Rooftop 42 in Genève

The kind of typically Geneva address that looks at you from head to toe from top to bottom with a snobbish air to see if you are well enough to go home. No thanks. Even if the atmosphere is nice, I find that this kind of bar that is fun doesn't at all reflect the image of our city. I don't recommend.

Security ruins the whole experience, I won't return. On top of that, the management is not super cordial...

Too bad we can't leave 0 stars... WITHOUT EVEN BEING UP, I don't recommend approaching the bouncers. The more disrespect there is towards the customer, the better! With my colleague we show up for a drink, we get excited because from 10 p.m. it's a minimum of 25 years (so far no real problem). Then after turning around, we get stopped from afar (as if we were at the McDonald's), because we can go back supposedly as an exception this evening! LOL, seeing our outfits (potentially we could have consumed a lot) the bouncer decided to let us come up by chance that evening!! NO WAY! We laughed in his face. When passing in front of this famous elevator, run as far as possible to save time and money.

We called for a dinner reservation of 4 people. We had the misfortune of arriving 15 minutes late and no place available to serve us food. We were asked to wait a little while until a table became available. We decided to have a drink standing up at our own expense, then when a table became available 45 minutes later, we were seated only to be told that the kitchen had finally closed, and that they no longer served food... knowing that all the staff were informed that we were waiting to eat… no effort from anyone on the team! This will be the last time we set foot there! For 2 cocktails at 50 CHF and on an empty stomach! We ended up at McDo because the only restaurant open in Geneva at 10:30 p.m.!

From the welcome to the meal, everything was impeccable, with an exceptional atmosphere.

I came last night with my girlfriend who was celebrating her birthday, we sat on the terrace while waiting for a table inside, for 30 minutes We waited for someone to approach us to take our order, At the end , I went to the bar myself to have the cocktails, we left directly afterwards because we didn't want to stay there anymore because of the situation I came here, but now I have the impression that there is no longer the same Service

Above all, remember to call to reserve. Because when we did it, we were told that it wasn't necessary, but when we got to the front, we said no. Two well-dressed young men. I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Rooftop 42 in downtown Geneva. On the eighth floor, this place has a beautiful view over the lake with a sizable terrace. We had a big table with 11 persons. The service was very pleasant and timely. My food was very good from start to finish. I would highly recommend for business lunch on a sunny day. I don’t know the price as the lunch was offered.

I would like to share my experience...I was at the roof on Saturday evening.. we were about to leave quickly because we took a taxi and we hurried to take it unfortunately we had completely forgotten to pay the very nice waiter told us to pay I paid and as luck would have it the security guards come out and tell us that we are no longer welcome because we tried to leave without paying when we forgot they know we felt very bad and I do not recommend this place instead of talking to us, the security guards treated us like shit….

I had an excellent experience at Rooftop 42 thanks to the incredibly friendly and helpful hostess at the front desk. Her warm welcome set the tone for my entire visit, making me feel genuinely valued as a guest. She went above and beyond to assist with any inquiries, making the overall atmosphere exceptionally welcoming. It's the kind of service that leaves a lasting impression and ensures I'll be returning in the future.

The atmosphere is nice and welcoming, the only fault is that we were not informed that we had to make a reservation for a drink after meals. But next time we'll know.

Had a lovely experience here recently. The food and drinks were great - our server Tressy was so helpful, talked us through the menu and made some great recommendations, thanks again to her who made the night for us. Would 100% recommend to visit!

Apart from the music and the view which are great, the meal was not up to the price and service we paid. The waiters don't know the menu, our table was shaky, when you ask for bread it arrives 30 minutes later when the plates were taken away from us, the foie gras was ribbed, in short the dishes weren't ecstasy...

