Schützengasse in Zürich

Tasty Italian, food, service okay. Wine selection wonderful. In the evening, very crowded and extremely loud, difficult for conversation in groups.

Ate in the restaurant upstairs on Saturday evening. Starter, prawns and tuna: very good and tasty. Main course, pumpkin risotto and risotto with Cima di Rapa: both overcooked (sfatto) and bland. Red wine had cones and was taken back and exchanged, but the new wine also had cones (probably from the same bottle). Service attentive and good. All in all, a rather disappointing visit to the restaurant. Even considering the relatively high prices, you can expect more. Price-performance ratio is not right. Bar downstairs: cool sound, good atmosphere, but also a testosterone-charged atmosphere. Very good drinks (Whisky Cola).

As soon I came in they started insisting that I had some water, they have a variety of wine but very limited glass wine, for a single person, the food was very expensive, but not good, my pasta was full of olive oil, and tasted a veal and beef, a very intense taste, I didn’t finish, I had to ask for lemon to cut the taste of excess oil, it’s expensive and not good. The glass Italian glass was good though.

One of the most terrible restaurants in a long time. The food was okay, but the restaurant was cramped, way too loud (which is why we left before dessert), and the service was unfriendly. The best part of the evening was when we could finally leave.

Away from the ski pistes of Gstaad and S. Moritz, still there is an in-place in Zurich: Schützengasse! Cool service, perfectly well prepared food over a wide range of options including vegetarian and fish, fabulous wine selection and booming atmosphere, always great fun!

The restaurant has been around for quite a while and it is impressive how the quality of the food is kept consistently high. The service is also very uncomplicated and friendly. The only downside is that it gets extremely noisy, especially at lunchtime. I recently went for a business lunch and there was a special party going on at the next table. In itself very pleasant, but it was no longer possible to have a conversation sitting at the table next to it.

Sorry but if it ever prints..., . Then I left and found the Insider Restaurant at Löwenstrasse 64, went in and went straight to the toilet. Afterwards I ordered something to drink, even though I wasn't necessarily thirsty, but I thought it was fair and wonderful. Whatever I wish that the lady grows up to be as old as me and hope that she will never find herself in such a situation. As for me, I don't think I'll ever go to the Schützengasse restaurant to eat; a shame for the chef and the team. Disappointing! We had a reservation for 4 people, but were rejected because we ended up only showing up with 2 people. The table “is for four people, not two.” Both the waitress and the boss behaved extremely arrogant and unfriendly. This experience spoiled our mood and therefore I cannot recommend this restaurant under any circumstances. Guests should hope for better service and a friendlier atmosphere here. Zurich decadence in its purest form!

A fantastic dining experience next to Zurich main station. The size of the restaurant isn't that big and thus a reservation is recommended. If crowded, the noise level is quite high. There is also seating space outside, which makes this a very nice place in case the weather conditions allow it. The food and the service were of great quality and the menu offers a nice variety of dishes. The wine menu shows a tasteful selection of nice wine and a good subset is available by the glass.

We wanted to try this restaurant because it was quite hyped. Unfortunately, it was just hype. It is extremely loud in this restaurant, which would have been forgotten with a good meal. But the food is pretty average with an extremely high price tag. I ordered the meatloaf, which is definitely not prepared every day. You could taste it, but the taste wasn't the best either. The sauce had been thickened with a sauce thickener to the point where it looked like gelatin. Cordon Bleus were also tasteless and simply not worth it for this high price. The service was nice. Wouldn't go to this restaurant again.

I give this place a 10 out of 10 and cannot recommend it enough! My partner and I visited Zurich for the first time and ended up having dinner at Schutzengasse twice. The service was impeccable - our waiter Bruno and the team were very professional and friendly at the same time. They clearly care about their customers and providing an amazing dining experience. When it came to ordering, we asked for both food and drink recommendations and were impressed with everything we tried. The quality of the dishes and drinks was exceptional. I would definitely recommend Schutzengasse to anyone, and plan to tell my friends and family about this great place.

There's always something going on in Schützengasse... especially on Thursday and Friday evenings. No chance without a reservation.

Middle-class cuisine with decent prices

Typical bottomless Zurich decadence. Our table was given away early. But the people at the table were already eating. Reason for giving away: We keep a “black list” and pay attention to who had made a reservation and never showed up. Why was the reservation made at all?! Waste of time

I would have given 3.5 stars, but rounded its 4. Let’s start with the good. Service was very attentive, quick, organised. Definitely a 5 stars from that perspective. On the otherhand: Setting: Very dark inner space, couldn’t really see my plate. Also rather noisy setting - it doesn’t have to be calm but it has more of a pub sound level then a restaurant one. Then again, it was sold out crowded so have to give the benefit of the doubt here. Now the food. Food presentation was good, but the tartars were rather tasteless. It was just plain although the meat or fish part should be the one that splashes out. For the main - cordon blue. Disappointing in two ways. Both the schnitzel and cordon blue are not offered with potato salads to the side- only fries. For me, potato salad has to be the main offering, with fries as the option. Secondly, ketchup and mayo were served before, with preisselbeeren only offered when asked for. Also here - if you want to make the dish stand out, preisselbeeren is the base with a side offering of ketchup mayo. It’s the small details. Dessert - not much to complain about, was very nice :) As said - service well on point and attentive.

