Price/performance isn't quite right, a bit too expensive.

Great food, the risotto was amazing!

Friendly service, food very good, nice location, prices for the dishes (especially side dishes) rather too high.

Were there on a trip from university. It is within walking distance of the Hönggerberg campus. The cheese fondue was plentiful and very tasty. Wine was always complimentary and the waiters were very attentive.

Nice place, service very friendly and the rest is the same as when I was young, except that the bathroom is missing :-)

Been twice recently, but won't be back anytime soon. The food we liked, the prices are outrageous - 10 CHF a bottle of water (i suspect, tap water) kinda outrageous. The waiters were nice, but the senior staff (owner) rude.

This is a real insider tip! Right at the beginning we were greeted so warmly and taken to our place, right next to the oven. We were thrilled by the atmosphere, so cozy! We ordered two fondues - one traditional and one with goat cheese. Ugh WOW! Incredibly delicious! And the bread to go with it, a really good dark farmhouse bread. Yummy! The wine selection is also very diverse. We were served with such incredible kindness throughout the entire evening, something you rarely experience. All in one - a must when in Zurich for cheese fondue! We will come back in any case :)

Great, quick service and friendly staff

Ever since I moved to wipkingen I’ve wanted to have a romantic dinner or lunch here. The experience did not disappoint. We had a lovely lunch together and they even welcomed our dog. We had the Pilz Risotto and gnocchi with Gorgonzola. Beautiful, rustic and warm atmosphere to top it all off!

Traditional food from Ticino. The lamb was really good, brasato very salty. The place is very cosy and romantic.

We received the small menu at 2 p.m. I got the pork bratwurst for 22 CHF, what a ridiculous price! I couldn't take them alone, so I got 6 Niocci, dry, all without sauce, I ordered some gravy - on the bill it was 32.- CHF 1 additional person took 1 x small portion of polenta with gorgonzola. 1 x 5 dl Merlot for 45.- CHF 2 x espresso 11.-CHF 1 x 5 dl tap water All together FULL 120.-CHF for the SMALL DISHES!! INSANE PRICE & over the top. THANK YOU AGAIN

Great friendly staff, great atmosphere and delicious food!

Ticino cuisine above the roofs of Zurich. If you like polenta and otherwise like Ticino cuisine, this is a great place for you. Very rustic atmosphere, which is great. And after eating, you can run off the calories in the forest or let your kids work off the excess sugar in the playground behind the restaurant.

We visit the Ticino Grotto often and are always very satisfied without exception. Above all, the service staff is always very attentive and very friendly. The food is super fine and worth the money. Even if you just go for a drink during your walk, you will feel welcome here. The Ticino Grotto is one of our favorite restaurants!

Excellent location close to Zurich and it feels like holiday clothes Zurich. It feels like being in Ticino or Italy. The osso bucco was fantastic prizes, rather a bit on the higher end, but the quality is versus. Definitely a huge huge plus also for the service . We will be back for sure !

The atmosphere is quite friendly. Shady and quiet. I don't like the pond. If you want, take a little walk in the forest. The selection does not contain a summer menu. In the rather upper price segment for the food on offer.

Reservation is easy, plenty of parking spaces in front of the house or nearby, nice terrace, nice staff, very tasty food (e.g. Maggia bread crostino is highly recommended). Unfortunately the noise level is quite high when the restaurant is full.

Cute restaurant tucked right against the forest with traditional Swiss decor and a cozy ambiance. The wooden chairs could certainly be more comfortable, though, but I'll let that complaint slide because the waiter was so friendly and cheerful. Classic Swiss food from Ticino, which means mostly pasta, fondue or meat dishes.

Always nice and pleasant to sit on the terrace. Very good cuisine in the evening. There is also enough parking space and there is also a tennis court.

Beautiful garden restaurant on the Waidberg. Recommendation: Pollo al forno 'puzzolente rosa', a Mistkratzerli, the small, lighter form of the poultry, is perfectly prepared in the oven and served with a freshly made garlic and herb sauce. Service very attentive and nice.

Unfortunately, even after Corona there are NO more sandwiches. The popular Affetato is also only available in a portion for 2 people. A pity. The rest is great 👍🏻.

We are there spontaneously and for the first time. The atmosphere is very cozy and quiet. The staff is young, very attentive and properly positioned. You can tell that they enjoy their work. The food was excellent, I had the mushroom risotto. What I was particularly happy about was that we had time to pet a dog and fool around a little with a little girl. Definitely another reason for me to visit.

The two of us had dinner. Simply great, we were served by a very nice lady. And the cuisine was excellent. We will definitely go there again. A small note, just that the restaurant was quite warm when we were there :) However, it was also last year.

