Schurter in Zürich

Since the renovation, it's no longer a comfortable place: it's loud, there's no place to sit - the guests crowd around the outside wall on white, uncomfortable benches without cushions. There is unnecessary emptiness in the middle. What they were thinking is a mystery to me - that's why unfortunately 1 star for the ambience. Pastries and coffee are still good, price is okay depending on the location.

The food is pretty good here and the staff are really nice. The sitting area is not very clean and kind of limited. We had a pretzel, brioche ball, and croissant with nuts. Prices are unnecessarily high. One small ball of brioche is gonna run you 3.50CHF, or approximately 4.50USD and 5CAD. The coffee is also really expensive, with an Americano costing 6-7USD. However, the food is good enough for 4 stars.

I have been a customer at Cafe Schurter for years and enjoyed enjoying a coffee and sweets in the cozy cafe. It's a shame that this is no longer possible after the renovation: apart from uncomfortable cubes, there are neither tables nor comfortable chairs, the cozy atmosphere has given way to a sterile and very uncomfortable hospital atmosphere (concrete floor and everything snow-white). In the future I will only buy bread, it's very good, but I'm sure I won't stay there any longer. Too bad, too bad, too bad!

Today we drank or wanted to drink 1 x espresso, Americano and cappuccino. All three are inedible and extremely bitter. I asked the lady who prepared the coffee about it and she replied "yes, we know it doesn't taste good" but we can't do anything because the bosses aren't there. It's incomprehensible to us why you still offer customers coffee even though you know it's inedible. For me it's just a rip off. The furnishings in the store are very minimal, no real seats or tables. The only positive thing is the toilet, very clean.

The Schurter restaurant is located on Central in the immediate vicinity of Zurich's main train station. There are seating options both inside and outside. We only tried the pastries and no coffee. But the pastries were excellent (amaretti was good and the “mango quark slice” is highly recommended). When the weather is nice, you can enjoy the sun outside (almost right at the entrance to Zurich's old town). The interior of the restaurant, on the other hand, is a bit sparse and outdated and detracts from the ambience. Staff was friendly and prompt.

Small cafe in the center with seating inside and a few tables outside. Welcoming and kind staff, nice and clean place, attentive and fast service but always with friendliness and a smile. Highly recommended for coffee or cappuccino breaks for Italians in Zurich! In fact, both the espresso and the cappuccino are very good. There is a good choice of savory and sweet, all of high quality. Low prices compared to the average offer in the center of Zurich. Excellent for a breakfast, a lunch break or a simple stop. A small, cute, comfortable cafe where we drank latte and ate pretzels. We also tried sfogliatella, but it wasn't as good as the one in Naples. It's nice to come across it in Switzerland :)

Nice cafe beside my hotel. The lady at the counter was very friendly towards me. I ordered hot chocolate which wasnt on the menu. She spoke english well and was very welcoming to me who is a foreigner. This place gives you a wayyy better experience and is more affordable than the starbucks place nearby.

Enjoyed this quaint, yet cozy German cafe tucked in a corner street nearby Old town Zurich. They carry a variety of special German treats & Euro pastries including croissants, tarts, cakes, & other desserts. Hard to choose bc all their baked goods look amazing. We went with a box of fruit custard tarts & pastries. Perfect spot for a quick bite & coffee. Friendly cashiers.

I always enjoy coming here when I'm in town. I still know the café as it looked before the renovation. I was here for the first time about 20 years ago. Many, many years ago, my future grandmother made coffee and cleaned it here, around 1917-1940. She loved drinking a lot of coffee until the end of her life in 1982. I'm happy that my grandmother's life trace is still visible to me in this café. There's a small picture hanging next to the counter from the early days, that's my idea of ​​what it was like here at the time. Today, November 22nd, 2019, I visited Café Schurter at Central in Zurich. Everything was so delicious. The lye peak with egg and bacon, awesome. The two ladies who were working this morning were so nice and accommodating, right in the middle of the city and at Central. Congratulations. I will plan a visit there whenever possible👍. We recommend.

Why folks subscribe to commercial coffee chains is beyond me, especially when you can enjoy home made delights and fresh ground in china cups. A perfect refreshment break and highly recommend if you are in Zurich, Old Town.
