Aperitif and dinner in this place in Piazza della Riforma in Lugano. Really central and easy enough location where you can even just have a drink after work. Dinner with first courses, without exaggerating, and we ate some excellent dishes, especially the asparagus ravioli. Attentive, fast and professional service.

We were “only” here for an aperitif. Service was very friendly. The location is great. We had a front row seat outside.

Great food, great service. We ordered fish, risotto and tiramisu. This is our first day in Switzerland and we are not yet accustomed to local prices - these three dishes and tea and coffee cost us 100 euros) But the food was so tasty that it was worth it

Excellent restaurant Dish prepared, excellent and well presented. Helpful and kind staff. I have always found something on the menu to be vegetarian or they have adapted to my needs. A good choice of wine. The prices are quite high, but the place is located in the busiest and most central square in Lugano, so they are justified.

We came across this excellent cafe by chance… super friendly service, very polite and accommodating. Super attentive staff. When it was over 30 degrees in the shade, umbrellas and tables were positioned so that everyone could recover a little from the heat. Delicious snacks are served with the drinks. Here the guest is a king... 👍🏼 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 keep it up. 👏🏼

Last time I was here with my friend who talked italian, the staff was very friendly and courteous. We even received biscuits for free. Today (2 weeks later, same waiters) I was here with my boyfriend, we both don't speak italian. The staff is ignoring us and very unfriendly.

You choose from a tablet, where in addition to the menu you can find interesting philosophical ideas. The Milanese cutlet I ordered was among the best I have ever eaten: not battered, therefore thick but made of tender 100% Swiss beef, with perfect breading and frying. Accompanied by tender oven-cooked new potatoes in their skins. Cozy environment. A place to feel good.

Very good restaurant. Certainly slightly more expensive prices but good quality dishes. Very few dishes on the menu and few vegetarian options without fish. We ordered the charcuterie plate of the moment (be careful it's clearly for 2 but I was able to take the leftovers with me) the trout with polenta (very very good) as well as pasta with tomato and ricotta (simple but very well worked and good. A great restaurant that is worth it on the square in front of the lake.

Very good restaurant location in the old town itself. The menu is only in Italian and English, not in German, which is strange, especially since it is an electronic menu. The staff only speaks Italian, but they are polite. The price of the food is too high for what is served. Tastes just as good.

Good and tasty foods with wine.

My partner and I were tourists in Lugano and we chose the Sass Cafè for lunch. We ate well, the service was not up to par, but above all the bill (different prices from those written on the menu). The Sicilian cannoli on the menu indicates the cost of CHF 12, but in the bill we paid CHF 14!... The water is cl. 50 they made her pay her weight in gold, CHF 4.80! It's okay that we were passing through and we're not local, but Incu....(ripping off) customers like this is really counterproductive, in fact we won't be going back again! Massimo from Lodi

The place is nicely decorated with a lot of statues and pictures on the wall. You have a good selection of wines to try. The food was tasty.

Sass is a place where you pay not only for the quality of the food but for the truly impeccable service. Few dishes, carefully prepared, tasty and served by specialized staff.

The first thing I didn't like was the first time I sat down. He was making a fuss over my two cheeks. Suddenly, he changed his behavior and changed our coffee and came with a smiley face that was different from the first.

Always great there, be it for a meal or an aperitif. Simply elegant and cozy and excellent quality.

Admittedly the service was very friendly and they made an effort, but a lot of things didn't work out (the wrong food was delivered, the drink order was forgotten). The food wasn't lavish, you don't get full. The PokeBowl for 30.- was more of a small salad without anything that could be filling (e.g. rice). The tartare is served without spices and without toast. The rib-eye medium was served max rare. The food at the next table looked better, but that was just an impression. The wine selection is very good! Wouldn't come for dinner again, it's ok for a glass of wine.

Truly a great restaurant/winery! Very friendly staff, and excellent dishes. The quality of the raw material is truly excellent. The wines chosen were also good (we took a Ticino Merlot). The only flaw (this is why I didn't give 5 stars), the vinsanto. From a restaurant/winery of this standing (where you still pay for the quality of the products), I would have expected a top-notch Vin Santo of excellent quality... An advice? Take a look at the Vin Santo Netttare Degli Dei (vinsantobrogioni.com), the best ever tasted and present in some of the starred restaurants in Milan and Florence (I personally discovered it at the starred IYO restaurant in Milan, but I know that it has also been present Aimo and Nadia, at Salumaio di Montenapoleone).

One of the fun things about Lugano, is the many restaurants you can choose from, and we think we found one that stands out from the rest, and that is Sass Cafe Granted there is enough Italian restaurants in Lugano to choke a horse, and Sass Café is not necessarily Italian, it is more international and diverse, but the ravioli dishes they offer as well as the rest of their menu card is really something to enjoy. The service is outstanding as well as the ambiance of the restaurant with nice Jazz music in the background, go and enjoy.

I give one star but I would have given 0! A friend of mine and I (with 3 children) wanted to drink a coffee and we went to this place. The waiter (gentleman in his 50s) didn't even greet us. We asked him where we could sit and this waiter started pointing to all the tables saying "this is reserved, this is also reserved, that is also reserved" etc. Then I asked him which table was not reserved and he didn't even answer us anymore. We asked what his problem was and that we wanted to speak to the manager but he didn't answer us and continued to set the tables. Truly shameful service, could it be because he saw us with the children? As far as this waiter knows, we could spend and spend but I will certainly never set foot in there again.

Let's say it this way: If you have money (or at least look like it) there will be great service and nice staff. If you are "poor" (I'm a student) it won't be very fun in this restaurant. You'll feel like you're not wanted and have low priority to the staff.

What a wonderful lunch 👌 We haven't been served so kindly in a long time, not intrusive but always present when needed. Then the food is top not too little not too much. Conclusion: always happy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We were very disappointed. Very unfriendly staff, very expensive Aperol with little in the glass and the amount on the EC device wasn't even shown. Would absolutely not recommend it.

On the sidelines of the Stralugano, after an intense day working for the event, at 4.50 pm sharp I wanted to sit down for a coffee. The waiter, very unkindly, told me I couldn't because, and I quote, "we are preparing for dinner". Perhaps the whining of certain merchants to obtain covid compensation should really be reviewed. A shame!

Service, location and selected dishes are top quality

I wished I could give a good review. We arrived and asked if we could still eat with two. No problem! We saw two other tables being served and another table watching the menu card. The table was cleaned and dressed, we received the menu card. After 15 minutes the waiter came, to take our order we thought. "The kitchen is closed" and we were made clear it was not possible to order anymore. When slightly protesting by being led to a table and handed the menu, the only explanation was a shrug and a "I can't help it". While tables around us still were eating. Very strange, considering this would be a more higher standing place. We received very good service and food at the competition across the Square.

I was not able to enjoy even a drink at the caffe. First of all the staff was not happy when we said we would like just to have a drink. After waiting 10 minutes and when my father got bored and took the ashtray from the nearby table the waiter took it form his hands and put it back on the table without any explanation. Waiters were adjusting other tables and many customers were waiting to ask the order. This is unacceptable, especially if you are in the main square of a city in Switzerland. Shame on you!

Two stars because the food is very good. On the other hand, the service disappointed us a lot, especially in view of the previous good comments. We ordered two salads as starters and ended up receiving one for two after the main courses. The wine service was also done a moment after receiving the dishes. Waiters and waitresses friendly but visibly overwhelmed. For the price, a bit of a shame!
