Since it was a one-off surgery, I guess they didn't tell me where to sit, but I was told to sit in any available seat. The menu, ordering, and payment are all done at the waiter's timing, so you have no choice but to wait patiently. But that doesn't mean the service is bad. It's just not at the pace of Japanese customer service. The soup and salad were so delicious that my body, which tends to lack vegetables, was impressed.

Not a fancy place and not benifitting from the stunning view, but if you are staying in Mürren for a few days and want a really good meal in a no nonsense place, this is a perfect choice. We popped in mid afternoon on Dec 26 asking to make a reservation, and even though they were fully booked, the server on shift asked if we would be okay sitting in the front section of the restaurant that is very small and not much for decor, but we really wanted fondue for a simple dinner. The same server was our server for dinner. She was very honest with us about portions and convinced us to choose smaller and fewer portions than we thought we should do, and she was absolutely right - we all had the perfect amount. We really appreciated her honesty. Sitting in the front, we realized that this restaurant is popular with locals and regulars, which made it kind of fun to be in the front section with the "in" crowd. The fondue was super boozey and rich - we all loved it! We all also really enjoyed the wine our server recommended. And the dessert!! We didn't get her name, but she was a really fantastic server.

Sadly, we encountered unpleasant behavior by the waitress and inflated charges at the restaurant. Despite wanting to try fondue, we were forced into two portions, with an exorbitant bill of 60 CHF. The fondue, only mediocre, didn't justify the cost. Furthermore, the staff charged an extra 4 CHF unjustly, claiming my friend tasted it. I wouldn't recommend this place due to their bizarre service and hefty price.

Good, hearty meal after a chilly five mile hike served by a friendly and pleasant local hostess. Charming interior in the center of town.

I ate beef tongue and schnitzel, but the beef tongue tasted like Spam and the schnitzel tasted like thinly sliced, grilled pork neck. From the sauce to the meat, it was so delicious that I ate it up. The server with piercings was very friendly and kept checking to see if it was delicious.

The food was pretty good and it was great to have a beer in the mountains. At the end they asked to enter (or not enter) a tip which was odd considering how expensive food is in Switzerland.

Just one word: The lamb fillet ....

A good restaurant to eat when you visit Mürren. We ordered spätzle with vegetables and raclette. Spätzle was really nice!

We enjoyed a traditional meal of sauerbraten with sptaetzle. We finished with apfel strudel and we’re nicely satisfied. Expensive but lovely meal.

If you are planning to enjoy two or three meals in murren, there are much better choices than stagerstubli. First, the location is not that great. Much better views from other restaurants. On top of that, the staff is rude and loud. And food? Nothing to write home about. Strictly so so. Avoid this over-rated restaurant.

The place to be in Mürren. Family atmosphere. Top notch staff. The kitchen is very good.

Käsespätzle was a bit too greasy but otherwise delicious. Schnitzel was not breaded and tasted a bit weak. The sauce was also very runny. Unfortunately I had to deduct a few points.

This stew for 40CHF is just a joke, frozen veggies overcooked just like noodles, sauce without flavour with a lot of flower in it to make it thicker. Also waiting time was really long…

The food was decent but the price was exorbitant for the quality. Yes, even by Switzerland standards. The food wasn't bad and the meat and cheese plate was actually extremely good but there are other options with comparable food for better prices in Murren.

Incredible view of the outdoors and the service was great. Our waitress was very kind and informative. Food was expensive but by Switzerland standards (and being on top of a mountain), this is the best option. I ate the ox tongue to try something new and was pleasantly surprised as it was delicious. Really enjoyed my experience overall.

Home-style restaurant on the main street. Fine food - but very expensive.

If you are a Korean, I recommend not going. I was clearly instructed and sat down at an outdoor table near the main entrance, and while I was waiting, they brought me a menu, but they didn't even take my 15-minute order. I just sat there for 30 minutes. Even though the server wasn't busy as lunch was almost over at 1 o'clock, it was difficult to even see his face after he gave us the menu until a long time later. I went into the store to make a request and asked them to take my order, but there was no response and instead they were busy serving Westerners at the tables near the plaza, especially the female staff. I was about to say something, but I didn't want to blush so I left. It is enough to accept that it is an impure intention, but since it is a place where people can see it, this is only a small amount.

