At this location you would expect the restaurant to be a little nicer and, above all, more lovingly designed. The offering is poor, the whole location has the charm of a McDonald's from the 80s. A pity. All of this would still work. But I definitely don't understand why the cigarette machine has to be in the best location in a restaurant that advertises itself as a family restaurant. I don't understand why there is even a need for a cigarette machine in a place like this with so many children.

Chicken nuggets & fries are edible here, that much I know from previous visits. Unfortunately, even when we asked at 3 a.m. on Saturday afternoon, there was no longer anything warm after our son's nap was over. Our kebab shop in the village does this better than this restaurant in the capital's zoo.

The restaurant is right next to the beautiful river Aare. It is a self serviced restaurant where you can take as hot abd cold meal, ice cream, coffee and tea for 4 CHF. The french fries was very delicious here)

The self service food is way too expensive and the portions were also very small!!! 5 dl Rivella Fr. 5.-- and that in self-service without a glass. The staff wasn't exactly friendliness personified either. A PITY!! Next time we will take our own provisions and enjoy them on a bench in the forest somewhere.

We stopped by the Dählhölzli yesterday in the most beautiful autumn weather. The food was okay. The fries were very nice. Although I am generally very frugal and know about the difficulties of the catering industry, I was very disappointed. All the tables outside were dusty and had never been cleaned that day. The same applies to child seats. A basin of water with a brown broth was available for this. There are also a few small things that could signal a welcome to the customer. At least write the daily menu outside so that everyone doesn't have to push past the queue. Then there is the exit door that everyone fights against when fully loaded. Why not leave it open for lunch. With a little love this could become a very friendly place. Even before the renovation.

The food in the self-service restaurant was just bad and completely overpriced. Staff was unfriendly. The tables were very dirty and we had to clean them ourselves first. Too bad Dählhölzli

Went to this restaurant down by the river. A bit strange that there is no balanced meal when families are the target group. The quality of the food was about that. Sauce was very thin and tasted like ready-made sauce. Fries were soggy and dripping with grease. At least it wasn't that expensive (except for the drinks)

In the self-service restaurant there is no vegi menu apart from the daily plate. The vegi spring rolls looked very dry. Otherwise there are only fries dishes or “ghackets with croissants”. The quality of the food wasn't good. The prices, especially for the drinks, are too high for the service

Service restaurant top! Food 5 stars, service 5 stars, ambience 5 stars. Self-service restaurant flop! Food 1 star, service 2 stars, ambience 1 star. Prices for a self-service restaurant with food that has been kept warm for hours as well as drinks, dessert and ice cream are exorbitant!

My sister and I come here regularly to consume something, but today it doesn't seem to be necessary anymore. When my colleague and I wanted to order something to drink and an ice cream, I was directed to the self-service restaurant and told I should order the iced tea there. In a cheeky tone and wild gestures, I have to think about coming to them again and am very disappointed.

Unfortunately my visit today was not good. Even though there wasn't much going on, the service seemed a bit overwhelmed. Drinks were forgotten or brought incorrectly. My food (cordon bleu) was still half raw. When I let it go back nothing came back FOR FOREVER. Only when everyone else was finished and I asked again did a completely new portion come back. Anyway... The 2 stars are for the beautiful surroundings on the Aare.

The atmosphere in the restaurant (outside) was pleasant and the service was friendly. The dishes were tastefully prepared. The vegetarian cordon bleu based on eggplant and zucchini (29.-) was particularly delicious and didn't remind you of meat. The restaurant also offers a diverse selection of vegetarian dishes, which is a positive thing. However, I find the prices for the simple side dishes, mostly French fries, annoying as they are in the upper price segment. I think the price for such side dishes is not reasonable and perhaps should be reconsidered.

After being ignored by the service staff for more than 15 minutes, we left without eating. It's a shame, but we will never come to the restaurant again.

A restaurant that closes at 5 p.m. even though there are still customers in the zoo. I find that an arrogant and stubborn attitude.

Located directly on the Aare, this restaurant invites you to linger. Cool drinks, delicious food and friendly staff. The prices are at the Swiss level and correspondingly high for us Germans.

