One of the best restaurants in Zurich, great food and friendly staff, worth every CHF!!!

Really good, from starter to dessert and with not too invasive service. Risotto a moment behind in creaming, but, despite this, excellent (I also made the slipper). Simple, elegant and good. Hope to see you again soon, thank you!

As a sincere fan of Ornellaia wines, I was thrilled by the opportunity to dine here. Nevertheless, our experience left much to be desired. The food was mediocre, at best. Our dishes were rather bland and uninspired. Even the bread that was brought to our table was stale. The service was similarly disappointing. While there were occasional high notes, my wife and I left feeling that our presence for dinner was somewhat intrusive. In comparison to other Michelin restaurants (ignoring the 2 and 3 star restaurants for obvious reasons), this may have been the most disappointing experience we have had. With the negatives aside, I was impressed by the restaurant’s wine program and we did enjoy several different wines (including Ornellaia’s crown jewel). Perhaps it was an off-night for the restaurant. Regardless, such nights should not become the burden of the guest, and I hope that the restaurant takes steps to ensure such improvements for others in the future.

One of the best Italian restaurants in Zurich in my opinion. Nice selection of food, but even nicer selection of Italian wines of course, which are offered by the glass, even Ornellaia. The room is magnificently appointed by renowned Swiss architect Theuss and by Dr Bindella's exquisite art and painting collection. The open kitchen is neatly separated by a glass window, so no odours disturb the guests while being able to watch the busy chefs. The staff is super attentive, friendly and charming. Anytime worth a visit

Wonderful evening with delicious food. Traditional Italian cuisine, with some modern twist. And of course a perfect Ornellaia wine selection to pair with! We‘ll be back.

We had such a great time. We had just arrived to Zurich late and wanted dinner. This was the only place still open and they were gracious enough to seat us immediately. The service was great and the food was top notch. The eggplant parmasian was fried and baked and had amazing texture. The white truffle pasta was aldente and very flavorful. On my next visit to Zurich we'll be back there again.

The restaurant was quite busy, but a pleasant atmosphere and not too loud. The atmosphere is nice and everything was clean, including the toilets, which are one floor below. It is highly recommended to reserve a little further in advance, otherwise you may not get a table. The restaurant is located quite centrally in Zurich and is easy to reach by public transport. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the service and the staff. At the beginning everything was fine, but when we ordered the starters it seemed as if the staff were quite rushed and wanted to finish quickly. A starter was then forgotten and we had to order again. Overall we felt very stressed while eating. And the employees weren't really friendly or attentive either. (Except those at reception) For the price we expect better service. The food, however, was extremely good. The quality is really top and sometimes interesting creations. We might come back again for the food and see if the service is better. At the moment we cannot recommend the restaurant.

Yesterday I had lunch with my wife, I found it on Google and I must say it was a very good choice. Exquisite dishes, very kind service, as soon as we entered we felt at home.

The food is really not tasting like in Italy, for the price I was hoping travel in Italy but no I was still in Zurich. Service and waiters are really great.

The restaurant changed management on May 8, 2023, so previous reviews are probably only marginally relevant. The evening started with us having a table at the very end of the restaurant, right in front of the emergency exit, so you're looking directly at the door. We were able to change tables later, but the next guests then got this table. There shouldn't be a table like that in a top restaurant! Otherwise the seating is rather tight. The food was ok but not outstanding, the flavors were rather discreet. Unfortunately there was no amuse-bouche, which is also atypical for such a restaurant. All in all ok but there is better, we wouldn't recommend it.

Excellent food, excellent and courteous service, what more could you want?

Unfortunately, I cannot understand the previous, very laudatory reviews. These very good reviews were the decisive factor in us choosing the Ornelleia. For a starter I ordered an artichoke salad with parmesan. It came with artichokes with parmesan cheese soaked in olive oil without any spices. My companion ordered a beef tartare, which was very simple and also unseasoned. For the main course we both had taglieroni with truffles. Only you couldn't taste the truffle, so it was actually simple cream pasta. I won't come anymore. The service was disinterested and didn't know who got which order. I think it's the least in a restaurant in this price range!

