Opus in Luzern

We wanted to eat and drink something outside. It was pumping. We were patient, but there were five different people with us (after three we get the card) and no one said hello to us. Was it because of our bike clothes that others were served faster and, above all, more friendly before us? When it got cold we weren't allowed inside. The tube was also deeper than the glass. We saved the food, went in to pay and left.

The braised beef was delicious! The tirsmisu also left nothing to be desired. Very friendly service. A restaurant to remember. In any case, we will eat there again.

Were 2 mommies with 4 girls for dinner. The children's menu and puzzle book were a hit! Our food was delicious, the staff was nice and helpful - I can only recommend it for families with children. Attention: the seating is very tight, I didn't really see space for a stroller...

Visiting for brunch with 4 people. The food on offer was plentiful and good. However, we would have expected something warm for lunch. Otherwise price/performance totally OK. Recommendation.

Not recommendable. The overpriced oysters in the restaurant are fresher than the Reuss. With the moules, the unseasoned broth consisted only of water and cream. Loveless and bland. When it came to beef tartare, I could choose from “starter” to “gourmet” and “main course”. I ordered the "main course" for CHF 36.50 and only received a small hamburger-sized tartare, 4 onion rings and 4 slices of toast. Wine list is OK as it is wide-ranging. My wife and I no longer want to eat there.

I'm really surprised this restaurant has such a high rating. I thought this was the worst experience I've had in Luzern. Service was really poor... we gave up waiting to even get menus and had to find them ourselves. The drinks we ordered were also poor. The Panache was flat and tasted poor, and my wine was clearly open a long time because it tasted really dead (I had the wine before so knew exactly how it should taste). Then the food... wow, the prices are ridiculous. I had the burger and it was probably the worst, most overpriced burger I've ever had. I asked without cheese, and the remaining toppings were so minimal I actually thought they'd forgotten to add some of them (like the bacon). The burger overall was small, and the fries were clearly just generic frozen fries. For almost 40 francs, this is an absolute rip off. Oh and they didn't reduce the price, despite the fact I asked them to remove one of the main toppings. Go to Bierliebe and Friends (just 1 minute away by the river) and you can get a way, way better burger and amazing fries for 10 francs less. I didn't have a desert, but my colleagues all complained about the tiny portions and high prices. So overall, poor service, very high prices and sub-standard food. Not at all recommended.

I have ordered a large Coupe Nesselrode. Unfortunately only a very small portion was served. After asking, it was confirmed to me that it was a large portion. Then how small is the small portion?!! However, the taste was good. The service was also good.

A particularly beautiful Christmas decoration, in the restaurant and outside. We were served super quickly and very friendly. The antipasti buffet was very fine and varied.

The restaurant is right next to the Flower Bridge and you will pass by it on foot. It's just a bit low-key in appearance, so you don't pay much attention to it normally! The staff in the store are very friendly and help with ordering without any hassle! And the Swiss beef and tiger prawns are really delicious~the tiger prawns are solid and very sweet! The combination of steak and cheese is really perfect! If you go nearby, you must eat it!

We had breakfast with croissants and coffee. Everything was delicious. It was an enjoyable meal overlooking the river on a sunny October morning. The waiter serving was friendly and helpful.

Average in a nutshell. Enjoyed sitting outside as weather was very good. Food was nothing special and given the pricing you would expect more.

Pricey but next to the river with nice view

With a sensible chef de service, everything would be much easier. But unfortunately that's what companies like these are like these days, the main thing is profit and providing 0850 service for little money. This store has enormous potential, but management is failing.

Been there several times now. The location is great. The service varies greatly depending on the service person, it can be from good to rather difficult because it can take a long time for someone to come. I have had very good service on almost 10% of my visits so far. The prices are on the higher side. Table linen is a long way away; cheap, ugly paper sets are used.

Beautiful place but left a sour taste in our mouth while trying to pay and having to chase down our waiter. We asked someone, waited 15 minutes, didn’t have anyone come back to help us pay so and we got up to ask someone else for the bill, and received such a poor response from two waiters, one woman from behind the bar. Telling a customer there’s nothing they can do and walking away is not the right attitude - all you needed to do was find out what table we were on and let the waiter in that area know. We then had to continue to wait. Won’t return or recommend.

Delicious ☕ I recommend Caffe Freddo. A charming place by the fountain.

Went there as a group of 6 people for an aperitif and dessert. The service was very nice, but at some point a “Reserved” note was left at the table. This resulted in time stress...otherwise you could easily go there for aperitifs!!

Although there are some negative reviews here, I went to eat here with a few friends, with a reservation of course. We all thought it was okay and would love to come back.

Food ok, ambience very nice, service poor - we were hardly noticed and had to wait a long time for the food.

My wife and I were walking around the city looking for a place to eat. We were between two places to eat lunch and so happy we picked Opus. Sat outside right next to the water, great atmosphere. Food was exceptional. The prawns and pork chops were fabulous. My wife got the beef entrecote which was also amazing. It’s a must try restaurant in the heart of the city, in a great area. Highly recommended!

The brunch was very good and the food was very tasty and had a lot of choice. The view was also very nice. The service was very good and the price-performance ratio too.

One of our favourite meals we had when visiting Switzerland. We had the peach salad, smoked salmon tartare (highly recommend!!!) and a cheese platter. Everything was delicious and so fresh! The wait staff were incredible and we had a lovely gentlemen (I think Kristian?) serving us who was exceptional and so kind! The location is right beside the water, and the foot traffic was fairly minimal so it gave a lovely relaxing atmosphere! Highly recommend!

Great place for an afternoon drink or a snack. Service is very friendly, even during busy times and the location is very nice right beside the water.