We came here for lunch. Meat and cheese plate was tasty(but it‘s more meat plate with a little cheese)! Beef and pumpkin soups are just ok. Great mountain view!

Great evening here, and excellent, friendly service from Nadja. Nice atmosphere - even though they had a busy evening, they took our reservation and seated us with a view by the window. We had the spaetzl with raclette and tomato soup - both delicious!

I had the baby goat stew, and the SO had the curry. Both were absolutely amazing. You can't go wrong at this place.

The food was delicious. We ordered the goat stew and the stroganoff with spätzle and the stroganoff and spätzle specifically was some of the best I’ve had. It was very busy so the service was just ok but other than that I would highly recommend this place! Make sure to have a reservation because the place was full when I ate at 19:00.

Gem of a place! Food was outstanding. Tender beef and perfect mushrooms in the stroganoff, delicious green salad with lots of fresh veggies and home made dressing that you add. Ox tongue was amazing and perfectly cooked. Lintz cake is house made and several of the after dinner spirits are made by the owner’s sister based upon the abundance of the prior years fruit Closed on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. Best to make reservations, especially on Mondays when many other places close for the day

If your ever in Mürren this place is great, nice and relaxing and very central I recommend the Berner Platte, great local meats and Cheese. Just relax and watch the world go by.

Barely finished eating and had to get this review in. Stägerstübli deserves 5 stars hands down! The spaetzli and rahmschnitzel were spectacular…better than my Swiss in-laws in the US - and they are spectacular cooks! Definitely come here if spending time or hiking through Mürren. It’s not to be missed!

Food was delicious. You need a reservation to sit in a certain part of the restaurant but we were lucky enough to walk up around 6 pm and have plenty of tables available in the non reservation part of the restaurant. My husband and I got two different dishes to share and a salad. Both were so tasty! A little higher priced than other places we’ve eaten since being in Switzerland but the food quality is worth it.

I had cheese fondue, but it was so sour that I could barely eat it. I heard that fondue is a food eaten in the winter. I don't know if it was originally sour or because it tasted sour in the summer, but when I asked about it when paying, the clerk said it wasn't a sour food in the first place..? Please take note if you are going.

Though this listing and the website say the business is open until 11 pm, they close the kitchen at 8 and stop taking orders long before that. My husband attempted to get dinner here, but they refused to serve him and another couple because there was a party in the back. He waited and tried again well before 8, but was told the kitchen was closed. If you're in Murren and plan to eat here, have a backup plan in case they turn you away.

Awesome host, delicious food and breathtaking views. Honestly superb place to dine after a day in the mountains.

The best beef stroganoff I’ve ever had!

This Mürren restaurant doesn't offer fancy views, but they make up for it by providing quality Swiss meals. They have lots of cheeses and use local meats. We particularly enjoyed the beef stroganoff was tasty. Take not the kitchen is often only open from 6:00 to 8:00 and this restaurant is closed on some weekdays.

The foods were delicious and the lady who served us was very energetic and full of good vibes. We really enjoyed our lunch. Thank you very much for the amazing service.

Huge portions of delicious traditional Swiss food. The spaetzle was some of the best I’ve ever had — crispy on the outside but tender and chewy on the inside. The dish I had featured homemade red cabbage sauerkraut, which was also delicious. The local roast beef was tender and well-seasoned, and the sauce was fatty and unctuous, which balanced the meal quite well.

It's expensive like Switzerland. I went up to the top of a pretty mountain and when I went there at lunch time, all the stores were full and there were no seats. I barely got a seat so I sat down and ate. For some reason, it was the most delicious food I had in Switzerland. Especially that grilled pork neck steak + cream sauce that tastes great. Always eat it with noodles on the side. Cream pastry time Good taste recommended recommended recommended The boss of my part-time job is good It's a paradise to have a beer outdoors while looking at the surrounding view. The steak is just so-so.

Food was amazing. Really happy with our dinner there today. My wife had the Raclette and I had the Bernese platter... Plus the Lizer torte, pear sorbette and I had the hot berries with vanilla ice cream. Amazing. But above all, Nadia was such a lovely host! Top recommendations and such a kind spirit.

