. The Highlights: - the rooms are very clean upon check in, and despite being small, has the basic necessities: bed, air conditioning, mini fridge, kettle, Closet, TV, hot water, towels, etc. It's also non-smoking which is really appreciated, considering how much people seem to smoke here in Zürich. - Another highlight is that it has a lift (elevator) that fits 4 people with no luggage, or 2 people with 2 suitcases - The continental breakfast included in the room has two kinds of bread, two kinds of cold cuts, some fruit, jams, three kinds of cheeses, juices, coffee and tea - enough to fuel up for the morning until lunch time. -Although the hotel is in the heart of the Old Town with bars and restaurants right below it, the sound proofing of the windows is pretty good as we couldn't hear the outside world once we've shut them properly. What can be improved: - Customer service leaves much to be desired. The people serving in the morning don't seem to want to host people at all as he didn't want to interact with any guest, save to serve us coffee or tea. This is observed both days we had breakfast there. - Our room also wasn't cleaned. Not sure what the custom here in Switzerland is, but when we returned to our room after our second day, we found that our bed wasn't turned over, the dirty towel on the floor was hung up against the towels we wanted to reuse, the complimentary drinking water was not replaced. The only things done were opening the window to let air in and the trash had been taken out. If not for those, we wouldn't have known someone was in our room. - The pillows were very flat and if you folded them, they would stay folded (which means they are expired and should be replaced). This is minor if it doesn't bother you, or course. - as mentioned, the room is very small so be mindful of that if you are planning to bring large suitcases for your trip as there's little room to place them in. Overall, I would only recommend this hotel for staying in Zürich for its location and value for money and not for any other reason.

Not recommended! The service was a disaster... We could barely place the order before they turned their backs on us. When we wanted to order our food, he hardly let us finish. Since I wanted to explain to him that I had an allergy, he kept contradicting me. In the end I didn't feel like arguing with him and left the restaurant.

Excellent steaks. The feta cheese appetizer was delicious. My sirloin steak was absolutely perfect (medium rare) and my friend’s Swiss dry rub received excellent reviews. The salmon fettuccine was nearly excellent.

Food tasted fine, staff was very rude. The plate was not yet empty or it was already taken away, including cutlery, while the rest had not yet finished eating. You were, as it were, pushed away from the terrace. During payment we were asked several times to leave a tip, but of course we did not do this.

We went to the restaurant for dinner and it was a good steak. It was however no 400 gram in a thousand years (I only eat meat and weigh my Ribeyes every day). Service was rushed even though the terrace was almost empty. When we wanted to pay the man asked for a tip because "he needed cocaine". Weird way of asking for a tip. Also he was rude and when leaving he just said: "had a nice life". Good food, really bad experience.

The place is nice and the meat was delicious, unfortunately the waiter we had ruined the diner. He was really arrogant, impolite and we wasn’t feeling welcome at all at these place. Even when we paid, he didn't even say thank you or bid us farewell, the food can be tasty but with deplorable treatment from the waiter it's not worth going, I don't recommend this place at all.

Had dinner here, a quick steak late at night. The meat is average at best, and well overpriced. It’s a classic tourist trap. The waiter was incredibly offended and rude when I didn’t tip. Tried to sort of bulling me into reconsidering? Anyway, I recommend he changes attitude, job, or at least employer.

The rib-eye steak was half fat and had no flavor. The price on the menu is per 100g (CHF 22!), but you can't get anything under 300g, which sounds like an excuse to exploit.

Very bad service, food inedible, I think the chef is a cobbler by profession. A shame for us restaurateurs, we had a starter that was ok, and then 2 main courses of meat that were inedible.