Place that I knew a few years ago and that I appreciated but on December 31 we had the misfortune to come across a "box bouncer", in the pejorative sense of the term, in front of the elevator. had behavior worthy of a vulgar nightclub but not a place like that. I had a wonderful dinner last evening, celebrating my partner's birthday. I sent a question asking if I could have dish without lactose and the team made arrangements to prepare me one of the best meals I have had. I am so happy and grateful. Thank you :) I will definitely be back and I recommend to keep the gnochis with mushroons because they are so good!

Honestly, I would never set foot in this place again. I had friends waiting for me for my birthday at Rooftop 42 on the terrace. A surprise for my 30th birthday. And he managed to ruin everything for me, by refusing me to come home because I was alone!! I have always come there and that is thanks to my parents who introduced me to this beautiful place. And your pathetic security who thinks he's someone he doesn't dare refuse entry to people who could be important. Without even suspecting anything. You will end up creating a bad buzz, believe me. People like that have no place in Switzerland.

Magnificent view during the day and evening of the lake and the Geneva Jet d'Eau. The service is top notch, the staff are very kind and attentive, always with a smile. The food is really very good, refined and plentiful. The atmosphere in the evening is very nice with music. At lunch, it’s calmer and conducive to conversation. In short, we had a great time at Rooftop 42.

When we arrived, the tall chocolate guy in the reception told us the there is a dress code, staring at us with a really arrogant, inappropriate and disappointing way..sorry rooftop 42, you suck ❌️❌️❌️

Came yesterday 02.12.23 with my husband for a romantic meal, dismal service, there are a lot of staff but not a single one takes care of our table or to serve wine or water, the waitresses are very arrogant they treating customers in a very haughty manner the only thing that interests them is to make customers consume and immediately clear them to receive new customers. We hear them talking badly about their customers. NEVER AGAIN. NOT RECOMMENDED In addition the food was average my inedible potato puff too salty. But they are crazy...

Idyllic place in the center of Geneva where you can enjoy a meal, the prices are not very exorbitant, but the truth is that the menu is very short, and for the price you pay you expect more elaborate dishes.

Very accommodating, modern bar. If you are in Genéve - and want a lively, yet peaceful retreat with fantastic vistas across the Lake and the city, this is the place to be. A photograph cannot compare to the real thing. Our drinks were made perfectly, they were fresh tasting, and the high-class liquor made great defense against the March evening breeze sweeping across the lake. We visited in the early spring of 2023, and I remember every taste, scent, sound and sensation I experienced sitting atop the city surrounded by mountains. You must visit. Thank you to all the team at the bar, that made our visit to Rooftop42 one that we will not forget!

We went on a Saturday evening, and it was just getting busy. We were initially seated inside and then moved outside once there was space available. We ordered passionfuit margaritas and the grand margarita. Both were very refreshing. Service was very quick. The ambiance and view is exactly what we needed after a day if walking around.

Cool rooftop, that’s undeniable. View of the water jet is a nice plus. The staff was nice, pleasant, helpful and friendly. I only give 4 stars because when we came, we were charged 2x (two drinks). To err is human... it was only around forty chf... but without this error, the fifth would have been in order. But without it, it's even better

At the entrance the waiter was super arrogant, if you have a lamborghini parked in front of the door you enter... otherwise you will be sent away :))) horrible

The initial reception left a lot to be desired. We didn't have a reservation, but the hostess said she would see what she could do. He kept coming and going from the bar and speaking very sloppy French (apparently) on purpose and we didn't understand what to do. He placed us at a table and said he wasn't going to open a command. So we would have to get the drink and pay at the bar, so far without any problems. The problem was that when we did this, the waiters who were there started to give us dirty looks and we didn't understand. All the tables with commands and we without. We felt a lack of receptivity and good service. There are other rooftops with better views and services too. Wouldn't go back.

