Enough to eat very properly and quench your thirst in a very friendly setting

The food is good and the atmosphere nice but the waiter tried to rip us off because he made a mistake in his orders. We didn't get the burger we wanted and he wanted to charge us for the burgers we had originally requested which were more expensive...

This used to be my go to pub when studying in Zurich, decades ago. The beer has improved, according to the decades. And their Ethiopian food is the ultimate...

The food is ok, but the portions are very modest and under no circumstances is a very dry burger with a few irregularly fried fries worth 30 francs. A glass of beer for 9 francs is incomprehensible. Did I perhaps miss a cheaper beer? Sitting in front of empty plates and glasses for far too long after eating, having to look for staff to pay, no clearing up. Food, drinks and service overall are ok for a simple pub but never worth the price, but I expect better quality, decent portions and attentive service. Direct feedback is hardly possible because the staff was very uninterested and even chatted with colleagues while paying.

A real pub with a large selection of excellent beers and snacks. Interesting presentation of food and drinks. Atmospheric, cozy, excellent service. 7-8 minutes walk from Zurich Central Station

We play boardgames there every Thursday and honestly the service is amazing! The waitresses are always super polite and they go above and beyond to keep the service quick. The tables are amazing to play games on and the "pub-food" is what anyone would need with their drink (and/or their game). 100% recommend! ☺️

Unfortunately, our brunch experience at the restaurant was disappointing. The main course was lukewarm and we had to wait an unreasonably long time for dessert while a table next to us was already being served. Despite asking several times, it took over an hour before we were told it would be another 15 minutes. We finally left the restaurant without the waffles we ordered. An overall disappointing experience that calls into question the quality of service.

The food was okay, the ramen was nothing special but the service was above and beyond and the mead was great. The staff is super friendly and speaks English well.

A bit expensive for a beer bar but ok if you go in a group. Paid 42.- for 2 beers and some finger food

Nice place to enjoy fresh beer. You can also buy some of them. The choices are great. There are multiple board games available. The size of the table allows you to set up the game and get food and drinks without a problem. The terrace is a nice place if the weather is good. We had the ramen, but it wasn't our favorite.

Alehouse before, during and after covid, it keeps the highest standards!

The Food is okay, I recommend the Ethiopian dishes.

In general great as usual, except one thing. The bar has a policy of no own food while food serving stops at 21:45. We were kicked out when we came at 22:00, learned that there is no food serving and brought a pizza with us. We'd recommend to make the no own food policy in action only during food serving hours. Otherwise it makes the bar attending after 22:00 very uncomfortable.

Good bar and cool atmosphere. We are here regularly. But what's really annoying is that you're not allowed to bring your own food if the kitchen is closed at the same time. There is a pizzeria next door and you have to eat the pizza outside. So: either allow food brought in after the kitchen closes (which is common practice in many pubs without a kitchen anyway) or adapt the kitchen times/menu to the opening times so that you can at least get snacks or chips after 9:30 p.m. Thanks & Cheers! 🍺🍺🍺 PS: yes 9:30 p.m. because the clock in the bar is running fast ;-)

They do not allow to bring own food after kitchen is closed. It is normal practice to allow that in all good bars

I had the angus cheesburger with sweet potato fries. The burger was alright. But seemed like it was prepared too early and already getting cold. The sweet potato fries where very lumpy and seemed only half way fried. The beer was nice (I had the lager) and the selection was interesting. But 9.- or more for 330ml of beer is quite steep in my opinion. Given that almost all beers where in that range it seems too expensive for what it offers overall.

We went on a Wednesday a group of 10. The atmosphere is great for groups with long tables and wide rooms. The team is kind and witty. They were professionals and good timings. I had the cheeseburger with coleslaw salad, which was not bad.

Excellent pub with a really nice selection of beers on tap. They usually have my favourite Wiehanstephaner Weissbier from Bavaria. The staff are very polite, courteous, and prompt. One of my favourites in Zurich, with reality good food. I love the nachos here. Ice heard very nice reviews of the Ramen from my friends. 5 stars.

