Take It Doner in Zermatt

If you have no idea about good food, come here! A disgrace for Zermatt cuisine! The meat must be freshly cut from the spit!!! No kebab meat should come from a warming container. Salad looks strange, employee super unfriendly. The sauces from the 3 squeeze bottles taste artificial. Sticky bread. We won't be coming back!

I had a Durum. Its price wasn’t too bad for its portion. I think it was good enough for lunch. The flavour was nice, and it had a bit of everything I wanted, even tho I wish it had a bit more of spicy sauce. The restaurant is quite small, and I wouldn’t say it’s good for a large group - maybe for only 4-5 people. The only thing made me feel a bit icky was a guy who was preparing my food didn’t wear gloves. He had a few (healed?) visible cuts on his hands. I feel it’s important to practice good hygiene, preventing any possible outcomes, and this restaurant didn't really meet the safe food handling practices.

First the server was real rude and the food was mediocre….. very disappointed

The Dürüm was ok, the price is comparatively too high. Zermatt prices. I think the gentleman at the counter could be more polite

I went here twice during my stay in Zermatt. The donor box with fries is very tasty and filling. Also excellent value. Very limited seating, but I got lucky on my last visit and sat at the counter looking out on the street.

The Doner was a little dry, the ingredients ok

It's incredible to me that place got 4.4 stars at the time of this review. We went here yesterday and it was just plain awful. Normally I don't have too many expectations from doner, as it's just fast food. But this was just sad in all regards. The doner looked like a sad piece of hot dog that was being warmed, but absolutely not grilled. So we went for the safer option of falafel. You pay 14CHF for a wrap. He gives you 4 small pieces of frozen falafel deep fried to the point you only taste the oil. Then he tops it off with like 400 grams of salad and a sprinkle of carrot and onion. It was an abomination to eat and especially given the price absolutely not worth it.

Literally the most embarrassing foodstore that has called themselves "döner kebab shop" I have been to in the world. I have been to German ones, ones in the UK, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Turkey, Greece... knowing the good ones, the authentic oned and the standard ones and the bad. I have seen them all. But this one takes the crown of most pathetic kebab shop, being worst in food and pricing. The döner kebab stick was fried, heated with 60C°<, so basically raw. We ordered a fallafel dürum because the kebab looked straight out of the trash bin. We got the 99 penny supermarket fallafel with a one-dimensional filling, tasting like sunflower oil it was fried in. We payed almost 15 Franc, which is mote than 15€ for one dürum. It was 80% lettuce, 10% onion, 3% falafal and the cheap no-name brand garlic sauce. Literally i payed for dough with lettuce. It was cold and just plain and simple nasty. A disgrace for the little village and a bigger disgrace for the name of döner kebab.

It was wonderful to find tasty halal food options in Zermatt. Burgers, fries and kebab were amazing and we enjoyed the freshly made, hot food in snowy winter. Service was efficient and we did not have to wait for long. Staff were friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable keeping in mind it’s a tourist place and usually prices are high in there. It’s a small take-away shop with only a few seats insides and some tables outside. I preferred to sit outside and enjoy the snow. I would definitely recommend this place and would go back if I was back in Zermatt.

Halal takeaway or fast food joint. Burger is delicious and my daughter love the nugget box. Everything is expensive in Zermatt but this is a good place for a quick and less ‘expensive’ lunch.

Unfortunately a not so good Dürum. Very dry meat and you can tell that the quality of the skewer is not good. Unfortunately one of the worse kebabs I've eaten. The only positive thing is the portion is too expensive for 14.50 Fr.

Very good Doener. Unfortunately they were out of the smaller Coke Zero. Prices have a 25% "Zermatt" Premium as everywhere here

Take away both kebab and burger as dinner, not bad!

Touring around Zermatt made us hungry and we were delighted to have some Doner kebab. Sitting on the patio enjoying our lunch accompanied by a 😺😜. The doner kebab was really good and big portion.

Found a halal restaurant in Zermatt Matterhorn viewpoint. Had yummy doner kebab and burger. Fries also fresh-cooked. Orange drink product from turkiye is so refreshing.

Best doner kabab I ever had. Very good, juicy meat. French fries tastes good too. They also have a large beverage selection.

Very average kebabs, the meat wasn't fresh at all, but they do serve large portions.