Another insider tip! The restaurant that is hidden in the middle of the forest with a large and beautiful summer terrace. When the weather is sunny, the terrace is also open in winter and offers culinary delights. The food is excellent, tastes great, looks good and the service is personable and friendly. Child-friendly restaurant for relaxing hours. Also good as a stopover during a hike. Delicious desserts, coffee and ice cream are offered.

Cozy restaurant with a nice selection of dishes. Prices could be a bit cheaper and handing out a drink menu would be helpful. Otherwise we had a delicious lunch and felt very comfortable.

The crostini were crispy and well seasoned, the mousse was very airy, slightly lemony and pleasantly light. For the main course we had the brasato with porcini mushroom risotto (excellent meat quality and perfect risotto with lots of porcini mushroom flavor), the gnocchi calabria and gnocchi with tomato sauce (gnocchi fried just right and a good mix of firmness and creaminess) and the pasta of the day: ravioli with pecorino, figs and walnuts . The ravioli were filled with pecorino and mascarpone and tossed in melted butter. They were excellent, just a little too powerful. We also drank the smooth Merlot Riserva from Agriloro and the Franciacorta as an aperitif. Both excellent, as are the Torta della Nonna and the Nocino. Thank you for the wonderful evening

Easily one of my favourite restaurants in Zürich. The staff as so friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. It's like eating at your grandma's house, if she was an extraordinary cook. They have a list of really unusual and delicious fondues too, that I haven't seen before.

Our experience: eat well. Small portions (including dessert), high prices. Service was very nice, waiting times were long in our case.

Thank you again for the nice evening. When they found out that it was still my birthday, they quickly put a candle on the brownie. The food was excellent! Unfortunately I only discovered the restaurant now and now I no longer live in Zurich...

A trip to Ticino in the middle of the city of Zurich. We were spoiled from A to Z by the Ticino Grotto. A real insider tip! I can highly recommend the Tartare die manzo and the Gnocchi con gorgonzola! The 5* comes from the heart! Thanks see you next time!

Great location, very friendly service and reasonable prices.

We had drinks and food a few times in the summer, the ambience is excellent due to the great location. The service can be great, and sometimes a bit cold, depending on the person. The food was mostly very good, only the polenta wasn't our favorite.

Teasing Grotto is one of our favorite restaurants in Zurich. A complete hidden gem. The Italian Swiss dishes are super tasty and the portions are big so you really get your money’s worth. Also very kid friendly. The interiors are sure Swiss-cozy and the patio is lovely in the summer (in the winter they have blankets so you can enjoy it even if it’s chilly). Highly highly recommend.

Food was good and friendly service. The prices are too high even for Zurich. Ordered mousse au chocolat and it was made with coffee, it is always done that way without mentioning it on the menu.

Served by a kind and smiling waitress who made the effort to communicate with us in French. We ate very well.

What a hidden little gem!! We had some aperitif with a meat plate and a glass of red wine. Service was impeccable, and the wine was outstanding! Plus the green canopy with the lighting is just gorgeous!

We were at the Ticino Grotto last Sunday evening at 5:30 p.m. and wanted to sit at one of the free tables on the terrace. The completely unnerved and probably overwhelmed waiter said that he already had space, but he already had 20 tickets for the kitchen. ???? He hastily left for a moment and then told us that we could come back at 7:30 p.m. That would be 2 hours later. We weren't stressed at all, we wanted to have an aperitif beforehand (it was only 5:30 p.m.) and he just sent us away. Surely that can’t be in the spirit of hospitality? So we went to one of the many nice restaurants in Zurich and spent our CHF 200 there.

An almost perfect evening. Nice ambience under the trees, good food, very friendly service! Went there for the first time with my parents and ordered the apparently well-known hamburger. My husband had the large portion on two levels. Which has a proud price at 43.-. Since it was a bit bland for him, he asked for some pepperocini sauce. Which, to our astonishment, was charged at the end🙄 after we asked why... we were told: the sauce was only made for the tartare, where you can choose the level of spiciness. What a joke. The tartare is cheaper at 36.- (large portion). Found that absolutely inappropriate... a shame

Fantastic dishes representing the best of Ticino. Try the risotto, roasted chicken and any of the local dishes. Waiter was extremely helpful recommending wines and particular foods.

There were eight of us in the Ticino Grotto. We had a wonderful evening in a fantastically idyllic atmosphere and with wonderfully delicious food and drinks (the wine was super delicious!!!!!) Had the “Del Grotto Ticinese” burger and the osso buco. We can only recommend both. No side dish is necessary for the burger as the foccacia is filling enough.

An impressively beautiful ambience in the Ticino Grotto. Highly recommended, especially because of the extremely friendly staff. Nobody thinks that there is such a wonderful restaurant up here in the middle of the forests. There are enough parking spaces and in summer: a huge terrace that invites you to linger with a glass of wine.
