Restaurant Zhou Yu in Genève

The hotpot is pretty good. The herbal soup was delicious. Highly recommend the pork slices, scallops, enoki mushrooms, tofu and meat balls. I love the good selection sauces and dips. They do cost CHF3 per person but it is worth it. I do not recommend the tender strips of beef. The place has a nice ambience. The staff can be quite nonchalant and black faced unless you speak mandarin.

Very beautiful setting in a modern style. Immediate and smiling welcome. Very good products. Premises difficult to heat (very high ceiling) so it is a little cool in winter. Abundant map very nicely illustrated. A good experience. I recommend!

Honestly bad experience. We were not well received and the waitress did not explain anything to us when we arrived. All the staff were very cold We were completely lost. The fondue wasn't amazing. I really don't recommend!

Very good restaurant. The Chinese fondue is delicious and plentiful and the sauces are self-service. There is a menu for vegetarians. Special mention for the tofu which I almost preferred to the meat because it was so well seasoned and prepared. The service is fast. The decoration is splendid. Be careful, the spicy broth is not to be taken lightly. I will come back with pleasure.

Greatly enjoyed this restaurant! My aunt brought me and then I returned twice within the next two weeks. Twice I took the vegetarian hot pot option, I think it was dinner A, and it was delicious, I always left feeling full and satisfied. It was a bit pricey, but I think it’s worth it for a nice dinner out with friends or family. I wouldn’t say it’s a great place to bring your kids, I think more appropriate for adults.

Extremely rude service.Not returning there again! A male staff or owner there (?) was very rude,discourteous, impolite, dismissive, frowning & angry when we asked anything ! Not recommended! 👎👎👎

Portion was small and price was high. What’s worse is the service we received. Charged us 2 CHF per person for tap water, and the waiter informed us about this price with pretty mean attitude.

The concept is a good idea. However, the food and service did not meet our expectations. The portions were little, based in my experience, the quantity doesn't meets the quality for the price The place was clean and well located, the first impression that you get when you arrive is rather a good one, but as time goes it gets worse, If you read through the other comments, you'll always see that the staff was very rude. This is somehow true, they just don't seem to care, I don't know if it's because of a language barrier or just because they are impolite

Friendly restaurant, the food is good and the service friendly. Just be careful the map on their website is not up to date. The Chinese fondue was good, what I found to be a shame was that we automatically had 2 broths, one spicy and one natural. The sauces are unlimited and the fondue accompaniments are more than enough to settle your stomach.

If you want to try a real Chinese Fondue, this is it! You can choose from 2 different broths in the same pot that is split in two different parts. The ingredients were excellent and savory. Will definitely be coming back.

Too expensive for the quantity of food, a scam on unclear billing. The boss is unpleasant

A normal happy sunday family dinner turned horrible: we're a family of 5(2kids + 1baby), while dining, my baby who's 11months old were crying a lot, coz of hunger and fatigue, we did everything we could just to make her stop crying. So i ate as quickly as possible so i can take her out when suddenly the waitress asked my wife (who just finished breasfeeding my daughter) if we're done eating while removing the empty plates on the table and told us that our baby is making too much noise. My wife was so disgusted with the waitress' rudeness she didn't finish her food. Their hot pot made our heads hot that we decided to cool down and went straight to mc donald's to eat mc flurry which is aproximately 100meters away. This is the first time i wrote a review on something. I've experienced dining in a resto that serves bad food and/or expensive but this restaurant is by far the worst that i had to make a review. NOT RECOMMENDED -rude staff -expensive -not family friendly resto -sub par food

Food and soup base were decent - similar to any standard hot pot restaurant in Asian countries. However, they aren’t very honest or transparent with their charging. Originally they mentioned they would charge two pax for the soup base as there were two of us adults eating, but when the bill came they also charged an additional pax without telling us until I enquired because my one year old and three year old tried the soup as well (barely 5 mouthfuls between them). Also probably the only restaurant we visited that charged for tap water and the explanation given was that no drinks were ordered. Disappointment in that sense.

