Let’s be clear: you don’t come here for the food or the service. This is one of the best places to enjoy food with a view. And what a view it is. We had lunch which was decent, and a beer. Overall expressive but what isn’t expensive in Zermatt? Totally worth it

Disgusting, and way too expensive for what it is. Just grab your own picnic. No food choices. For 2 small soups, 1 small gross salad, and a hot meal: 68 chf.

Although view of rasturant is good ,Very bad quality food not worth money you spent in this restaurant ,there are much better option available in Zermatt just 30 min away.

The Panorama Self is absolutely underground! Shameful for the price level in Zermatt and Gornergrad. The food is very bad!!! Goulash out of the bag, chicken nuggets made from the fish crispy frying oil, fries without any taste!!!

The restaurant has enormous potential to be the best, but the food is still always the same, without variety, the lifeless salads seemed old, which surprises me and knowing that a restaurant located in a popular tourist spot cannot be adapt to this, cold season the restaurant orders wines, Raclette, Fondue 🫕 it would be a good attraction, the negative evaluations made about the restaurant unfortunately I have to agree, however it is something that can be changed.

Classic tourist self-service. You choose from about ten fairly cheap dishes ranging from average quality to so-so. For a soup, a main course and a beer it is easy to spend €55/60 The view from the terrace is spectacular

I visited around 3pm on October 17th. The store was deserted and I was looking around because I didn't know how to use the restaurant, so the employee told me that it was a self-service restaurant. There were no ordering kiosks anywhere, and I noticed that if you brought your food to the checkout counter, the staff would just pay for it. They only brought food, and only then did they ask me to put the food on the plate. The employee doesn't have to pay the bills, but he just sits there and doesn't receive any help, so he feels like he's only given money and ignored. The bathroom was dirty because it wasn't cleaned, and there was a crow eating on the tray where customers ate and put their food. No matter how good the scenery is and many tourists visit without any publicity, there are concerns about the health of visitors due to substandard cleanliness and hygiene issues. I was satisfied with my trip to Switzerland 15 years ago and came back, but I was completely disappointed. I left Switzerland right away. I absolutely do not recommend traveling to Switzerland, let alone Zermatt. We recommend traveling to nearby countries where costs are low and friendly.

Listless, idealess, tasteless, unmotivated, disorganized and probably leaderless. What was on offer was shocking from A to Z. Offer only a fraction of what was promised on the website. Bratwurst with onion sauce that was slapped over the fries. Salad buffet empty...sorry! ...after the bike eats what is still there....no staff there to refill... 37Fr. paid and my stomach is somehow full... I'm from the industry myself... it's just horrible, the whole thing... it's a shame

Very bad! No concept and food inedible, chicken nuggets smell like fish and the food is cold by the time you receive it. Unfortunately, we only looked at the recessions in retrospect. Never again!

I worked there for 3 years, and for everyone who has had negative experiences, I can tell you what the problem is. The Burgergemeinde (Matterhorn Group) saves money on every corner of the mountain restaurants, and the profits are then used to renovate and gild the Zermatterhof needed.

The Gornergrat is so above ground, the food is so underground. The serviced restaurant closed at 1:30 p.m. Self service open. A chef, very nice, could only offer 1xChicken Nuggets and Napoli (nothing from the menu shown online). As the only *chef* very nice but completely overwhelmed, overcooked spaghetti, soggy in watery Napoli sauce for an endless queue of customers. It only fit the description Frass and completely unworthy of the place and a company of the leading hotel in Zermatt, the Zermatterhof! You rely on it, new customers will come...

Gornergrat is a must see place to enjoy the mindblowing views over the 4000m high mountains of Valais. But just do not go to the self service restaurant there. Since the last time we have been there the terrace is run by this abysmally bad enterprise. The wait already is a nightmare, too few staff for too many unsuspecting visitors. And with only one check out open, be sure to double your long wait. The food is mediocre at best and pricey, so price for value is nonexistent. Only thing halfway decent was Älplermagronen. Do you know why they waste such an incredibly beautiful location to such a bad restaurant? BECAUSE THEY CAN. They don't care about you, the customer! May this review be a warning to all future visitors - DO NOT EAT AT PANORAMA SELF RESTAURANT.