We only got drinks, via Self Service. The place is quiet although it didn't particularly impress us.

Sitting here at a Monday, there are not too many people, but we get simply ignored by the three waiters, who are working here…and we ask ourself if we come back again. Truely an unpleasant visit. Food was a 3of 5 Sanitary installations 2of5 Service 2of5

The Dählhölzli restaurant impresses with its cozy atmosphere and excellent location. What is remarkable is the extremely friendly and attentive staff. A visit is highly recommended!

It doesn't invite you to linger and some swimming pool restaurants offer a much more appealing offering. It wouldn't take much and it would be a wonderful restaurant in a beautiful location. Mediocre competition would stimulate business in every respect! Price performance - doesn't suit me. Love for the activity and what is on offer - is not present and the first impression is accordingly. Before something significant changes there, we will probably hardly sit in this restaurant anymore.

The restaurant sits right along the famous Aare in Bern and is hidden in a nature setting in the city. The Zoo is close by abd also boast a ray of outdoor animals to see along the path of the river. A children's park is close by for families.

Not very sure about the food quality cause I ate only fries. But they have a decent beer selection and the location makes it an amazing restaurant... Super nice, to go there for lunch or breakfast on a, sunny day...

With this "sporty pricing" you might even be able to wipe the tables with a damp cloth in the self-service section...

A must-have when visiting Bern! nice atmosphere on the Aare, friendly service. Eating is only possible at set times, so we only had something to drink later in the afternoon.

I never actually write comments, but the employee at the buffet was very unfriendly (rolls his eyes, moans, comments, unmotivated, passive-aggressive). That's why I wouldn't recommend the restaurant! A pity :(

1. Half of the paid toys outside were broken, and there was no notice, many people dropped money in vain. When I mentioned it to the staff in the restaurant, they cheekily replied that this wasn't our place! It may be true, you can still do something good and at least write about it! 2. The food was sickening and completely overpriced for this poor quality, the spaghetti was almost swimming in oil, the rice was completely mushy and the French fries were anything but what you were used to. The staff unfriendly and unmotivated. Just a shame, such a beautiful place. If you had a competing restaurant nearby, no one would probably come to you anymore, and your many bad reviews show that nothing would be done about it.

For 3 drinks (5dl), 1 sausage with bread, a portion of ghackets with croissants and a portion of lasagne a total of 58chf...sry too expensive for me in a self-service restaurant for families. The taste of the food was ok but it could have been better. But I missed the vegetables for the kids instead of nuggets and fries.

It's a shame to offer such poor quality in such a place. Well, it was already 2:30 p.m., bad weather in winter and therefore not much going on. Still, no excuse to leave a self-choice buffet like that. Completely neglected and dried out. The employees also seemed unmotivated. The Dählhölzli could be a gold mine if more was invested in a well-groomed appearance. It is also relatively expensive. We're happy to pay a little more if the appearance is right. A pity.

Maybe the worst restaurant in Berne. Food is not nice even beverages are not really great (because coffee maker is not clean). The owner is the city of Berne which explains everything.

Unfortunately I have to agree with some of the bad reviews. The lady downstairs in the SB Resti was very unfriendly and you didn't feel welcome. Maybe that's the case at home, but here in Switzerland we're used to something different. Tight if you can't sit outside due to the weather (upstairs was closed). Eating nothing special... Next time either have a picnic or eat somewhere else.

Great ambience, especially in the warm summer when sitting outside by the Aare. The kids can play next to it and you can eat or drink something. The food is like canteen food, nothing special. The service isn't great either, so if you expect more, you should eat elsewhere. The atmosphere is great, especially for families.

Were self-service. Space in the restaurant is rather limited in bad weather. But the food was fine and the portion was big enough.

The chef at the buffet was swearing a bit and was probably in a very bad mood, and the food was accordingly. The fries were over salted...when we asked for ketchup we were told they were out of ketchup...very special. But the prices for a self-service restaurant are absolutely exorbitant and not justified for the poor quality. 2 portions of over-salted fries without ketchup as there was none, a beer (3dl Felsenau) for a little more than 20.00 francs…

Large outdoor patio with plenty of tables available. Quiet, with a view of the Aare. Playground for children.