I ordered a sirloin steak well done with a baked potato no sour cream but with butter. The meal came with the steak being seared on both sides but raw in the middle and I said this is not cooked to my liking he said you have to cook it yourself on the stone I said I'm paying you $50 for a steak and I have to cook it? The waiter ended up cooking it the rest of the way on the stone which took about half an hour. The baked potato did not come with any butter like I asked and no skin I like to eat the skin on my baked potato but there was none it looked like a piece of lasagna. In addition the steak was tough I did not believe it was a sirloin because it had gristle in it. I did have dessert apple pie ice cream and it was delicious. No I won't be back.

Randomly picked a steakhouse in tourists area, that we already have mentally prepared for any surprises, ordered a T bone on a heat rock, which is I don’t like this cooking, I think grill is the best cooking for steak. The meat is soso. No surprise of expensive dinning after the day one in Swiss.

Friendly staff who were attentive to the table without interfering with the conversation in the group. Atmosphere was very pleasant. In our opinion, the prices were justified given the fresh and tasty quality meat. We also had the feeling that we were in a clean and inexpensive restaurant. Unfortunately, this is not the case in all restaurants. (Mass processing of guests). We had a pleasant evening. Since the meat comes from a hot plate, you can easily regulate this yourself. However, the oil spattered due to the heat, which is why I had to put the restaurant napkin to good use for the first time.

The restaurant service and food were not good for the price. The servers were not nice and very impatient. Even though I was also staying there I was waiting to meet someone and they practically tried to get rid of me. I had to sit and was forced to order food to stay there which was outside even though there were lots of empty tables. They belittled me for visiting with my niece for what they thought was too long even though it was only about an hour. Will never eat here or stay here again. The room was big e good at all with a broken television and other problems including no soap.

The place looks welcoming, we went there as a couple to eat meat. I ordered a bottle of Schaffhausen red wine for 66.-. The waiter tried to pass me a bottle of low-end local red wine, which I tasted (trusting and thinking it was right) the wine was so small that I realized the scam and I asked to change the bottle. The meat (supposedly a Swiss Rib Eye Bone) was of poor quality... For 64.50 per person, with some tiny industrial sauces. The fries were good. I add that the prosecco drunk as an aperitif was bad. We will not return there.

!!People with allergies beware!! My friend had an allergic reaction to the food even though we explicitly explained to the staff that he couldn't eat nuts! When my colleague asked her about it, there was no apology. They just said that that couldn't be the case and, after a long discussion, called her a "smartass" several times. Insult a customer? This simply can't be! Unfortunately a very bad experience. Never come here again.

At the beginning we said that someone in our group had a nut allergy. He then had an allergic reaction and vomited. There was no apology. When I spoke to the manager and said that it must have had nuts in it, he told me no. Then he said that it had pesto on it. I asked about the packaging. He gave me a WASABI PACKAGING. He seriously wanted to tell me that wasabi=pesto?????!!!!!!!!!After I said it was negligent, he told me 3 times that I was a smartass?? He promised himself 10x whether there was peanut oil in the aisles or not. While paying he also said something in front of him and most likely insulted us. We also had to wait an hour before we could order. TLDR: Poor service, insulting customers, can't even apologize, committing negligent bodily harm

Amazing grill steakhouse in the center of zurich

As soon as we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted with a very warm hospitality. Also, we were showed to a table immediately even though we said we didn't book a table. All of the staff was very helpful, attentive, and friendly and big smiles on their faces. The staff was always asking if we needed anything or if everything was okay, which felt very nice. When we were trying to take pictures, one of the staff also came in to help without being asked when he saw us. We also didn't have to wait too long for the food. I had ostrich steak on a hot plate which was soooo juicy. Me likey very much🥰🥰. I also like how they have so many side dishes, including the risotto I chose. I also tried the rib eye hot plate steak which was very nice because we can choose the wellness of the steak😂 although we had to be very careful not to accidentally touch it (my dad did😅😅) . Then, I ended this meal with tiramisu with fresh fruits and my parents had ice cream (sour cream, passion fruit, walnut) Overall, I was very impressed this candle lit steak dinner ❤❤

Hello dear readers, I had dinner with my family in this delicious steak house today, I ate a fillet and it was really very good, I'm not a meat connoisseur, but it was really amazingly tasty!! I can definitely recommend stopping by there if you're in Zurich!

