Weidstübli in Lauterbrunnen

My pizza was good, the base was very thin, which I like. My partner had a hamburger. Apparently the fries had already been pre-fried and were therefore completely dry and also lukewarm... The burger contained an ice-cold slice of tomato, which didn't help the burger's warmth, which was a shame. Unfortunately, Weidstübli is currently lacking consistency. We know it differently. The service was good and personal.

Very nicely decorated restaurant with indoor and outdoor areas as well as perfect service and excellent food. The Älplermagronen are highly recommended!

Great restaurant, the best in Lauterbrunnen. During my trip, I tried one other fondue and it was so bad. Was reluctant to give it a try here but after reading the amazing reviews on it here, we ordered it. No regrets, it was awesome! Get the apple streudel dessert!

I would give this place negative 100! I do not like the food, it is horrible AND expensive!!!! NOT WORTH IT! The service was terrible, they weren't nice and were so rude that I thought that this was some kind of Karen diner! I do NOT recommend this place at all!!!!!!! Do not come here because of all the reasons I just listed! Also, we ordered our food, it came wrong, and we STILL HAD TO PAY FOR IT!!!!! If you ever come to this place, turn back!

Restaurant Weidstübli is a restaurant I have visited 4 times over, and it was my go-to restaurant in Lauterbrunnen I've been taking guests who visit me in Switzerland to. I’ve visited with my best friends from my home country, my mother on the 2nd occasion, my beloved niece and nephew on the 3rd occasion and just yesterday afternoon once more with a good friend and her young child. It was a place I was proud to bring my visitors to – Swiss style restaurant set in idyllic surroundings, with relatively good food and more importantly, warm service that made my visitors feel at home. But after yesterday’s visit, I am certain that I will not dine there anymore or recommend anyone else to. We came by at around 130pm on 18 Feb Sunday, happy that the restaurant could take us without a reservation. We were a frazzled bunch – my friend had to urgently feed her child who was famished and fussy from a morning of ski lessons, and my partner and I quite dazed and hungry from a 3-hr drive into Lauterbrunnen. We took a while to get ourselves organized after sitting down at the table, and were trying to juggle between choosing our food and an excited, distracted child. The waitress (the older lady with the short pixie hairdo) came by and asked if we were ready to order. In a frenzy, my friend told her that I would order but I did not hear and process that. What I didn’t realise at that point was that she stood there for a few more moments before going away. When we were ready to order, I smiled and waved to her from a distance, giving her the indication that we were ready. She came over to my side and proceeded to berate me sternly, saying “It would be nice if someone talked to me while I stood there and waited to take the orders”. Again, the frazzled me didn’t immediately process what she said, and I stupidly went “oh ok, no worries”. And this led to a curt retort from her - “and of course, it is “no worries” for you, but not for me”. By the time I made sense of what she was unhappy about, it had already left a bad taste and an atmosphere of awkward-ness at the table. The earlier positive happy vibes from meeting a friend and our enthusiasm to show her what Switzerland has to offer vanished into thin air, and none of us enjoyed our first meal together. I was incredibly embarrassed to leave such a poor early impression of Switzerland on my friend. While I probably should have been more alert and attentive, we didn’t think any of this warranted the behaviour of the waitress. A simple “I see that all of you need a bit more time to make your choices and I will be back shortly” would have sufficed. And this same waitress was warm to me and my party of visitors in the past, so it was immensely confusing and sad to experience. I get that people have bad days and may not feel like exuding warmth and providing personal touches etc, but taking a more professional approach to situations like this should be the basic, non-negotiable protocol. There was really no need for the passive-aggressive and curt attitude in this instance. The food, while above average usual Swiss fare, is nothing to shout home about and quite undifferentiated from a lot of the other restaurants in the area. So the reason I’ve chosen Weidstübli over the rest multiple times was for its previously warm and cheery service. But I now know for sure, the next time I have visitors here in Switzerland, I will be taking them elsewhere in Lauterbrunnen. Dining out in Switzerland is not cheap, and I wouldn’t be risking it on a place which has had a fair share of serious service level misses in the recent years (going by the reviews here). Before I end my review, again going by the responses of the restaurant to the many other reviews here, I know that this is likely not going to sit very well with the restaurant’s owners/team. And they will probably have their version of the truth which will be unreservedly shared as their response. But I stand uncorrected, and leave readers of this review to judge and decide if this restaurant is the place for you in Lauterbrunnen.

Excellent service and delicious food

I recently had one of the most incredible culinary experiences of my life at this amazing restaurant. Its authenticity and mountainous ambiance create a charming setting. From the delectable food to the outstanding staff, every detail made this visit unforgettable. Our waitress was remarkably friendly, and the chefs, absolutely amazing—both in their culinary skills and, I must add, in their good looks. As a lighthearted joke, I even considered taking them home with me.😍🥰 🫣🤭😂 A special anecdote: when I inquired about the yellow one fruit accompanying my brownie, the chef kindly gave me a small fruit harvested right there. The personalized attention elevated the experience to something truly incredible. I urge everyone to pay a visit to this place. The perfectly cooked meat stood out for its texture, flavors, and exceptional fusion. This restaurant is a culinary gem that I recommend 1000%. Don't miss out!

