Ristorante Vetta in Lugano

We had lunch on Saturday. We ordered spaghetti bolognese, nuggets and gnocchi. Unfortunately, I couldn't eat the gnocchi because it smelled so bad and I ordered something else (tomato and cheese on pastry) but the spaghetti and nuggets were very good. Also the ice cream was very nice. I think the prices were a little expensive compared to the food. But it seems worth it to eat with that view. When we arrived, there was a table by the window, and when I asked the waiter if we could sit there, he said, "I'm very busy right now, I don't have time to clean it, sorry." We sat at another table, but two minutes later other customers came and sat there. Unfortunately, the waiters work hard, but I think their numbers are insufficient. I think this causes them to act negatively towards the customer. Still, you can go there for a nice restaurant and view.

I was really surprised how a restaurant with such great food, breathtaking views, professional and friendly service could be so affordable! Definitely happy to recommend again and to others.

We visited San Salvatore Peak on a beautiful sunny December day. Upstairs we found a table on the restaurant's terrace with a wonderful view. The minestrone tasted excellent. The fries were plentiful and tasty. Then a good espresso and ice cream. All pretty reasonable prices and great service.

We went to the funicular on a gray day...it started raining, we stayed for lunch at the restaurant. All good!

The only possibility to eat on the summit of Mount San Salvatore. Single dish of the day with various tastings (bruschetta with tomato, tagliolini with salmon and braised meat with polenta) overall decent. The view is breathtaking. Visited on 10/27/23.

The waiter/waitress were not friendly or welcoming at all. We got there at 1pm on Monday and they weren't serving lunch (also they don't speak English, which is fine but it's quite touristy so you kind of expect them to be a little more kind and helpful).

Super fast & friendly service. Salad & spaghetti & ice coffee were delicious. Sensational views over the Ticino including Lake Maggiore and Lake Lugano. About 45 minutes of steep but beautiful hike from Carona to the restaurant. A visit is definitely worth it 😀🌅

A magical place with a beautiful view. My daughter celebrated her birthday that day and the atmosphere of this place made her remember it for the rest of her life. We ate a delicious dessert at sunset. Something unique. Very nice service. I recommend.

At the top of Mount San Salvatore there is this beautiful restaurant with a breathtaking view. Excellent cuisine with a decent choice of dishes. Friendly staff, very friendly and prepared to answer all our questions!

Macho and embarrassing (for you) There's no way in 2023 a girl can't walk around and not be criticized for her looks. 09.30 am, passing on the path in front of the restaurant, the gentlemen from the kitchen and waiters allowed themselves to stare at me while my back was turned towards them, since I was looking at a map. Plus to make a couple of united comments "this is an 8.5" but is it possible?! I advise you to enroll your colleagues in an education course.

I arrive and ask if I can sit. They give me the card, ask me what I'm drinking... they bring me the drink and tell me I would have to wait 30 minutes to eat. I think it would have been more correct to say it immediately and not only after bringing me the drink.

My boyfriend and I went to eat at the viewpoint area. Very expensive food. We asked for a sweet wine and they brought us one that had nothing to do with it. When we asked to change it, the girl who served us took so long that we had already finished eating. The service very slow and quite average. The food is not quality and is expensive.

Breathtaking views. Special ice cream desserts cost around 10-13 chf. Iced coffee ice cream was very nice. There are no lactose free options except maybe for some fruit flavored gelatos. They have WC upstairs and also downstairs in the panoramic deck.

Very bad restaurant. It wasn't deemed necessary to serve us, we waited half an hour to watch other customers being served. We are very disappointed with this experience. When we left we took a look into the kitchen. It looked dirty, as did the toilets, so we can be glad we didn't take anything there. Very disappointing experience, thank you for nothing.

The cuisine is good, hearty and typical of the region. The service is attentive…. But we must serve wine at the table. The furniture is a little old and not very high-end. The view is beautiful .

The Vetta San Salvatore restaurant stands out for its extremely friendly service and delicious food, especially after a long hike. The lasagna is juicy and the fried cheese is a delicious delicacy. In addition, the restaurant offers a breathtaking viewpoint from which you can fully enjoy the surroundings. However, it should be noted that the restaurant's facilities, with concrete floors and plastic chairs, do not meet the highest aesthetic standards. Nevertheless, the positive aspects of the friendly service and delicious food outweigh the negatives, making the visit a worthwhile experience.

This is an amazing place with perfect dishes, awesome sightseeing. And what was important for us, that the kitchen was working on 15.00 on Wednesday when the most restaurants are having a pause for cooking

Nice offer: if you buy a daily special directly from the restaurant downstairs at the funicular, you only pay 7CHF extra per person. Really worth it! There is even a list next to it, so that you know in advance what the daily special is. Upstairs the daily special turned out to cost 22CHF. We had delicious ravioli. There was also a starter: soup or salad. And the view is spectacular!