Very beautiful restaurant, the decor puts us in a beautiful atmosphere. We had the Chinese fondue, mhmm it was delicious 😋 I loved their broth and their spicy sauce. I highly recommend. I will come back without hesitation! ❤️

Only fat on the chicken skewers, which were tiny. We waited almost three quarters of an hour, no one apologized, I had finished my dish when my partner's arrived. Very expensive for what it is. It ruined our evening. Total scam.

I think all the 5 start reviews are fake there’s no way this place lives up to its name. First of all the owner was super rude to us the hospitality is horrible. Like all the other comments i read, people are saying they are rude which is so true I can confirm. The workers there only favour the Chinese clients… The owner was out laughing and smiling with the Chinese clients but she’s extra rude to us. Second, we reserved a table through “TheFork” which grant us 20% discount. As the owner was aware of this she increased our 1L still water to 10 CHF which she scammed us. She increase the price of the water to remove our discount or even make us pay more….. Third, she brags about how her sauce is “special” and it costs 3CHF ok…. I’ll pay 3CHF not a problem but when I was taking my sauce she kept looking at me as if I was robbing her and she was thinking of charging us 6 CHF but only 1 of us is taking the sauce. “the sauce has nothing special” Fourth, the waitress there speaks 0 french or English. There is 0 communication, I understand if you are weak in french language, but if you don’t know English too…. Fifth, the food is meh the portions is very little and the price is super high in my opinion there are much better Chinese restaurants around Geneva i would stay away. We had stomach ache after stepping out of the the restaurant ⚠️stay away from this place⚠️ McDonald’s just 100m from there ✅

It was just horrible. Service is not good at all but they are friendly only to Chinese people. One bottle of water costs 10 francs. The woman was very rude and asking me several times many questions when i was going to take the sauce; she was scared I was taking all of the sauces. The waitress doesn’t even speak at all…ZERO communication. We got stomachache once we stepped our foot outside. The food was meh… but does not worth the price. I’ve got 20% discount of the food from TheFork and she increased the price of the water to remove that 20% discreetly. I would not recommend this kind of restaurant and would prefer eat coop food at this point.

Apart from the originality of the tables and the decoration the rest is ordinary, unsmiling staff, Chinese fondues much too expensive compared to the products served, portions intended for small eaters... all quite noisy, in short the kind of restaurant where we only go once.. we came as a family (six people)

Taste is good, you have many choices of food like we have in China, just a little bit expensive. Vegetables and tofu products almost the same price as meat.

We love going to this place. Good hot pot but that's not the only thing. They have a diverse menu as well.

It was horrible ! Never coming here again ! The service was so bad that we had to wait the waiter to come for 35 mins to just our order . Quality of the food was disgusting and the restaurant it self smelled like rotten eggs ! We came there with kids and in the next to us table a couple were making out inappropriate way ! We did ask the waiter to tel them to stop but waiter just ignored us and rolled his eyes and left .

This is the second time I've been to this restaurant. Both times I was surprised in a good way. The food is delicious and the staff very friendly. I don't understand how the restaurant is empty.

Throughout my travels to various countries, I have had the opportunity to dine at a plethora of restaurants. Over the course of the past decade, I have encountered both exceptional and subpar establishments. Unfortunately, the restaurant stands out as the absolute worst of them all. The individual who took our order was incredibly impolite and dismissive, displaying a level of rudeness that I have rarely encountered in my dining experiences. Not recommended.

Two people spent RMB 1,000, but they couldn't swipe their cards, so they ended up transferring it to WeChat. The portions are very small, so I recommend ordering the Yuanyang Hotpot. The spicy hot pot is explosively spicy, but if you want to taste the aroma, it is not fragrant at all, it is explosively spicy.

I was satisfied the first time I came here coz they gave a lot of meat thats why I invited my friends we were 9 but I am very disappointed the portion they gave for us is too small. Good for 2 not for group

The place is nicely decorated, but we were very disappointed by the welcome and the food, which was bland and still partially frozen. Please note, the prices charged differ from what is indicated on the menu on their website: count 10.- more for the hot pot. Two weeks after the event, they have not fixed their site. When booking, I was assured that vegetarian hot pot was available. On the spot, it was not the case, you had to pay the same price as that for the meat, and leave the meat for the friends who ate it. We were charged 20.- too much, fortunately corrected.