Burger costs 36 euros to have a plate of frozen fries, no salad and a hamburger with only a slice of cheese and a medium minced steak... very disappointed to pay almost 100 euros for two burgers and two cokes... I don't do not recommend

Very nice place, nice views but unfortunately very poor service even though it wasn't full. The waiters didn't pay any attention to us, we went back in and asked for a cellar, but no one came. A pity!

Great cuisine, fantastic staff, a wide choice of wines, and one of the best views you can get.

I was here once in 2012. After waiting 40 minutes for dessert, I personally asked the kitchen when it was ready. Now waited another 40 minutes in 2023. If you go out to eat - that's still possible. Dessert only - long waiting times!!!!

We are currently on vacation and dined-in. My family member ordered the Angus beef burger and at 4:30 am the morning after, he started vomiting a lot. This was a clear case of food poisoning. My family member has lost all of his energy and now we are taking extensive care of him during this vacation. We are very disappointed.

Actually the environment of the restaurant is ok. But the service is very slow. A waitress we met was very impolite.

Very bad experience, Very rude waiter’s and they don’t have any type of behavior, also the prices is so expensive and even the tea they don’t know how to make it was just a water with a little color of a tea.

Desserts overall were great! Despite the high price, the seafood soup was quite comforting and pairs great with free bread and croissants.

Excellent affogato with coffee with the splendid view of the lake and the wooden bridge. This place is in a quiet but very central corner. The service may not be very fast but I still recommend coming here for the nice atmosphere and the menu offering.

Very unfriendly staff. You wait a long time to be served and the gentleman was very snippy and arrogant. Very bad customer experience! It's a shame, the view is very nice and the wine list isn't bad either.

Spend 14 chf on coffee and the waiter charged us 20 chf, add 6 chf tip without even telling us. I come from a country with tip culture and this is NOT how you gain tips😅 just because we don’t speak German or French does not give you the right to scam us. First day in the city and this is how you treat guests??? What a way to ruin our first impression of the city. We didn’t look carefully enough because the waiter made us wait for half an hour to get the bill and we are about to miss the train! So rude!! So disrespectful!!!!! My experience in Switzerland was perfect until you ruined it :( Please train your stuff better.

Visited the terrace of this restaurant while visiting Lucerne. Just wanted to have a coffee. Before 11am, staff were already busy setting tables for lunch. No one felt called to take an order. Only after other guests joined a manager could orders be placed. Kiffie was otherwise fine.

Had diner here and it was OK. Bit expensive but so is everywhere. Salad bar was good as you do not see many on offer. ** check your bill. Ours had an item we didn't order on it! Appears to be common practice in Lucerne 🙄

Totally weird company philosophy. Until 11 a.m. there is nothing except coffee, tap water and......alk (wine, Aperol) We wanted an espresso and a scoop of ice cream or a coffee frappe. Was not possible. Expression; The kitchen doesn't open until 11! Does the kitchen have to open for this?

I ordered a beer, but they gave me another drink (like a grapefruit drink) It was unfriendly

We have been living in Lucerne for almost 3 years now and have never been to Opus before. When we still wanted to have a drink after work and the terrace was very busy (but not fully booked), a guest offered us their place because they were just leaving. When we sat down and calmly studied the drinks menu, just after 1 minute the staff shouted at us in the style of "can you go away, you will be seated with us" when we were then puzzled and tried to get up, another service employee said to our waitress “Thanks, I wanted to send her away too” With this unprofessional treatment of guests, I don't know how anyone can feel welcome here. For me, definitely a place to avoid. Whoever is the boss there - I would look forward to an exchange (I myself have a managerial position in the service sector) - it could be that it was an isolated case. or rather the rule? ;-)

Far too long of a wait for a simple lunch like penne. Salad very small and pasta also very little. Staff is overwhelmed.

Sat there for twenty minutes while asking two of the waiters for a menu, to which they replied that they'd bring me one soon, but they never did. So I left. Also, the patio smells like dead fish.

Opus gave me phenomenal service. I had questions in regards to how to get to Mount Pilatus and their server, Danka, helped me as if she was a tour guide. Their new server, Balint, was eager to help when I asked him outside the diner and he found the right crew member that spoke English.

I have been visiting the OPUS restaurant regularly again for some time now. The staff is very nice. The menu is delicious, the antipasti buffet also deserves 5 stars.

We had a great time at Opus. The Silvester Menu was excelent, staff was very kind and helpful. Recommended wine was very good too.

Opus is simply okay. It’s a beautiful place, in a great location, and the food was decent with gluten free options. But, for the price $$$ it was not worth it honestly. I’ve had far tastier meals of similar quality. Burger was fine, steak was fine (veggies with the steak were slightly undercooked), and the Vermicelles desert was simply eh (I’ve had better at Bachmann and in France). The service was kind enough, but once again, just fine. The whole experience was okay, but given the price, I expect better and wouldn’t repeat it if given the chance.

This afternoon I reserved a table for a dinner tonight to celebrate my friends' birthday. The online reservation went seamlessly which included a question along the process whether it was for a special event (Birthday or Wedding). The question itself made me curious. I've been reserving a table online often and this was the first time that the restaurant wanted to know whether there was something to be celebrated. Little did I know they would greet my friend with a sumptuous dessert (on the house) after we devoured our main dish. Regardless of the free surprise dessert of my friend. I loved the main dish I ordered, Opus selection which I paired with a good white wine. The service was great and friendly, and the ambiance (Wine cellar) made our dining experience to the next level. Price-wise, it was right and all worth it. The whole experience at Opus was unforgettable and satisfying. I would definitely come back.

A cozy romantic restaurant with a menu card that has a good variety of options even for vegetarians. Loved the ambience but missed out on this "service with a smile "!
