Schiltalp in Lauterbrunnen

Bring cash to buy a beer, ice cream, coffee, cheese... You name it! Truly beautiful setting with cute chickens. Perfection.

I loved stopping here on our hike along the north face trail. We were lucky enough to see the cows being brought in from the pasture for milking.

I understood that we would see the production of cheese.. But there was only a fridge with finished products, coffee and some cake to buy. Which was nice, but not so original in that area. There is no service, however, the manufacturer was kind and helped us change money so that we could also refresh ourselves. Lots of cows along the way. 🙂

A fine stop on the North-face Trail. Just after passing Schiltalp, you get, what I believe are, the best views on your hike.

We were hardly paid attention to and I didn't feel welcome at all. The coffee was fine, unfortunately the cake didn't taste good at all. Fresh? If I had been a little more friendly, I would have bought some cheese.

Beautiful setting. Perfect for a quick snack and a beverage following a hike down from the top. Cash only, on your honor, self serve. Bring small change/bills. Pricing from $3 for a candy/granola bar. $6 for a beer and options for meat and cheese.

Opening times and phone number incorrect, planned our route there and found out that the location was closed! Self service fail...

A nice little place for a (very expensive) yogurt and incredible views!

So beautiful here and we remember having strudel here a few years ago. Alas, it was closed! For the season or forever we do not know.

Very nice young family that sells their own products such as mountain cheese and runs a small bar.

Cheese making farm. Have a tour guide take you if you want to learn about how this place operates. Good cheese, bread, jams.

We attended the Alpine Cheese Tour. One comes to this charming farm for the experience and to learn about the cheese process. The cheese and fresh jam is a bonus. The views are fabulous.

This small farmer's place offers more than self-services, but rather great view if sunny and at home atmosphere.

Very nice cabin with a picturesque view. But beware! The food is a complete rip off. We were used to the hefty Swiss prices, but everything was topped off there. We ordered the large cheese and meat platter for 24 euros and received tiny slices of cheese (less than 100g in total) and four small pieces of salami. Impudence! The restaurant is probably run by holidaymakers during the season. Unfortunately, they didn't have it at all. A pity. That was annoying...

A rustic alpine restaurant that also makes cheese. Food and service was great although they ran out of some things on a busy Sunday in July. Highly recommend. Views are amazing!