Catastrophe - the only name for it. a) Buffet food: overcooked rice, goulash like chewing gum b) à la carte: Bratwurst from the Hold-o-Mat left on the plate for 5 minutes and then unsalted fries thrown on top. Onion sauce is the equivalent of simply throwing onions into water c) Soup kettles were empty at 12:45 d) If you then want to pay with lukewarm food, there are 15 people in front of you at the checkout. Opening the second cash register is asking too much. Waiting time exactly 9min 20sec. Then the food was really cold. e) Tables dirty because no one cleans the tables. Rack for clearing away mostly overcrowded f) Staff tries to do the best, but they have poor English and are not at all proficient in the German language. I can only recommend everyone to eat in the valley and at most have a drink in this restaurant.

The chicken nuggets here are the most delicious. The portion is very small and all of them are French fries.. The fries are also delicious. I ordered chicken and spaghetti, but they only gave me noodles without any sauce. Everything was edible in some way.

I was surprise the rating is so low at here. We were having a quick snack here, the cashier lady was very friendly and she always smiled while serving us. The food was ok, the atmosphere is tip top. The price of the food was not much different than other places. So why do people complained?

I went there with my wife after a long and cold day of hiking. We arrived there at 16:15 and the restaurant closed at 17:00. The first thing we noticed when entering is that the entire service personell was all busy cleaning up the place already. There was no food available any more and also the chairs at the most beautiful spots inside the restaurant were already put on the tables. We were lucky to get ourselves at least coffees and a bar of chocolate. The staff was extremely unfriendly and left us waiting at the counter for 5 minutes, because instead of them serving us, they were busy cleaning the place already. When paying such a premium price to got to this scenic place, which is also a main touristic and flagship place of Switzerland, it is almost embarrassing to be treated like this. I don’t recommend anybody to go to this place!

I don’t know if Google Maps will allow me to use bad language But Yimano really has a good wet pussy I went to Zuocheng for a month and it was so ridiculous that I couldn’t eat it. I'm really hungry. I haven't brought any food for hiking. I don't have much choice. Enter left first and eat. I know from the review that I need to be prepared. This spaghetti is really a dick to your mother. I don't know how long the pasta should be cooked. It must be soaked in water. The personalized foundation is so watery that I can’t even sift out some water. Why don't you just talk about soup? Spaghetti is better than buying a bag of spaghetti by yourself Meat sauce = canned food, maybe better than canned food I'm here to help you, Dieye Zhong wants to freeze Bingbing Soup. No comment. Water. No residue. Damn, you are canned. It smells like canned food. Damn, I'm going to be so angry after eating this meal

Everything is great, but you need to keep in mind that the kitchen opens from 11 o'clock in the afternoon. Unfortunately, this is not written anywhere. We got up hungry in the morning and wanted to have goulash for breakfast, but alas :-)

The food was an absolute disaster. My spaghetti was floating in the water in the plate that was used to warm the spaghetti. The onion sauce was correspondingly very watery. Inedible. There was no more bratwurst, just cheese sausages. And all that for a hefty price of almost 30 fr. The man behind the counter couldn't speak German and spoke poor English. I definitely expected more for such an expensive place!

The European meals offer gluten-free options, which are quite good. The tomatoes are especially recommended and delicious. The view outside the window is unbeatable.

That's a restaurant with probably the best view in Zermatt. Food here is cantina style, but you don't have to eat here. Just have a drink for the the memorable experience.

The full service restaurant appears to be closed, we used to enjoy going to this terrace. The Self Restaurant was a disaster today. Beer and cola not cooled and extremely long waiting times before the food is served and at the checkout because there are only one staff at a time. Many of the foreign tourists were visibly annoyed. A shame for a place like Zermatt that calls itself a premium destination. Will there soon only be vending machines here due to a lack of staff? It's a shame for the beautiful landscape. Other destinations do it better and even cheaper.

I was a little hesitant to eat here after reading the reviews, but the kids were hungry so they ordered some grilled pork skewers, sausages and side dishes. Overall, the pork skewers were delicious, the sausages and side dishes were normal and not bad. The service staff had relatively few smiles but did not make us feel uncomfortable. I think we will choose to have a meal here next time we travel here!