First of all on the second floor has no sufficient ventilation. We were sitting in a cloud of smoke. It took over 30 min to get the steaks. Which is a lot, considering they come rare and finish cooking to your liking on the hot stone. Hot stone was also way too hot so the steak started burning on the outside very fast. Food is ok but not amazing. So if you really want a steak i would go somewhere else

We went for a dinner and before going in I asked the person at the door if it was still open, which he answered of course, to make a short story the manager wanted to run serving us the food and he wanted us to eat in a hurry, the waiters were very kind but the manager or owner is disgusting person super rude and gave horrible service…. no wonder the place was empty it was a sign but i didn't see it i recommend you don't go to this place unless if you want to be treated badly

The service is very helpful and competent. The only thing I had to complain about was the schnitzel. A little too chewy for me. As it is in Zurich, you should have enough in your wallet.

The dry-aged T-bone steak was definitely one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. The presentation is also excellent, the side dishes are great. It is important to mention that many of the steaks are only seared on both sides and served on the hot stone. If you like that, perfect - although you should only fry the dry-aged very briefly, as they are already very edible in the rare to medium-rare range. In general, the quality of the meat is excellent and you can even choose your favorite piece of meat from the fridge if necessary. The service is (unfortunately) not looking quite so good anymore... We as a larger group with a reservation: Fortunately, we had the whole upper floor to ourselves - but we were allowed to put the tables and chairs together ourselves and collect the place settings from the other tables . (It was known how many people were coming...) Sometimes the wrong dishes came, sometimes dishes came that no one had ordered, drinks were forgotten, etc. We didn't have these problems with smaller groups - so definitely try it out!

Hey guys really now? You serve 3 sauces with the meat. 1. Sauce was herb butter, as the name suggests butter. This is served as a side dish but is never served as a sauce. The 2 sauce was fresh pepperoncini pickled in oil with zero flavor or heat, just oily. Simply mixing it together isn't possible; it has to sit for days to develop the flavor. But the way you do it, it's just oil. The third sauce was mayo with ketchup and a little paprika. You can let it pass, but it also shows how heartlessly the preparation is done. Question: Do you actually try what you serve to your customers??? For the money the food costs, as a customer I can expect real sauces and not this makeshift, cheap gastronomy imitation. Urgently go over the books with your concept. For me it wasn't an experience.

Unfortunately very disappointed. I usually never write reviews but that wasn't possible! The meat had absolutely ZERO taste and it had no atmosphere that you would normally expect from a stakehouse. Very small and cramped, the service left a lot to be desired. There were four of us there in February and it was relatively fresh because cold air was always flowing through the room from somewhere and therefore the clothes smelled like food. Unfortunately I have to say that this stakehouse was by far the worst we've ever been to and all four of us have been to a lot of them! The worst thing of all was that the meat really had no taste at all and the sauces were just bad, which bothered me the most given the price and is still annoying a day later! It's better to go to another one because it's a waste of money, which makes you regret it. Sorry 🤷‍♂️

Really great steak. Mediocre service. Waiter with short facial hair asked for a tip, I proceeded to add 4 francs out of courtesy, he cancelled my credit card payment and said typically people tip 10%, I put 0 francs and he basically threw a fit at the table dropping my credit card and slamming the receipt on the table (not even over exaggerating...) made me feel a bit uncomfortable, but all I had to do was walk out the restaurant. Won't be coming back again.

We had dinner there last Saturday. The tuna was a disaster. We ordered rare to medium, but got overdone. Even though it was bought to the attention of the waitress, nothing was done to correct or compensate. Also the potato dish was cold, which we promperly sent back to be warmed up. Steaks were delicious though.
