Great pastries; the croissants are incredible! Good hot chocolate and cappuccinos too, all in a cozy atmosphere with enough space to have some privacy.

The place is nice, i took a cappuccino and a chocolate cookie, the cappuccino was below average and the coffee didn’t taste very flavourful, it was a disappointment! The cookie sucks. Service can be better!

The coffee & croissant were excellent. Service, however, could be improved. As a client, I felt uncomfortable and awkward - first of all, the waiter/barista didn’t speak German; secondly, even when I switched to English, he didn’t understand my question. I was asking if they had freshly squeezed orange juice, since I was not interested in having bottled one. He reacted with surprise and was unable to provide me with a clear answer, as if my question was strange. I hope to receive a bit more patience, kindness, and competence next time I visit because, don’t get me wrong, it’s a great place for good coffee.

Matcha latte and flat white were delicious . But the cafe is a bit dusty.

Worst coffee I’ve had in Europe, and I’ve had instant coffee at my hotel room. It was completely burnt, the barista was either new or didn’t know how to serve it. Service was meh and it was 12 CHF for two medium americanos. If you just want regular coffee go to Starbucks, or Hug for more local one.

A very nice and cozy cafe with friendly baristas. It's not too loud, so perfect for studying or working, I'll definitely come back. I can also highly recommend the Bircher muesli and the cappuccino.

Coffee is so expensive in Zurich. I treat myself to a speciality coffee once per month. Disappointment at Boréal Coffee Shop. 7 CHF for a soup of coffee which was meant to be a cappuccino. Passive agressive customer service when adressing the issue. Won't repeat for sure. Let's better support coffees that care about their coffee and customers like Café Noir. No discount on self brought cup either.

By far one of the worst coffees I've ever had...or rather, tried to drink. Coffee is prepared too hot, so it loses its taste and is extremely undrinkable. Quality like vending machine coffee at the train station, if not worse.

The coffee was ok, but felt made in a hurry, which it was because the store was packed. I would try it again when it's not that busy, maybe the coffee comes out better.

Of the two employees, one probably had a break. The colleague was stressed because of this. It was hectic and disorganized. The tables are dirty. After the colleague came back from his break, he took my order with his mouth full. When I picked up my coffee, the barista asked me something that I misunderstood. Then he said something to me in French. I asked what he said, he laughed at me and said “nothing”. MA of the year cleared the tables while he was on the phone. My flat white is way too hot and either because of what I've experienced, but it also tastes very bitter.

Great coffee shop with bagels, croissants, and other baked goods. Very laid back and quiet. Loved the matcha latte and pain au chocolat. I only felt bad for the two employees behind the counter working so hard to serve everyone. A third employee to help clean up and support the baristas would make the place even more enticing to customers!

Found this cute coffee shop while trying to explore the area. Came by multiple times to grab a latte as well as some pastries to start the morning. Service was great as I believe the owner(?) was there running the counter as well as making the drinks. The decor is cozy and plenty of spots to do work or just enjoy time drinking coffee. Also had the chance to enjoy the butter croissant and the au pain chocolat which were both enjoyable! Will definitely come back the next time I’m in Zurich! It’s become a favorite spot already 😆

Nice coffee shop offering a variety of drinks which are generally tasting good. The service however can be improved. While the staff at the counter is always very friendly, the tables stay full of used dishes and no one of the staff is caring to clean the tables to make them welcoming for the next guests. Small improvement to make, other than that nice atmosphere and coffee.

The ambiance is lovely yet the under-extracted v-60 coffee ruined all the good vibes - it was clearly made by a absent-minded barista. On the other hand the caffè latte is superb. ——— Update ——— Visited the second time for the latte - it is really good!

Just finished a trip around Switzerland and Como, Italy and this was the best espresso I've had on the entire trip. Artisan roasted and prepared. This is not your usual overly dark roasted Illy coffee you get at most places. The coffee has a great flavor profile. If you appreciate coffee, this place is for you.

Really good coffee if in the area you should totally go to check it out, specially if you like specialty coffee. The End.. If that wasn't enough info and you want more details, you won't be disappointed even if your a coffee snob, they do have v60 filter coffee which is always amazing. A little disappointed there wasn't so much options in terms of African options (only any Ethiopian coffee was avaliable) which we specialise but I guess you can't have it all... P. S. Don't follow us if your looking for nagative reviews, we only focus on highlighting good coffee spots whereever we go and add to our list places with good and multiple African Specialty coffees to our recommended lists.

This is a great cafe with great food and excellent staff. Both times I've come I was served in excellent English, quickly and efficiently. The seating is plentiful but roomy and there are lots of natural light and pleasant, unobtrusive music. The food is really worth it. The croissants are fresh, soft and flaky. The bagel sandwiches are also fresh and tasty, and they toast them lightly when you get one. Their orange juice really is fresh, and they make flavorful, strong coffee. Most of the above can be gotten for about 16 francs with their breakfast deal. This is probably the best food value I've seen on this trip to Switzerland.