Very disappointed, we arrived around 1 p.m., the waitress said that the restaurant would close in 1 hour, she had no interest in welcoming us. The continents of the fade (menu) are poor, there are few things. The source is banal. Dessert is fruit from the conservative box. We're not going back there anymore.

Nice looking place but way way way overpriced!!! We all left hungry after what was supposed to be a large menu and when we complained about the tiny portions we were told that we would pay more to get some additional food... First and last time for me.

Chinese fondue menu at 59fr. per person. For this price, we are hungry. And no choice for dessert. It's a scoop of vanilla, chocolate or lemon ice cream... It hurts

This restaurant is great for a big gathering, they have this hotpot and you cook in the broth so it’s really enjoyable when you’re in a big group. We attended with a group of people and really enjoyed the evening. I ordered the prawn tempura and sweet and sour pork dumplings I think, the tempuras were crunchy and delicious. I think for a chilly winter night, this place is good with friends or family.

We ate in this restaurant and decided to have the Chinese fondue. The price is relatively expensive for the portions (chf 59.-/pers), few accompaniments, the broths have no taste. Too bad because the setting is good.

Beautiful decor, decent cuisine, unpleasant staff.

My wife and I had noodle soups. For my wife, seafood noodle soup. And for me, duck noodle soup. We ate well. Great service and with a smile.

We eat very well, especially the Chinese fondue, menu 1 to 49.-, copious with these three meats (chicken, beef, lamb), seafood (shrimp, razor clam, nuts). of scallops, squid) and its pot of vegetables. Broth of your choice, spicy or not. Test and approve

We were received by a dynamic and friendly team. The restaurant is friendly and we eat very well there. I was able to discover a very good Chinese fondue with very good products to accompany it.

This place used to be my go-to for Hot Pot, however this has changed. The service was terrible compared to previously, we were charged 3chf for soya sauce? She tried to insist my friend took it despite us repeatedly saying she didnt. We were also only suggested the "combo" option for the Hot Pot when asking for the menu and ONLY upon us insisting she brought us the sheet with the individual hot pot orders... a shame they tried to fool us and treat us as if we are stupid. We also weren't offered the same eating utensils as the rest, and we kept needed to ask for the basics (i.e. a large spoon to take things out of the Hot Pot, which is a BASIC need?). Well presented dish. Guaranteed flavor. Service well done. Just one downside, the prices are adapted to the pen on the card. Impressive fondue and possibility of eating it on the terrace. Prices remain quite expensive.

The menu outside the door says that the hot pot set meal is 39/person or 49/person, but when I sit down, the menu says 49/person or 59/person, and the portion is not enough, and there are very few types of dishes. Common hot pot ingredients such as tripe luncheon meat and duck intestines When I waited, there was nothing in the set menu, just some vegetarian dishes and cheap fat beef rolls, and there were few seafood platters. The overall service was also very indifferent. When I checked out, I was told that it was cash only. Please inform me in advance or write down cash only in the future. Everyone knows what the purpose is. Be aware. Non-residents who don’t have Swiss francs have to go to the ATM to pay extra handling fees and the exchange rate difference. The taste is just passable, but the rest is really bad. The hot pot in the store is huge. It’s hot and the fan doesn’t work at all. If you want to eat a la carte ingredients, two people will have to pay 70 Swiss francs per person.

Took away a beef and a chicken fried rice along with the fried chicken with red chillis and a cumin lamb. The chicken was the star - spicy but just perfectly fried. The fried rice were pretty decent. The lamb didn't look or taste like cumin lamb so I suspect they got that wrong. The waitress was super helpful and nice!

