Incredibly beautiful ambience, great service... very friendly and the food was more than delicious... We recommend ...

Arrived at 4 without reservation... they found us a table and ate excellent meat over a wood fire.

Stopped in for lunch spontaneously when the weather was bad and was very satisfied... Super friendly, great selection, delicious food. We'd love to come back!

Can be summed up in one sentence: by far the best thing on the mountain! Top quality, top service, great wine list, wonderful restaurant. The prices are absolutely reasonable for the above-average quality.

How this restaurant, inaccessible by car, on the slopes, maintains such an exceptional standard of food throughout the years is beyond me. Food outstanding. Locally inspired with some Italian favourites, anything from Polenta with braised cheeks to wood fire grilled spare ribs, meats and exceptional sausages. Great, friendly service that makes one feel like a truly valued guest. Great wine menu. Worth the treck every single time. Bravo! My favourite place in Films on and off the piste.

By far the very best (premium) mountain hut in Flims-Laax-Falera. The Crostinis (spare ribs) and the Wiener Schnitzel are particularly recommended. The wine cellar is also full of treasures.

Food great bacon unique! Friendliness is incredible! Child-friendliness is excellent! Charcoal grilled meat is legendary! Recommended: we will definitely come back, Kudos to Christian and his team.

The outside bar was great, the atmosphere is very nice, a funny bartender who juggles snowballs when all the guests have been served. The food was also very good, but unfortunately the waitress was really unfriendly. Addressed individuals about the color or pattern of the shirt when ordering with a commanding tone: “Striped?!” "Yellow?!" The wine was placed a right distance away from our table near other guests. You can do it if you pour more carefully enough. So we kept practically going to the next table.

Even under Christian, very good food and nice wine selection

Very cozy hut, known for meat grilled on an open fire. Very good food, unfortunately not cheap. Reservation is strongly recommended...

For lunch I ordered the daily salad with pork rind and fried potatoes. Beautifully prepared plate and the rind is a poem. Restaurant highly recommended.

Even though the location and the ambience were very nice, CHF 7.50 for a normal cappuccino is simply totally overpriced. The most expensive coffee on the mountain and also the most expensive coffee we have ever drunk anywhere in the world. Also for the small brioche an incredible CHF 5.--. The limit is reached somewhere.

Beautiful mountain restaurant with great attention to detail, fantastic food and really good staff. Great value for money. My bacon was plentiful and perfectly cooked, and the vegetables were just right al dente. You don't expect it at this height in a double sense.

We were able to enjoy a wonderful evening today. Everything was perfect, great service, great food, especially the meat. Price performance is absolutely right. It's grilled over an open fire and you get more than enough help, which I really liked. There is absolutely no stinginess and the lovely ladies from the service were in a very good mood and you could feel that there was a great atmosphere in the team. The hosts greet and say goodbye personally. I really like small details that show that you are valued as a guest :) I can really only recommend it as a must for meat lovers. Since I am a butcher myself and am very critical when it comes to meat, I really have to say that it was first class.

It's unbelievable how good service can be. Yes, everything is a little more expensive here, but the service and quality are good. Reserve here! When I compare what you can get in ski huts in Austria - there is no comparison with here! Great

We hiked up to the restaurant last Sunday and it was 100% worth it. The food was a dream and the staff were very friendly, helpful and relaxed. We'll definitely be back!

…. How does Christian and his team do it? No train, no transfer to Startgels…. Then you arrive at the top broken and are in another world…. Pure relaxation, super friendly employees and a TOP boss who has the situation with the construction site fully under control and thinks very positively. The food was incredible for a mountain restaurant, great wines ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Flims is worth a trip just because of the starting money. Thank you very much Christian and we will be back!

We (2x MTB + 1 hiker), We took the difficult route and were really looking forward to stopping at your place - as experienced MINERS, we of course checked the opening times (until 5 p.m.) - we were shocked to find out at 3:45 p.m. that the gates were closed. Brazenly, the “open until 5 p.m.” sign was still right in front of the entrance. Where will we get if everyone does what they want? You have lost us long-time regular guests forever.

