A contender for the ugliest restaurant in Switzerland. Shabby 80s charm paired with a train station feeling. The service helpless. The mulled wine was good, I didn't eat it.

We've been living and working in Switzerland for about 6 years but never got so disappointed as here. First, a disco music would never be expected for a "cozy" restaurant when all you want is relax and enjoy your dinner, not to dance at electronic atmosphere. After, I can't really complain about my side of the order, which was a salad and Entrecôte, was good. For my girlfriend got served a same type of salad but unfortunately somehow with a little metal ring on it. Luckily enough, she realized before and saw it on the bowl. Considering the danger this sounds like, the waitress told us "the maximum we can do is give 20% discount on the salad". Just unacceptable for this kind of situation. Eventually, after the lady spoke with the chef and we ended up obviously not paying for it. For the main course, my girlfriend had lamb chops which were completely dry and mostly was just impossible to chew. We also complained, and understand that are situations that can happen, even that it's possible to make it seem better afterwards, which did not happen. After all dinner, we waited about 15 minutes and was actually going for desserts in the same place but from the 2 waiters, they passed right next to the table many times, none bothered to ask about desserts (in a restaurant where was about 4 tables busy). We then eventually stood up and paid at the counter. Very little effort about guest comfort, empathy or satisfaction. To whoever runs this place, attention to guest happiness should be priority, coming from kitchen or from service. And again, been living here and was not the first time on this restaurant but definitely the last.

They advertise food that is not available. We went in, sat down and we're disappointed.

I decided to believe the good reviews and it was in vain. This is literally the worst food I've ever eaten in a restaurant. It feels like the chefs themselves haven’t tried what they cook. And we waited for food for about an hour, although there were few people in the hall. This was my worst trip to a restaurant. I didn’t even think it was possible to cook so poorly. Expensive, long, not tasty

We had two dinners here, the summer menu was especially excellent. We return for second dinner was due to this reason. Thanks chef and the management. This is Wengen, do expect the staff and chefs are pretty busy during meal times. Please have some patience to wait for your food (or drinks). We can see that they are almost working non-stop to serve the customers. They do appreciate some gratuity.

Slow service. Expensive food and average at best.

They are not transparent about pricing. I was charged an automatic "tip" of 10% for using a credit card. This was not disclosed on the menu or other signs beforehand. Instead this was disclosed at the end during the process of paying. Also, we waited an hour for food. During that hour, we were ignored several times by multiple waiters. When the food came, the meat was gamey and salty. I did not want to give a tip.

I walked in to make a reservation the day of and luckily there was an availability for later that evening. My family got to the restaurant that evening and our waiter was unwilling to spend any time with us. We had questions about meals/wanted recommendations but he just waved us off and looked away like we were slowing him down (we weren't). We wanted the fondue and the menu said we could get the cheese one without the wine (it makes it bitter). My dad asked for it without the wine and the waiter refused, saying they couldn't do it. I pointed out that it was on the menu and the waiter said it was a mistake. We got one cheese fondue, one thai curry, and one mixed salad. It took 45-50 minutes for the dishes to come out. We wish they just gave us the salad first because by the time the food came our drinks were done. Cheese fondue was still solid and the raw veggies on the side were needed. Thai curry was average but the salad with the french dressing was good. We got chocolate fondue for dessert and it was fine - the fruits spread wasn't expansive/generous. Okay so this is a nuanced situation my family observed and we were all quite thrown off. A big Indian family came in and asked to be seated, and the waiters said no (makes sense, they didn't have the capacity for 20 people). Then just the kids in the family (6-7 mid twenties Indian kids) asked if they could just be seated, no parents. The restaurant definitely had room and the waiter again said no and that the kitchen was closed. The kids left and not even a minute later a white family of 4 walked in and were seated. The waiter said "The kitchen is closing but I can squeeze you in" but then proceeded to get them a full course meal. Worse than that, even if anyone will say it's a 4 person vs 7 person issue, 30 minutes after this happened another older white couple walked in asking for fondue. They were seated graciously. We definitely felt a strong level of disinterest and bias against Indian families. We are Indians from America (no accent, no fuss, not annoying anyone) and still felt like not a single waiter came to us to check in. At the end, even though the check comes with included service, it asked if you want to add more service tip. I'm honestly really disappointed about what we saw towards that Indian family and don't appreciate the attitude of the team. Mediocre food doesn't make up for uncomfortable service.