The food was good but it took more than half an hour to serve us when there was almost no one and we were with 4 small children. The price, by Spanish standards, is high. The children ate pasta and the adults had a hamburger, salad, game and cordon bleu and it was all delicious.

Bratwurst with bread; there is only half a corner of bread. The best thing is when you sit at a table to eat you are sent away because tables only serve Ala menu.

Horrible customer service! I waited for more than 30 minutes with my toddler who was visibly very hungry and no one showed up to take order despite several reminders! The main waiter was not even busy, perhaps just incompetent ツ

The service is very friendly. It's just a shame that the menu only offers 4 starters and 4 main courses and that as a fixed offer, without a daily or seasonal menu! If you come often, it quickly becomes boring. This probably explains why hardly any guests come in the evening.

Family dinner for 15 people: wonderful place under the chestnut trees, the children in the playground. Table covered with white tablecloth - it looked fantastic. A warm summer evening with an aperitif and a fine dinner - wonderful! Highly recommended at any time, many thanks to the entire team!

The lentil ragout with sweet potatoes for 26.- turned out to be a bowl of lentils with 2 new potatoes. You could have at least mentioned that there was something else in it.... It was also massively overpriced, the price-performance ratio didn't match and the service didn't make up for it either! It's a shame if only we had read the reviews first...

Wednesday June 29th 12:15 p.m. Outdoor restaurant pretty well occupied. The restaurant guests are eating. At this very moment, the cleaning lady has to wipe the path between the tables outside with a rice broom. Only after repeated requests to stop this dusty wiping did she stop the cleaning - with great protest!!! The women's toilet, however, needed cleaning. Two cabins were in a disgusting condition! To eat - well - at least the hole in the stomach was filled.

The food was very fine. (Chicken nuggets with French fries) The chicken nuggets were a bit dry but still edible and very tasty. The staff is EXTREMELY FRIENDLY and helpful to people with disabilities. They serve cut the meat make pet bottles on simply TOP. (I JUST OBSERVED IT DOES NOT CONCERN MYSELF) I am very pleased.

Nice outdoor area and very friendly staff. However, after a few bad experiences, I will no longer eat at Dählhölzli. The quality of the food was repeatedly unsatisfactory. For example yesterday. After dry fish crispy with tartar sauce I got an upset stomach.

The service was completely unmotivated. We had to wait almost 30 minutes before we could just place the order. The employees keep passing us without paying any attention to us. After that the food came quickly. But one portion was forgotten. When it was added after asking, the tartar sauce was also missing. I ordered a 33cl Sinalco as described on the menu, but there was only a 30cl bottle. That's a joke🤔 But the food was good (that's why 2 stars, otherwise it would have only been 1 or less) I will not visit this restaurant again. Is not recommended.

Today is the last time I've been there with the family and I won't be consuming anything in the restaurant or in the restaurant himself. The service just hasn't changed. I hope the tenant will be changed. It's simply no longer tolerable. I've experienced a lot there. I don't recommend it. It doesn't even deserve one star.

Almost only fatty food (fries, nuggets, bratwurst, etc.), the only alternative is salad. I wanted a healthier and child-friendly meal. Too expensive for the quality offered.

From the outside in winter there is incredibly great and atmospheric lighting, inside the restaurant is rather simply furnished. We were almost the only ones there and it was very, almost too quiet. We might have liked a little background music... The food was good, the staff were friendly and the service overall was very quick and courteous.

We ordered a tartare. The plate was well presented. Unfortunately the toasts were cold, as were the fries. The tartare was pureed meat and the accompaniments (small onions, corn and pickles) only tasted like water. The butter was good. Honestly very DISAPPOINTING.

very good surprise! The hamburger looked really good! If I can afford it... I'd rather have a better piece of meat in a burger than this one. I thought it was a shame for the burger, the bread and the whole thing was great, the meat was a bit of a shame... My wife took the vegetarian game plate and it was delicious! Bravo!!!