Hospitality in a class of its own!!! We were able to spend an unforgettable evening at Startgels. We arrived at Startgels late after a long and underestimated hike with 3 children. We were pampered to the highest degree; with drinks, protection from the sudden rain, and a plaster for our little daughter who had scraped her knee - all even though the restaurant was actually already closed. We were then allowed to take part in a course menu and were looked after personally by Christian Kaiser; The food was world class, from the 'simple' sausage and cheese salad to the beef fillet from the open fire, and probably the best asparagus risotto we have ever had in a restaurant. The wine was also excellent. To round things off, we were given a ride down to the valley. Many thanks to the whole Startgels team, the evening will remain in our special memories!

We come every year and enjoy the quiet, relaxing atmosphere, the friendly, courteous hospitality and the tasty food. Highly recommended.

Excellent cuisine (try the asparagus, rhubarb and strawberry salad) and friendly staff. We will definitely be back.

Crowded, but we still got a seat

We have enjoyed coming here for many years. The polenta from the wood oven, but also all the other dishes, are a dream. Even the bread tastes really delicious and is homemade. You can reserve inside, but you may have to wait a bit outside. The staff was always polite and nice, which is not easy when there is a high volume of guests on the weekends.

During the day there is warming, hearty mountain food here (Spätzlipfanne, polenta from the fire and pieces of meat - also grilled over the fire), perfect for a day on the slopes. The mountain restaurant is also worth a visit in the evening! With or without an overnight stay, guests can expect a fine menu and a wine cellar well stocked with treasures.

Negative: The portions are a bit small and the prices are relatively high. Waiting time for the order 25min, waiting time for the food 50min!!! That is not how it works. There is still significant potential for optimization here! 😠😠 Positive: Nice restaurant with a terrace and a wonderful view. The food was ok, the service was friendly. Conclusion: Instead of skiing, we spent the day waiting for food. Not again!

A very unusual mountain restaurant. Christian Kaiser and his dedicated team offer regional enjoyment with a wonderful view. It is therefore best to plan a little more time for a stop on the slopes.

Restaurant is just off the piste, above the Startgels lift. Great food, reasonable prices and great service. Seems like a nice locale for a quick post ski beer too.

Good quality food. Unfortunately the portions are far too small. For a restaurant on a ski slope, you can expect more for a large portion of Älplermacarone.

Venison, bratwurst, polenta, salad and dessert: everything was great! We will be back definitely.

I was there last night. Absolutely awesome... starting with the staff, really top, friendly and accommodating. The food was great...really excellent.

Another great experience, hats off and respect to the whole Startgels team. Beautifully decorated, even the conditions in the toilets have improved positively... You no longer have to leave the quiet place with wet hands, great 😉😅! ! As always, all hell broke loose... and waiting 15 minutes on the terrace was worth it again. I haven't eaten so well with my friends in a long time!!!!!! It doesn't surprise me anymore that people like to eat here so much. Will 100% come back. Nice place. Food is as often in Switzerland; enough, bit pricy, but little feeling for detail. Service is nice. Personeel pretty busy to give you sufficient attention.

The finest food in the entire ski area

Very clean and well-kept, friendly staff who appear friendly, know the area and can also answer questions about the hiking area.

Amazingly good and worth the price! Very well-kept terrace and extremely friendly and motivated staff. We ate wonderfully at this altitude.

Super nice restaurant, very good food and large portions. This is how it has to be for hikers/mountain bikers. At the moment you can also see the construction site for the new Y-Bahn. We will be back.

Super fine menu and great wine selection. Service is very friendly.

Probably my favourite restaurant in the Alps. In sunshine, the terrace is full of light with great views. When it’s snowing, it’s cosy with the huge fire inside. On that fire, Ueli cooks meats and vegetables to perfection. The wine list is a dangerous (both for skiing and your wallet) temptation, full of interesting wines from Switzerland and the rest of the world.