The very worst Älplemagaronen I have ever eaten and that for 25Fr. The staff is completely demotivated and unfriendly. The yodelers and alphorn players who serenaded us this afternoon without any talent. The Asian guests didn't care. Rip-off to the power of ten. It's a shame in such a beautiful place. Really bad. I've never experienced anything like that in 50 years.

u come here for the view not for service or 5 star food. Our food tasted so good after a good hike. I finished it without taking any pictures. Casual and fun place to be. Chill with a tea or good 🍺 beer!

I was a bit hesitant going here seeing the majority of bad reviews. First I have to say the experience wasn't as bad as expected. The service leaves a lot to be desired, but they were friendly and helpful when asked. Would love to see some more enthusiasm from the employees though, but they definetly weren't as rood as other reviewers made then out to be. The food was average at best, and definetly one thing the reviews got right. I tried the pasta bolognese. It was fine, but very watery and lacked a lot of taste, almost like it's been frozen and reheated. Could have made something better at home. The most positive part of our visit has to be the view, and the fact that it wasn't too crowded when we visited. To summerize it's an OK place for a quick bite and a quick drink, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything else. Just know ehat to expect and you won't be to disappointed.

The ambience is great, Unfortunately we were unlucky with the food and decided on the Älplermagronen. A convenience product was a shame when we got it it was the last portion and just dry. Salad from the buffet was good, unfortunately there was only a limited selection. In such a tourist place, this dish would probably be homemade.

The buffet food tastes very ordinary The flow of movement is not very good, so it feels very confusing. But there are only a few restaurants on the mountain I only chose it for convenience

Not a great selection of food, lunch food is put out at 10am and you’re not allowed to buy it until 11:30 meaning it’s drying out under the warmers. 14CHF for a sausage and 10CHF for fries.

It tastes like shit. It's not cheap either. I ate it while waiting for the clouds to clear, but the fries were better and the spaghetti didn't taste good at all.

Two stars for the view. Were here today at 10:30 am. Sandwiches, etc. sold out. Kitchen doesn't open until 11:30 a.m. The Walliesr plates, which are "freshly" made, are only available from 11.30 a.m., which is incomprehensible for such a touristy place.

A tall man staff sitting at the cashiers are very rude. Bad mood, no patient and so service mind. Really ruin the atmosphere. I was asking for his help for checking my payment (coins) as I’m not familiar with the currency but he repeatedly asked me back with his finger pointing to the coin ‘what number is this, what number, if you know why you asked me’ I was so shocked from his rude reaction. Plus as I scrolled down to read others comments turns out not only me experiencing these terrible services. I believe the hotel should take it more serious and improve your staffs services and attitude towards customers.

The view is superb as it is on the top of gornergrat. But it’s not necessary as you can have a same or better view of matterhorn from all around gornergrat. Food is expensive than quality, but we understand the price is for the view. However, it doesn’t look like restaurant at all. It definitely is “cafeteria” for us as you have to look for the table and service yourself for the food, and on top of that the staff (that we can not find and don’t even know that they are exist) are very very…rude, especially old angry woman. Their duty is not for service you anything but just keep an eyes on anyone that may took food and drink into that place..even for children. It seem like those staff doesn’t be trained to have service mind and talk with people nicely (unbelievable in Switzerland). If you don’t want to ruin your memorized trip at gornergrat or even in Switzerland. I suggest you to better avoid this place!! Not worth for money at all.

Worst staff manners encounter in Swiss.Order a bread and coffee from them and putting our own drinking bottle water for kids is consider as picnic in their restaurant. We went in March and, despite the cold, the outside is a good place to eat something and relax while enjoying the view of the Matterhorn. However, the restaurant also has plenty of indoor tables for those who want to warm up. The restaurant had a medium queue, as people who are not staying at the hotel can also make use of the restaurant. It took us about 10 minutes to get food, drinks and pay. Despite the queue, the variety of options is great and the price is not very high.

Food and service are poor. They even forgot half of the ingredients of our soup. Prices are ridiculous. A true zero star experience.