Great Italian restaurant in the heart of Zurich. From the online reservation to the service to the food and drink, everything was wonderful. I decided on a fennel salad for the starter and a salmon tartare for the main course. I had a glass of red wine (Le Volte) as an accompaniment, which went very well. All in all, we paid around CHF 350 for four people, which is on the upper limit. In my opinion, the price/performance ratio is right. Gladly again 👍🏼

Overpriced even for Zürich and not retaining any of the charm that Tuscany is known for. Food is quite average.

Great ambience with an open kitchen, very attentive and friendly service, food tasted excellent - all in all an absolute recommendation.

Since chef Antonio Colaianni left Ornellaia, it is no longer recommended. The price/quality ratio is wrong. Once and never again. It's rated completely wrong in the guides. It should not appear in Michelin or Gault Millau.

I tried the spaghetti alla chitarra con cambero rosso. Overall taste was good but it didn’t wow me. The other dish we had was ravioli carbonara. Taste was good but presentation could be better and I wonder why they used 3 little bits of bacon instead of guanciale or pancetta. I’ll try and go back at some point. Not giving up yet.

This place is a joke, wondering how they got Michelin star, twice my man had to get up to pour us some wine from the most expensive bottle in this “restaurant”. We asked if they have sommelier, on what waiter was looking very surprised like he has no idea who’s that 🤣🥲. Not recommend at all.

UPDATE! This is NOT the same restaurant as it used to be. The star chef Antonio Colaianni has left the restaurant, and it is no longer Michelin-grade. It used to be my favorite restaurant and now it is a simple and blended Italian restaurant with no special touch and tasteless dishes. The service is of course even worse and the whole experience for us was very disappointing. I can not believe how the iconic Ornellaia was turned so quickly into a distasteful and cheap place. Shocking!

It was quite a mediocre display for Ornellaia when we were there with issues with the food and service. Overall the space is beautiful and tables are spacious, I very much appreciated that effort. The service - mostly professional yet cold, even for Swiss standards. Not up to par for a Michelin star restaurant, with little explanation about the menu and inattentive staff. At one point I dared to fill my own water glass when the hostess/server rushed to our table and literally grabbed the bottle from my hand saying it was her job. Needless to say my glass remained empty during the meal if I didn’t fill it myself afterwards. Overall the staff were unpleasant with us (see more below). Food: big disappointment. We opted to do two appetizers and two pastas (one can order the pasta dish as a small course or a main, which we did). My appetizer - artichoke filled with roasted vegetables was really shameful in its lack of complexity for technique or flavor. I left half uneaten. My partner had the pork belly which was greasy and not good. The pastas were ok, but really nothing exciting. My partner ordered the Cacio a Pepe - and the server said there would be two parts to the dish when he dropped off the first one. After eating it, my partner simply received another bowl of the same exact dish. We both shook our heads - why not just serve a larger dish so we could both enjoy our meals at the same time? The dish itself, again was mediocre. Same goes for my Orecchiette - expected to be wow’ed - it was just ok but truly not special. Finally - when the original server/hostess came to clear our table from the appetizer course she noticed we left the dishes half eaten. She asked if everything was ok, which we told her we didn’t enjoy the dishes, she then just shrugged, said “ok”, and walked away. Not quite sure what Michelin standards are but when the guest isn’t happy, especially mid meal, you try to understand and make an effort to fix. Zero here. In summary, what a disappointment. Needless to say this was a very expensive meal, and we left very unsatisfied. Too bad.

a magnificent place, spectacular restaurant. I've wanted to visit this place for a long time and it was worth it. Super refined dishes, very high quality products, very kind service where the customer feels like a real king. Not an everyday restaurant, but to celebrate special moments. The fact that the kitchen chef passes by each table at the end of the evening makes it clear how much the customer is at the center of attention. To be recommended!

Food: excellent! Ambiance: not bad, but I found the entrance and cloakroom a bit cramped and untidy (for a 1* Michelin). Team: Maitre, unfortunately, was very unfriendly. When we asked about the connection between the restaurant concept and the sculptures by the artist Josephson (who is in the restaurant), he unfortunately replied very nastily: "Do I look like someone who knows art?" A pity. Conclusion: good but it missed the point of experience.

From reception to hospitality, service, attention, reservations on the phone and food - everything in one was impeccable. The food is really good, everything prepared with passion using fresh products. A surprise was the "vegetarian tartare" made from watermelon, which is visually identical to a regular tartare, but tastes even better! The location is excellent to reach, right in the city center and Ornellaia has a very beautiful and elegant interior. The entrance door is made of wood and opens automatically to the side (not easy to find, at first glance it looks locked) All in all, a very good address in Zurich for an upscale Italian dinner.