Delicious lattes, and the Oreo frappe was a true delight. It's too bad we found this spot on our last day in Zurich, as it is a gem.

Cozy and welcoming coffee shop to have a chat, relax, or work! I was very pleased with my visit at Boréal last Saturday. I was looking for a place where I could spend a few hours working, and I stumbled across this coffee shop and decided to give it a go! They offer a wide range of brews, classic coffees, and the possibility to personalize them with whipped cream and different syrups. They also have a variety of frappès and some teas. As for snacks, I saw quite a few bagels and a variety of baked goods like croissants, pain au chocolat, cinnamon buns, etc. Because it was morning I decided to go for the (all day) small breakfast menù (10.80chf), which includes a small coffee (up to 2dl) of your choice, a croissant/pain au chocolat and a glass of fresh orange juice. I decided to try their mochaccino and the pain au chocolat. Needless to say, I was very satisfied with my choice! I feel that the price was definitely fair for the amount of time I stayed in this cafè. This place is laptop friendly, and I also found a socket to charge it under the bench in the sitting area close to the entrance. Unfortunately, it seems that there is no wi-fi, but it could be a temporary thing. I would definitely stop by again in the future!

Amazing Latte, one of the yummiest Lochs bagel I ever had (toasted), and the nicest Barista I’ve encountered in Switzerland - friendly and funny. I’d come back any day just for this great experience! So glad we didn’t get a spot at Babu’s today.

I went to Boreal for the first time and had breakfast. I don't drink coffee so the gentleman made me a fresh ginger tea and it was fantastic. The croissants were like in France. I will return. There is more to explore.

A great place to come and relax or work over a good coffee. The place is big enough to host groups and tables are well designed to sit and work for longer time. Coffee is good , snacks are available at reasonable prices. I went on a sunny day, it was super warm inside than outside, Management take care ? Even the waitress is sweating :p

Coffee roasted in Carouge, Switzerland, this place originated from Geneva and now has some more coffeeshops around Switzerland. While being a (small) chain coffeeshop, the quality of products is much higher than the larger chains (St@rbucks, talking about you...) and the coffee is by far better. Different roasts available, fair prices to the coffee farmers and the most important, excellent coffee taste. Not bitter at all (you won't need sugar) and very friendly staff.

My favorite café for about four years. There is always a warm and welcoming atmosphere, not least thanks to the friendly staff. Price/performance is definitely given. The Boréal is definitely the right place for both a short break and productive hours behind the laptop.

The coffee is great but if you want to do anything else (work, study) this place comes short. Tables are usually full of crumbs, empty cups are left there for the guests to clean up. Also, there is no working wifi for weeks, which doesn’t seem to bother anyone.

Super delicious breakfast menu that you can get all day long. Excellent coffee, fresh O juice, a delicious croissant and a Bilcher muesli for 15 francs. It's easy to walk past it, but it's worth going in. It's not as hyped as other things in Zurich, but you have peace and quiet, you don't have to wait forever and you get top quality for your money here. You have to know

Went there for a study session and discovered one of the best coffee in Zürich 😋 I took a double espresso and woaw, strong and nutty ! The barista was really nice and the place is bright and cosy.

It's cosy, it echoes of a city coffee shop and it's informal with the decor and the way the furniture has been arranged. Oh, well, it isn't a place to shop for interiors, but for coffee, bagels, and desserts. I would recommend the hot "cold flu shot" on winter days if you love ginger and lemon. Bagels were good, and the barista was kind enough, though his orders kept piling up.

Cozy place. The coffee and muesli were very good.

Got served hot latte in a glass cup without handle. Was too hot to hold. Not sure if this is the way the barista implies that they didn’t like you for some reason. Can’t find any other expanation for such bad serving because they had other cups that are more proper for serving hot drinks. I have been in this cafe for a several times before and this is the first time such a bad serving happened. That’s why I am giving two stars, instead of one.

Met with a friend for a coffee, it's a charming quiet oases I middle of the city to have a cup of coffee and/or a quick drink. The service was nice and really friendly

This morning was my fourth time at this café and it was unfortunately a big let-down. My previous visits were on weekdays with a different and excellent barista but the Sunday morning barista was careless and a big disappointment. When you have everything at your disposal to make great coffee (excellent equipment, good beans and milk) and fail at it then the person behind the machine is to blame. This is a 5/5 café but consistency is important (so my 2/5) otherwise what’s the point of paying a premium for an average coffee you can get anywhere in Zurich.

A good address for French speakers looking for a nice place to drink coffee or chocolate. The small negative point is that sometimes the music is too loud... The hours have changed (closing at 5 p.m.)😅.

These baristas know their coffees, and tea! The cortado was perfect, and he was nice enough to empathize when I was recounting a bad experience at another cafe. They have every drip coffee imaginable. The place is set up beautifully too.

I love the crew's enthusiasm. The bacon vodka sounded interesting (didn't try it) and the OJ + espresso was much better than I thought it'd be. The music was good too - I like it that you could request songs - it looked like noone did though. One tiny problem - you could hardly hear it outside.