We waited standing for 10 minutes. Not a single staff acknowledged us or said anything to us about tables. Served people water and did everything else but seat us at a table. They saw us and walked off and stood around talking. Ended up leaving after 10 minutes with no interaction with any staff. Very rude and racist establishment. DO NOT EAT HERE

Excellente service and delicious food.

Firstly, we are not ones to complain and we always support staff and restaurants etc. But this restaurant was on a another level... Waited about 45mins to get 2 soups... But there a surprise... Soup was made from bouillon (stock cube) when we asked the waiter at the end he said yes indeed it was and he apologized. My dad ordered entrecote beef and was asked how he would like it, he said medium. This came as rare, almost bleu. Now there is nothing wrong with Bleu beef but if you ask for medium you should get medium. Waiter was very apologetic at the end and offered a discount and free coffee etc of which we declined and advised that they should be more aware next time. Also during the whole time not a single person came to us to see if everything was ok.

Asked for gluten-free rösti and we removed the cheese so it had no flavor and still got sick In addition the server asks for a good hand with card payment

We lived in the Silberhorn anyway and therefore stayed in the room for a day. I had the Obazda as a starter, the Rösti for the main course and the raspberry sorbet for dessert. The Obazda was tasty, maybe a bit too much salad was served, but it was still ok. The Rösti was super tasty, as was the fondue that my mom had. The sorbet was okay but not outstanding. The service was OK, but not particularly good, as unfortunately one meal was forgotten.

We (family) can really recommend the Silberhorn Stube, the food was very tasty and the staff is very friendly and nice. Why so few guests? Many people eat directly in the hotels in Wengen, which is a shame! You could do more with the ambience in the room! The typical Swiss-Alpine parlor feeling is missing :)

There were three of us in the restaurant, there was another table occupied by two people. Otherwise the restaurant was empty. This was very strange for us. The staff was friendly but unfortunately only spoke English. Music was way too loud and very inappropriate in nature. The food was OK but not anymore. Wouldn't come again for the food. We were then alone in the restaurant. The waitresses had nothing to do but we still had to pour our own wine. When the kitchen door opened, you could see one of the waiters on his cell phone. Wouldn't eat there again. The completely empty restaurant was very confusing.

In short, there is a lack of everything. The second star goes to the service, which desperately tries to somehow eliminate all the shortcomings. The poor… By the way, you can see “Bündner Capuns” in the picture. I have to add it because capuns obviously don't look like this and, above all, don't taste like this dish.

Excellent service. Great for celiac as they have good choice of gluten free options and the staff is knowledgable about allergens.

The restaurant is very cozy. The service is very friendly and helpful, the food (rösti) is rich. Overall, a nice evening.

Lady server was rude. Asked to make a dish vegetarian and they forgot. Said they would remake it and the plate came back 10 seconds later- obviously they just picked it out. I confronted the waiter and she said they remade the order. After pressing about it she said they picked it out but redid the top layer. I said I don’t want it. Also, lentil was undercooked. The center of each lentil was white. Bad service. Bad waiter and bland food. The guy waiter seemed very nice though.

The food was great, the service is super, clean, neat and comfortable place for eating.

Nice food ! The lamb was juicy and flavorful, the vegetables really surprised me with their freshness and sweetness, the topping radish sprouts were just amazing ! Kind and quick services, nothing to say, definitely worth going.

Went for dinner with my wife. I ordered the salmon mediterranean style and it was very disappointing. Veggies with it had no flavor, rice was overcooked, and the salmon was just okay... she ordered the veggetarian rosti and it was just okay. It did not have much flavor to it. Do not recommend

Probably the best restaurant in Wengen. Typical Swiss food, well cooked and prepared. Prices typical for the region.

