Restaurant Grand Café in Interlaken

If I could give this restaurant a minus that would be it. I visited with my family had a coffee time there. The service was really poor, the waitresses were unfriendly and rude. They gave us wrong meal and no apologies were offered. Took really long time until they changed it. The fondue was not ok, other places have done it better. The worst service I ever received in a restaurant!!!

Came here for a mid morning coffee: good coffee and attentive staff.

Came here at an unconventional time (around 16:00) for lunch. It was our first time eating fondue and we were a little bit confused, but Andrea, our server, was wonderful & explained everything to us, recommending dishes and beers. She even offered to take a picture of me and my mother enjoying our fondue, a very sentimental moment. Food was also delicious- I’m not big on cheese but managed to clear up the entire pot of fondue. Their local beer was top notch. Great service & atmosphere. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to friends.

Arrived there for a late lunch, around 13:30. Only small menu was available, despite that outside was presenting a nice long menu with a wide variety. We came for Fondue 🫕 and it was available. It was ok, just ok. Out of range was the lady who served us: unfriendly for 250%. All of us felt not welcoming since beginning. We were happy to leave the place. Do not recommend for visiting.

Disaster that poor service staff! A nice Sunday lunch, two people and a lot of hungry people. I think it's a disgrace on the part of the restaurant!

The food was great, but the service employee Dominik was extremely unfriendly. When asked about oat milk there was only a side eye and a "We have lactose-free milk"

We only had a few drinks and dessert, but the location and service were pretty good. The outdoor seating provides a front row view of the ice capped mountains and all the paragliders on their descent to landing in the park across the way

Service, burgers excellent, definitely recommended.

Excellent fondue and beautiful location! We even reordered fondue. The service seemed friendly to us, but we had the feeling we were being laughed at for being so hungry.

Their fondue is excellent and served without alcohol. Ask for it with bread and potatoes and assure them that it is without alcohol. The staff are courteous.

Nice ambiance, and the place is very accessible. Food is great! Kudos to Kuya Mark for a very entertaining and warm service. :)

The place is good, I didn't try the food because of the terrible attention of the waitress. I do not recommend this restaurant unless you want to receive mediocre service.

Stopped for a tea and coffee around 10:30 and the staff were so nice! Great view if you can manage to sit outside!

It was the best in Switzerland! I was able to order the cheese fondue for just one person, and the service and atmosphere were great. The price is also affordable in Switzerland! Good cost performance 👌

They do not welcome Arab guests even though there is a vacancy in the place. The outdoor employees are ill-mannered. We waited from 5 until 6 p.m. to get dinner. In the end, we were rejected even though there was a vacancy in front of us and there was no reservation.

Overall service is good but needs to improve on behavioral aspects.

Amazing food (chicken with mushroom and rösti in the photo), even if I wish there was more chicken. If you reserve you might get a table with a nice mountain view as the one in the second photo. Huge selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Tricky to spend less then 30chf per person

Pleasant for young and old! Walked across the town in rain to eat on their patio and it was well worth it. Ordered the raclette burger - (juicy, homemade sauces, and perfectly soft bun), flank steak with chimmichurri sauce for my teens and it was gobbled up (cooked medium with the perfect amount of sauce), rosti - filling comfort food also for a teen, mixed salad with chicken well suited for grandma. Alcoholic drinks and the speculoos waffle quite tasty as well. Staff was very accommodating by finding us a dry table on the patio during the rainstorm. All friendly, low volume music, nice breeze on patio, lively vibe but not overly noisy.

We found this place on a rainy day and they had amazing food and service. We originally found a table outside under the canvas awning, but the rain was dripping through, so our server was nice enough to wipe down a new table for us. We shared a raclette burger, alpenrosti, chicken salad, and flank steak. All the meat was cooked perfectly and the cheese tasted amazing. Dessert was the spéculoos waffle with a heavenly honey vanilla walnut ice cream! This place is highly recommended and a short 800 meter walk along the water from the Interlaken Ost Bahnhof.

Stumbled across this restaurant during our last night in Switzerland and it was the best dinner of our trip! Our waiter Dominik was so attentive, funny and helpful and was also non-stop running around making sure everyone was enjoying their experience. All the staff were so attentive, funny and welcoming. The Berner Sennen Roesti was delicious and you should sit outside for a beautiful sunset view of the mountains. Beautiful restaurant right in the center of town across from the park where all the paragliders land. We thoroughly enjoyed our super delicious food (Rosti, beef tartar … etc) and wine. Our waiter, Dominik, was very welcoming and fun to talk to (he speaks lots of languages). He helped us order best traditional Swiss food. We really enjoyed the food and service at this restaurant and view is great too. Would recommend to anyone who comes to Interlaken.

Great cuisine, nice staff, but the restaurant manager Dominik (7/2023) is absolutely unfriendly, socially incompetent and should be replaced by his deputy or someone else. Sorry Dominik… absolutely misbehaved twice!

I passed by the restaurant accidentally. The food, scenery and service were very good, and the price was cheaper than expected! Sitting outdoors can directly enjoy the mountain view, which is very comfortable! The waiter was very enthusiastic and patient in recommending meals, and I was very satisfied with the meal I ordered based on his suggestions.

The Hapimag charm may not be for everyone, but the restaurant is excellent. Very attentive and friendly service. Child friendly.