We came here to eat because this was the only place where you could eat without breaking the bank. In the end, it turned out great because the portions are plentiful and good.

The first kebabs - one meat, the other falafel - now in May 2023 really good. A large portion size and a roll properly tightly rolled. Second experience 2023 bad. Small portion and lazy to eat. I gave feedback on the spot. But the experiences from the place again in 2022 are good. The level of the place seems to depend on who is working. Cons of this variation.

I'm only reviewing the kebab doner (in a kebab roll) that was served to me: The quality of the meat (veal/beef) deserves one star. The meat looks good, but not ideal (too pale), is cut pleasantly thin and tastes good (to me), but unfortunately the meat is not hot or warm enough. In my opinion, there are 2 reasons for this: the meat skewer is not turned hot enough (temperature too low) or the meat loses too much heat on the way from the skewer to the kebab roll because it is temporarily stored in a metal container (!!! ). At the time the kebab was served to me there wasn't much of a crowd... In addition to ready-made sauces, you could choose between green lettuce leaves, carrots, tomatoes and onions as side dishes... The roll in which the meat and selected ingredients was served to me was not grilled until crispy, it was luke warm and dry, limp. Unfortunately the roll was not part of a flatbread. I haven't tried any other dishes and will limit my judgment to the doner kebab, which I ate there at the end of May 2023. At that time the kebab cost 13.50 francs. Of course, this assessment only reflects my personal taste. The staff seemed nice and the shop seemed very clean, but as I said at the beginning, I only want to rate my kebab and nothing else.

Did not expect to come upon such a great döner kebab place in Zermatt, but here we are. I ordered the combo (döner menu) and was not disappointed. They packed it full of meat, sauces were delicious, and the vegetables added great texture. My wife and I ended up splitting it.

Stopped for lunch on our way back from Trockener Steg. Great meal deals, we had burger and falafel kebab with fries. Excellent feed and quick service.

Awesome kebab, one of the best I’ve had ever, and I’ve had kebabs in London, Istanbul as well as many other places. The meat is not greasy which is pretty rare, I don’t know how they do it but the mix of sauces, vegetables and bread is just right! I always stop by this place when in Zermatt, thanks guys!

All the reviews here are FAKE!!! it was the worst Döner and worst fries I ever had. If I could I would give zero Stars! I complained about the food and I kindly asked for a refund the two employee’s where really rude and they didn’t give me the refund. So I walked out hungry and angry.

Terrible food! - MEAT WAS OLD: meat was old and cold (parts of it were dry, and white), and was of low quality to begin with. - FRIES WERE OLD: Fries were old and cold as well. There is nothing worse than old fries. Serving old fries is showing you how lazy and cheap the personnel is, because it takes 1min to fry them. - POOR HYGIENE: the guy literally touched the food with his bare hands. 🤮. To make things worse he got with his head super close to the food bowl containing salads and the meat for no obvious reason. - ZERO SERVICE: they were cracking jokes and danced around while we were eating. After 2 bites we returned the food. Sorry but I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. AND WHILE I AM WRITING THIS REVIEW MY STOMACH IS 🤮🤮🤮

The beef burrito is very delicious and layered. With such a price, it is definitely a good value for money in Zermatt. I recommend everyone to eat his beef burrito.

As you leave Zermaat station turn right about 5 minutes till you reach the Take it Doner. This is the best halal kebab and burger. A must before you go up the Zermaat-Gronergrat train to the the peak of Matterhon.

The food here was good and very reasonable prices. My wife and I are meat eaters, so we had the doner and the burger. I felt like the quality of the burger meat wasn’t quite high enough for me to want to be a repeat customer

First of all it’s halal and price is reasonable for a great fresh hot food. Perfect for the cold weather. We came close to 6 in the evening and was quite crowded. The indoor sitting is small and can accommodate for 4 pax. There’s outdoor seating too. To get to the eatery it’s 7-10 min walking distance. About 200-250m from the train station. Burger is Recommend.

We had dinner here one evening during our stay in Zermatt, we ordered a falafel menu (falafel wrap+chips with sauces+drink) and a döner kebab menu (kebab sandwich+chips with sauces+drink), excellent ingredients and generous portions. We came back another time to order takeaway, again everything was excellent, the doner box was delicious. Kind and smiling guys, they also speak Italian 😊 excellent quality/price ratio for Zermatt!!
