At first our order request was simply ignored and we were ignored for 15 minutes. When we wanted to order only 2 main courses with 3 people, we were arrogantly pointed to the menu. You should order one main course per person! This at 3:30 p.m. with a practically empty restaurant! We left the restaurant without comment and will definitely not visit it again. It seems like the restaurant generates enough profit margin even without visitors.

This place is huge - four floors huge - but don’t let the size put you off. The menu is a combination of traditional Swiss and Italian favorites. Well prepared, and tasty provided with friendly and attentive service. Located directly in heart of Zermatt.

Steer clear! FLY INFESTATION!! Visited here with my wife and young daughter. The restaurant was ridiculously hot, so I politely asked that they opened a window but was told they couldn’t. I decided to take my baby outside for a couple of minutes to cool off as I could see sweat beading on her forehead. When I come back inside I was confronted by an old sweaty, creepy looking man who told me I shouldn’t be taking my baby outside. He turned out to be the owner/manager of the restaurant who had taken umbrage to my request to open the window. He proceeded to stare through the glass of the booth in which him and his drunk girlfriend were operating from, which I could only imagine was an attempt to intimidate us. We noticed flys in the wine we were drinking as we left, which was strange considering staff are on strict orders not to open any windows. Please explain??? Food was nothing special. Our waitress was excellent, however she wasn’t very forthcoming when I expressed my displeasure with her boss. She seemed intimidated more than anthing.

A great restaurant with good food especially the fondue varieties. Price-performance ratio is right and the waiter Carlos is friendly and even has a really great sense of humour.

Tatar was quite nice , all the extras worked well , however in my opinion could be chopped up a little bit better also the bread served with tatar was disappointing, in zermat where there is so many nice bakeries with real sourdough bread serving square toast artificial bread is a bit of faux pas .

Absolute disgrace for this place. The owner may be able to do a lot, but customer focus is not there. We arrived later with friends 30 minutes before the kitchen closed. It was insisted that each of us had to eat at least one main course. Before/dessert and drinks do not count and the individual must leave without consuming the main course. I have never experienced something like that. Especially since the store was half empty. The owner then wanted to teach us. Apart from getting the cost of drinks, we were then allowed to leave. Sorry, never again.

The restaurant has certain terms and conditions which is absolutely understandable however they were presented to us in a very disrespectful and rude way. Absolutely not acceptable. The staff needs to be informed about how to explain the terms and conditions or rules to the customers in a polite and a respectful way. Additionally the restaurant should inform their customers about their rules in advance upon arrival or at booking time. Please note that we decided not to eat or drink after the situation occurred. As we were forced according to their terms to each have a drink and a main course.

Dogs are not accepted. We weren't told on the phone that the fondue was only available from 6:30 p.m.

The Carbonara was delicious and a good portion size. It went great with a lager. Overall had a good time.

A culinary highlight is hidden in the basement of the Walliserkanne: excellent meat and fish fondue from the buffet with a variety of sauces in an ambience of a high artistic level. However, there are two small downsides: for some of the home-made sauces that are advertised, the chef should think again about the recipe (too much filling content) and we only know of a 6% surcharge when paying with a credit card in developing countries - that seems unspeakably provincial and the reason given for it additionally embarrassing.

We had just arrived in Zermatt after a 2 hours flight and 4 hours train journey so we were starving. Stopped here for lunch and it was quite pleasant. The restaurant looks fabulous and the service was great. We loved it

DO NOT GO!!!! Their card machine is broken when i am paying. They forced me to leave my id card and come back later to try again given that i don’t have cash. They acted like it’s my fault to not always having cash. Also FYI, the google review has rosti, but they no longer have it on the menu.

A disgrace for Zermatt in the middle of the village and incredibly provocative and aggressive advertising. Outside the entrance everything is covered with embarrassing, shameful and denigrating advertisements against the government.

We showed up at 1900 on a Sunday and were immediately shown to a table. I had the large mixed salad as a main, and my wife had the bratwurst. We finished off with a shared creme brulet. Food quality and taste were excellent, and the service was friendly and efficient. We would definitely go back. Some previous reviews mentioned you are required to each order a main and a beverage. This is true, but it is posted clearly on the first page of the menu, so no one should be surprised. Some of the previous reviews also mentioned a cash only policy. This is not true. I paid with my credit card and encountered no problems whatsoever. The menu even shows which cards are accepted. Visa, Mastercard, etc., are fine.