Definitely AVOID this place. Absolutely RUDE, arrogant and disgusting behaviour from the chef. For paying a premium price, you would at least expect polite, helpful service. Instead, the chef argued with me about giving me what I wanted to order and instead of giving me my food, he continued to argue with me about extra add-ons which I didn’t want. Why is this restaurant hiring such a rude, arrogant, argumentative chef? He should know his place and serve the customer politely. The chef needs to be sacked for his disgustingly arrogant, smug attitude towards the customer. Not only was the chef being uncivil, the food that I got wasn’t even cooked properly. Completely unacceptable.

Unfortunately you can't give less than one star. In addition to the unfriendly staff, there is also the tasteless and expensive food. Goulash soup without any content and a vegetable cream soup with vegetables standing next to it and not being used. You can't talk about coffee with milk. Dishwashing water has more taste. The question arises as to why visitors from all over the world are being duped in such a wonderful place. We're definitely not coming back

Location is top notch, clear view of the terrain especially The Matherhorn. There are indoor and outdoor seating. Depending on the weather, pick what is best for you. Food wise, I would say it is average at best. Nothing to shout about. Choices are limited but I guess the reason why you are there is not for the food. Please take note that outside foods are not allow even for the outdoor seating.

There were 4 of us there The prices were completely overpriced and you got almost nothing. The pork schnitzel with fries for 25 fr was about 80-90 grams and the fries were also small.

I ordered chicken nuggets with fries. What I got suddenly had the consistency of “fish nuggets”. These nuggets were not very fine. But the worse is yet to come. The fries were tasteless. For 18.90 the food is not justified at all. Logically, the prices are set high because of the tourists, but you have to achieve better quality. The view was very nice, you could see the Matterhorn. I recommend everyone to eat in a good Swiss restaurant in Zermatt and then take the train to the Gornergrat.

I ordered chicken nuggets with fries for 20.10 CHF, with 2 sauces. The fries were unsalted and already cold when he prepared the chicken nuggets. There are also some questionable things about the nuggets. I have never had such a strange consistency of chicken, it also smelled relatively strange, overall picture: more like crispy fish. Don't eat there anymore. Prices exorbitant for the output. Go to Visavis next time. Must be a lot better, but just. Milking tourists like everywhere else. Keep it up!

The view there was superb, but the cashier was very rude. I went there for our vacation on October 16, 2022. When I paid at the cashier around 1 pm, that was a terrible experience. I asked the cashier to help me regarding my payment. However, he just felt angry and throw my coin very rudely. Hope you all do not have such a bad experience like me.

If you could give 0 stars then that would be a 0 star rating. The food was almost cold, had been kept warm for what felt like 3 hours and was simply extremely expensive for the quality you get. Even for a small slice of bread you have to pay extra. I recommend you don't eat there.

I don’t know how anyone can give this place anything other than a one star. Not only is this cafeteria ridiculously expensive (taking advantage of the fact that they’re one of the only places up there), they just serve cafeteria style food. Low quality, small serving of spaghetti. You have to also pay for ketchup packets and a glass of tap water (4 CHF). Even standing up to walk two feet for the hand sanitizer, you need to put on your mask before you sit back down. ???

Worst restaurant and that last at front was very rude. They reserved all the table by the windows. Price is very ridiculous high and charged me 3 franc for just glass of water after buying meal from them

Expensive small portions and cold food

Went to the self-service restaurant for coffee and cake in March. Everything tasted good. The sun terrace with a view of the glacier world is unique.

This is a self-service restaurant. It's a little cheaper than the rest of the restaurants in the ski area. Everything looks clean. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. From the terrace you have a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains and glaciers.

The only positive thing about this restaurant is the view. Very unfriendly staff, hardly any choice for something small to eat.

I came to the restaurant, but the prices were expensive. Spaghetti and curry don’t taste good… If I had to choose, it would be spaghetti. The curry rice is too hard. The number of restaurants is -4 points, and the scenery score is 5 points out of 1 point.

Unfriendly service. Received food with sauce although clearly NO communication. Additional vegetables were clearly ordered that were not on the plate. When I asked, they denied everything and said it wasn't possible to have fries AND VEGETABLES. Once and NEVER again, it's just a shame that such rude people are allowed to work in such a beautiful place.

The large room seems a bit sterile, cafeteria-like. Selection of dishes extremely poor; which is probably due to the January slump. The spaghetti Bolognese was mass produced. The Bolognese had no taste, but there could have been a few grams more of it on the plate considering the price of CHF 19.90. At least the spaghetti was well cooked and plentiful. The bright spot: the friendly staff.