Nice atmosphere, very nice staff and stimulating food. But an unbearable noise level in the room. There were six of us and... We could only just talk to our immediate neighbors. It's a shame for the effort the team puts in.

My work colleagues and I dined yesterday in Schützengasse. The ambience and quality of the wine and food were very good. The positive experience was rounded off by the excellent service from the serving lady. She was not only extremely charming and humorous, but also very attentive. Hop Cameroon or maybe Switzerland ;-)

I was in the restaurant with my family/+baby and we wanted to enjoy a particularly nice evening. We just wanted to order a good red wine, beer, water and three appetizers. Then the unbelievable and embarrassing situation began. The unfriendly and loud waitress told us that we had to order a main course with every starter or we couldn't order anything. They are not “that kind of restaurant” where you can do something like that. We started discussing because we had been to this restaurant several times before and had received very nice service. The wine we wanted to order was expensive. Then the waitress made us order at least one main course. We broke everything off, paid for the drinks and left. In my opinion it wasn't a good place to take your family. Nobody can force you to order something. The service was bad. There are many other restaurants where you feel better.

Our evening yesterday was simply wonderful and the hospitality was TOP! The food is also fantastic 👌🏼. We'd love to come back! Thank you very much, dear Schützengasse team.

I've been there for years because I used to really like it. Unfortunately I have to change my mind. The food was much worse than before and the noise level is incredibly unpleasant at dinner time. The unjustified success also seems to have gone to the boss's head. - It's a shame! This used to be one of my favorite places!

Food very good, great meat, cozy atmosphere. But: The service was too fast and rather impersonal; you got the feeling that they would like to just collect the money and call it a day. Even if it was on a Tuesday evening, for 320 for two I expect a different quality of service. A pity.

If you want to eat a wonderful Italian pasta, this is definitely the right place. The food is excellent and the service is very courteous and friendly. In terms of cuisine, 1 A, I would even give it 6 stars. The only thing that doesn't make the atmosphere so comfortable is the noise level. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated, but there is a lack of "cushioning" because you almost can't understand your own words. A heartfelt thank you for this real feast and the extraordinarily loving service. So good that I'm happy to come back despite the noise.

Casual service, no restaurant fuss, but a good mix of Mediterranean and Swiss cuisine as well as a decent wine list with fair prices. If you don't mind sitting on the scooter, there is also a garden terrace with seating. Speaking of “noise”: if you want to be in the middle of the city on the main road/main street, you can hardly expect rural peace and quiet.

The food is okay. However, the noise level in the restaurant is completely unpleasant. It's so loud that you have to shout at the other person at the table to have a conversation. The seating is very tight. The focus here is not on the well-being of the guest, but on maximizing profits. A pity.

Terribly bad service. We were turned away when we tried to order a drink on the terrace. We weren't even asked if we wanted to eat something afterwards.

The food was super tasty. The service was very accommodating and thank you for your understanding about the wine.

We reserved a table for 4 people two weeks before the date. On the day of the evening, the restaurant calls us by phone and asks us to leave the table after 1 hour because they ignored a crossover. I find it extremely bad that the reservations are only looked at and checked on the same day. Unfortunately we couldn't go out to eat anymore because we really wanted to go to this restaurant. But all the recommendations we received from friends are no longer a reason to eat there. Catastrophe!

Good filet with pepper sauce, a perfectly cooked tuna steak and excellent fries in a nice hall, fit for small groups as it’s quite hectic. Bread is also very good, and service is efficient.

Excellent food, service beyond reproach and just a huge wow. A real gem right next to Zurich HB. It's always full during lunchtime and for that reason it's rather loud. Okay for a casual business lunch, but if you want something quieter, not the best place.

I love this restaurant! You could bathe in the truffle ravioli, it's so delicious! The staff is always friendly and there is always a good atmosphere. What I really appreciate is that the owner is always on site. Lovely again!:)

We spent > 1000 CHF, 6 out of 7 people had food poisoning symptoms, immediately (3) or the day after. We informed the staff in a friendly way because it is just normal in such a situation to give feedback. The restaurant manager reacted in a rude & aggressive way where we felt the need to calm down the situation. Instead of offering apologies - which is the minimum to do in such a situation - they started arguing and justifying by showing us receipts from their suppliers which we never even asked for. Total no go and I will definitely spread the word. Food was okayish, nothing great.

Veal cordon bleu wasn't that good, I expected more for this price. The ceviche was cooked fancy, but not good. As a South American, definitely not a good ceviche. I had a lot of stomach pain after eating. I think something was wrong with the fish. The staff was mediocre, unfriendly, arrogant. But the ambience is great.

Excellent restaurant with reliably good food over many years, and has a wonderful terrace for summer. Food very tasty and well presented. It's not cheap (however also not overpriced) - standard price for a steak in the centre of Zürich. Reservations essential. My only complaint is putting tables of different parties right next to each other. When we're paying 100chf+ per person, I don't particularly like to be at a table 5cm away from the next group, struggling to hear the conversation on my own table.

After a long time again with a small group in Schützengasse. The food was terrific. The service was as it has been for years, professional and friendly. There are always fresh details in the food and the furnishings. We'd love to come back.

Salad was good. the lunch pasta was really not good, sorry. Completely overcooked. Moreover, they dont care about 1.5 m distance. No thank you, not anymore for me.