What can I say other than that despite the pleasant decor, the staff is not welcoming, the meal in the Italian restaurant is without much pretension except for the high price (more than 30.- for a Pizza, never seen in Switzerland). The concept of meat fondues is attractive but given the price (once again) you will quickly end up breaking the bank. Add that it is not possible to enter this establishment if you return from skiing with your sports shoes (but is Zermatt a ski resort?)

I recently visited the Walliserkane restaurant in Zermatt and would like to share my experience, which was mixed but mostly positive. Although the service wasn't bad, it lacked the warmth and receptiveness that often characterize exceptional dining experiences. A friendlier and more attentive service would have significantly added to the overall quality of the visit, making the meal enjoyable not only in terms of ambience and food, but also in terms of human interaction. In summary, the Walliserkane restaurant offers a comfortable ambience and a good culinary option in Zermatt, particularly highlighted by its heated open-air ambience. However, to become truly notable, it could benefit from an effort to create more distinctive dishes and offer warmer and more inviting service.

Everything was very good, even a quick cheese fondue shortly before departure was made possible.

I spontaneously went to the Valaiskanne and ordered the bratwurst with homemade curry sauce with potato gratin and vegetables. It tasted very good. The service was also very accommodating. I will definitely eat at the Walliserkanne again.

This place had dozens of open tables and we came down as a party of six to order dessert and drinks for everybody and we were told we had to leave because we weren’t all willing to order main courses as well.

We had dinner twice in this restaurant during our last visit to Zermatt. Atmosphere is very warm and cozy, excellent service and the most delicious food. Kids received small gifts with purchase of kids menu items (toy cars, lollipops, crayons, coloring pages, erasers etc) - enough to keep them entertained for days after our dining experience. Kids pizza was bunny shaped, very cute and most importantly- good size portion. We also tried fondue, roclette, pizza, chicken, meats, gluhwein. Everything tasted great and priced reasonably.

The "boss" Antonio was extremely rude, we arrived for a late lunch and there were plenty of free tables but he wanted us to share a table with another couple and we refused. So he took us to the second floor in a very rude way not happy about we didn't want to share the table. He gave us a big table, instead a small one for two people and said we might have to share that one too. I said to him I hope is not the case and he left moaning. Guess what ... He brought the next guests to our table and of course they refused and left. What kind of attitude is that from a person in charge of a place? We will never come back here!

Honestly, I should've checked the reviews warning about this restaurant being a tourist trap and the manager being terribly rude. It's kind of a letdown for Zermatt. Despite enjoying our time here, this restaurant is a whole different story. The manager's rude, the food is too pricey, and it's not that great. This was my worst restaurant experience ever. Seriously, I'd suggest avoiding this place like the plague.

Really lovely restaurant. They have gluten free options! So a win while in Zermatt. Food was amazingly tasty and large servings. Lots of reviews regarding the service made me hesitate, as diet requirements can be frustrating. But the staff were great. The restaurant does have a couple of strange rules, every adult must order a main and a drink... but other than that great place to eat. No more expensive than every other restaurant... it's Switzerland!

The “owner” or “manager” seemed very annoyed that we would want to sit at a table near the window (which was for 6), rather than a table for 2 in the gangway. The restaurant was 3/4 empty at 5pm on a Monday. And he was abrupt and rude about it. Oh well. We’ll give our business to somewhere else.

We walked in, the place seemed cool at first. We were greeted by a host who was rude, he escorted us downstairs. The server was extremely rude and shouted at us, she didn’t welcome us or say hi or anything. We wanted to share a fondue but she forced us to their guidelines on their menu. Yes it’s the rules of the restaurant but it’s very weird in my opinion. Mind you, we decided to leave without eating or drinking. So disappointing and disrespectful.

I've been going to Zermatt for 38 years and have eaten in the pot countless times. I celebrated my birthday there five times with 20 people. A couple of friends came up to Zermatt for a day today and I recommended the pot to them. When I wanted to sit down at the table with another friend, but “just for a drink,” I was told by Antonio that that wasn’t possible, that there was no room for guests who just wanted to have a drink…. It's currently 4:45 p.m. and the entire restaurant is completely empty except for two tables... Hospitality is nil. That was the last time in the pot after 38 years!!!