I've been coming to the Alehouse for years and the food is consistently great and the beer selection always catering to everyones taste. Now they also serve brunch on sat/sun, and it's awesome! We had a nice sample of various dishes, all great, the standout really was the chicken and waffle, especially the waffle was very tasty and not dry at all, soft and full of flavour.

The only trouble is deciding if it’s better to come in the evening for a beer and amazing Ethiopian, ramen, and pub food, or on a Sunday morning for delicious chicken and waffles or eggs Benedict. Both?

Great food and the drink selection is also excellent! The prices for the food are intimidating at first, but the portions you get are more than worth the money. The food was very tasty and was served quickly. All soft drinks were served with a glass and large ice cubes, which provided a very pleasant way to cool down, especially given the temperatures (around 30°C). In addition, the service was quick, friendly and very pleasant. I will definitely go there again to eat and have a good time with friends.

Great beer selection and friendly service from Julian. Eating very large portions, taste ok but not a huge surprise. It's worth drinking beer there. The food is irrelevant. Location clean and well thought out, staff is super friendly! Worth a visit and a must for craft beer fans!

Spacious setting to hang out with a bigger group…and tasty food :)

Nat was our server and he was fantastic. Great energy and enthusiasm. Overall the place was laid back and had an inviting atmosphere. The food was okay, and the lack of selection of draught beer is why I give 3 stars. Only 7 of the taps were in use and therefore lacking in variety. We picked this place specifically as we were tired of lager or lager at most restaurants. With a little more love for craft beer, this place would be 5/5.

It's craft beer so don't expect a cheap night. But always a good selection. Second best craft beer place in Zurich IMO, food a little expensive. But prettu tasty

Good selection of beers and very friendly staff. The BLACK ANGUS RAMEN needs some work though. It was very bland and not spicy at all. Not to mention amount of meat was ... minimalistic to say the least :) Burgers on the other hand are pretty decent.

Arguably one of the best beer pubs in Zurich. Mostly 12-13 taps filled with 3 fridges from recently merged Beers'n'More. Taps include good mix of good ol' German Lager, good local craft beers and selection from other countries. Fridges have great selection from Swiss regions and European bottles. Draft selection is kinda pricey, around 9 upwards to 12 francs for 33cl. While bottle and can costs from 12 upwards to 20 for really amazing beers. Pricey but considering Swiss prices, not too bad. Kitchen opens from 18:00.

Great staff, great location, a bit pricy. I participated there with a group so we had a good time. Fried Sweet potatoes are very tasty. 😉

Food is okay. Maybe a little blunt. Selection of beers is ok. The atmosphere is great and the staff is very attentive; it can get crowded though. Nothing to complain.

Actually a good restaurant with a large selection of beers and good food. Unfortunately there are additional costs (cork fee) for every beer taken out of the fridge. This was neither communicated to us nor was it apparent anywhere.

The food was good and the beer selection was impressive. However, a cork fee of 5.00 was charged for each beer from the fridge in addition to the retail price! The three of us had 15 beers = 75.- extra! That's a disgrace! As a good host you have to at least point this out.

Super friendly staff, barebones yet comfortable place, tables are far enough apart that it doesn’t feel crowded even when it’s full. Minus one point for the Nachos dish, which absolutely did not come with salsa, more like spaghetti tomato sauce, way too sweet and made the whole dish meh at best. My friend seemed to enjoy his fish burger and sweet potato fries though.

Best burger I've had in the city. They have an incredible set of craft beer options and board games. Definitely recommend the place for an evening with friends :)

Best place to eat pulled pork burger! Loads of differents beers ( my wife hates beer but tasted anyway and that shows that they have a great options) superfriendly staff and cozy place! Love it!

Nice pub. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a pub in the outback. The store definitely knows something about beer... a large selection and delicious smaller meals. There were a lot of international people when I was there, and the waitress spoke English, among other things. It was interesting, definitely worth checking out after work. Gladly again✌️

Great staff. Pork Ramen noodles were fabulous. Nice noodles in perfectly seasoned chicken broth with fresh veggies and pork. Delicious and quick. Not a huge amount of seats available at lunch. Go early. Good selections of non-traditional choices of beer and Ales. Good porter and stout in bottles. Yum!