Solid Michelin-rated restaurant in Zurich. All the dishes were good - but if you have a small stomach, just choose a three or four course, it is already plenty of food!

We visited the restaurant again - and were once again disappointed: Nice place, friendly service, but extremely modest food. The Tartare di manzo is totally disappointing and tastes neither of beef nor of potatoes, the “Bouillabaisse” alla Colaianni is simply mediocre. The only highlight are the wines. It's better to keep quiet about the prices...

Booked for a new year thinking we would have exceptional food and service.....Chef popped in at the end of a disastrous service expecting to pickup plaudits.....gave him feedback directly and in writing...no response other than verbal platitudes... No standards No quality No pride No service. This was a year ago, 5 stars how quickly service can plummet Beautiful restaurant, matched by the food. Relaxed warm ambience. Open kitchen delivering stunning plates visually and with flavour.

We recently visited this wonderful restaurant for the first time on a Saturday lunchtime. The welcome from the Maître de Service was very friendly. The food exceeded our expectations (tartar as a starter, bouillabaisse for my partner, raviolo for me). The espresso was kindly given to us as a quick reaction to catch a bottle of mineral water that was almost dropped by the service staff 😀. The price is high, but considering what we received as little greetings from the kitchen, it was more than justified. It was just really, really nice. Thank you for that. Hopefully we'll come back soon.

Of course we know A. Colaianni's cuisine, which has moved through Zurich from Clouds to Gustav to Ornellaia. We like the food as a surprise kitchen and are willing to pay very good money for it. Unfortunately, A. Colaianni's stations always had an aftertaste. The service! Unfortunately, the evenings were never a top experience. Unfortunately, what we now had to experience in Ornellaia was the end of our journey to the Colaianni stations. With a party of around 40 people for Christmas dinner, we arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes before opening time. It was raining and bitterly cold. The restaurant was reserved just for us. The door was locked and people were busy working inside the restaurant. We made ourselves known to the staff at the window. They ignored us with a stone-faced expression. We repeatedly made our presence known until someone took pity on opening the door to briefly inform us that they weren't finished with the tables yet. Without hearing our arguments (we would have waited in the warmth of the entrance area without complaining) the door was closed again. It was still very cold and there was no shelter from the rain. We were finally allowed in, hypothermic. Why you would have a service from a top restaurant ready at exactly the opening times when you are expecting a large company is very unprofessional. The rest of the service was even worse than usual. The wine was poured unprofessionally and you had to pull your arm back to avoid the spilled tropics. There was no joy among the staff and the discomfort continued until dessert. Only one Austrian waiter was always friendly and took good care of us. (But he is only there for a short time, he is leaving the Ornellaia). The other non-German speaking employees didn't have a smile on their faces the whole evening and gave the impression that it really pissed them off (sorry) to serve us. It's a shame that you can't manage that with the staff. You've gotten even worse. Almost all of your negative reviews relate to your service staff. Until now it was just not professional, but now the service you offer for this money was completely incompetent and extremely unpleasant as a guest. For a top restaurant with top prices, I simply expect top service, at least friendly!

Great atmosphere and very tasty food

The chef and his team delivered at Gustav back then and are now doing the same at Ornellaia. The food is definitely excellent. Unfortunately, the service in the kitchen lags quite behind. No smile, no kind words and sometimes very inattentive. This is particularly true for the ladies in service. The restaurant itself is modern and rather sterile. My conscience likes it, but I don't.

Ornellaia is an absolute pleasure, and one of my very favorite restaurants in Zurich. There I enjoy Italian food that is among the best I have eaten anywhere, with impeccable friendly service, in a lovely room enhanced by tasteful artwork. All super conveniently located in the heart of Zurich on the Bahnhofstrasse. There is a daily lunch menu as well as comprehensive a la carte. I love the creatively prepared traditional dishes as well as the nice extras. As with the best of anything, it is not inexpensive.