Was reluctant due to touristy street this restaurant sits on. Food was excellent, raclette and pizza (better than “Pizza” restaurants in zermatt). Inside was very big but also quaint. Pleasant surprise for what looks like a tourist trap.

I don't understand all the bad reviews at all. It was the best pizza I've eaten, I've never had pizza like that in Italy. My husband had a steak and it was absolutely delicious. A big compliment to Carlos from Portugal, a very friendly and attentive waiter 👍 Price performance is simply top

I have never been disrespected by a server until I ate at this restaurant. The waiter with the tall frame and glasses rolled his eyes simply because our table ordered a popular drink during winter in Switzerland. We were polite the whole time, and the server still spoke to us harshly and impatiently. The meal was enjoyable until we got full and the waiter scolded us, saying he wouldn’t give us the check until we finished our meal. There are plenty of other places to get this type of food and good drinks in Zermatt, so skip this one.

I really don’t leave reviews but the waiter was very rude i’ve never seen someone roll their eyes because I order mulled wine? Super odd guy that wouldn’t give us the check until I was fully done with the food. Gen Z is pretty tolerant but this place could do better with the people they hire being a decent human isn’t hard.

The food itself tasted normal, but the waiter who served the cheese pot only gave us potatoes and bread, and not the fruit that was written on the menu. When we asked about this issue, the other person said it was because we didn't ask for it. I was curious why we had to ask for the dishes that should be served. At the same time, the menu was only in German and French. When I used the software to translate it, the waiter said, "I don't understand why you can't understand it. This is baked rice, this is pasta..." He repeated it in broken English pronunciation and I still listened. I don’t understand the words, which makes me feel ridiculous. I have traveled to more than a dozen countries around the world and speak four languages. This is the first time I have seen a service staff who thinks that foreigners should adapt to their language. The train platform in Zermatt has welcome signs written in various languages, but people in this small village (not just this store) don't seem to practice this. On the contrary, the rudeness brought about by some people's limited knowledge is obvious, making it difficult to be satisfied with this place. (Especially after my recent trip to the Himalayas, the scenery here was below my expectations.)

So disappointing, ate in one night and had the most delicious pasta and pizza. Had the exact same pasta for takeaway the next night and it was terrible. Less than half the amount of pasta sauce so essentially just a bowl of noodles. Couldn’t even add the Parmesan we asked for on top. For such high prices you need to keep your standards up across dine in and take away.

The place is beautiful, to be honest. But the service is rude, not what you expect in a place like Zermatt. All the bad reviews are very real. We are a family of 4 and my parents wanted to eat pizza, both don’t eat to much for dinner so they wanted to share one pizza. My sister and I ate before going to this place so we were just going to order some drinks. But they say that you must order a main course and a drink per person or leave, it’s ridiculous. So we left. In the restaurant business a nice, friendly and kind service is a MUST. You can find a lot of better places in Zermatt so don’t bother to visit this place. Not worth it.

The pizza was very tasty, the draft beer was good and the server was very attentive.

We stopped here hoping to get some burgers. For some reason we were desperately in the mood for burgers. We sat down and ordered drinks and started looking through the menu. No burgers. Boo! We figured we would finish our drinks and then find a burger joint. When we told the waiter this he seemed annoyed. Sure enough, he came back and asked us to move from the table we were at to another table within 5 feet of where we had sat down. Instead of being moved, we drank our beer, paid the bill and left. I considered the actions of the waiter to be a reflection of the service for this restaurant!

There is a heated patio on site. Cozy atmosphere, the waiter was attentive and friendly in his own way. We were there at lunchtime and didn't have to order a meal, we could just have a drink. Nevertheless, we decided on raclette, which was delicious. Unfortunately we had the Prosecco from the table next door on our bill.

Large and spacious restaurant, low prices for the country average but also the quality is not the best. Among the dishes tried, the pasta is terrible, the pizza is barely salvageable and the meat is decent.