A very convenient spot for a few beers. The place has a young vibe to it. They have board games for large groups. Lots of options for craft beers on tap. The waitress was very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely visit again.

Closest thing to feeling like an actual pub I've found in Zurich, without being some contrived Irish bar. Nice food and a great selection of craft beers. The staff are super friendly and enthusiastic. A great place to hunker down for the evening.

Nice atmosphere costly beers, across the uni? Ok we r in Zurich but these are Monaco prices. You need to chill, so does your beers.

There's never a bad evening at the Alehouse. Be sure to check the tap listings online shortly before your visit. The taps (other than #1) change constantly, and you don't want to be a deer in headlights when it's your turn to order!

Top beer selection, good advice from the staff. The service also remains relaxed if you want to share a beer because you want to slow down a bit after the imperial stout.

My pub of choice. Amazing food and wide choice of craft beers. Never too loud or too crowded. Kept the quality for years and it's still the best place in Zurich for beer geeks.

Being a craft beer nerd, I thought I'd try The Alehouse. It did not did not disappoint! I would highly recommend!! Staff, ambience, food were all great and beers were on point! Just go!

Good beers, although the option to try several beers, called Flight, is outrageously expensive at 15 for 4 dl of beer. Eat? At least the vegan salad is forgettable. Fresh yes, but an incredibly bland sauce on it, my mouth went to sleep hours before I went to sleep... All in all, lukewarm average.

Nice place for the evening. The menu mainly features salads, burgers and ramen. I really liked my ramen. The salad with sheep's cheese also looked quite good. For dessert, I really enjoyed the cheesecake! The large selection of fresh beers and bottles is a nice touch, although I find most of them a bit expensive. There are also board games at the entrance for a cozy evening. The service was nice, friendly and gave me good advice. I think the prices of the burgers are a bit too high.

Incredibly large variety of beer with some nice offers from time to time. Staff is friendly and quick. The prices are decent for the area. I can recommend the sweet potato fries very much!

Relatively long waiting time until we were served. There wasn't much going on for a Saturday evening. The beer selection was ok, we would have expected a little more. The ramen and the chicken burger were very good.

Great, relaxed pub-vibe. We sat outside on the terrace. Service was great. Nat was super friendly and helped us with beer recommendations. The burgers (fried chicken and cheese burger) were good as well. Would definitely recommend this place for a chill atmosphere in Zurich. There were also families, solo readers and groups of friends, so the Alehouse accomodates everyone!

What can you say? On Saturday it was great: especially good beer, friendly advice. When we wanted to pass by So again, everything was ready to close 40 minutes before the official closing time and the barman no longer wanted to serve us, only wanted to sell bottled beer. Why don't you adjust the opening times if you don't feel like having guests after 9 p.m.? Ruined the good first impression.

It is a mystery to me why this pub isn’t better visited: they have an awesome selection of specialty beers (although perhaps a few too many sours for my taste), they serve great food (especially the Ethiopian kitchen takeover they occasionally do is fantastic), and it is all over a great place to meet with friends, indoors or outdoors and perhaps play one of their boardgames!

For now 2 stars is the best I could do. We ordered 2 alehouse ramens. It came with pieces of crispy chicken on the side - this was very good. Ramen itself was tasteless and was missing the minced meat in both portions. The only condiments we've been given after saying the broth is tasteless was piri piri and tabasco. For a ramen - hilarious. Extremely disappointing experience. Not tempted to come back at all.

Had a really good experience here, tried a few of their beers, the Black Angus BBQ burger and the chicken wings. The food was really good and the place had a nice relaxed vibe. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

First, the staff here is so friendly and knowledgeable. Theyll help you find the perfect beer to drink and enjoy. They offer multiple vegan options on their menu (I enjoyed the vegan burger). A large selection of draft and coolers full of beer, it was easy to spend a few hours here. It was a beautiful day so we were able to sit out on their terrace. This place is awesome!

We were in Zurich for over a week and was at The Alehouse at least half the time :) Service, food, hospitality and drinks were refreshing and delightful
