Wonderful little coffee-place with delicious food right in the main-street of zermatt. We went there several times, because of the super-tasty cakes and perfect hot chocolate. They have vegan options. Service was very nice and polite. 10/10 would recommend.

The staff was unbothered when we bought two coffees. We were not sure whether we wanted a coffee to go or drink inside because it was cold so we ordered paper cups and eventually ended up drinking it inside. Halfway through one of the baristas came and asked us to leave because we were drinking from paper cups and that is meant to go. Even though the price was the same and we were not informed we cannot stay if we drink from paper cups she insisted we left. We felt very unwelcome. Not sure if that’s how you should treat your customers.

Lovely place. Very cozy and comfortable. There are very few tables so you have to be quite lucky to get one. This place is a must for everyone visiting Zermatt. Those Matterhorn shaped mini chocolates were to die for. Loved it

We were five women for a little cozy coffee chat in the Petit Royal. I fell in love with this coffee place. It is run with a lot of passion, with lots of coffee, tea and hot chocolate creations as well as lots of home-baked delicacies. The prices are so fair and not at all adapted to Zermatt, but simply friendly. Unfortunately we only discovered it on the last day. For me it was the highlight of my Zermatt weekend. I hope the team continues to have the fire and dedication to continue running this little gem. Unfortunately, such coffees are far too rare! Everything done right!

Coffee is fantastic! Place is pretty small, so can expect some delays during busy hours, but staff is always doing their best. Was going here at least once a day during the visit

Lovely little cafe near train station. Prices are reasonable for this resort city and they have a nice assortment of coffees and cakes. Not a lot of seating, although there is a second floor and some outdoor chairs.

We were in Zermatt for 5 days and we found this cozy little cafe!! The food and drinks were of great taste!! Loved the atmosphere and the service. All the people working there was really friendly. Cakes and drinks are stellar.Dont miss out this cafe!

It is a nice small place in Zermatt. Upstairs is cozy to have a seat and get a nice cup of coffee with some cakes. My favorite is carrot cake. I did not enjoy banana cake though.

MUST go while in Zermatt. OMG after the first sip of hot chocolate I wanted them to take all my money. When ppl say it's the best hot chocolate they've ever had in their life, they're not exaggerating. I think the waitress hated us though. Admittedly, one time we forgot to pay because you have to pay on your way out after dining in, and we thought we paid in the begging. They were nice about it the next time we went and we apologized and paid for it. I don't care if they hate me though, the drinks are so good I will endure any type of customer service.

Petit royal is a fabulous cafe with good food options. Definitely try their soup of the day and the quiche. Also, you can never go wrong with a carrot cake.

After several expensive meals in Zermatt (personal pizza for CHF 30), we tried this place on our last night. Two big bowls of soup du jour (mushroom bisque) served with bread and olive oil and, wait, big glasses of free still water, plus a generous focaccia panini and a piece of delicious cake to share. All for CHF 38. Go there. Apparently the cardamom pastries are delicious, which may be why they were none left at 9:30 this morning.

Wonderful café in Zermatt. A warm and inviting atmosphere with great coffee, good selection of food and cakes and local products on offer.

As a barista by trade, this is hands down the best cafe in Zermatt. They know their coffee and serve it many ways to your satisfaction. Their hot chocolate is also excellent according to my wife, made consistently well. We visited 6 times in 3 days that how highly we rated it. The atmosphere is fantastic, really nice cakes and they sell chocolate too. Always busy and can be hard to find a table(we were lucky to score one six times) but worth the perseverance. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and nothing seems to difficult for them. They also do takeaway if you prefer to walk around with a hot drink but take some time to sit down, enjoy your surroundings and indulge yourself. Big thanks to ALL the staff who made our experience memorable.

We love this cozy cafe in winter . Would drop by when in Zermatt. It’s crowded so hard to get a seat. Upstairs tables overlooking the street at wonderful.

I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the tea room Petit Royal. On the main street, this quite small but cosy tea room has a wide array of sweets but above all excellent hot chocolate specialties.

Oh what a cozy little cafe in the center of Zermatt! We stumbled upon here because of the catchy phrase on the door. Every item we had was excellent. The service was great. The place was cozy. Will definitely go here again when we're in Zermatt. We ordered: - Red pesto vegan sandwich (4.5/5) - Quiche (5/5) I've never had a better quiche - Irish lady (5/5) tasty hot chocolate + baileys - Fruit crumble (4.5/5)

This is the cutest place to take a hot chocolate with a peace of cake in Zermatt. The best hot drinks I have ever tasted and the most delicious cakes and on the top of this the kindest staff. Thank you so much, guys!!!

Delicious food in a cozy setting, good selection of coffees, teas, cakes and breads. Seating is quite limited so drop by early or get a reservation. The banana cake is moist and not too sweet, the focaccia filling is generous. The cappuccino and latte nocciola are both delicious. Prime location along the main street makes it a good place to drop by either to start off the day or for a short break during the day.

The dark hot chocolate was so thick and seriously the most amazing thing I ever had!!

Everything about this shop hits the mark. The coffee is made just right, the pastries are tasty, and the atmosphere is inviting. Definitely a place to stop by if you're a coffee enthusiast.

We visited the place on Friday 12th of May. The bruschetta was amazing! But it was more of a sandwich than a bruschetta. The spicy Tuna and the tomato mozzarella were to die for. The chai latte and mocha were good as well. The workers were nice and helpful .