Check the receipt on them. You can include the order from the next table on your receipt even if you're not very busy. And I didn't hear an apology saying that I was sorry even if I asked for correction. I left a very unpleasant feeling when I left the taste of the food and paid at the end..

I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant! Huge space, you will definitely find a place to sit, the food is delicious! A bit expensive but what is not expensive in Zermatt?

Need to warn you!!! The sever is very nude before we sat down. His attitude closed to disgust and unbearable. Parents need a bigger spacious seats for wheelchair, but they aren’t accommodating. They didn’t warn us ahead of how many main dishes you have to order . Didn’t rate the food as we were not happy and just walked out to an another better restaurant.

I was worried because there were many reviews about racism and poor service, but I was very satisfied with the server and was very satisfied. Although the Azzoti with the bright eyes was a bit unfriendly, the young male server was very friendly. I was going to order raclette, rösti, and fondue, but the kind server said that since raclette and rösti are similar foods, I could order only one of them, so I ordered only rösti and fondue. When ordering fondue, always ask for white wine!!!! It took about 20 minutes for the food to come out, and although it was expensive (about 80 francs for two), it was really delicious!!! We made good memories, took pictures, and there was no pressure to pay in cash!

The restaurant is not bad, a little expensive but it’s Switzerland so everything is like this. Not good relation price/quality, service was really bad. We sat outside and the waiter was so rude.

Very... atypical restaurant. I had excellent memories of it from my youth. He has clearly lost his splendor. The atmosphere is very special, you feel like you're disturbing. Attention tourist case. -Food fills you up, but it doesn't make you happy. We had carbonara (in cream soup), soft pizza with no taste, raclette disappointing) -only the service was good. -too expensive for the performance It's worth making a reservation at another restaurant. Extremely rude manager and staff. We asked to be inside and they put us in a corner for no reason with chairs arranged in a weird position. Food was lame and expensive. After a bad service the waiter what bold enough to ask “what about tip?”. DO NOT GO THERE!

Some of the food was good (veal bratwurst with curry sauce (really a weisswurst, but not what they called it) chicken with mushrooms), some was tasteless (squash puree, French fries with herbs--barely warm). Food was slow to come out off the kitchen. Server was good, but very busy.

Scamming by charging TWO fondues instead of one! Extremely unfriendly staff, including the manager (or owner). They charged us two fondues instead of one that we ordered, although we were four adults, ordering four main dishes, one of which was fondue. Afterwards they tried explaining that we should have returned it immediately, “now when it’s eaten there is nothing he can do.” As it came in ONE bowl, it was imposible to know if there were two portions. I asked if I should have a scale with me, to measure the cheese, to know if he served one, two or maybe four portions! We made mistake because we didn’t check the reviews before, as it’s obviously their sneaky tactics. Shameful attitude and customer service. I would be afraid of karma in their place.

EXTREMELY BAD SERVICE! The staff are so unfriendly and unprofessional. Sitting there 10min without menu & no one give a f (not peak time, staff are free) Asking for the menu (staff acting like didn’t see us, only serve local but not tourist) In the end, we decided to just leave the unprofessional restaurant. Yes, I’m a tourist, I love Switzerland, love the people here and respect everything here. People in Switzerland are so lovely, but the staff in this restaurant, making a shame in your country. I don’t expect a very good service but at least a BASIC service. There are many different skin colour in this world, yet we’re all the same human beings, please respect each other like we do! Please well-trained your staff!

Amazing pizza! Had a delicious lunch here. Ingredients were all fresh and tasty. Mixed green salad and pesto pizza were both a hit! Service was wonderful.

The restaurant boasts a charming ambiance with beautiful street views and table decorations. In Zermatt, where most places don't serve dinner before 6 pm, this restaurant was a rare exception. Their cheese fondue, especially the vegetarian herb version with boiled potatoes, bread, and fruits, was outstanding. The service was attentive, and our overall experience was truly great. If Swiss cheese fondue is on your to-do list, this restaurant is a must-visit!

Rude service and rude policies (they force to every one in the table to order a main dish and a beverage, we were 4 people but I wasnt hungry, then they told me I needed to ask for main dish and beverage or I needed to leave the restaurant, I have never seen that kind of policies any place around the globe, zero classy. Also average food but sooo expensive, doesnt worth it, I dont recommend it.
