Somewhat nice place with a friendly staff lifting up your mood with jokes. I've tried their specialty - cordon blue with a Münster cheese. That was such a huge portion that two small people could be satisfied with it. There was no chance I could have finished it, so half of it I took home :) Cordon blue was really delicious and filled with plenty of cheese. Aside they served some fries and veggies

A really cozy place! The Garden Restaurant is, in my opinion, a sensation. Children's high seats are also available. Me and my colleagues really enjoyed the food. Good portions, a salad menu and a super friendly waiter round off the absolutely positive picture that emerged during our visit. For my part, I will be happy to visit the Sommereck again!

The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside. In complete contrast to the interior, which, to our surprise, was relatively nicely furnished and maintained. However, there are some shortcomings in terms of comfort and ambience, including the not really comfortable seating and the dubious badges on the wall. The menu is quite varied, but you can also see a few small errors in terms of spelling, because the lack of Italian knowledge of the specialists suggests that the owner is not really from the Italian-speaking area, but that is not a major point of criticism should. Now for the important part. In our opinion, the food was quite enjoyable, although there were no major defects, except that the courses came a little too quickly for our pace. You can't complain about the staff, although certain sideways glances were found to be annoying. Finally, of course, there is always the price, which is clearly one of the restaurant's strengths; it was very reasonable for Basel standards. The route to the sanitary facilities was exhausting, but the toilets themselves were fine. We would like to come back if we get the chance. Greetings Valerio and team

Time has stood still here in a pleasant way. I haven't eaten here for about 10 years. But it still tastes just as delicious as it did back then.

Go to an another restaurant. The restaurant is not Italian, the service is very bad and we (with 2 kids) waited 1 hour and 25 min for the pizzas despite the restaurant was only half full. Food quality is below the average that you can find in Basel, but the price is in line with the average of much better restaurants. The names of the menu are misleading and the owner is extremely ill-bred. My suggestion: go to somewhere else!

Friendly service, good food. My cordon bleu was large and the fries were sufficiently crispy. My partner ordered an "Insalata gigante" (a gigantic salad). But the only thing that was huge was her disappointment with the embarrassing portion of starters. At least her complaint worked: without discussion, a normal mixed salad was served, free of charge, and together the salad portion was large enough. We thanked this customer service with an extra tip.

It was delicious, the best cordon bleu I've ever tasted. Plus in many variations. Of course also a real pizza and delicious lamb fillets. Very friendly service, treated the in-laws very kindly. Ground level toilet. We'll be back👍

Inspired by the Basel Hunkeler crime novels, I always wanted to go there. Now the time had finally come. It is a very cozy inn with many dishes that can be classified as home cooking, as well as a respectable selection of pizzas and cheese fondue is also on offer outside in the tent. We chose beef carpaccio and a pizza and both were excellent, and the feel-good factor was also high. Thank you very much, we will be back and are looking forward to spending time in the beautiful guest garden :-)

Ich war heute in dem Restaurant Sommeregg in Basel, es fiel mir besonders auf, wie angenehm der Kellner mich bedient hat, ich bekam sogar einen Salat gratis. Ich as Rehgeschnetzeltes mit Rotkraut, Marois, Handgemachte Spätzle, angeröstet und vor zwei Tagen Rehkordonbleu, Berner Art mit Speck und Zwiebel, ich muss sagen, das waren die beste Rehgerichte was ich jemals gegessen habe. Das Restaurant, ist Typisch Basler Altstadt, also zum verlieben und Wohlfühlen. Empfehlung von Klaus

Die ruhige Lage (besonders auch zu Mittagszeiten), das äusserst freundliche und hilfsbereite Personal und ein ansprechendes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis haben sehr überzeugt. Definitiv weiterzuempfehlen!

schlechter Salat, im sinne von einen suppenteller sauce und einem hämpfchen salat, essen solala, jedoch himmeltraurige bedienung und sehr unfreundlich, das ganze. würde ich nicht grad gar nicht empfehlen, in der gegend, am st. johannsring, (den st. johannsring vom Sommereck ca. 100 m gerade runter und dort isses) gibts aber auch das café rosenkrantz (oder wie sich das schreibt), und die geben sich wirklich mühe und sind auch sehr gut

Immer im Sommer essen wir mit unserer Gruppe im Sommereck. Auch dieses Jahr waren wir begeistert; die Speisekarte ist reichhaltig und man hat Mühe sich auf ein Gericht festzulegen. Die Preise sind für Alle erschwinglich heisst günstig. Die Leistung aber auf einem hohen Niveau. Kommt noch der aufmerksame, freundliche Service dazu. Ein rundum gelungener Abend. Bravo weiter so!

Waren mit Freunden dort, auf den 1.Blick tolle Sommerkarte, aber das Tartar grau, Vitello tonnato zum Menupreis kaum als Vorspeise geeignet...Küche sehr auf minimal und lieblos... Nur für ein kühles Bier in schönem Garten zu empfehlen.

Nice restaurant or pizzeria. Typically simple, but skilfully finely furnished. Good service, very child-friendly. House wine was delicious, as was the pizza. There was just a bit too much vinegar on the salad. It's better to order the dressing separately.

Offers a wide range of Italian food. Our group of three had a mix of pizza and pasta menus, and all of them were really tasty. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the restaurant has a nice outside garden. Good for families and groups, as even while being quite full (Friday evening) one was easily able to converse with each other.