Best Resturant in Switzerland. Staff is friendly and efficient. Highly recommend the lamb Filet with garlic mayo!!! Delightful.

Simply always nice in the Stägerstübli.

I give the 5th star mainly because of the incredible service provided by the server. Walked us through the menu, made several recommendations, and even took incredible photos of my girlfriend and I. Food-wise, was definitely above average and priced reasonably for a mountain restaurant and the quantity (keeping in mind swiss prices). Dessert was divine! Shoutout to the cake we had (forgot the name).

Excellent raclette! Fondue is delicious, but has to be ordered in double portions. Just share it among 2-3 persons. Beverages are good, but not varied in terms of flavored lattes. Environment is cosy and quiet. Waiters are polite and very helpful. Very unlike the many aloof staff back down in Central Grindelwald. Toilets are very clean and located on 2nd floor.

Great local restaurant and Swiss food!

We really enjoyed our dinner here! The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, but be careful if the weather suddenly worsens. There is an option to book a table in advance. The menu has plenty of traditional swiss dishes - personally I enjoyed the racklet here quite a lot. A lot of desserts as well - flan was really nice too. There is a kids menu with some choice as well.

Delicious restaurant! Raclette is not oily, crispy and delicious, and the side dishes are very sweet. The two go well together. My friend who was traveling with me ordered the beef tongue steak, which was also very tender. Recommend everyone to come and eat!

We really liked the atmosphere, but the fondue, for us, had many species

Fabulous Authentic Swiss food We were hiking in the area and came to this place just by chance. We tried a Rösti with cheese and veal liver with Rösti. Both amazing. The waitresses were very fast, kind, the restaurant is very clean and prices are fair (for Swiss standards) I was there in May 2020

Traditional restaurant with nice views towards the jangfrau, monch and eigger peaks. We had raclette, which is a simple dish. I guess local products were used, and they were ok, nothing special than cheese plate in the oven with some boiled potatoes and pickles. Service was good and atmosphere too. There was no need to book in advance, but better give a call to be sure. Prices were a bit high for what you get, but to note that you will eat in the mountains were access is not easy.

Had the worst tasting chicken with frozen taste vegetables and food poisoning….! While the waitress was very helpful and nice . It’s obvious they are not paying attention to cleanness and how to handle chicken meat ..!

It was my first lunch in Switzerland, and although it was expensive, the food was all delicious and the people were friendly!! Especially the lamb is so delicious...! And it comes out to 200,000 won.

Beautifully decorated restaurant. Was served by a shy teenage boy who was very polite and helpful. Services were quite good. Ordered Cheese fondue, Bernerplatte, Escalope of pork with a mushroom cream sauce. The cheese fondue (without alcohol) was not bad and it was cheesy enough for us. Bernerplatte was our favorite as the pork were fresh and they were cooked nicely too. Escalope was not bad. Would recommend the fries as side dishes as they were very crispy. The chocolate drink was quite good.

Very friendly and accommodating family business. German is spoken and it's super cozy. We had regional specialties that were delicious. Price and performance very good. We will be back definitely!

We stopped here for lunch after exploring schilthorn. A bit pricey but Totally worth it if you want lunch with a view. I only took off a star because my steak was very small for 55franks, although it was delicious. Friendly service. Would def recommend.

The best Traditional food I have tasted in Switzerland. They also have a great kids menu with generous servings. Worth every Swiss Franc, was not disappointed. Lovely service and delicious food.

Cozy heart-warmingly restaurant in the heart of Murren is a real local haunt. Menu with regional dishes delicious spatzli and kids menu for the little ones. Warm and superb people. Loved it!!!

True to the original Swiss specialties in a cozy atmosphere. We were served warmly and kindly. Food was very tasty and plentiful. The kitchen is open to view and was extremely clean and tidy. The chef who walked through the restaurant also looked very neat, which creates trust and is also reflected in the quality! I deducted one star for the cheese spaetzle, which was very tasty, but in my opinion it was very expensive in terms of price-performance ratio.

For me, the Stägerstübli is the cultstübli. I have been visiting Mürren for decades and I have always visited this restaurant with previous owners. Very nice and good service today too! Very good food and special requests are also welcome. You can also make contact with locals there. Very happy again!😎😊❤️