The aperitif and tapas on the terrace were very cool, a little chilly but blankets are at your disposal to warm you up. And once in the restaurant, a great atmosphere and very pleasant cuisine. I don't really like the concept, table reserved for 2 hours to eat, and especially if you come to drink without eating you cannot sit down, the high tables are reserved for bottles so if you only drink glasses you stay up, no really very disappointing concept, apart from that the DJ plays very very good music the atmosphere is great but stay up all evening without being able to sit down because we only drink drinks, NO THANK YOU!! !! One of the strong points of the rooftop restaurant 42 is undoubtedly its magnificent view of Geneva. Situated high up, the establishment offers a breathtaking perspective of the city, with breathtaking views of the rooftops and the lake. It is a real pleasure to be able to contemplate this splendor while enjoying a delicious meal. Speaking of meals, the quality of the dishes offered at the rooftop 42 restaurant is excellent. The menu offers a wide choice of tasty dishes, prepared with fresh, quality ingredients. Whether local or international dishes, each plate is presented with care and the flavors are perfectly balanced. The restaurant's chefs truly master the culinary art and it shows in every bite. However, a slight downside disturbs this perfect culinary experience: the music is too loud. Although the music could add a dynamic ambiance, at times it was so loud that it made it difficult to converse with our guests. This may be a disadvantage for those who prefer a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere when dining.

Nice view and good atmosphere with the music and the singer. The person at reception in the lobby of the building was very welcoming. Big downside, when they seated us at the table, they told us that we only had the table for 2 hours. We ordered a drink and the tapas menu, but the latter arrived 40 minutes later. So, not very practical when you know you have to hurry to eat.

View, superb!!! Very pleasant waitresses/waiters, nice atmosphere! On the other hand, a big downside this time, I came several times and until today never disappointed, I noted that the reservations are for a duration of 2 hours, but each time we far exceeded them (like last Wednesday) and no one ever said anything to us despite the high attendance. Today we booked on the terrace and unfortunately 2 of the guests were very late due to their work so we started timidly, 1btl of rosé, 2 cocktails a few tapas, the person who manages the reservations (Laetitia) asks us if we we want to head inside because the reservations are for 2 hours, except that on the site nothing guarantees a table on the terrace the 2 hours are as good for the outside as the inside moreover if I had known that the 'we could be treated like that I would have anticipated I would have taken 2 time slots but since that had never happened to me I didn't see the point in worrying. I asked him if there was has no other solution but with a disdainful air without taking any tweezers she tells us that the table is full, so I decline the table inside and she gives us 5 minutes to finish the tapas and the cocktail that we had come to serve us. We usually spend around 100 hp per person sometimes more (I think it's not bad for an aperitif) apparently you don't!! , There are quite a few things to say but it would be too long. When we left, Laetitia did not even deny saying goodbye to us. I am in the restaurant business myself (I have 2 bars) and our concern is service above all with plan B for exceptional cases. Although the setting is beautiful I will not come back to spend my money, you say to yourself 1 lost 10 found (yes short thermal bath) Mourad Daoudi (a childhood friend told me that if I wanted a right pass I had to give your name to the boss) know that this is not my way of seeing things. Damage!!!

When we provide a service to a restaurant owner (for example by warning that it is indicated in error that the restaurant is closed...and we spontaneously remove the sign). It's funny to see that we don't even get coffee to thank you. No comment

We had booked for 12 and 4 people and unfortunately there was no dining menu left on the menu, so very big disappointment, we ate burgers instead... we still received 2 bottles of champagne as compensation...

Restricted place for entry, great security measures and only access if you are registered on a list. A terrace with very good views and quite expensive. Like the rest of the city.

We were discriminated against, never again.

As soon as we arrive, we are stared at by the “bouncer” who refuses us entry without giving us a reason. The latter turns his back to us while lighting his cigarette at the entrance to the elevator. I was not able to speak with the manager as I had requested. I have very bad memories of it!

The view is magnificent, the service is good, the atmosphere is too "have you seen me".

Really nice view, staff on the top perfect. The only problem was the bailer who wasn’t welcoming. If I had to trust my first impression, I wouldn’t have come. He was a bit disrespectful with us but worst with the other clients.