The food was good but the service was so M I S E R A B E L that unfortunately it was only enough for one star - and that only because one star is the minimum that can be awarded. The two of us were there on a Wednesday lunchtime and, in addition to the food, we ordered wine, water and Coca Cola. The wine as well as the water and the cola were poured and then placed on the side, not on our table but on a counter intended only for the staff. We had to ask several times whether we would be given wine - which was right next to water and cola. The staff was so inattentive that they walked past us countless times but didn't notice that our glasses were always empty. Half the water wasn't even poured and remained in the restaurant. Finally, we were recommended a dessert of the day - this arrived after a whopping 30 minutes. Dessert of the day after 30 minutes!! The espresso that I also ordered after 13 minutes. Simply a no go. I will not recommend this restaurant nor will I ever go there again.

Antonio is one of the best on the Zurich pitch, the quality is consistently at a high level. The dishes are varied and imaginative. In addition, the service is courteous and friendly.

Outstanding food and service. We had a la carte, the portions were great, unlike the usual degustation menu portion. We also ordered a birthday cake from them. My whole family thinks it is the best cake in Zurich they have tried, better than Sprüngli, or Stocker. I like it better than the Dolder Cake. The crispy pork belly was absolutely amazing!

Truly lives up to it's earned Michelin Star. The service was excellent and the food was a true masterpiece of a meal. Wonderful interior and a view of the kitchen trough really big glass windows. More of a modern and nouveau restaurant, but still a italian cuisine. Molto bene!!!

We had a great meal at Ornellaia this evening and it was a great experience. Unfortunately we found the chef de service very indecent towards her service staff. Our waitress was always sent away by the chef de service. The food was amazing, unfortunately we had to wait a bit long.

Locality/interior design, food quality and presentation very good. Service personnel needs more hospitality schooling (serving wine not over the guest's shoulder and across the table to the other side, serving right food to right person...) small things but the icing on the cake

Outstanding restaurant with exceptional cuisine and very friendly staff, definitely worthy of its Michelin star. The beef tartare was amazing, probably the best I’ve ever had. The pasta dishes were creative and very flavorful. The meat dishes were beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. The desserts was an imaginative and delicious way to end the meal. The staff were always very friendly and professional. At the end of the meal, the chef even came up to every table to ask if everything had been ok! Dining at Ornellaia is truly an unforgettable experience which I would recommend to anyone staying in Zurich.

Impressively the best quality and sophistication of the food...the service staff are excellent. The ambience is dignified...and the show kitchen is interesting...and entertaining for the guests, every move of the chefs is concerted.

Today my wife and I finally visited Antonio Colaianni again after Gustav. Our expectations were high and they were exceeded. The culinary experience, supported by a great ambience and a charming top crew, as well as of course the excellent food, with many surprises in between, are for us unique in Zurich to date. A big compliment to the whole team and thank you for this wonderful evening. Grazie Mille!

Simply some of the best in Zurich. A mix between Italian cuisine and “nouvelle cuisine”. Every course is simply a treat for the palate. With the menu surprise, it's better not to take seven courses straight away, even four or five will fill you up. Especially since there are still greetings from the kitchen. The service was always absolutely impeccable. We come here again and again, even if it's not cheap. But worth every franc!!!

On Saturday evening we went for dinner. & courses vegi and 6 courses with. We were pretty full afterwards. The sauces that Monsieur le Chef conjured up ran like oil. I also liked the Poggio from Ornelleia. A nice accompaniment to all light things and a wine that doesn't go down. The wine list is what I love, really good Italians, good French and the prices are decent. You can look into the kitchen as the surprise menus are created. The service is attentive and not intrusive and very friendly. The ambience is modern, and you can have a good conversation. Good this way!

I quite agree with the previous review from Ioana. The decor is wonderful and the personelle professional. Some of the food was heavenly, the chicken and the fish. Some was just okay. When i could not eat the beef because it was so overpowered by salt, i was told by the chef that only Asian customers complain about the salt. I may look Asian but coming from Canada, i find that response quite incomprehensible. I guess Asian guests should not go there. It was a nice evening but my friend and I were expecting the great food we‘d had there before.

It was our first time at Ristorante Ornellaia and we were more than satisfied. A beautiful, well thought-out menu with first-class wine pairings, simply an experience. The service staff is very friendly, motivated and competent. A really good kitchen that we will remember positively for a while. Will visit the house again soon......

Food is absolutely amazing. Nevertheless the service is a great deception. There is no sommelier: wine pairing becoming over expensive and without interest.
