Sommet in Gruyères

Were guests on the mountain with a large group. A fondue Moitie Moitie was promised. Unfortunately, it didn't come close to meeting our expectations. We all felt that the fondue was more like raclette, which wasn't that hot. It also didn't satisfy us in terms of taste. In addition, the weather was anything but intoxicating. At least things got better towards the end of our stay. So we were anything but enthusiastic, we certainly wouldn't order a fondue there again, we've had much better experiences.

From Moléson, you can pay 18.- for a sandwich!

The view is certainly the only reason to come to this place so wonderful and on the edge of reality. A panorama that takes your breath away. Regarding the place, it can go for a break, a coffee, a cup of tea, but for food we were really disappointed: the prices are honest, but we were a little deceived by the photos from a few months ago, the dishes don't seem to come from a kitchen but by a novice snecchist. Oh yes, I would gladly pay a lot more to have table service, a waiter and dishes cooked and served with criteria, and as a waiter I have been lucky enough to work in the best restaurants in my area for more than 20 years, and I can state that the potential of this place is not exploited at all. Too bad, I'll be back... for a coffee and the great view

Magnificent view in good weather. Very welcoming staff. Disappointing cuisine when we were served a quiche in the form of a tartlet, it was good but at a high price!

Ambians is very beatiful,but I bought a cup of soap,I found an hair into the bowl,then I changed my soup..This time I saw a piece of plastic in my soap...Hygen conditions are not enough

Were there before Halloween. Magnificent view on the mountain top. Self-service restaurant. Rösti with sausage is not recommended, too fatty and no salt.

Le Sommet restaurant is an incredible place to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view. The cuisine is delicious with refined dishes and a warm atmosphere. You should definitely go! 😄🍽️

We wanted to eat a Vachrin fondue, which is particularly appreciated here! It was just catastrophic! A shame for the canton.

On a clear day a magnificent panorama with a view of Lake Geneva, Lake Neuchâtel

At 11:50 a.m. we were able to enjoy the last two dishes of the day. Great lack of umbrellas so tables in the shade squatted for hours by the same people. We will go back there but with the picnic.

Very beautiful place. Extraordinary view. Beautiful hikes nearby. Pretty self-service restaurant terrace. Lots of choice of dishes. The cheese dishes are very good and plentiful.

A few hiccups in the kitchen...but above all a very poorly behaved employee who was found to be insolent...In short, this is the 7th time I've been there and the service leaves something to be desired since covid

Always a pleasure to go to the top of le Moléson. Not only because of the magnificent view over French speaking Switzerland. Expect to see Lac Léman, Lac de Neuchâtel, Lac de Gruyère and numerous mountain peaks. Expect an equally amazing sun rise or sunset if you decide to go early in the morning or if you decide to stay late in the evening. That's right, Moléson is one of the places where lifts stay open in the evening on certain days in the week. Le Sommet restaurant itself has a beautiful terrace (and a second terrace for pic-nic). Has both self-service or service at the table, very friendly staff and even the food tastes good. Have a look at the website of moleson to found out the special arrangements (tapas and wine or burger night etc).

Didn't have the opportunity to try the restaurant, just took advantage of this incredible, nay, astonishing view during this 15th Star Day provided by three astronomers with their telescope. Saturn is magnificent with its rings!

Magnificent place, we wanted to go down on foot from the middle, so be careful, stony road, and very sloping. 1 hour journey. We got there (60 years old). Cool.

The view is really very beautiful. You first have to take a cable car to the "middle station", change and take a gondola to the summit. It has picnic areas. Unfortunately the food in the restaurant is pretty bad. Too little space to eat. The soup was lukewarm, the fries were rubbery, the vegetables were soft and the meat was bland.

A fondue for 4 people was pretty much the worst I've ever eaten. A chewing gum mass fits the description of the consistency very well. If it had been edible, it wouldn't have been enough for 4 people. Plus a bottle of 7.5dl white wine for an overpriced 35.- as well as fondue!! We will never eat there again. We also had to wait for one thing or another, even though there were only a few guests and 3 service staff. We were honestly disappointed with this restaurant visit!

Unfortunately the fondue was below average, there is better. The taste is ok, but the consistency is almost like chewing gum. And the bread that was served with it was just hard. I would recommend another dish.

The panorama is beautiful. The restaurant is pretty. The person who welcomed us was smiling and friendly. We ordered a fondue for 2 people. We have never had a bad fondue with no taste, gummy and oily. We didn't finish the dish so as not to get sick. Just disappointed. As we have just done the climb on foot. And, we wanted a good Friborg fondue so really disappointed. The meringue and double cream dessert was good. And the prices are not cheap to eat. Not counting the price of the red bull at 7.-.

Stunning view, but the fondue was way too small for the price we paid. We had to stop at Gruyere for a double creme to compensate for that tiny lunch...

I went to brunch with my family. The price is absurd, CHF 70, - per person (funicular + canteen). The staff at the self-service restaurant were nevertheless friendly.