The food is wonderful, but the treatment is unfriendly and even hurtful: “Can you forget” in response to the question of whether there is space. We were able to eat here last time, but even then the treatment was borderline poor.

We always enjoy coming here to eat here every year. Super delicious polenta that is freshly prepared over the fire! The grilled meat is to die for. Very good selection of red wines. The service is very friendly and accommodating. Prices tend to be in the upper segment. I can only recommend the restaurant.

Really really good! Great full service restaurant with Bramata (polenta) as a specialty. The terrace is also very cozy. We'll be back tomorrow!

Nicest tent on the mountain. Best price/quality ratio. Beautiful food. They are known for their polenta. If you want to sit inside for lunch, you must reserve in time (high season days in advance).

I took a break here while skiing and had the opportunity to eat the most expensive little piece of plum cake of my life. 11 francs... I didn't particularly like the atmosphere with a view of the cable car either. I think I'll give the restaurant another chance at some point and try the polenta. For coffee and cake, I recommend waiting 10 minutes and driving down to the valley.

Service was very good but the wait was too long

Simply an enrichment for culinary lovers. Ate great polenta with bratwurst to try something simple. The menu promises a lot and everything tastes great. At 1 p.m. we found a nice place for two people on the terrace. Great and hardworking service. The team plays well together. We would be happy to be guests here again. Bravo!

As always, the food is great and the service is fine. Only the service staff is absolutely wrong. Guests are gossiped about and snarky answers are probably part of the meal. We were even allowed to listen to accusations. We'll be back next year with new staff, otherwise we'll plan our ski vacation without daily lunch at Stargels.

Fine dine on the mountain. There are culinary delicacies here. From light to hearty. Higher price range, but also corresponding quality.

Very special mountain restaurant. They will pick you up in Flims with the snow groomer and drive you to the hut. The cottage is very charming and cozy. The service is great. Everyone was extremely friendly and very competent. But the food... It's amazing. There were 5 courses and everyone was incredible.

While the food, view, ambiance and price is good, the owner is extremely customer unfriendly. Due to long queues at the lifts, we arrived later for our reserved slot, although we still would have had enough time to finish, only to find our table was already given away. Note: i tried to call 3 times to advise we‘d be a bit later, but the phone was not answered. When I made the reservation, I wasn’t warned. The owner made no effort whatsoever to find a solution or apologise. Started blaming me and shouting at me. Is not the first time I experienced him as extremely rude. Note: the rest of the waiters are usually very pleasant.Ja

They have the 2G rule, wich is fine, but they are not even selling water to take away if you don't have 2G. Don't waste your time...

Polenta is cooked on an open fire.

It's unbelievable that an "innkeeper" discriminates against people and excludes them from hospitality. 2 G also on the terrace. Ueli, you have lost a long-standing guest forever. Anyone who no longer wants to entertain such healthy people should no longer call themselves an innkeeper.

Unfortunately a total failure. After being served for ages, we received the wrong wine twice. We received the second wine while my partner's meal (very fine) was already served. My food never arrived within 2 hours. “Generously” my meal was then taken off the bill, but neither coffee nor anything else was offered. We wanted to speak to the boss, but were just put off. A pity...

Nice restaurant with a great terrace, good service. But Fr. 7.00 for a cappuccino and Fr. 9.00 for a small piece of apricot cake? Sorry, that's massively exaggerated.

Rarely have I seen such arrogant staff at a mountain hut. First no one comes for ages and then while ordering they just run away without comment twice. Meat wasn't worth the money and beer was warm. Never again 👎🏻

Very nice view, friendly service, clean toilets, changing table also accessible to fathers 👍🏼 Below the terrace there is a sunbathing lawn with loungers, table and parasols. We particularly liked it because the small children could run around in peace without disturbing other guests.

A legendary place with the highest quality: the fire never goes out! The menu was exquisite, the meat was cooked perfectly as always and the wine selection was second to none:-))