The shrimp fritters and you are a horror of the flesh composed and a lot of dough as for the rest very very fatty more fat than meat it is better to go eat at Zen which is just above

Super friendly staff. Warm place. The food was superb, we had the Chinese fondue and it was very generous, but be careful the spicy broth can be strong if you're not used to spicy food. But in general it was really superb I recommend 100%

Have been here few times always with a reservation and their hot pot is good but the staff are very rude.Very rude.We went there yesterday this time without a reservation and were ready to wait but the lady who i assume is the owner literally treated us as someone looking for freebies and she just wasn't even ready to answer as what would be the waiting time.she just wanted us out of the restaurant.not that it matters to them but they have lost a loyal customer because of their rudeness .

Good deal on deindeal, 60 instead of 100chf. It's not worth the price at all!!! Everything meat and fish is served frozen and the quality is not great at all, The broth is good, the spice good but much too spicy. The waitresses are not pleasant at all, they are sad and not helpful at all! The only smile we had was when we left ;) And the dessert included in the formula is 3 lychees per person because the ice cream had to be reserved, lol!

I feel many of the five star reviews are fake: The food was ok but not the best. They are not family friendly. They were rushing my family and kids out the door without giving us our desert as part of the meal package. When I asked about it, they gave the most obvious lie, " oh you didn't get your ice cream?" Seriously we were your first customers that day and you should have know, as not many others in that day.. They didn't even tell us where the condiments area for the soup was, luckily found it as I went to use bathrooms. It felt unprofessional for the price I paid for my whole family. They didn't even ask for our covid pass either .

Hot pot was great, we really enjoyed it. It's a bit pricey but nothing unexpected for Geneva prices. We didn't like the desserts at all (tapioca and bean dessert) which were also quite high in price, would not recommend. The fried fruit was better but still not the best. However the hotpot itself was really good, in line with what you'd expect and it's a fun food experience to do with friends!

Excellent real Chinese fondue with a nice variety of seafood, vegetables and meat. Special mentions for the sauce bar and the attentive service. The only downside is the quantity which can be annoying for a big eater.

Restaurant with finely decorated interiors, whose cuisine is also well presented. A great pleasure for the eyes. The tastes on the other hand are more aggressive and violent, the level of pepper risks becoming too high for those who are not used to it.

VERY DISAPPOINTING QUALITY OF FOOD AND SERVICE. I felt ashamed for bringing friends here, especially during the holidays to have such a bad experience. Everyone is very disappointed. I thought it was true when the boss said that they did the renovation and improved the quality of food (already had a bad experience with the freshness of their product two years ago). POOR QUALITY OF FOOD: for a restaurant that specializes in Sichuan cuisine - Chinese fondue, the main thing is the broth. Unfortunately it doesn't have much taste. The seafood is not very fresh. CRUDE AND IGNORANT SERVICE: without a good evening, we were greeted with a cold “wait at the entrance”. 50 mins of waiting, no answer to our questions even though they heard us... Towards the end we were told that the card payment machine is broken. They could have told us during the 50 min wait.

The worst food experience since I arrived in Genève. The spicy soup and non spicy soup are way too clear with very little taste, I have many Chinese friends and we eat a lot hot pot in France and Spain, frankly speaking this restaurant is the worst so far, not mentioning we have waited for 45 mins, plates we have ordered are the usual stuff, frozen beef and lamp rolls and some veggies, none of the dishes require “ cooking”, so we were quite confused because we have never waited that long in any hot pot restaurants. In the end we asked the bill, it came quickly at last, however the owner told us that something wrong with their pos machine so we have to go out to take cash, this is really outrageous, we asked the owner why didn’t he tell us to take cash while we were waiting for nearly 50 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!! The owner still went on arguing that they were too busy to tell each client, therefore we “should pay attention to the notice” on the wall! I’m sorry ??? I should read every single piece of paper inside a restaurant ?! Also the owner has proposed us to use Alipay. Of course, this is how little they respect the clients and how much care they have to the business, it’s indecent! Btw: The restaurant didn’t asked us the Covid Pass and neither any of other guests, it’s horrible!

It is said to be the only hotpot in Geneva. There is nothing wrong with it except that it is expensive.