The view is certainly outstanding here and it is expensive. The menu is extensive. The food and drinks came quickly, despite a full restaurant. The portions were relatively small and could have been served more attractively. There is a small playground next to the restaurant. The service was friendly. I would say between three and four stars, then four because of the view.

The scenery is superb and it's worth dropping by for a brief coffee break. The typical European espresso is strong but has a slightly charred flavor (dislike!) While the staff is pleasant and energetic, they may take a while to attend to everyone because there aren't enough waiters for the restaurant's size. It's advisable to try dishes that feature tomatoes. The tomato soup is a safe choice, but it's also quite sizable. However, the dessert, particularly the apple strudel, was average and had a mixture of sweet and sour tastes.

I was not sure if the food was frozen or not, but it was not good. The soup looked like it was ready made, but couldn’t get a confirmation. Anyway, you don’t have much options. The red wine was undrinkable. It gets 2 star because the view was amazing

Organized dinner with already chosen menu. Ate really well! Presentation and portions are right, obviously an unmissable view. Old place but well renovated, good wine/food combination, dining room staff lived up to expectations. They didn't have local bitters but this can (must) be remedied. Definitely satisfied.

Very functional restaurant on the top of San Salvatore. They offer local dishes such as minestrone, polenta, risotto,...along with other Swiss classics and some international ones. The environment is very beautiful with spectacular panoramic views. The service is fast and the dishes are good.

I was on New Year's Eve. I had called 10 days before to inform them that there was a vegetarian in our group. I was told that they had various alternatives including polenta, mushrooms, vegan meatballs. We arrived on site and there was none of this, they even wanted to make a salad as an alternative to meat and fish I paid 110 Fr. to eat tomato bruschetta, a small piece of cheese, grilled vegetables and sautéed mushrooms Yet I specified that I eat eggs, I eat cheeses, I eat legumes and pasta, etc If I had arrived as a surprise I would have adapted but since I informed the owner 10 days before I didn't expect this mockery. I advise you if you are not capable of being a restaurateur, close your doors PS this is the second review I hope it is published because people need to know…..the first was not published…..

Impregnable view and good restaurant.

The views on the terrace are just spectacular and the service was warm and friendly. We just had a drink and some bruschetta, which we really enjoyed. Worth going just for the views.

Possibility to eat with a beautiful view of Lake Lugano. It's just a shame that it's not possible to order anything other than ice cream when the kitchen is closed. A simple plate of charcuterie would have been nice.

Horrible food. Really full of greasy cheese and the polenta was more than overcooked. Never eaten anything like that. Didn't have to pay for my portion because of a complaint. I thought that was ok

Traveled here with a larger group. The view from the restaurant is very nice. But not the food. As a starter there was soup or salad. That was fine. Unfortunately the main course was nothing. Although the chosen meal was already known, schnitzel with fries, when the plates came, it was a real disappointment. Not just the quantity, but more so the taste. Even McDonald's tastes better. Anyway, I hope that was the exception for us. But I still wouldn't come here to eat again.

We bought a funicular ticket with discounted lunch at the restaurant and we were served some dry lettuce with half a slice of tomato, cucumber and sweetcorn for the first course and undercooked pasta with overcooked peas and creamy sauce which had a skin. It was revolting to look at and even worse to taste. I understand the ticket entitled us to a less fancy meal but it is unbelievable that any restaurant would ever serve such appalling food to anyone ever. Would give -1 if I could...

Unfortunately the quality of the food was very poor. We ordered the perch filet with butter and sage sauce with parmesan risotto. The risotto was probably rice cooked in cream, not seasoned with wine, vegetable stock, onion/garlic or other spices. The fish fillet was small breaded pieces of fish that were probably deep fried or fried in copious amounts of butter. No fishy taste noticeable anymore. The sauce consisted of sage leaves fried in butter. Plates carelessly arranged. Overall, the second most expensive dish on the menu was not recommended. Even cafeteria food is better! The gnocchi was also ordered with Gorgonzola sauce and saffron. Gorgonzola was not tasted, saffron dominates the whole meal. Children's dish (macaroni with tomato sauce) was served cold and the tomato sauce was probably not homemade. Absolutely not recommended restaurant for food. Poor quality at completely exorbitant prices. 0 points!!!

The ideal place for lunch when taking the funicular from Paradiso to San Salvatore. Good food, good service and exceptional view from the terrace. I suggest the integrated funicular ticket + dish of the day. For 32 francs you get an entree and a plate. All perfect. Advised!