The food was very good as was the service. We had the salmon, fondue, chicken, and rosti and everyone loved their meal. The waiters were very good too. Overall a great experience.

We arrived late in the rain and were happy to find Terrasse open. I’m glad I hadn’t read the reviews before. The food was WONDERFUL. We’ve been there twice so far, and have reservations for our last evening. I don’t know how it was in the past but it is wonderful now.

I am sad to see so many poor reviews. Maybe we ordered the right things? Definitely a must visit place for us! We stayed in Wengen for a week and ate here several times. It was by far our favorite. The food was so fresh and delicious and one of the more reasonably priced places in Wengen. Service was a little slow but we found the staff to be friendly and welcoming.

Today 11july 2022 at 13:20 me and my family came to get in met by a lady who really integrating us. When I said now we are 3 people and 2 more likely coming. Her answer no I want to know exactly your no. You have to be 100% sure Though the Resturant was empty Then I cancel it completely with this rude manner of this lady staff I really don’t recommend it at all

Experience that will not be repeated in this restaurant. Rösti with cheese, without any taste. Then pork cordon bleu, which tastes like the meat has passed its date, even by the smell I am not sure that the meat has not passed its date. Asked for a bottle of sparkling water, we were brought a carafe of still water. A service clearly to be reviewed. So far, I don't recommend this place.

Had the pork with rice, veg and mushroomsauce. Meat was slighly tough to eat but rest was delicious. Beatiful view from the restuarant. Service was great. The apple strudle was good.

Excellent food quality and very friendly service. However, the "Terrasse" outdoor seating is quite misleading: there is only a very tiny ground level outdoor seating area literally right next to the street, it is *not* on top as some photos and the large sign might indicate (that is part of the spa ofthe hotel). When I made a phone reservation for 11 people on the terrasse, they did not tell me that, which I found a bit dishonest. Nevertheless, the food was great, so I would still highly recommend it. I hope the owners will be more clear about their "terrasse" with future customers!

When the chef himself proudly comes out of the kitchen with his creation "Matthias's Burger" and explains how exactly the dish came about, how he worked on the rolls with the local baker and organized the lamb with the butcher, then you expect something completely special. And that's what you get. Perfectly cooked patties, a great peppermint mayonnaise, a very tasty bun, great toppings and the best seasoned sweet potato fries I've ever eaten. Absolutely sensational! The service was pleasantly relaxed and friendly, and the wine was also very tasty. I can only warmly recommend the restaurant, and especially the burger.

Last week in there, the most rude waitress i have ever seen, she was rude, always in a hurry, and swearing in her own language. The owner should employ better his employees

Nous avions la demie pension 5 plats. Le menu commence par une ridicule tranche de saumon fumé préparée quelques heures avant car le saumon est sec!!! Cela continue par une soupe de pommes de terre insipide... mais le pire vient avec la 3eme entrée. Salade de thon pois chiches et oignons: quelle honte voilà qu’arrive sur notre assiette du thon en boîte, des pois chiches en boîte et un peu d’oignons. Quel choc osé servir cela dans un 4 étoiles!!!! Le plat rassure mais les fromages sont ridiculement servis. Quelle déception à éviter absolument. Et pour finir la serveuse nous facture les plats alors que nous bénéficions de la 1/2 pension. Dommage...

Demi pension avec 5 plats. La 1ère entrée était sublime, le potage et la salade manquait un peu de saveur. Le plat principale quelles petites erreurs, mais qui ce mangeait sans aucun problème. Le plateau de fromage manquait un peu de choix et le dessert simple mais bon. La carte des vin pourrait avoir un peu plus de vin Suisse.Le personnel était sympathique et professionnel. Nous avons dans l'ensemble bien mangé dans un restaurant calme et agréable. Le petit déjeuner et copieux et varié.

Amazing location, next to Wengen rail station, excellent spa with outdoor whirlpool, great and accommodating staff, delicious food in the dining room and restaurant, very competent bartender at Bar Anonym. Great views of Jungfrau.