Melted more than delicious! The apple crumble and Kaiserchmarrn are divine! The team is super nice! All this in a magnificent setting, if you don’t pass there you have to stop!

I think it is the best place where you can have lunch or dinner in Lauterbunnen. The food is delicious and the place is very nice.

Poor service, but great food. Took around 15-20 minutes to have our orders taken, upon which we were greeted by a member of staff that was curiously passive-aggressive. That being said, the food was great - especially the Rosti.

Found this gem whilst in Lauterbrunnen and so glad we did. Fantastic food! The gnocchi is without a doubt the BEST that my wife and I've ever had!! Cannot say enough about the quality and flavor of food here.

Great place to have dinner while in Lauterbrunnen!

We were there last Sunday and had a great meal! The food was excellent but the service was also great. We were there with our 8-month-old baby and felt really comfortable. We will definitely come back the next time we visit Lauterbrunnen. Thank you! :)

Very friendly staff!! They helped to accommodate 4 adults and 3 kids with a same day reservation. Food was excellent!! We had the Fondue and Lauterbrunnen Rösti. Perfect to share!! Can't wait to come back!

WOW would be an understatement. We came here two nights in a row because we loved the experience so much, something we don’t usually do when traveling because we like to try new things. Both nights we ordered the soup of the day - a delicious onion and cheese soup. We tried the fondue, burger, and lamb dish as well. Everything was great. The server recommended a drink for us to try after we asked for a recommendation for something sweet. I think it was called Hugo, with syrup from a flower. AMAZING. The service was fantastic, everyone was friendly and upbeat (something we did not experience in Germany or Austria). They even told us when paying with card to choose the local currency and not to convert it to USD, saving us money. We have been traveling Europe for 2 weeks and no one has ever told us that. We will be returning to this beautiful part of the world and when we do, we will visit this restaurant again!

My husband and I recently ate lunch here during a visit to Lauterbrunnen. We ordered the fondue and a Rosti, both of which were absolutely fantastic! We also were able to order Suser, which was delicious. We had excellent service and loved sitting outside. Would definitely recommend stopping here!

Excellent service, they made an effort to speak Spanish. The food is very good and the menu is very extensive. Unlike several places we went, they were super friendly. Highly recommended!! Would go again.

I attempted to eat here for dinner tonight and was rudely turned away. I approached the front desk and waited to be seated and was greeted by an older lady and she asked if she could help me just to tell me sternly they’re full and I’ll have to go somewhere else. I ask her if I can just wait for a table to open up and she acted confused and insulted and told me again they’re full despite seeing plenty of tables open. I would had loved to have ate there tonight, but she didn’t want me to I supposed. Whatever the issue was a little kindness would had not made me feel unwelcome. Edit- The owner likes to respond to every negative review I noticed with deflecting the issues with how their staff treats their customers. You say I should have made a reservation when in reality if your tables are full then a good server will tell you that there is for example, a 30 min wait or when the next available time is. In a town that is mostly used for hiking there is no good way to make a reservation there so after a long hike it would had been nice to have been treated with respect. I had lunch there earlier in the day and the same server that was rude to us based on this review was also annoyed having to serve us. I didn’t think it was worth mentioning until that server was so rude to me later that night. The owner will have no problem getting good business since it’s a high tourist town but they really should take a look at the way their staff treats foreigners and maybe retrain them in how to conduct good customer service so they can avoid the reputation that’s soon to follow.

The worst restaurant I’ve ever been in. I’ve never faced pure racism like this anywhere else. The manager called us names and used slurs on us. They were not serving us because of our skin color and also made fun when I said I’m from Dubai . The manager was so aggressive and told us to go back to our country. He kept using the phrase “this is my country” He kept using slurs like the F word and told us very aggressively to leave the restaurant. All this happened just cause we asked where’s our food. They kept looking down at people with different skin color . This incident had really spoiled our entire trip and shame on them for still treating people differently. I really hope the authorities will take some action on them because as per the reviews, this is not the first time it’s been happening . Overall had a very bad experience in Switzerland because of racist and illiterate people like them . (Them including the two waitresses and the Manager ) .

Delicious, great service, wonderful atmosphere. All of our dishes were delightful. We got the fondue to start, moved to our main courses - steaks, lamb, lentil soup, Rösti, & Raclette. They were all very good! Enjoy your dinner at Wiedstüli!

I think dinner at this lovely restaurant was one of our highlights. The food is worth 6 stars!! The hosts are friendly and really interested in where we are from. Madeleine is sooooo lovely! She is funny, efficient and very friendly!! Highly recommended!!

Guys, the food is nothing special (the chicken was dry and tasteless, besides, the menu indicated that it was supposed to be a breast, but in the photo you can see that there is still a wing on the plate) and I was also surprised that they took money for tap water. I advise you to eat in the city center, at least there is a view there🤷‍♀️ Probably good for campers.

