Takrai in Luzern

On the recommendation of a Swiss person during our trip to Thailand (yes, interesting combination), I had to try the shop once. As a passionate Asian eater and spiciness lover, it was a personal concern to test what was supposedly the best Thai restaurant. And I was not disappointed. Both Pad Thai and the version with rice were very tasty! Juicy, spicy, fresh and with optional hot seasoning simply authentic and perfect. I have never eaten such good PadThai anywhere, not even with a family in a small Thai village. It's the ingredients that make it. The shop is quite small, but fortunately it doesn't smell bad. The price is normal for Swiss standards, but rather expensive for students at 20.-. Conclusion: Culinary 10/10, portion size 10/10, price 9/10, ambience 8/10 Any time.

Decided when we walked by to grab some thai takeout to enjoy by the lake on a really lovely evening. Menu seems straightforward and similar to other thai places - we got the spring rolls, pad thai and vegetable noodles. Spring rolls were fine, but they were fried (I was hoping for the fresh ones); Pad Thai had a unique flavor to it vs. other places that I did not care for and could have used bean sprouts; Vegetable Noodles were relatively simple and tasted like chicken broth but otherwise did not have a sauce and could have had more vegetables. The food did the trick, service was friendly, but the food quality wasn't the best that we've had (especially at nearly 20CHF for each main dish).

We ordered take away and they forgot to give us the rice. The spring rolls were soggy. (Like warmed up, not fresh and not crispy either.) We were very disappointed. But the staff was friendly.

Ordered takeaway. Great service, fair prices, tasty dishes. Personally prefer the fried noodles with vegetables (in picture) compared to to the pad thai (I tried this the next day). Also the dish of fried chicken with vegetables with some chilli (not pictured) was quite a bit oilier because of the chilli oil.

I've been going there since I've lived in Lucerne, whether to eat in or take away. My father and I's absolute favorite restaurant. The boss and my father always have super friendly conversations. The best meal absolutely. Super friendly staff especially the boss and his relatives. The prices are also quite good. All other restaurants of this quality are very expensive but Takrai is still affordable for a student. The food is high quality. Mostly pretty full. We also had great measures during Corona times.

Takrai is really a great Thai restaurant. The quality has always been super good and fresh for years. It has a reasonable selection of different dishes and even delicious soups. The food is always prepared very quickly and you never have to wait long. The price-performance ratio is also absolutely brilliant. For me the best Thai restaurant in all of Lucerne!

We also received the wrong order after being told that we had to pay by card and couldn't pay in cash. For us this was the last visit and we prefer to go to other Thai restaurants.
