Uchitomi in Lausanne

The cuisine is passable, without problems but without fireworks. The problem is the policy of this company: the salespeople are underpaid, exploited and squeezed like lemons, by a family which makes a monstrous margin on each product sold, taking advantage of having a form of monopoly for the region. Uchitomi's only passion seems to be money. Have you forgotten that the main ingredient in gastronomy is love?

What a desappointment. I'm talking about the store and not the restaurant. It's been a while since I've been back there. My god, the price increase. Before, 5 gyozas 7.50, now 9.00 chf. Overpriced for what it is, even if they are delicious. To this I added a tray of 8 vegetarian rolls (9.80) and 2 additional soybeans because the one in the tray is ridiculously small, another 1 wasabi and 1 ginger, all for 20.00 chf all round. Well it's way too expensive. For a few francs more, I am served in the restaurant with a tablecloth and a napkin and also with a smile. Oh I forgot, they changed the packaging of the sushi. Even if I understand the "ecological" aspect, the top is still plastic and the bottom cardboard. How can I explain that my sushi remained stuck to the cardboard and that I spent more time with my chopsticks eating all the stuck rice grains than the sushi itself!!! suddenly the sushi falls apart and it's impossible to bring it all to your mouth. Lint! And the loyalty card, are we talking about it? you have to spend 500.00 to get 5.--, that means that after 25 passes at 20.- you have the chance to have 5.00 wow so generous thank you! I decided to lighten my wallet with one less loyalty card because I simply wouldn't go anymore. Too bad because the food is very good.

Store selling Asian and especially Japanese products. Unfortunately the location in the city center is without vehicle access. The store is small, you shouldn't go there with your family, because there isn't much space, the staff is very kind, attentive and meets expectations.

Japanese food items, but also cosmetics and other kitchen items, but also Origami accessories and papers. Do not hesitate to ask the staff for advice, they are very friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this business. 🎎

(East) asian market with rather extensive selection. They even offer some non-food, like oriental caligraphy brushes that are actually quite tricky to get here.

Very friendly welcome, very good miso soup but not against poor quality bento. I had a tonkatsu, very very disappointed. Small strips without texture, all soft, the breading also soft, no crunch, the rice had a bad taste, not to mention the accompanying micro vegetables. Even for 10fr I won't have it for lunch. It's very poor value for money and if you're looking for good Japanese go elsewhere. I didn't taste the sushi.

You can find various types of Japanese goods here. However one of the cashiers has the worst attitude on earth even when you are respecting their rules. The price is high already compared to other Asian stores, and there is no reason the customer has to suffer the bad temper. Just put someone who is more suitable for that position!

Great Japanese grocery store with loads of produce.

I got the wrong variety of rice, but the employees were understanding and immediately responded by looking for another package of rice of the same quantity. Top service! (I'm so ashamed because I know how to read Japanese and I didn't make the connection at all even though on the package it said "rice" and "mochi" in one word)

I don't understand the good ratings for this store. Having dated regularly, I was always snubbed. It’s Japanese politeness, so very, very cold. They have not learned to smile sincerely. I called on the staff for help, she just told me "we have more" then rushed to go elsewhere. She didn't even recommend a similar product to me. Fortunately I found some. At the checkout too, very cold, racist? She even searched my bag to make sure I didn't steal anything... amazing! If I'm not of Japanese descent and I don't need these specific ingredients, I will never go to them. I'd be better off buying some online.

Rather surprising and disparaging experience in this Japanese grocery store in Lausanne. We were forced to do our shopping with a basket by a saleswoman for reasons linked to theft, which we kindly refused (because an item to buy) it was then that a contemptuous attitude took hold of us. the saleswoman towards us. Delicious sushi. I go here regularly- the sushi is great quality. I have to say it bothers me to pay 0.20 for a sachet of wasabi when I just spent 80CHF on sushi, not very commercial…I would have given an extra sachet but that’s just my opinion.

Real Japanese products are always a great find. The price is a little high but the choice and quality are top notch. I recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the flavors of Japan.

Sushis are very good. Served with ridiculously small portions of pickled ginger, Soja sauce and wasabi. If you ask for more they point you to the fridge where you have to pay additional portions which is different Soja and ginger. No beer available had to go out to their other shop to get one.

An excellent selection of fresh, refrigerated, frozen and canned/freeze-dried products but also a whole selection of candies and sweet foods and on the first floor, lots of products for the home and for making crafts with the children

Sushi (to order) excellent!! Very friendly and helpful staff. You will find everything you need to cook good 100% Japanese dishes, or just buy instant noodles and a drink, although some products are a little expensive. I sometimes even find my favorite BOSS canned coffees there (so many memories). Upstairs you will find kitchen accessories and much more!

Perfect for all goodies from Japan, with any kind of food that couldn't be found easily in Lausanne, and especially with all those material upstairs : I get a mold for gyoza and one for futomaki ! They even have cookbooks, knifes and sharpening stone (around 90chf for the stone). It could be just a little expensive for some products that you could find elsewhere, but definitly, they have tresors.