Very nice experience. Good menu, including Classic Swiss dishes and an extremely friendly and attentive (in our case Dutch) hostess. We ate in this restaurant two evenings during our stay (dogs also allowed!) and enjoyed it both times. Good service, delicious food and a nice atmosphere.

Yesterday we were in this restaurant for the first time from the first moment we got the food we had the large salad plate with chicken my wife with salmon and my son the cordon bleu we have to say we have never had better food than there and we have Owned a restaurant myself and know what we're talking about. What's particularly worth highlighting is the top service - you can see and notice that absolute professionals are at work We would be happy to come back and would be happy to recommend the Silberhorn Restaurant at any time

Nous avions le souper compris dans la 1/2 pension, avec 3 entrées, 1 très bon poisson en plat principal et 1 glace en dessert. Le service était impeccable avec du personnel très à l'écoute et nous avons pu remplacer une des entrées qui ne nous plaisait pas, par une salade. La cuisine n'était pas très raffinée, mais bonne.

A Wengen dove tutto è decisamente caro, questo ristorante va controcorrente. Nonostante l'ambiente elegante, la musica soffusa e il personale preparato e gentilissimo, la carta è assolutamente gestibile per il portafoglio. Ottimo ribeye a 35 Fr, roesti in diverse combinazioni sui 20 fr. Mangiato bene. Ristorante decisamente consigliabile

Katastrofä 30 minutes to drink, and forever to eat.....

Wir hatten den gemischten Salat, den Linseneintopf und das Pilz Stroganoff. Gemüse war nicht weichgekocht, Linseneintopf wässerig, Salat (vermutlich) mit Fertigdressing. Wir haben uns über den Eintopf beschwert, worauf wir ihn immerhin nicht bezahlen mussten. Jedoch war auch alles andere nicht wirklich schmackhaft...Service war relativ freundlich.

點了芝士火鍋，按照店長的建議加了酒。 網上的人大多都說芝士火鍋不好食，但是這家很好呀。還 點了鹿肉和紅酒，都很好，看出是用心經營。 如果白天用餐, 相信景色一定令人讚嘆。

Unfortunately I don't have a very good rating. The hash browns had a burnt taste. The veal sausage is pink on the inside (it's been called on demand for a long time). Had a Schnipo with vegetables, everything had the same seasoning. But the cola is really great.

Wir kamen Hungrig nach langer Zugreise an. Und freuten uns auf eine gute Bernerrösti. Die war halber Roh und kalt. Das Personal nahms teilnahmslos an, gabs in der Küche weiter, kommentar dazu keine, nicht mal ein sorry. Nicht zu empfehlen; es gibt aber gute Speiserestaurants in Wengen.

We shared a fondue entry and it was more than enough for 2 people.(24 euros) Wine was only $3.50 euros per glass and very good. Staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. With all that is said about high prices in Switzerland, this place was very reasonable and food was good!

Food was disappointing. We tried three dishes; two were below average and one was disgusting. I was tempted to give an additional star for the nice ambiance and view of the mountains, but the roundly disappointing food means I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Fun bar at night because of the good live music BUT do not order the pizza. The waiter actually told my daughter he couldn’t alter the pizza as it was FROZEN PIZZA!!!! She ordered it anyway and then told me and I was like oh no! It came and it was disgusting for $24. WHAT A JOKE

Everything we had was great. Things that were particularly good include the mashed potatoes, the salad with caramelized goat cheese, and the chocolate fondue.

Die meisten Restaurants in Wengen sind Hotelrestaurants, und als Nichtgäste suchen wir gerne nach Restaurants, die nicht allzu sehr nach Hotelrestaurants aussehen, wenn Sie verstehen, was ich meine. Das Restaurant Silberhorn ist hübsch eingerichtet, der Service ist gut und das Essen ist traditionell schweizerisch, wobei es sich normalerweise um Käse und Kartoffeln in verschiedenen Kombinationen handelt. Es hat auch eine attraktive Dachterrasse mit Blick über das Tal. Es ist kein herausragendes Restaurant, aber es ist auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert und einer der besseren Orte, die wir in Wengen gefunden haben.

