Schweizerhof-Central in Andermatt

I ate well there (daily menu at 27-.) it’s Italian.

Stayed there for one night while traveling through Italy. The staff was nice, helpful and helped us with a parking option because it was our first time there and we didn't know our way around, the streets/parking spaces in Andermatt are so limited and narrow and also because the hotel has very few parking spaces and everything was occupied . The hotel itself has a very nice antique, rustic and well-kept style. Since almost everything inside is made of wood (floor, doors and stairs), you could sometimes hear some of your neighbors walking up/down stairs, for example. Here and there you could hear the squeaking of people climbing stairs from the room, so the walls are pretty thin so to speak, but let's keep in mind that according to the information the hotel is said to be more than 115 years old, perhaps suggesting that a renovation is needed here and there without the original picture to damage?! Room was well maintained, there is free Wi-Fi from the house, breakfast was very good, there is a restaurant but I can't say anything about it, we only had breakfast, we spent the night well, very quiet in the evenings around Andermatt (from a certain time onwards) , you don't hear any noise, which was/is good if you want to sleep properly and well, especially for people traveling through, or at least maybe I was so tired from the car trip that I didn't hear anything☺️🤷‍♂️ . I think, and I mean that in general, that this hotel was the cheapest we found in Andermatt and the surrounding area, in Switzerland it is known to be very expensive compared to other countries, just under €300 for one night, for a 2 star hotel, nothing All the same, I think, coming from Germany, that's a bit much! But well, Switzerland is known to be typical for this, traditionally special and unique, not for poor people🤣 But repeat, in Andermatt and the surrounding area, this hotel was, by a large margin compared to others, the cheapest, at least according to the search on Booking , so this hotel is priced, ultimately quite “cheap” for “Swiss standards”. About the town of Andermatt, all I can say is beautiful, known, among other things, for the fact that 007-Goldfinger was filmed here in 1964 and whose film crew lived in Andermatt during the Swiss filming (☝️but not in this hotel☺️), just in passing. Otherwise beautiful landscapes, a visit to Andermatt and the surrounding area is absolutely worth it! There are also good road connections directly to the A2, for example, which is suitable if you are passing through. If you are coming from Lucerne/Basel, for example, the Andermatt exit is just before the Gotthard tunnel. Exit Andermatt/Realp/Furkapass etc. I give the hotel a good 3 stars because we explored the town and surrounding area for a few hours before continuing our journey (Andermatt and 20/30km all around i.e. Realp, Furkapass to the Rhone glaciers) , I would like to rate the town and surrounding area with 4 to 5 stars! Beautiful!

Enthusiastic staff. The handsome staff responded promptly. I would describe the food as average. Lots of European and American customers.

Hotel from the late 50s. No longer an option as a stay. Very loud at night. A bar opposite