The panorama is beautiful. Great view from the terrace. The fondue for two people was a complete disaster. The specified amount of fondue (440g) was never adhered to! The fondue was supposed to be heated with 4 small rechaud candles, which of course didn't work. The beeper to pick up the fondue didn't work either. Unfortunately the staff isn't exactly friendly. Unfortunately, no information is written in German. The service area only opened at around 12.30 p.m.

There is nothing else on top of the mountain,so this is the only choice for a coffee or food. I understand these prices, but this could be a jewel on the mountain,attract people only for it. The food was good and traditional, but with a lot of fat, and basic. Self service (as the part with the service,makes no difference because it has the same food choices but higher prices), and there is no charm. I was expecting something premium, but that's the only choice. Boring

The fondue was very tasty and even relatively cheap for a summit restaurant. The restaurant was busy, but you can enjoy nice views in many places.

The restaurant is very friendly, the warm atmosphere, the mountains surround you and it is exceptional. We had a truffle fondue 🫕 it was delicious, well stocked and very tasty. Bravo to the cooks! The minus star is for the waitress, disappointed with her way of expressing herself, we sit down, she takes us our fondue does not light it and starts to leave first time I see this I kindly ask her to let me know turn on because I'm not used to doing this every day in a humorous tone of course I laugh with her. She answers me angrily “that’s good for me either” I would like to understand why this person works in the company in this case? If she's not happy to be there. She seems annoyed and overwhelmed, she still came back to ask us if everything was going well but we are disappointed by this lack of good humor, and at the same time this awkwardness in her speech. Comfortable restaurant, very dependent on customers, with great food! A breathtaking view.

Great for drinking a coffee before flying away, splendid view, from the moléson I see my house.

Once you are done escalating the via ferrata, get yourself a nice scoop or a warm drink while enjoying the nice panoramic view or even if you just reach the summit via the cabins :)

Since there are quite a few visitors, the staff is stressed. This made it quick to cook. The fries weren't quite cooked through, the bratwurst was almost warm, rather cold. There were foreign objects in the fries, probably something else was fried in them. What a pity. But if you don't eat there, you haven't missed anything.

High altitude restaurant with the constraints that go with it. However, very well managed. A little lack of explanation on the principle of the self. The fondue was delicious. The panorama is CRAZY! In short, great experience!

A magical point of view, the dishes served were good but a disjointed organization, too much waiting for a single cash register and a lot of staff going around in circles. All the same an outing which has a certain price for a family, transport and restaurant, many take the picnic and invade the terraces without clearing up.

Arriving as a couple, we were surprised and spoiled by a huge brisolée (Sunday only!), enjoyed in the restaurant with an extraordinary view. friendly and helpful staff

Self-service mountain restaurant, average decoration, small menu, we chose a hamburger with fries and a small salad. The fries are very good, the meat is not cooked through but rather blue, the AOP gruyere cheese invisible, everything bland, in short you have to make an effort or stop offering this dish, although it is simple to make.

Suitable for a ski resort restaurant. The mountain rösti is served correctly and in large quantities. Reasonable prices.

We were disappointed with the kitchen. The mushroom rosti portion is tiny and tastes average. Unfortunately, the cheeseburger is borderline inedible. The meat was unseasoned and still raw inside, the lettuce leaves were limp, the cheese was far too dominant and had a strange taste... The fries were in the deep fryer for far too long. The view is absolutely amazing. But the food definitely can't keep up.

Good basic Mountain food. Self service but the main course is prepared on the fly. At times they can be very slow but kind service.

Top of the mountain, so of course view is stunning. I had a sausage with fries and to be honest it was a very poor meal choice for me, I really wasn't enough and fries weren't even good. My girlfriend, had Rösti with mushrooms which tasted delicious. Overall there is not much choice, but I enjoyed it.

Magnificent view and great for fade lovers

Super hike starting from the big plane, at a good pace climb in 1 hour to the summit, super loop passing through Teysachaux. Magnificent and accessible landscape for all levels, you just have to take your time and enjoy it... magnificent! Allow between 3 and 4 hours for the loop with small breaks.

There is a tremendous panorama for lunch

The view from the terrace is just great. We ate something small, the cold plate of meat and cheese was of very high quality. Especially the sausage with herbs was absolutely delicious. For dessert we had meringue with double cream and the chocolate cake. This food is also very fine. Personally, I think the prices are justified considering that everything has to be carted up the mountain by train. I'm happy to pay a little more and have good quality.

Given it is reachable by cable car it is very touristy, though the food is really good. And of course you get the views to it, too.

This place is important. It is not at all easy to manage an establishment that is completely dependent on the weather! Personally, the lift and restaurant prices are too high! We need help from the Canton of Friborg for these magical and tourist places to lower prices. Thanks to the manager and staff!

Is an interesting resting point on the Moléson. You can enjoy delicious food and drinks in the restaurant. Tables with a view of the Alps. Nice after a mountain walk from Moléson-sur-Gruyères (Moléson-Village).

Prices overpriced, food quality just average. It was cold and windy in the restaurant as the wind was blowing and the front door was open and blocked.

