Vogesenstube in Basel

The food was very good and the chef made something for us even though we were there after 2 p.m. and therefore outside the hot meal time. The ambience can be improved, but I don't attach too much importance to that. What is important is that it is clean and the food is good. The price-performance ratio is also good for Basel conditions.

Unfortunately, they could not rate the food. We specifically went to this restaurant, there were plenty of free seats, but upon entering we were warned that we would have to wait more than an hour. Since we arrived in Basel for 1 day, it would be an unacceptable waste of time for us.

The restaurant has little space due to a separate smoking area in the middle of the restaurant. Many older people take advantage of the offer of a cheap lunch here. Space was therefore very limited and I was just able to get a spot. Here I enjoyed a lunch which was good and very good value for money.

Bourgeois cuisine. For the pork Gordon Bleu with fries at 32.50, there should also be a small. There should be a salad. It is better to offer the piece of meat (large Moggen) a little smaller and various vegetables on the plate. The Gordon Bleu was well stuffed with cheese and fried very well. The service was good and so was the waiting time for the food to arrive. As far as the ambience is concerned, it is the same as in most other Quartier restaurants in Basel. 🤗

The food is outstanding! The best Züri-Gschnätzlete with fresh Rösti. The service is courteous and warm. It's pleasant in the garden at the moment. The interior is a bit old. I can recommend it.

Very fair prices and the food tastes good. We got a lunch menu with rice, meat and a starter for 17.90 CHF. I will gladly come again.

The restaurant looks inconspicuous from the outside and looks like one of the many “neighborhood restaurants” in Basel. So far I've been able to try the Cordon Bleu with fondue cheese (in the restaurant and by delivery) and the Wienerschnitzel (by delivery). For me, the Cordon Bleu is one of the best in the region. The prices are also unbeatable and are well below the usual prices in Basel. The whole thing was rounded off by very friendly service.

I have rarely eaten such good deer ragout. Everything is prepared in a very traditional way, it doesn't always have to be 'spruced up' with new-fangled chic. The staff is friendly and effective. I like the character of the neighborhood pub, but the color scheme of the 'Säli' (neon green walls) may not suit all guests' tastes, at least not mine. But overall an experience that I would like to repeat, including with other dishes. Konrad Hug

Cozy and authentic neighborhood restaurant in the middle of St. Johann. The host couple is very friendly and accommodating. Everyone is welcome here. The menu impresses with a large - but not too large - selection of home-style and seasonal dishes. If you want to eat some fine Leberli (a local specialty after all!) with butter rösti for under Fr. 30 in Basel (beef and veal!), you will find what you are looking for here. I was also told that their cheese fondue (with a mix from the host) and fondue chinoise are very tasty - but I haven't tried them myself yet. In general urban comparison, the prices are kept low, which further underlines the character of the neighborhood restaurant. Definitely worth a visit. I will gladly come again.

It looks rather inconspicuous from the outside, but offers very tasty food. We were looking for Rösti and were surprised with a wide range of offerings. Furthermore, the staff is very friendly. Absolutely recommended.

My girlfriend and I just had an absolute blast! Delicious food, friendly service and a very quick take away. Price performance is very good, even inexpensive and very fresh and hot. I can say with a clear conscience that the Vogesenstube is one of the highest quality take-aways in Basel. Simply bomb, thank you for the great food. Recommended times ten!!!!👌 And don't forget, support the Covid-stricken restaurants!!!!

Sehr preiswertes Essen und qualitativ sehr gut. Auch wenn es beim Tagesmenue geschnetzeltes Fleisch gibt, wird dies frisch a la minute zubereitet, was ich sehr schätze, da dann das Fleisch noch saftig ist.

If you let the unappealing facade put you off, you're missing out on a good restaurant. Inside, the restaurant is very well preserved, a cozy place untouched by modernity. The food is very good and the prices are low for Basel. The service is friendly and the other guests were funny. It's worth a visit.

A huge menu. Well-done rump steak with fries for CHF 20.- Schnitzel with fries for CHF 10.- Sausage and cheese salad with fries for CHF 16.50 Large beer for CHF 5.- In winter there is a smoking section where you can also eat. In summer it is also served outside. Decent portions. Will come again.

Wir haben das Restaurant, da unsere ursprünglichen Ziel war geschlossen, aber ich bin froh, dass wir das gemacht haben! Alle Mahlzeiten waren sehr gut und die Atmosphäre war sehr entspannt. Ein Schweizer Menü und sehr vernünftigen Preis für Basel!

Da fühlt frau sich willkommen. Gute Küche, freundliche Bedienung, vernünftige Preise. Die Wirtin hat alle Gäste persönlich begrüsst, was wir (meine Freundin und ich) grossartig gefunden haben. Kurzum: wir kommen wieder.

Die im St. Johann-Quartier seit Jahrzehnten etablierte „Gwatier-Beiz“ wird nun schon seit geraumer Zeit von der Familie Yildiz geführt. Wie überall in den Grossstädten, unterstehen auch Sie als einer der im Aussenquartier befindlichen Restaurationsbetriebe einem ganz speziellen Konkurrenzkampf. Dies ist auch noch innerhalb der Vogesenstube deutlich spürbar. Dennoch stimmt das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis als Ganzes! Das Familiäre Ambiente, macht zudem einige im Grundsatz nicht unwichtige Ungereimtheiten, absolut wieder wett. Gerne schlürfe ich als Gast, zusammen mit meinen Freunden, in dieser Lokalität ab und zu mal ein Feierabend-Bier!

Es ist ein rustikales Restaurant/ Kneipe. Der Nüssli Salat und die Leber haben sehr gut und frisch geschmeckt und hatten für Baseler Verhältnisse einen günstigen und gerechten Preis. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.
