Elegantly decorated Lobby bar with a nice view to the mountains. Not to forget the Cigar Lounge... very nice

Sehr schöne Bar mit einer sehr guten Auswahl, auch wenn die Drinks teils überteuert sind. Leider lässt der Service (die Geswchwindigkeit) zu wünschen übrig. Wir haben auf unsere Getränke gewartet, wärend der Barkeeper mit seinem Kolegen ein Pläuschchen halten, bis ein anderer Serviceangestellter die zwei darauf hinwies das unsere Bestellung schon seit einer viertel Stunde auf der Bar liegt und bearbeitet werden sollte. Bei 25 Franken pro Drink geht das nicht. Wer hochpreisig anbietet muss auch so arbeiten. Die Drinks waren aber super.

There are two kinds of dining/drinking/hotel establishments I have decided I am not going back to for any reason. The first is the “garden variety dive” where I have simply had a bad experience. The second is like the first, but because the establishment is so famous, and has so many admirers who gushingly adore it, that I am at least thankful I went there once, so I can tell my friends why I hate it and won’t go back, ever. I call these places “One-Timers:” such a place is The Lobby Bar in The Palace Hotel in Gstaad. The hotel is undeniably famous. Mythical. Towering over Gstaad like a tackier version of the Disneyland Magic Palace, it is truly the “Acropolis of Ersatz Switzerland.” Add a loyal army of the Global 1% searching for overpriced weak drinks, and you have “The Place to Be” in Gstaad. Undoubtedly, the hotel will not care in the least that someone had a bad time there (nor would any Palace patron in his right mind even notice something so utterly "inconsequential" as a $50 overcharge). I will admit the interior feels actually more Swiss than most luxury hotels in Gstaad. From the terrace, the gardens are fabulous and the views are great. You do see rich and famous people there. The Great Gatsby, were he alive today, would no doubt be a regular. But all that doesn’t matter if the service is slow, the staff are rude and cold and self-impressed, a “glass of wine” is poured two inches high and they try to additionally rip you off by adding a couple of $25 bellinis to the bill. After an evening spent waving idiotically for our waiters like paparazzi chasing elusive stars at the Cannes Festival, I started to ask myself “aren’t these people working for US?” Then the bill came, and after talking to several friends who have experienced the same thing, I don’t believe the $50 over-charge was an accident. I tried to speak with the Maitre d’Hotel, who waved me off impatiently. Then I found a junior waiter, and explained to him the situation, admitting that since my friends had left early, there was still a tiny chance I was wrong (I wasn’t: I confirmed the extra bellinis were indeed added to the bill). He proposed a novel solution: “I will refund your $50 in cash, and if you later find out you were wrong, just pay us the money as a tip.” Interesting: heads, the client gets ripped off; tails, my employer gets ripped off. The proposal also seemed well-rehearsed and time-tested. All this had the effect of weirding me out, and reminding me that the point of going out to nice places is not to see how many famous people are getting fleeced all around you, but to actually FEEL famous, assisted by crisp, friendly service. I have spent a lot of time in five-star hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants, as have our friends, who will all see this two-word review: Never Again. There are far too many other happy places to spend my time, and money, in Gstaad.

La qualité du service est, comme toujours, irréprochable. Aimable, respectueuse sans être prétentieuse. La cuisine est légère, soignée, avec des produits frais et de saison, et imaginative. Sur la terrasse ou à l'intérieur si le temps ne permet pas de déjeuner dehors, le cadre est enchanteur

The Palace Hotel sits imposingly above the town of Gstaad and captured our interest especially as my husband said it looked like something from the movie ‘Shrek’. We heard the manager had received the huge accolade of best hotel manager in Switzerland. We only had time for an after lunch digestif so our review is not of the full hotel. We only sat in the lounge but had a nice Irish coffee in sumptuously comfortable seats. The service was efficient and courteous if a little ‘stand offish’ - but that’s fine. The decor of the hotel is slightly vulgar with the reconstituted stone pillars and other grotesque touches that do make you think of a more artificial environment - but that’s just down to taste. I don’t think, based on that experience, I will choose to stay there for my next visit to Gstaad.

The lobby bar is always busy and full of interesting people. Gstaad meets all their friends here. The reason is simple. The Lobby Bar has good food, friendly staff always ready to help, every kind of mixed drinks you could imagine, an impressive wine list and super-duper single malt whiskeys. The club sandwiich is my personal favorit. What more could one want. Take the whole family and enjoy the atmosphere. Sink into the comfortable chairs and RELAX. It is easy to relax here.

What a great place! A real Palace with friendly staff, list of food for all tastes and amazing coctails.

Un endroit typiquement pour un début de soirée ou une fin de soirée. Ambiance feutrée, cadre élégant et raffiné. Le seul "petit défaut", c'est certains visiteurs qui pensent que de parler fort et se faire remarquer, parce qu'on est au Gstaad Palace, peut être parfois dérangeant. J'en fais la remarque, parce qu'il est parfois dérangeant d'voir soudainement une table très bruyante à ses côtés et alors qu'on est presque obligés de quitter nous les lieux plutôt que de pouvoir en profiter agréablement...

People from all generation go there, usually to have some drinks before heading to the Gringo club, just below. Prices are very expensive, but normal for Gstaadt. The crowd is very posh, but everyone is very nice and polite as well. There are not many other options to have drinks in Gstaadt, this is really the best place!

