Game time in November: The saddle of venison was served in two courses, and I was really impressed by both the tender meat and the delicious side dishes - a real bravo to the kitchen. The Sihlhalde's extensive wine list promises a lot, but the limited selection by the glass, which only included two red wines, was disappointing. Unfortunately, the service did not refill mineral water during the main course. It remains unclear whether this was intended to provoke an additional order of a glass of wine. We also had to ask for another piece of bread. It would be desirable to expand the open bar in order to also meet the needs of drivers. Who wants to drink a bottle of wine that has already been opened and shaken during the car ride at home?

Wow, what a restaurant has wanted to eat at this restaurant for a long time, it finally happened! Simply fantastic from the first to the last course. Common dishes cooked deliciously. The service is attentive and the secluded garden is a dream. We will dine at this beautiful restaurant again soon.

The consistent menu, cooked to a high standard, is what makes Sihlhalde special. This lunch we had the calamari and the wonderful veal chop. The chop was nice and tender and the plate wasn't overloaded with all sorts of side dishes. Vegetables and fried potatoes as supporting actors, without any frills decoration. The main star on the plate was clearly the cutlet and a fine gravy as a side dish. The cheese afterwards was at just the right temperature. The way it has to be. The finale was a delicious desert (with a candle). It's fitting for a big birthday 😊 The only thing that would have been nice was an amuse bouche.

The menu at Sihlhalde is nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. It showcases a beautiful harmony of innovative and classic dishes, each carefully crafted to take you on a gastronomic journey. The appetizers were a tantalizing prelude to the main event – I especially loved the Braised Ravioli with Perigord Truffle Sauce, which featured fresh, locally sourced ingredients that danced on my palate with a symphony of flavors. The paired Riesling to it was well balanced. The main courses were equally impressive, featuring dishes such as Sole Fillet with Champagne Sauce and Emmental Veal Steak with Morel Cream Sauce. Each dish was expertly prepared, leaving me eager to explore the rest of the menu and their wines. While I lean towards the Bordeaux the Italian alternative was well selected. The cheese course was a delightful surprise, featuring an assortment of cheeses served with a delicious Plum Chutney. Pick and mix is their style here and the cheese waggon featured l'époisses and a bleu de chèvre that pushed the tastebuds literally. Dessert was a magnificent Rhubarb Tarte Tatin with Sour Cream Ice Cream. The warm, caramelized rhubarb paired wonderfully with the cool, tangy ice cream, providing a delightful end to the meal. Welldone Sihlhalde impressing us with the exquisite menu, outstanding service, and charming ambiance in a low-key environment with a memorable experience. we surely will return!

Alles vom Feinsten. Natürlich sind die Preise hier höher als in einem Durchschnittsrestaurant, dafür bekommt man aber auch excellentes Essen, feine Weine und einen tollen Service. Die Portionen sind grosszügig. Wir hatten das Gourmetmenue und konnten nach den ersten 3 Gängen vorzu entscheiden, ob wir noch weitere Gänge möchten. Angerichtet wie in einem bürgerlichen durchschnittlichen Restaurant und darum auch viel zu teuer. Das Preis/Leistungs Verhältnis stimmt überhaupt nicht. Und der Service, naja, den gabs. Das beste war der Wein ... und das allerschechteste ... die Corona Abstandsregeln der Tische werden bei weiten nicht eingehalten. Da wäre ich vorsichtig als Gastgeber. I was surprised to find a Michelin Star restaurant within walking distance of our apartment in Zürich. So we booked for my birthday meal, shortly after restaurants had re-opened in Zürich during Covid times.I'm not sure if it was the restaurant being overly full, resulting in us being relegated to a viewless back room, or the slow service, or the actually quite boring food, or perhaps all three; but we walked away puzzling how Sihlhalde ever qualified for a Michelin star.A key for me is that the food should be something we could not easily recreate at home. Only the first of my six course menu met that definition: one of the chefs signature dishes with beautifully fine mushroom ravioli with truffle shavings. I could really taste the truffle and, as it transpired, just tripling up on that would probably have left me satisfied and happy. My wife's starter was a half-lobster which was dry and bland. (Lobster is patently not a Swiss ingredient, perhaps Sihlhalde could focus on more local ingredients, particularly during covid times.)The remaining dishes were all something we felt we could have cooked ourselves, with a little practice. The fish was well cooked, on a nice plate, but needed something more. The main was some steak which was well cooked and tender, but served with a couple of token vegetable bits and some boring puree, and a long-long way from a great A5 (or even A1) Wagyu steak.The cheese course was literally a selection of 6 cheeses on a plate, with no description and no accompaniments, except for the bread that came with the meal (which was actually nice fresh bread). The cheeses were nice, but a description of what you're eating really would have helped. The cheeses are not exactly something that the restaurant makes themselves.The desert I couldn't finish despite being a little hungry. Our list of favorites has remained remarkably stable over the years. For the past 2+ years, a new entry, our favorite of favorites, is Sihlhalde Smolinsky in Gattikon, a short drive from downtown Zurich. We like each other and are able to chat in isolation, but this is not what a restaurant experience should be and certainly not in a strange attic room where we could watch the ladies arrive to use the toilet.The food was lovely and when the man who I think is the boss popped in, he was lovely too. Why would he allow this? If we had been told they were full we would happily have returned. We wanted some more water but there were not staff to ask. We would have loved some more wine, but there were no staff to ask. We would have stayed for coffee and dessert but there were no staff to ask.Eventually another 3 guests were shown to the other table and we were able to ask for the bill. This other party were really unhappy and asked to go downstairs or outside. They spoke perfect German although were American.