This family run cafe is a great place in Zermatt to have authentic Swiss hot chocolate, pastries and sandwiches. Cafe was a nice Bavarian ambience and excellent service!

The food is absolutely amazing! I highly recommend going to the top floor for a more relaxing atmosphere! We loved the hot chocolate and golden milk drinks. The lemon tart is very very good. My favorite item was the croque monsieur. That was the best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life.

We went here twice and the food is consistently 10/10 even if the service is a bit slow due to the business of the cafe. The Budapest cake was something I didn't plan on trying but am so glad I did! It was like a light creamy ferrero rocher soft cake with citrus. Try the focaccia sandwiches if you want something more savory!

This is where the iced Americano, which is so precious to Koreans, is located. The portion size wasn't as large as in Korea, so I added some bottled water to the bitter coffee and drank it down. Even though I don't like sweet things, I was able to enjoy the famous Budapest cake. I had forgotten to order the cake, so they gave me two chocolates as a gift when I paid. I think there was coffee in it and it was very delicious.

Affogato was good, so was the environment.

The finest baked potato you'll ever eat is served here! It comes with two types of delicious cheese, plus a few veggies and greens. Excellent value in an otherwise really expensive town. My wife is a native of Idaho and says it's the best spud she's ever tasted :)

I am a wedding planner from the US--I had tried to email Petit Royal in advance because I had a couple getting married in Zermatt that was GF and their site mentioned they cater to folks with dietary restrictions. Their email had been down but when I went in 2 days before my couple's elopement, they were more than happy to help with a small GF carrot cake! They hadn't done a GF version of their carrot cake yet but it was fantastic! My couple was so happy! Thank you Petit Royal for accommodating us last min! :)

Got the Budapest cake because of the reviews but didn't like it. It was mostly whipped cream and so rich I couldn't finish it and had to toss.

Great value, great drinks, great lunch, super cute vibe inside, and really friendly staff. We went back the next day for the latte macchiato.

You will find in this small cafe an amazing panoply of pastries, cookies and great tasting coffee. I would definitely stop again next time

The carrot cake was amazing! Everything else was great, staff was super nice, and they had a TV showing a fireplace, which made the place even cosier. They also have smoothies and quiche on the menu, so it would be a good option for a light meal.

Very nice and cosy place, with 2 floors, delivering different types of coffees, and sweeties. Also a small shop with local products and food is existing. It's worth spending 30-60 minutes (or even more :D) in this place.

VERY RUDE young girl at the ice cream stand. i smiled and said hi twice thinking she didn’t hear the first time and she never acknowledge me once. new ice cream was being topped up and her colleague was very friendly as i was excited about some flavours but she continued to look unhappy. even after her colleague left, i waited for 10-15mins as she just arranged all her ice cream and tags without acknowledging me. it was super awkward, i would have left if not for my mum who wanted to have some ice cream on a hot day. refused to buy for myself when i finally made my purchase, she just said “that’s all” as i was preparing pay and when i didn’t hear, she literally shouted “THATS ALL” at me! i was shocked. literally my worst experience with service staff on my whole Swiss trip. Hope the establishment can do some customer service training for their staff.

Great value for lunch with a generous serve of vegie soup, or various cakes and toasted sandwiches upstairs, where you can look across at the colourful flowers in the window boxes across the street. And the coffee is top notch.

Central location and nice interior. Small space but have downstairs and upstairs seating. Pretty cakes and yummy soup. Service wise can be better. Overall not bad for a brief stop after a long day of walk.

Really amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazzzzzzzing… Budapesst cake is so, so, so, sooooooo delicious!!!!!! It was so hard while looking around zermartt, but this cafe was more valuable than Matterhorn. It's so delicious that I want to throw this whole cafe in front of my house. I was oder ice americano, budapest, homemade white chocolate latte (?). I recommend you white chocolate latte, americano and cake.

It's so good that we visited twice in our two-day stay in Zermatt, their hot choc drinks and baked goods are amazing! We had mocha, hot choc and Budapest on day 1 and white mocha + lemon tart on day 2.

A charming little bakery and coffee shop. We were initially fooled by only 3 small tables and no indoor seating, but there's a small room upstairs with about 5 more tables. We had espresso drinks and my wife had the fruit crumble and I had a piece of the lemon tart. A wonderful place on a chilly day in Zermatt!

Small Tiny and Lovely Cafe. Loved their Hot Chocolate and Carrot cake (was their suggestion). Carrot cake was yummy. Hot Chocolate with cream was good too and Indeed it was hot than normal usual temperature :). If you are in Zermatt don't miss this place for a sip and a quick bite. (We were there during Spring season and it was perfect fit with the combination we took). Staff was very much friendly.

We were blown away by the quality of their cakes, sweets, hot chocolate, and mocha. The flavors were exceptional, and the presentation was beautiful. We also had a soup of the day which was amazing. The taste is above average in Switzerland, but the employees are unfriendly. When I ordered lemonade, he got annoyed and asked me what kind of lemonade it was. I ran my hand over the menu board with a ballpoint pen. I never want to go again.

I absolutely loved this place ! Everything was delicious, the place is cozy and the service was great! We had the lemon pie, the lemon cake, the Budapest cake and a serrano sándwich and all of them were amazing. The beverages were also pretty good and they have so many options! I definitely recommend this place !
