Cozy, fine drinks, great concerts.

Everything is nice, cozy, but 7 CHF small beer??? And the bands are financed externally, how much would it cost when S&R has to pay the musicians themselves?

A melon ice cream and above all, salted butter caramel, INCREDIBLE! The person I was with eats it often and clearly described it as "the best she's ever eaten." On top of that, paying in Bitcoin (via Lightning) was extremely simple and much faster than paying by credit card. I recommend with your eyes closed 👌

Great drinks, great bartenders and a really nice bar!

Campari Orange with lots of ice but little orange juice. Campari soda with regular sparkling water. We sat at a free table at the back of the bar. Then more and more people crowded into this area, put their drinks and bags on our table, bumped into us, pushed us. Around the table (yes, all around 360 degrees), people gathered who seemed to be attending a party. The noise level rose until all we could talk to was shouting loudly: Let's go!

Loved the dj set for Fastnacht, nice ambiance there.

Sticky hot. I wanted to get out for a bit after midnight and get some fresh air (alone, without making any noise). Wouldn't have gotten in anymore. I had to wait 10 minutes in the toilet, then three people came out... Service was friendly, good mix of visitors.

Drinks are mixed with a lot of passion and are very good.

Martin did a great job of renovations. Having live bands over the weekends. Great vibes and great drinks. Loves all but Canadians come a long way to have a beer here.

We each had 2 scoops of ice cream (salted caramel & straccatella, raspberry & ginger) and were satisfied. I wouldn't use salted caramel again...it was a little too "buttery" for my taste. But a great idea with selling ice cream (produced locally and regionally!). The waitress was very nice and took her time!

What you are supposedly served here as a scoop of ice cream is a good teaspoonful. Price/performance is not right - at least the semi-skilled staff is very self-confident and defends the situation as "normal here" ‐---------------- Addendum for reference: Dear owner: as I had already told you personally, I had already left my review when you asked me about my satisfaction (I grant you that you did - but I expected this after my direct complaint to your staff). We really didn't feel like eating ice cream at your place anymore, and the fact that you gave all the following guests huge portions compared to us shows a certain learning effect - but it doesn't improve my daughter's sense of justice in particular. In the end, we paid the full price - 19.20 CHF for two espressos and three teaspoons of ice cream without any problems. If you had actually wanted to accommodate us, you would have had the opportunity here. I find your complaint about my review completely unnecessary - Sachall & Rauch .. the name actually seems to say it all?

Great place run by great people, one of my favorite bars in Basel! Also really happy to see it's finally picking up the popularity it deserves. It sure wasn't easy what with the time it took to get the license to have concerts and DJs. And then Corona...

The name, which is reminiscent of the Bible book Ecclesiastes, sounds likeable and inviting. In any case, the experience there was like that and can be recommended for anyone who wants to sip their beer in peace and quiet and who wants and needs to round off the end of the day with a cold sip of Timotheus undisturbed. The service is friendly and competent, so it's fun, you get what you want and you're shielded from all the noise and stress of the day. The restaurant is centrally located and easily accessible, which makes you want to go to another bar, you just have to be able to pay everything to get out of debt-free.

The store looked interesting from the outside. But already inside I noticed that the people had no decency and no desire to serve us. I stood at the bar for 5 minutes and didn't receive a single hello. Service is the be-all and end-all of a good store. I was here for the first and last time!

A very cozy restaurant/bar. There is also live music every now and then. The prices are affordable, definitely not more expensive than the competition. What I liked most is, as the name suggests, you are allowed to smoke in this establishment. (What you smoke is up to you) The guests tend to be younger, although you can find people aged 20 - 60+.

Although the bar is relatively young, I have known and respected the three founding members for a long time. The refreshing charm of the bar, the friendliness towards the guests and the excellent drinks are the result of the high demands they place on themselves and their work. I can recommend a visit to everyone.
