Restaurant Arvenstube in Zermatt

Cozy atmosphere (it's the restaurant downstairs, not upstairs. ) Fabulous, friendly and attentive service. Clever recipe variations, nicely presented.

I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Arvenstube in the beautiful historic hotel Waldhaus on top of the hill at Sils Maria. The hotel kindly accepted to pick us up and drive us back to our different hotel in Sils Maria. Quite practical as the walk up/down hill in winter can be quite slippery. The hotel is amazing inside with lots of wood and musicians. Overall the food was very good but with a few hick-ups that were solved only after lengthy discussions with management of the restaurant. Indeed we had in particular to wait almost 1 hour between appetizer and main. The management ultimately did a gesture on the check.

So happy we found a table on December 31 which served a la carte menu! Lovely, cozy, alpine chic restaurant with great service and atmosphere. Food very nice, the only reason I do not give them 5 stars is because the raclette we ordered was a small plate and not what we expected.

We really enjoyed our meal here. The lamb was tender and delicious. The Zurich Style Veal with rosti was done really well as well. We were lucky and were able to dine here before they take a break until they reopen in the winter.

At the weekend we were at the Arvenstube restaurant with 9 people. Have rarely experienced such friendly service in Zermatt. Food was super tasty and great price. We can recommend.

We had to ask for a table 3 times before we got a table even though we had reservations. No one asked if we wanted drinks (not even water) so I went to the bar to get a drink. The chef would not accommodate my food restrictions even though the menu specifically says they accommodate food restrictions. Then at the end we had to ask twice before receiving our bill. Other tables around us look to have received good service so I guess we were treated like we were invisible.

We were extremely mistreated by a Portuguese lady, when we asked about the ingredients of a dish she got confused and couldn't explain, then when the dish arrived, we politely said it wasn't what we wanted, she seemed extremely irritated and aggressive with gestures and words . Totally inappropriate attitude for those who serve the public.

Everything is okay here and the food is more than delicious. The staff is very friendly, you feel very comfortable here. Any time again and highly recommended 👍

Wonderful place for dinner. Wonderful staff. Great location and very cute room in the basement of the hotel but still lots of light and windows. Food was authentic and produce mostly all local. Been going to Zermatt for 15+ years and this is definitely one of my favorites. May I say much better than most Stube in the area.

Went there during lunch time without reservation. The staff kindly requested us to wait for 30 mins to have my table ready. Very lovely and chatty staff. Feels very comfortable with them. This restaurant is located along one of the main street in Zermatt beside Hotel Pollux, very easy to find. The place is very cosy, clean, nicely decorated and homely. Food is good, you should try a variety of their offers. Highly recommended!!!!

This is the worst racism i have ever experienced in any city in the world. Apparently in this hotel if you are white you are allowed to walk in and grab any table but if you are black brown or any other nationality you are not. My advise to them they should put a board that south Asians not allowed. The staff is rude to the core and misbehave and used literal words like that is why we don't allow u people when i raised my concerns. Extreme racist staff and I would strongly advise if you are south Asian be careful with their staff specially the ladies and the girl with specs who are serving over their and better find an alternative if you don't want to get humiliated in front of everyone. The reason I am writing this review because they said initially they don't have table we said ok we will wait, we wer politely waiting for one hour and observed white people walking in and they are giving table to them and this happened thrice and when we requested wen we saw a table got vacant they strated misbehaving with my wife who was standing with a one year old baby in front of everyone asked her to get out. Anyways I raises my voice because not anybody else should face which we faced but please be careful from this extremely not rude but deep down sick racist staff, because rudenes can come from stress but this is just pure hate to a particular race which they think they still think they have white skin privileges. Pathetic and disgusted after visiting this restaurant so please careful guys.

Dann folgte viel Pommes und Reis, und nach weiteren 5 Minuten dann doch noch die Bouillon, zum Glück wurde so früh angezündet. Die Saucen waren wie bereits in anderen Berichten fixfertig aus der Tube/Flasche also nichts schlechtes , aber halt einfach 08.15! Nach 7 Gabeln hatten wir kein Fleisch mehr , aber noch sehr viel Pommes und Reis und mastige nicht feine Saucen. Ich habe dann versucht nach zu bestellen, bis ich bestellen konnte wartete ich sicher 10min, dann warte ich 10 min bis das Fleisch kam. Meine Frau hat dann halt die Pommes gegessen, ich nicht. Der Fleischteller kam, aber diesmal mit 5 Scheiben Fleisch.... wir bestellten Pommes nach für meine Frau, nach 10 min kamen diese, aber die 5 Gabeln mit dem hauchdünnen Fleisch waren gegessen und Wein und Wasser hatten wir auch nicht mehr seit 15 Min. Also bestellten wir Fleisch und baten um die Getränke nach zu schenken.. nach weiteren 10 Minuten kam dann das Fleisch, diesmal mit je 3 Scheiben Fleisch! Unglaublich! Die Pommes waren inzwischen kalt und wir haben uns über diese Taktik und das Verhalten sehr geärgert. Nach 5 Minuten kam dann die Bedienung um zu fragen ob wir noch mehr Fleisch wollen. Mir war das dann zuviel und ich habe ihr den Ablauf und die ägerliche Situation erklärt, Sie hat sich entschuldigt, aber an Ihr liegt es ja nicht. Die Bedienung wie am Tag zuvor Frau Rosa einfach genial und perfekt. Immer lächelnd und zuvorkommend und ohne jegliche Hast. Weiter so wir kommen sicher wieder zu Ihr.

Das gemütlich Ambiente und die sehr freundliche Bedienung sind alleine ein Besuch in diesem schönen, stilvoll eingerichteten Restaurant wert. Die Spätzlipfanne und das Risotto mit Parmaschinkem waren ausgezeichnet, Preis-/Leistung stimmt über alles. Wir freuen uns bereits heute auf den nächsten Besuch.

Obwohl wir mit über 20 Personen gekommen sind, war à la Carte gar kein Problem. Fleischqualität top, nur schon aus diesem Grund wird es wieder einmal in dieses Restaurant gehen.

Das Restaurant ist nett eingerichtet, bietet grössere Portionen zum gleichen Preis als andere Restaurants in Zermatt udn hat eine überaus freundliche Bedienung. Schön ist auch, dass hier nicht nur Touristen sondern auch vioele Einheimische anzutreffen sind.

Ambiente ist ganz in Ordnung, hebt sich allerdings nicht von anderen Restaurants in Zermatt ab. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und bemühte sich, nach einem falsch servierten Gericht einen Ersatz zu bringen. Schade, dass der Fehler der Küche nicht mit einem offerierten Dessert wieder gut gemacht wurde. Das Restaurant ist sehr familenfreundlich und bietet viel Platz für einen Kinderwagen direkt am Tisch.

Unser Business Gruppe hatten ein sehr leckeres Wallis am Abend im Arvenstube.
