Absolutely loved their hearty delicious dishes. Super friendly and attentive staff treats you like a regular.

The flavors of my goulash were rich and deep, the meat was tender and juicy, simply a culinary delight. The atmosphere of the restaurant, especially with the mill wheel, and the friendliness of the staff rounded the whole thing off. I am extremely satisfied with my experience here and am already looking forward to my next visit. Highly Recommended! Greetings from the old town 🏆

Wonderful experience! We actually just wanted to have a quick dinner and then move on. But we liked the homely atmosphere, the great service and the fine food so much that we threw our plan aside and stayed seated. We really liked the mix of local pub and exquisite regional cuisine with very attentive and nice service and we would be happy to come back!

Ambience friendly and familiar for children and dogs (even with water and food for our smallest), dinner fine and beautifully served. Will definitely come back ☺️.

Be very cautious: a tourist trap! Even if you order a beer, eat a full menu and spend chf60 p.p, they charge you chf2.50 for tap water… (calling it Bern wasser). Never been cheated like that in my life! Spoiled my dinner and evening! Never will come back to such a place 🤮 dishonest. Definitely No tips!

The Mühlirad has a very nice team and is also extremely dog-friendly (there are even dishes for dogs). The taste of the food is relatively good, but some of it could be presented a little nicer (e.g. Cordonbleu). The atmosphere is cozy, but the decoration is a bit too ornate for my taste... :)

There are hardly any cozier places in Bern. The historic restaurant is full of atmosphere and hospitality. The welcome is extremely warm and courteous, so that you feel at home right from the start. The varied menu offers classics but also surprises. The trout from Rubigerhof is cooked to perfection and garnished with wonderfully fresh seasonal vegetables. A feast for the eyes and the palate. The wine list, which has very moderate prices, also offers everything your heart desires. We'll be back, that's for sure!

Beautiful restaurant furnished with attention to detail in the middle of the Matten district in Bern. The passion for gastronomy is reflected not only in the fantastic food but also in the service. Simply great! The hostess serves with charm and humor. The terrace is very cozy and somewhat hidden from the street with little traffic. Definite insider tip away from the well-known tourist corners. If you want to combine your visit to the restaurant with sightseeing, you can do so by visiting the Bärengraben, the Marzilli or the Minster.

What can I say, very good food! From salad to dessert! And the cocktails are A1! Would even come just to sip a cocktail.

Suboptimal welcome culture... After a telephone request, we were rudely turned away because of a possible change in the weather ("We have to clean everything up!...)

The location is great. The waiter was attentive and pleasant. The food was average and the chef made rounds to enquire about his food, but having skipped our table altogether, didn’t get a chance to tell him personally. Maybe this establishment that is getting good reviews by the local guides does not want tourists business??

Really enjoyed the ambience and vibe - Swiss cottage blending perfectly with the beautiful scenary. Only 2 minutes walk downhill from the bridge. Decent food and drinks, good services, price is also very reasonable, can't ask for more with the hidden gem.

We stopped at Restaurant Mühlirad for a meal during our visit to the beautiful city of Bern. It’s in a gorgeous location in Bern Old Town, set at the base of the Nydeggbrücke. As it was a warm night, we opted to eat outside, and it was a great location for a relaxed meal watching the world go by. We opted for a sharing platter of Swiss meats and cheeses to start, which was stunning. The selection was vast, and really showcased the quality Swiss ingredients. For the main course, I thoroughly enjoyed my Cordon Bleu, which was crispy and flavoursome. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his beef fillet dish too. The dishes were all very well cooked and the portions were generous. The waitress that looked after us was very friendly and welcoming and did a great job of looking after us. I’d highly recommend Restaurant Mühlirad to anyone looking for a delicious meal in Bern. It’s a great location and friendly staff make it the perfect place to enjoy some Swiss cuisine.