We had a nice meal here after a long day. It is conveniently situated near the train station and has nice views across the valley.Their menu had plenty of choices and the prices seemed somewhat lower than many of the other restaurants in the area. We both had the Rosti, I had the meat version, better half had the veg option. The food itself was good and came in generous portions.The service was friendly and un-intrusive.

Awesome place. Super friendly stuff. Food was astonishingly good for its price. And as a bonus they obviously renovated the interior - really cozy spot now. I hope they don't change after the review since I for sure plan to visit it again. Thank you guys. Good job!

Essen schrecklich langweilig, Service langsam, wenn auch nett, Butter hart wie Stein, Papierservietten. Ein Student, der versucht, ein Date zu beeindrucken, könnte ein besseres Essen als dieses zubereiten.

An dem Tag, als wir ankamen, hatten wir dort zu Mittag gegessen, toller Service und gutes Essen. Ich kann dieses Restaurant gerne weiterempfehlen.

Tolles Mittagessen am Neujahrstag! Atemberaubende Aussicht, gutes Essen. Der Service war etwas langsam, aber wir waren zu sehr damit beschäftigt, die Sonne und die Aussicht zu genießen, um sich darum zu kümmern!

Essen mit Familie (3 Kinder), Fondue war nicht nach unserem Geschmack (mit Emmenthaler Käse), Raclette war ok.

Good restaurant, reasonable price (for a Swiss restaurant, 28 CHF for fondue 1 person, 18 CHF for the veal sausage). It's the only one who serves 1-person fondue/raclette that I've found. The dishes are good, the portions generous. The service is very amiable. It's nothing exceptional but I leave a 5 star because this restaurant deserves more than the current 2.5 stars (it should be like 4)

Wir haben unsere erste Nacht in Wengen besucht. Als wir ankamen, waren vielleicht 5 Tische im Speisesaal, die viele freie Tische übrig ließen. Wir setzten uns sofort hin und dann warteten wir, warteten und warteten. Es hat fast 2 Stunden gedauert, bis uns 2 Gänge serviert wurden - Fondue zum Teilen und dann das Hauptgericht. Es gab zwei Kellner, die beschäftigt schienen, aber der Speisesaal war nicht voll. Vielleicht hat die Küche in dieser Nacht auch Personal vermisst. Was auch immer der Grund war, es machte ein langes Abendessen. Das Essen war sehr gut - sobald man bedient wurde.

My family arrived in Wengen around 8pm at night looking for a place to eat. The restaurant was not busy and we were seated immediately, which was great. We got a beer and also tap water for the table. The beer came out fairly quick, but we had to ask again for the water and also ask an additional one time after the dark-haired waitress said she would be right with us. She came and took our main order, and 10minutes passed, still no water or bread. We asked again, and it finally came out. Great. Our order took another 40 minutes to come out, to the point where the waitress had to tell us ‘it would just be a few more minutes’, even though a few people and a family had come after us and had already been served. The food was ok, not great but definitely not bad. As we got the bill though, we realized then that 1L of tap water set us back 5 CHF, a ridiculous price especially when we were given no heads up. It took us 2hours+ to eat a basic meal, and on top of that we were charged for tap water.I would never come back to this place with friends or family, and I would recommend eating at a more hospitable and service-oriented restaurant than this. Very disappointing.

My first night in Wengen - gotta have something traditional, right? I had a delicious tomato cream soup with croutons and basil followed by a veal sausage with red wine/onion sauce and rosti. Who could ask for more? The service was very good; the food was delicious. The portions were quite generous. Definitely recommended. Come hungry!

