My favorite restaurant in the city, generous and delicious dishes, calm atmosphere, pretty decoration. Super welcoming and friendly staff. And the Sago gula melaka dessert is just incredible!

Fabulous Malay cuisine. Everything was good with a special mention for this laksa soup in the photo. The serving boss is quite original. Go there with your eyes closed. It's delicious and 100% homemade. Tasty homemade peanut sauce with a nice soft and crunchy texture at the same time.

Wonderful place! The place is welcoming and calm, the menu is varied just enough and the dishes are absolutely delicious. Fresh and regional products as much as possible, top and pleasant service. I recommend this superb restaurant.

The dishes are delicious, from starter to dessert. I add a 6th star for the boss, I had the impression of being a guest and not just another customer.

Had the pleasure to be treated to an exquisite experience. Unbeknownst to us we visited during the chef special japanese night which they organize twice a year. Delicate food made with a authentic passion and care. It was an absolute pleasure to chat with the owners and chef about, sharing good vibes and discussing about their exquisite fish and how they source it, the sushi rice and prune wine I’ll be back for the Malay experience :)

Very nice food, tasted just like in Malaysia. Moderately spicy, but served with homemade spicy sauce to adjust. Large choice of vegetarian options and very friendly atmosphere. We will certainly come back.

The food is delicious and they are very welcoming. I've tried various dishes and all were quite tasty.

Intimate restaurant where there is a passion for excellent local products and for making the customer feel at home. The owners are the chef and the waiter and they care about making every detail meaningful and good. We came with our baby who was treated as a welcome guest, the waiter took the time to explain each dish in tantalizing detail and the food was delicious and fresh. We will be coming back.

The welcome is courteous, the service is fast and the food is excellent. The latter is both family-friendly, neat and refined. When you taste them, you can feel the dishes prepared to order, the fresh and local products, and the concern for balanced flavors. A great pleasure to eat there.

Very good food, warm welcome, dishes presented on arrival with details. Transparency in food provenance. Hearty and not overpriced. A little slow afterwards once the meal has started, that's the only downside. The boss, who is very friendly and efficient, has a bit of a tendency to listen to himself talk but that's OK.

In Malay, rumah means house/home and it's easy to understand why the owners have given their restaurant this name; you immediately feel at home when you enter the place and are met with a smile and an invitation to sit down. The roles are inverse compared to most restaurants, the wife is in the kitchen, the husband is serving and entertaining, while the little dog is barking each time another dog passes in the street, like a good watch dog should do. The menu is interesting, featuring both vegetarian and vegan dishes and everything that you are served is cooked while you are waiting, using local products and spiced to your taste. There is a rather good choice of quality wines with a small proportion of Swiss compared to French reds. They are rather pricey. Fine wines with hot food is maybe not such a good combination, so we prefer beer or tea to wine to accompany our food. Highly recommended for the adventurous gourmet.

We were vacationing in the city and stumbled upon this Malaysian restaurant while researching Google map. We made our way there with excitement only to be met by disappointment. When we arrived at approximately 6:15 pm on Dec 20, the restaurant was empty, but we were told by the staff that it was actually closed for a private event despite the fact that we informed them that we will be done eating within 30 minutes. There was no signage indication at the restaurant and Google map was not even updated to reflect the closure that evening.

I had a great time during my visit. The laksa is very delicious.

10/10 The quality of the products really makes a difference. Authentic Malaysian cuisine. Very relaxed atmosphere. Super cool staff with a passionate Chef and you can feel it in the dishes. Rendang is absolutely delicious! The desserts are very delicate and delicious. A little gem of South East Asia in Lausanne.

Very nice discovery. This is our first restaurant in Malaysia and it was really good. The server is passionate and conveys his enthusiasm for the dishes. We had a starter, a main course and a dessert and everything was refined. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Nice authentic Malaysian home cooked food. My favourite is the laksa. Female chef from JB. However the boss is a bit eccentric, not friendly to non French speaking customers. He asked me if I speak French. I said no & he said too bad. When I didn’t pass my plate to him, he said this is not a palace. Food is good but owner’s attitude is bad so I won’t go back

The national dish is something to get up at night. The chef's creation of the Panacota veggie is as subtle as it is light. The service is professional and relaxed. Peaceful and almost cozy atmosphere. Absolutely worth testing!

Great discovery. And in particular this homemade dessert, a vegan panna cotta topped with flower nectar syrup. Fine and delicious.

It's a really lovely place where you can have the real Malaysian food. It's really good and the chef is really nice. She can explain and adapt the dish according to your taste. I've been there two days in a row! It's not like a Chinese restaurant, it's a real new food experience!

Plus: The dessert was great! Pandan panna cotta was well done. Owner and her husband are also super friendly. My fellow Malaysian loved the hospitality though I wished the owner left us alone to have our own bonding conversations instead 😅 Minus: I am Southeast Asian so I am pretty picky when it comes to Southeast Asian food. The food here did not measure up in terms of the laksa, which I had. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty. But let's just say I have an authentic expectation for my local food and Rumah missed the mark. My friends had other rice and noodles and it was okay, meets expectations. The other minus is that it is quite pricey. My table of 6 had 3 beers, tap water, shared 2 appetisers, a main course and dessert each. It worked out to CHF 60 per pax. So that is roughly the range you're looking at. Overall, will recommend if you want to get a first taste of Malaysian cuisine. Bear in mind this is not going to get you the most authentic experience, but it is a good primer.

Lausanne has a number of very good restaurants - Rumah is a phenomenal restaurant. Quite frankly, it would be at home in any of the culinary capitals of the world... but we are very grateful that it is here. As well as amazing food for omnivores, there are also excellent vegetarian and vegan options... and the hospitality of Audrey and Olivier is first class. Highly recommended.

A real surprise! Without fuss, we will serve you dishes that taste good, new flavors that you remember. Nice team, simple and warm, family setting, you would expect to see a grandmother in an apron come out of the back of the shop but I only saw a young chef, without apparent pretension, who seems to love what she does .​

Delicious food! We had been looking for good Malaysian food for some time and finally found it - it is so fresh and not at all greasy. We also enjoyed the homemade chilli sauce. Good choice for vegetarians too. Very friendly owners. We look forward to coming back next time we are in Lausanne.

A very pleasant surprise in Lausanne. Authentic Malaysian cuisine, very well explained by the staff. The chef came out to ask how everything was going, a gesture that was appreciated. Very tasty food, as spicy as you want, since the sauces are separate. A very charming place, with good vibes, and a very quiet and refreshing area for a summer night. We had a great evening, we will go again.
