The Yard in Zürich

The rooms are unreasonable and do not do justice to the prices. Rooms smell strongly of frying oil, uncleaned floors, stains everywhere, technical (sometimes dangerous) defects and a non-functioning safe. Rooms very run down and unkempt. The lack of a coffee machine (despite the availability of capsules) is excused with free coffee in the restaurant, which only opens after checkout. Blinds in the toilet are broken, adhesive film on the window allows a view of the neighboring building when using the toilet and showering, which is very unpleasant. There is no contact person, you can't negotiate anything. Avoid at all costs!

My Order came after 30 minutes. Then they forgot part of our order. And then brought the missing order a 50min later and i find it a little bit strange that they didnt even add a treat or anything as a gesture of customer importance. I specifically made this point for the restaurant aswell so they can in the future put the customer in a more important view.

Delicious food and friendly service of Chinese staples. Price performance is pretty good relative to other Chinese restaurants in Zürich.

As a Taiwanese - I can say the food was very authentic and delicious;) We ordered red curry shrimps, mapao tofu, pan fried circle dumplings, and hot & sour soup. Highly recommended!

The food is excellent and the restaurant is an insider tip if you don't want to go to a crowded hipster bar. The service staff is extremely friendly and very attentive. Highly recommended.

I ordered beef with celery stalks, rice, and a pasta dish. I got beef with broccoli, no celery stalks. I didn't have enough time to politely complain and wait for another dish. Unfortunately I was really disappointed. I've been waiting for this dish since 2004. No joke. The beef and rice weren't that tasty. Otherwise the food was quite good.

Excellent Chinese eatery, good service, charming people and excellent food

I was pleasantly surprised that Chinese food at The Yard tasted pretty legit! Usually, I will not voluntarily dine at Asian restaurants in Switzerland (or any western countries)... They usually cost a bit, yet any meals under CHF30 somehow always taste mediocre and/or underwhelmed. I'm a decent cook and can make a rather wide menu of dishes. However, I will recommend this restaurant anytime. We had a simple but great lunch, and the service (from the gentleman who hailed from Fujian) was warm and attentive. We paid about CHF23 per person (minus drinks). This may seem steep for some, but that is actually decent value by Zurich's standard. I will return.

It was so good that we kept ordering more! We were in a group with children in the restaurant in the afternoon and wanted to have a drink and a snack. We all enjoyed the various starters so much that we ordered more twice. We will come back.

We chose the restaurant ‚The Yard‘ for our dinner, since we were looking for some tasty asian food. The service was super quick. Unfortunately, the two ordered main dishes were not served at the same time (rather one came after the other), which was a pity. But they brought us a plate of complementary springrolls as a sorry gift, which was very thoughtful (and delicious!). The restaurant offers a vide variety of dishes with some vegetarian and vegan options. So all in all, I can recommend going to the Yard!

Flavorful, fresh, and deliciously spicy food. Lots of fresh vegetables included in the dishes. Would revisit for sure.

Really nice and cozy restaurant with great cucumber salad and crispy chicken. The fried noodles were a bit “boring”. But will definitely come again!

The best Fried Rice in Zurich!!

A rather small but very nicely furnished room with a comfortable bed, Nespresso coffee machine, large bathroom with walk-in shower. The service was very friendly. The food in the restaurant below is very tasty. Perfect for events in the Volkshaus. Thank you very much, I'll be happy to come back.

Amazing food and super friendly staff :)

This is NOT a hotel. They are renting out a couple of rooms above the Chinese restaurant at hotel prices. No hot water, dingy and damp, no reception, so you're on your own if there is a problem, and right next to a busy road. Don't stay here. Stay at motel one or literally any other place. This is not worth your money.

I have dined here several times, and the service has always been excellent. The lamb chops and spicy boiled fish are both deliciously prepared, reminiscent of home flavors. I will definitely bring more friends to try it out. Highly recommend

I have eaten here several times with friends. The taste can be said to be the best in Sichuan cuisine in Zurich. The location is also conveniently close to the train station and tram stop.

Food is good - if you get it. Ordered some dumplings via Smood at around 8:30 PM and order was confirmed to arrive between 9:45 and 10:00. After that there was no status update and the order was neither cancelled, nor did I receive my food. Really disappointed.

Stay away, not recommended Loved · The location was excellent, the bed was big, the room was huge. Provide drinking water and espresso coffee The floor in the bathroom is heated Disliked · The hotel has no staff at all. There is no one to talk to at any time. The hotel claims that the reception opens at 11:00 to 15:00, in reality, it is not clear where the reception is and on the intercom at the front door when you press the button of the hotel no one answers. Requests I sent by email were not responded to the matter, not even through the booking site. A request for a late check out I did not receive an answer at all. The TV is in demo mode, there is an information strip that hides the screen. The bed is not comfortable. The cleaning staff didn't clean the room at all, they just made the bed, they didn't even empty the bin. The toilets were not cleaned and they didn't even put a plastic bag in the toilet bin. There is no brush for the toilet, only its fixture which was empty. Dirty floor with stains, dirty walls with holes. The shower door does not close well and you have to hold it when you shower so as not to wet the entire floor. There is no water pressure in the shower, the shower head was clogged with scale and I had to clean it myself to take a shower, as mentioned there is no one to contact to take care of the problem, because there is not even a phone in the room. There is a kitchenette but there is no curtain and it overlooks the street without any privacy Actually, it's not a hotel, it's air bnb Not recommend at all.