Da wir im Hotel Silberhorn wohnten, haben wir uns an einem Abend für ein Essen im Restaurant entschieden.Der Empfang war freundlich, der Service bemüht. Allerdings kam dann eine 30 Personen Gruppe, direkt neben unseren Tisch und eine Unterhaltung war kaum mehr möglich. Unsere Bitte nach einem ruhigeren Platz wurde nicht wahr genommen und so haben wir dann an einem etwas entfernteren Tisch Platz genommen. Der Service war mit der Gruppe so überfordert, das für normale Gäste keine Zeit mehr blieb. Unser Chateaubriand und es war nicht das erste was wir gegessen haben, wurde zu unserer Verwunderung, aufgeschnitten auf einer Wärmeplatte an den Tisch serviert, haben wir noch nie so erlebt. So konnte das Fleisch dann auf der Platte noch nach garen. Gut das wir eine Flasche Wein und Wasser bestellt hatten, ansonsten hätten wir auf dem trockenen gesessen.Zu gerne hätten wir auch noch ein Dessert genommen, aber keine Chance, da sich niemand mehr bei uns am Tisch hat sehen lassen und waren froh, als wir das Restaurant verlassen hatten und werden sicher nicht mehr wieder kommen.

This restaurant offers classic & Swiss dishes at affordable prices. Whilst the inner dinning room is quite common (except beautiful paintings), it is very cozy and the chairs are very comfortable. The service is excellent even when the restaurant is welcoming groups or has a high occupancy. The dishes are delicious, very well presented and served. The portions are usually quite big so that you don’t necessarily need a starter. Highly recommended for any occasions !

Spent a fabulous long weekend here with friends. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by the manager (PJ) and everyone in his team that we dealt with (front desk, bar staff, restaurant staff, porters, housekeeping staff,etc)' The facilities of this hotel are superb (great spa area with everything needed after a day skiing), great location (opposite train station) and much better than the 'Queen's' hotel I have just stayed in.

Zuvorkommender Service, sehr schmackhaftes Essen. Preis-Leistung vollkommen in Ordnung. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Tolles Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Das Chateaubriand war sehr zart und wirklich à Point gegart. Service nett und unkompliziert.

Went in the evening with a group of friends. There was only one waitress serving both food and drinks. Four of us ordered the pork schnitzel and we asked for a side salad. We eventually received a large bowl of bland salad as a starter. By the time we received the main course we had been there 1.5 hours. The schnitzels were very thin, dry and bland. We received our drinks but had to ask twice for a jug of water. We noticed a couple came in and left after 15 minutes as the waitress had not even asked them for a drinks order. Very disappointing.

Nach einem sehr langen und für die Schweiz erfolgreichen Abfahrtstages genossen wir hier mit 7 Personen ein Abendessen. Ich hatte eine Gulaschsuppe, welche hervorragend schmeckte und auch die Anderen waren mit dem Gebotenen zufrieden. Der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam, trotz Stress! Kann man gerne weiterempfehlen!

We stood for 20 minutes for a waiter to sit us at a table even though it was not busy they couldn’t be bothered to clean 5 empty tables which still had the previous people’s plates and drinks. When we ordered the food came in 2 minutes as if it was a fast food restaurant and it was freezing cold. I ordered veal sausage and it was completely raw. We complained to the waiter who took it away and after waiting half an hour we finally got it back again and it had just been Microwaved. The plate was boiling hot and the sausage was still cold in the centre.

Auf der schmalen Terrasse zum Dorfplatz kann man Sonne tanken und das bunte Treiben beobachten. Dabei ein feines Raclette geniessen. Was will man noch mehr?

We visited this establishment as part of a larger group on a Road Scholar trip. The restaurant is centrally located close to the Wengen train station. The staff was friendly and attentive. The house wine we ordered (both red and white) was marginal so stick with the cold beer. Our guide ordered cheese fondue for the group which was served with bread square and small potatoes. This was followed by two scoops of local ice cream which was the highlight of the dinner. Our table tried Appenzeller, a Swiss after dinner liquor which was quite good over ice. It's supposed to aid digestion after a heavy meal. I can't comment on the price point of the meal as it was prepaid for our tour. This was a nice place for a little local Swiss favor.

restaurant quasiment complet. Malgré cela, le service était très convenable. L'assiette zurichoise, émincé de veau avec des spätzles et des champignons était très copieuse et de très bonne qualité. Prix correct.

Beau restaurant, au service impeccable dans une salle spacieuse et bien décorée et colorée. La cuisine est généreuse et gouteuse. Service souriant et très efficace.