This restaurant (if you can call it that) is an absolute eyesore on the beautiful mountain village of Zermatt. I can say that I have NEVER met such unfriendly staff anywhere in Switzerland. Including management of the house. The shop was completely empty, you could feel the bad mood of the entire team right up to the entrance. Don't take your frustration out on the guests, close your shop, you are absolutely unacceptable for Zermatt!!

Better bring your own snacks, and avoid this small restaurant. Otherwise it will only ruin your beautiful trip to the mountain in the end. The workers of this restaurant are faceless cold people and unfriendly. One can feel that their paranoia of virus is immense. Pity on them.

Not to be repeated!!! Until a few years ago the restaurant was very good, there were real dishes cooked with good products! Today very very salty soup (probably powdered soup to which water is added) and “Älpermagronen” (a strange mixture of pasta and potato cream without cheese) not corresponding at all to the typical recipe…. And hot beer!! The service does not help matters.. Too bad for the image of the city of Zermatt…. Go on your way!

Nice restaurant and friendly service. Unfortunately the food wasn't particularly good. I had a pork sausage with onion sauce. The onion sauce has nothing to do with a sauce. It was very watery and had no taste.

Very beautiful panorama. The food is delicious, we were pleasantly surprised. Very nice discovery!

We have been visiting the Panorama Self on the Gornergrat on every Zermatt vacation for years. We always looked forward to a portion of delicious pork loin steaks with herb butter and fries. Unfortunately, the quality of the meat has become much worse this summer. It was no longer a lean sirloin steak, but a fatty and gristly cheap pork schnitzel. Very unfortunate. We would have liked to come over next winter. But now we'll have to look for a replacement down in the village.

Very poorly received. Strong smell of frying... not welcoming at all. Doesn't even make you want a self-service coffee.

Das Restaurant ist etwas nüchtern gehalten. (was leider bei fast allen Bergrestaurants mit Selbstbedieung der fall ist) Jedoch sensationell ist, die wunderbare Aussicht aufs Matterhorn und das Bergpanorama von Zermatt. Das Buffet ist etwas klein und eng - was in der aktuellen Zeit einige Gäste stöhrt. Hält man sich aber an die BAG-Regeln ist alles bestens. Die warmen Gerichte werden frisch zubereitet und an den Tisch gebracht. Dies finde ich aktuell sehr toll und super Service. Das Essen (Grillschnitzel mit Kräuterbutter und Pommes) war sehr lecker. Die Pommes mit einer Gewürzmischung aus Paprika, Salz und Kräutern gewürzt. Die Speiseauswahl enthält die klassischen Selbstedienungsmenüs. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und man fühlt sich willkommen.

Das Selbstbedienungs-Restaurant gehört zum Kulmhotel Gornergrat. Für die vielen Besucher hatte es viel zu wenig Platz. Die schöne Aussichtsterrasse war komplett voll und die Gäste standen bereits für einen frei werdenden Tisch an. Das Weissbier kostet CHF 8.- und ein Butterbrezel CHF 3.- Das Selbstbedienungs-Buffet ist viel zu eng und klein für die Anzahl Gäste. - Besonders mit der aktuellen Situation, wo man erst recht Abstand halten sollte! Die Aussicht auf die Bergwelt ist wunderschön!

Poor food choice, basically just french fries and sausages , or pasta. You should only cone here for the glacier. The Matterhorn can be seen from any other place for cheaper.

We stopped by the restaurant for lunch. The staff was extremely friendly, but the food was absolutely subpar. It was supposed to be Älplermagronen, pasta with cream sauce and thin whistle was served. Thanks, no thanks and never again.

View is gorgeous (you don’t have to eat here to enjoy that though.) However the food is mediocre and overpriced. Grab a hot drink and dessert if you decide to get anything. Service is hurried and staff is rude. If you’re going to eat up top, eat at the Paradise Glacier Matterhorn Restaurant instead. Better selection, and service.

It's a bit of a shame when the train runs until 8 p.m. but the restaurant is more or less closed at 5 p.m. Even a beer was hard to find, except Heineken. Food was also lacking