I went there thinking it would be expensive even for Switzerland because it is a restaurant located in a campsite in the mountains, but I was surprised at how good the price was. It’s 15% cheaper than other nearby restaurants. There were many reviews saying that they regretted eating fondue in Switzerland because it was expensive and not tasty, so I tried not to eat it, but I ate it for the sake of experience, and surprisingly, I was very satisfied. I enjoyed it very much. It was recommended that white wine goes well with it, so we had two glasses of house wine and a fondue. We were quite full and satisfied. Recommended if you are staying at a campsite or just stopping by for a leisurely visit!

The noodles were simply a poem. The hamburger can't keep up with that for a long time. Because the noodles were so delicious, a clear 5 stars for the taste. You should definitely make a reservation.

Great little restaurant that I would highly recommend to anyone staying onsite. FYI, closed Mon-Tues, if you want to sit outside, you need to make reservations, both the inside and outside filled up quickly around 5pm, and plenty of vegetarian options. I had the steak which was cooked perfectly and my partner had the no beef burger which she said was ok. I knocked a star off because my wine pour was meager, the fries were ok at best, and it took a very long time to get the bill when requested.

Food was all burnt, from the thin-patty burger to the hard egg on the Rosti. Cold beer served by the amazing Carolina made the evening. We trekked all the way down from Wengen and won’t be back. But seriously, don’t eat here, it’s rating is just inflated being next to a campground where everyone ran out of canned soup and lunchables so think they hit a 5.0 on the first “meal” of their road-trip!🥴😢

Absolutely amazing food, had the fondue and the lamb entrecote

We went to dinner after checking in. We were served by two women who were very nice and close; one of them is Catalan and when she recognized us she attended to us in Catalan. Thank you for everything. The Fondue was delicious and so was the roast.

Fine and small restaurant on the campsite. Be sure to reserve. Unfortunately, the recessions about the long waiting times for food have been confirmed. We had to wait a long time for our food and were repeatedly put off. At least the drinks were on the house (without us saying anything, thank you very much). That's why the service only gets a 3. The service, however, deserves a 5+.

Came here with our family, absolutely had wonderful service, friendliest server we’ve had all throughout Europe. The food was outstanding. The atmosphere was so quaint, and it felt like a perfect Swiss dinner experience… I recommend making a reservation, we just made one the day before when we were walking by, almost everyone we saw waiting had a reservation. Also, the manager was outstanding, came and checked on us a few times very friendly and personable. Highly recommend.

Great restaurant in Lauterbrunnen to try Swiss cuisine 😋 First the location is perfect in the wonderful nature of Lauterbrunnen with a great view 😀 The fondue 🫕 was extremely tasty and it was served with breat, pickles, and garlic 😋 Also another recommendation is ceaser salad. The presentation is great and the atmosphere is wonderful 😀 👌 Little bit pricey (for German prices) but it is worth it 👌

Wasn't a fan of the overpriced veggie burger. As a vegan, I had limited options. Husband enjoyed his meal. Meat eaters have loads of choices!

The restaurant in the camp is open to the public. As far as Swiss food is concerned, it is very delicious.

Skilled team, detailed and brilliantly prepared food! Sitting here is a pleasure in itself! It can hardly be as well organized in a restaurant in the middle of tourists as here.

Found this place over gmaps ratings, so it's only fair to contribute. Had fondue, salad and wine. House white is pretty nice for a house wine, fondue was great, salad was big and tasty. Prices are normal Swiss prices realistically. Staff is super nice, the place is very busy. We came ans made a reservation 2 hours prior to our dinner on a Saturday late afternoon. Going home happy with full bellies!

We arrived there at 9:15 pm and the kitchen was closed already but they were so nice to let us have one last order. The food was amazing, thanks to the chef and the friendly staff working there. The vibe there is really nice 👍

Lovely staff and delicious food !

The food we ordered was amazing. I had lamb and my partner had a burger. The food was great and the flowers outside were beautiful. The only issue, and I do not believe it is a fault of the restaurant, but there were SO MANY FLIES. We spent more time shooing dozens and dozens of flies away constantly that we had a hard time enjoying the delicious meal. At one point I had to stop eating my lentil soup even though I was not finished because 4 flies landed in it at the same time. I wanted dessert , but needed to escape the flies and didn't order any. Again, I don't believe the restaurant was dirty or anything, and I'm not really sure how they would fix this issue but it was very frustrating.

What a delicious place!!!! It's in Lautterbrunnen, at the campsite, but it's extremely pleasant!! Your employees provided special service!! The dishes are large, you can share them and the price is good. The potato rostie is especially delicious!!! There are salads for the fittest. There are hamburgers. Great beers and wines!!! I highly recommend it!!! It is worth it!!!

Wow, the service was great. I love our server she was very happy. Since we did not have reservations and there were only 2 of us, I decided to go on the waiting list. What was nice is they had a tablet that was a no-show, and we got a tablet right away. I have no idea how to make a reservation ahead of time other than calling them. We can from the US and decided to pay the 100 per phone, so we had unlimited cell service. Works great.