Lovely cocktails, friendly people, great live musicians and singers. Anybody who is somebody will definitely be there...

Schöne Bar, mit Optionen, um etwas Leichtes zu essen und etwas mehr zu trinken. Der Service war jedoch schrecklich - möglicherweise einer der schrecklichsten, den ich je erlebt habe, und sicherlich keinen, den ich vom Gstaad Palace erwarten würde. Ich weiß nicht, ob die Kellner einen schlechten Tag hatten oder ob es eher ein Fall war, in dem sie meinten, wir würden kein bestimmtes Vermögen angeben, aber sie waren einstimmig unhöflich und übermütig (und das hatte nichts mit der Sprache zu tun - Wir haben italienisch gesprochen, da die Kellner italienisch waren. Ich habe vor, in den nächsten Wochen noch einmal zu besuchen, um herauszufinden, ob dies eine außergewöhnliche Erfahrung war oder wirklich die Kultur ist.

Wir wollten am späten Nachmittag an der Bar ein Bier trinken gehen. An der Bar waren 3 Gäste und ein Barmann. Es hatte viele Angestellte die herumliefen, doch man konnte bei keinem ein Getränk bestellen, sie verwiesen alle auf den Barmann. Dieser war aber komplett uninteressiert an den Gästen. So warteten wir 20 Minuten. Unglaublich! Die Gäste neben uns wurden auch langsam wütend. Es ist absolut unglaublich mit welcher Arroganz dieser Angestellter die Gäste einfach warten liess. Es gab auch keinen ersichtlichen Grund- er stand hinter der Bar und zeigte Interesse an einer Kundin. Es waren nur 3 Parteien, wohlgemerkt. Also sicher kein Problem. Wir nahmen dann schlussendlich ein Bier, welches pro Glas 17 Fr kostet. Wir werden in Zukunft sicher wieder ins Alpina gehen. Ich gebe 2 Sterne und nicht einen weil das Bier an sich gut war. Bedienung: inakzeptabel

Disons-le, le lieu est mythique ! Eté comme hiver, il est agréable de s'y réfugier pour un verre ou même une collation pour déjeuner ou dîner. L'ambiance est là, le spectacle aussi. Les cocktails sont bons et la cuisine pas mal. Le service, quant à lui, est aléatoire. En général toujours gentil mais souvent complètement débordé, ce qui est difficilement acceptable pour un établissement de cette catégorie. L'hôtel manque très certainement de main d'oeuvre car l'attente est souvent très longue... Malgré cela, on y revient quand-même car c'est toujours fun !

Il paraît que Micheal Jackson voulait l'acheter ce beau palace. Je le comprends, car au-delà de l'architecture, il y a un petit quelque chose de magique qui plane dans l'atmosphère de ce bel hôtel. Passer à Gstaad sans au moins prendre un verre dans ce palace, c'est dommage. On y fait de belles rencontres, il n'est pas rare d'y croiser des personnes très sympas avec qui le contact se fait tout seul, ce qui débouche parfois sur de beaux projets. Personnellement je préfère m'y rendre dans la soirée car l'éclairage du palace vu de loin lui donne quelque chose de féérique et l'ambiance y est encore plus magique. Nous nous sommes bien amusés avec un serveur qui était très sympa et surtout qui avait un sens de l'humour excellent.Guy de Michelin.

Die Barkeeper haben alle Stars aus Filmen, Musik, Politik und Wirtschaft gesehen und wissen, wie man sich um normale Menschen kümmert, wie es die Reichen und Berühmten tun würden. Auf der Seite gibt es wunderbare Zigarrenzimmer mit tiefen Sitzen und einem Blick, um den Mund offen zu halten!

Ein Muss, wenn Sie wissen wollen, was in Gstaad mit wem los ist. Die Bar ist perfekt, die Speisekarte ist kurz, aber mit sehr guten Leckereien, super Club Sandwich und Pasta. Der Service ist der erhabene Gstaad Palace Standard, der Charme einzigartig.

Schöne, gemütliche Bar. Toller Ort um etwas Freizeit zu verbringen. Musik am Abend! Gute Getränke. Leider hat der Kellner, der uns serviert hat, kein Englisch oder Deutsch verstanden und keine Empfehlungen für Getränke

Das Mittagessen in der Sonne auf der Terrasse des Palastes bietet einen Geschmack des echten, altmodischen Schweizer Stils. Es gibt natürlich eine Speisekarte, aber der Palace ist ein Ort, an dem Sie so ziemlich alles bestellen können, was Sie wollen, einschließlich, in der Saison, gutes indisches Essen von einem Gast Meisterkoch. Der Service ist hervorragend von wunderschön choreographierten italienischen Kellner.Die Gäste des Palastes sind wohlhabend, zumindest wenn sie ankommen, und bieten ein reiches Spektakel für Menschen - Beobachter. Wenn Sie genug von den Gästen haben, können Sie immer die Landschaft bewundern. Die Aussicht von der Terrasse der fernen, schneebedeckten Gipfel ist unvergesslich und einer der besten in der Region.

Wir hatten ein schönes Club Sandwich! Empfehlen Sie diesen Ort unbedingt. Das Ambiente ist sehr schön, der Service ist sehr gut.