I went down the long stairs from the side of the bridge. You can spend a calm time away from the hustle and bustle. They were very attentive to explaining the menu and caring for the children. I was concerned about the smell of fish dishes.

All ingredients from the area. A very pleasant interior and not as cramped as in some other restaurants. Great service and a varied selection of dishes, although there are also many vegetarian (if not vegan) options. Bavarian light beer with it. Perfect.

Children's portion for below-average bolognese (far too much bouillon) costs 25 francs. Is absolutely not recommended. I have never seen such röschti, much too soggy and burnt. Service was very nice and accommodating.

Hidden from the most distracted because to reach it from the center you have to go down a rather steep wooden staircase, it impresses with its very quiet location. Once inside you can feel an environment of tranquility and rest, it is very clean, tidy and quiet with background music that does not disturb. You can speak quietly without having to shout to be heard, the kindness of the staff is very pronounced. The dishes... A marvel of taste and the vegetarian dishes are also very varied so as not to make anyone feel uncomfortable. It's a great place and I really enjoyed myself.

A beautiful restaurant in the Mattenquartier of Bern's old town. In the outdoor area it has a tree that, together with the plants, creates a homely atmosphere. The food was delicious, seemed fresh and prepared with love. The FISCHER'S FLITZER is simply because of this of the name to recommend. My next visit will be in winter so I can enjoy the beautiful You can also experience the interior. Only the “DU” has an effect on sedate and older guests condescending and should be avoided. Personally, however, this didn't bother me. A magnifique restaurant in the Matten district of the old town of Berne. The exterior is a tree with plants that contribute to the creation of a warm atmosphere. The nourriture is delicious, fraîche and prepared with love. The FISCHER'S FLITZER is recommended by the name. If you visit the outdoors in winter, you will also benefit from the interior space. The "TOI" ensemble is condescendant to the clients plus age and devrait etre évité. Personnelment, cela ne m'a pas dérangé.

We found this place quite by chance, during a walk with the family. We went back there because we found the food to be good; the menus are very very good in terms of quality and price. Sometimes they “revisit” the dishes to innovate. The staff very welcoming and friendly 😊 Everything and very clean. There is also takeaway!

Very charming and beautiful place, the customer service is spectacular although the menu is only in German, but the waitresses have no problem explaining everything you need, we got the starter and two main meals and 3 cokes for 112 chf, it's fine to eat in a nice place, they also allowed dogs to enter, that seems like a plus point to us

A very nice and cozy restaurant. It's rather small in size, which means it exudes a certain charm. The staff very friendly and accommodating. We had a company event and therefore a closed company. The food was very good, portions were small, but people were happy to refill them! I think it's great, better than throwing half of it away. I can happily recommend the Mühlirad restaurant!

Very good restaurant. I discovered the mix of salad, red fruits (ripe, blackcurrant, strawberries...), pumpkin seeds and pine nuts with an excellent trout fillet! 👍. I highly recommend. The waitress is very professional and smiling.

THE restaurant to go to! Perfect welcome, both the waitress and the chef were smiling, very friendly and even made the effort to speak French in this part of German Switzerland. The dishes are excellent, very tasty, refined but in good portions. The setting is very pretty, and the restaurant is located below in a rather quiet street I highly recommend !

Very good and inexpensive lunch

After a day in Bern we ended it by eating at restaurant Mühlirad. A hidden gem in Bern. Quiet place to enjoy the food. Service was very friendly and welcoming! We took a children's menu for the kids. They were even allowed to order more without any extra costs. What a service! Parking was easy on the other side of the water. Definitely a place to visit again.

Very cute location that's a little hidden away from the touristy area. You have to go down some old wooden stairs from the bridge that goes over the Aare to the bear park. The service was great and the salad was delicious. We also ordered a burger, but that wasn't particularly great. Regardless, we'd recommend stopping by for the ambience if you want to enjoy a drink in a quiet spot in the evening. Definitely go if you like salad with a sour raspberry vinaigrette.