Waited 35 minutes for a burger in the almost empty restaurant, when the food came it was cold. The bun was soggy as if it had been put through a car wash (29.- for a burger) The service works like the Swiss military, camouflaged and hoping that you won't be seen. Unfortunately, you can't say that about the cleaning power that cleaned the toilets. They also roughed the occupied toilet cubicle with full effort. At the end, the half-full mineral water was cleared away, but hey, we only paid for half the bottle. Once and never again.

Unfortunately the service is not attentive at all, you had to point everything out to them. The food was really very very good

We had our lunch here and it was amazing. Good food and service was really good :) atmosphere was also great. We stayed outside. Definitely a place to have lunch when you're in Interlaken!

It was our first time in Switzerland. We ordered fondue, beer and ice cream for the kids. Their fondue was so good! The staff were super friendly and surprisingly they said “ Terima kasih” means thank you in Bahasa. Yes we’re from Indonesia. Kevin has wonderful service for us. I will definitely come back when in Interlaken again.

Considering it was my first time in Switzerland, I was extremely impressed with both the food and service I received here. I ordered the traditional hash brown, which, as an Australian, made me think of a small fried potato rectangle with nothing else added. However, the hash brown I received was both eye catching and mouth watering, literally the best potato dish I’ve ever eaten. The service was exquisite and I felt as if I was part of a family; so shoutout to Kevin Keller for providing amazing service. Would definitely recommend and I will definitely come back when I’m in Interlaken next

We really enjoyed their fondue, beer, and coffee. The staff were very accommodating and helpful, especially Mark Sanchez and Kevin Keller, who made sure we got everything we need with their wonderful service. We will definitely be back when we visit Interlaken again.

Horrible treatment! I went to ask if we could eat 5 people, they were most unpleasant, they don't have tables. I tell them if I can go inside, it's empty, and they say no. I tell him if smoking is allowed outside, since we don't want to be in an area contaminated by tobacco and smoke, he tells me yes, you can smoke. So it seems horrible to me that they force you to eat in a place contaminated by tobacco and smoke, and on top of that, that they are so rude and unpleasant when talking to you. We do not recommend it, there are no places that serve you much better in this area!

Holy cow do I love cheese fondue and a Hugo spritz!!!!!!

We wanted some fondue and stumbled upon this place! Love the bread, cheese, and potatoes. But the best was definitely their Hugo spritz. Mark and Dominik were fantastico! Ice cream also delicious. Great view.

The entire experience was amazing! The food was incredible along with the Hugo Spritz we ordered. 10/10 would recommend! Can’t beat the view of the mountains either!

Love this place! The staff was super accommodating with a last minute large group. Specifically, Andrea was able to adapt to our requests and answer questions kindly. More than full with a portion of fondue.

Went in with a group of eight on a Wednesday with no reservation, and was able to get a table no problem. We paid about 25-30 francs each for fondue and wine (very affordable for interlaken). I was most impressed with the staff…Andrea and Bella were fantastic and made us feel so welcome and answered all of our questions!! Would definitely come back.

Due to the weather we sat inside and ordered 2 homemade cakes. Once plums and once chestnuts. Both were very fine. The staff was friendly. It is advisable to make a reservation on nice days, especially at lunchtime and evening time. The restaurant belongs to the Hapimag Hotel. The toilets can therefore be found at reception.

My experience in this restaurant was actually positive until i was about to pay for the meal. There was this waitress (didn't catch her name) during my time in the restaurant that soured my experience. When I told her that I wanted the bill for the meal, told me that she will get it right away. However she asked another waiter who I had not interacted with to pass me the bill which was in a hard cover book. Unknowingly, I thought he had asked me whether I wanted dessert and i mistakenly thought it was a dessert menu. With this miscommunication and waiting over 15 minutes for a bill that i thought I would receive, I asked the same waitress for the bill again to her using a condescending tone towards me saying that I did not want to pay for the meal. (Absurd) After which i clarified with her that there is a misunderstanding with how the bill was presented to me via another waiter (who was very energetic and great by the way). She proceeded to scorn at me which is very unprofessional from a waitress that is supposed to be representing a hotel/resort establishment in a touristy town like interlaken. In the end, I waited an additional 5 minutes for my bill which was presented to me by the waiter who was energetic and cordial with his customers. Please step up your (waitress who served me) service and you are lucky that your colleague is providing good vibes and did a great job with the service recovery. Not too sure why you thought I wouldn't want to pay for a meal that I enjoyed. Have the common decency to apologise for the miscommunication and not ask another waiter to fix your mistake. Left the restaurant angry. Btw upon reading the reviews i can confirm that the waiter that was cordial and energetic was Mark. To you, thanks for the service it was a bright spark in a sad ending for the meal.

Aarmiihle was fantastic! Perfect location and even better staff. Andrea accommodated our walk in party of 5 and Mark provided us with suggestions for things to do in the area! Will definitely come back here in the future !

While it was hard to find a restaurant that only sold fondue for one person, I just stopped by and had it, and it was delicious! I haven't tried fondue from other restaurants, so I can't compare, but I was satisfied. The staff were also friendly. In particular, the staff member who took care of my table, Mark, was so cheerful and enjoyable!

The clerks are kind. I love andrea and mark. I drop my for twice but they bring it right away. Thank you so much. I recommend this place.