Unpleasant cashier, minimalist menu, the mushroom rösti are unconvincing and the organization is absolutely chaotic in the restaurant, but the prices remain 3-star version... Fortunately the site is magnificent but I recommend taking a picnic…

Lunch kitchen only opens from 11.30 a.m. You have no chance of getting anything beforehand. The summer menu on offer is cheeky! Everything except pasta with sauce and nuggets with fries has been canceled. Prices are totally overpriced. I recommend a visit to the mountain (the view is wonderful) but not a visit to the restaurant!

Honestly, nothing to say. We went for July 31st and great atmosphere. Typical and delicious meal. The staff was great! Hassle-free table reservation.

We ordered a minimum of 250 grams of fondue, based on the main dishes the person saw on the counter, but ultimately they brought 750 grams and explained that was the minimum for three adults. Despite our objections, they shook hands and said the minimum amount of fondue was for you. Show someone who, after the first course and part of the second, can eat 250 grams of fondue himself!

Mixed experience at the restaurant: tasteless veal sausage (and that's an understatement!), Clairette chalet soup, no mint tea, average coffee, all that for a relatively high price. Too bad for tourism!

The two of us had dinner in the restaurant on Friday evening. When we wanted to order from the menu, we were told that there was only fondue in the evening. So we ordered a fondue for 25.- per person. When we were able to get the fondue at the self-service counter, we thought they were taking us for a fool. A small mini pan of thick fondue (maybe 200g-250g cheese) that is intended for a maximum of one person. When we both finished eating, we were disappointed and had to make a trip to McDonald's to get our fill... My recommendation: eat at the Plan Francey middle station. You can enjoy top service with good food at affordable prices. In my opinion, the restaurant Le Sommet is just “Foutage du geule”

The word to remember is disappointed! We went up as a family to celebrate birthdays, thinking of enjoying the hamburgers at the top of Moléson. For the service, to review: Our poor waiter had to try 3 times to take our order correctly and despite this, one dish was forgotten and another reversed. For the meal : The hamburgers were more like tartare between two slices of bread. The one intended for the child was all tough and the meat cold. Why disappointed? A dish charged at 27chf, the level of service and the taste is simply not there. I think efforts need to be made. You can't improvise as a restaurateur, it's a job! The second star is for the setting with a beautiful view of our region as well as the friendly person who took care of taking the cabins up and down.

This is indeed a restaurant with a view. Very accessible via car and just 5km ahead of Gruyère. You can park your car just next to the funiculaire station. The parking is free. SBB discounts don't work here but the tickets are discounted for senior citizens and children. The train takes you to a cable car, which takes you to the restaurant. The restaurant is self serve mostly with fondue cheese burger and rosti as highlight. Above the restaurant of you climb two flights of stairs there is a beautiful panaromic view of switzerland with main cities and mountain peaks labeled. Wear warm clothes and if you love ski then plenty of options on route too.

CHF 7.50 for a piece of cake and CHF 5.50 for a 0.5l Rivella bottle is just cheeky! The view, however, is wonderful and so is the drive there. It's a shame that exorbitant prices exist in such a beautiful place.

I might give the award for worst cheeseburger I've ever eaten. So dry, burnt meat, mini slice of "cheese" which looks more like plastic, dry bread, non-existent sauce.... Veal sausage barely cooked, only the fries are good. You also have to be patient at the checkout... The view is great, luckily it helps to get through the meal!

It's a noble feeling when you sit on the terrace and enjoy a cheese fondue with friends - but it also has its price. There is also a soup for those on a tight budget.

We had to wait 50 minutes for two plates of rösti and two plates of children's pasta. And frankly, the taste is poorer than in a school canteen (no seasoning, industrial tomato sauce). But we had to pay an addition of CHF 72. I will not go to this restaurant again.

Very disappointed with my experience this afternoon. Long wait for a very mediocre and tasteless dish. Vegetable rice? uncooked rice, Brussels sprouts, apples and chestnuts. Where are the vegetables? Unfriendly and abrupt staff. Impossible to come out of the restaurant with a dish without jostling everyone. Distressing fries...

Magnificent place! With a friend, we ordered Friborg rösti: we had to wait 1h30 to be able to taste them and we couldn't even eat them together since 2 beeps announcing that the dish was ready sounded 15 minutes apart. Big disappointment: in fact, the restaurant is understaffed and fails to satisfy most of the tourists who complain just like us!

Exceptional and captivating place. Unfortunately the kitchen is not up to par, to be absolutely avoided! 1h30 wait for fondue for 2 people. and pasta plate for our 5 1/2 year old child. All customers in the same situation. Too bad.

This place is magical for its view and its sunset but not recommended for its food. Experience done Saturday evening A cold plate with almost nothing on it for 24 francs. We went back there on Sunday and ordered a fondue for two people. When we receive it there is not even half the pot for two. I go back to the kitchen to say we ordered for two people, but they wouldn't ask, saying they weighed. We got barely 100 grams per person for 48 francs plus a supplement of 5 francs for pdt for one person. Who are we kidding??? Really unfortunate that our Switzerland is represented like that.... On the other hand, the girls in the department were overloaded with work but they knew how to keep a smile... I will go back but certainly not to eat!!!
