Just fine! Swiss home-style cuisine - very tasty, large portions, very friendly service. Any time :-)

Rustic cosiness and the landlord is still a real original. A visit, especially with children, is always worth it.

Very nice staff and delicious food with rather large portions.

The car broke down on Thursday and asked if I could park over there until the towing service arrived. Restaurant was nice and friendly said no problem since it's going away today. Fa have a drink in the shade with the family and the dog. Very animal friendly water all ready for the animals. Beautifully clean and tidy, many places could follow this example.

I reserved two months in advance and everything worked out great. The service was very friendly and the food was great as usual (we had fondue chinoise). A tradition that we revived after a few years. There are also enough parking spaces and the toilets are in good condition. It was a pleasure :)

Fondue Chinoise is simply top. Very generous buffet. Service very friendly and prompt. Highly recommended for families.

I was certainly not here during prime time at 4:30 p.m., but I was served quickly and friendly. The Waldhaus offers down-to-earth Food at reasonable prices and obviously lots of action for kids in the summer. When it comes to dishes, I think there is still some room for improvement in this price segment. Making the fries a little crispier, lovingly frying the cordon bleu, which was obviously freshly prepared, and briefly tossing the vegetables in butter are small touches in the kitchen that would certainly improve the experience - especially since the main course was in the salamander for 15 minutes. With a little better coordination between kitchen and service, the proposed improvements would certainly be possible.

As a child it was still great and beautifully maintained, but today unfortunately the outside area has been neglected, the seat cushions and tablecloths are already showing wear and tear over the last 30 years, as is the smell...unfortunately the food wasn't good either, the bread was dry.The service was nice and tried hard but unfortunately it left a bad aftertaste. It's a shame about that...

It is the only restaurant that is close to the lake called Katzensee, it has a nice walk all around it, until you reach this restaurant, which has a large garden with several devices for the little ones and a car, which works by purchasing the cheton inside the restaurant . The food is nothing out of this world, as is its menu. But hey, to stop by, have something and have another snack, it's not bad.

It’s a great and fun place to sit in. The food is amazing with different kinds of dishes for everyone’s taste. I can relax and enjoy my ice cream which was also amazing while watching my kids play in the play ground. Too few staff in service drink coffee 70 people

This beautiful restaurant went out of its way to make my daughter’s wedding dinner one of the best experiences. The menu was thoughtfully drawn offering a wide variety of choices. The romantic table setting with flowers and candles added the charm to the beautiful evening. What can I say about the hosts!!! They are such wonderful and charming people who didn’t think twice before going out of their way to make us comfortable. We are so happy that our daughter’s big day was celebrated here with friends and family. We all enjoyed the delicacies and spent a lovely evening in an enchanting surrounding.

Just yesterday we had our wedding dinner at the restaurant and it was so beautiful and everything was perfect and the food was delicious too 😍

Large garden and a dream for smaller children. There is a train ride around the area and plenty of things to play with. We had ice cream, which was good. Although the toilet could have been cleaner. Cleanliness could generally be better. Therefore 2 stars deducted. But otherwise nice and well located near Katzensee.

Very good shrimp skewers and salad. Salad had a bit too much dressing. Service is a bit slower on crowded weekends. But attention is courteous. And the playground and train rides keep us and our toddler coming back for more!

Even though we arrived late - nice friendly welcome. The service and the food were excellent. Gladly again.

The salad dressing could have been better. I had barely started eating salad and the main menu came much too quickly. The cream schnitzel with noodles had too much oil in the sauce. Otherwise the food would have been good. The quantity was also too overwhelming.....all in all the chef would have to make this menu with me. Less is more. That means it would have needed a little more salt and pepper. Season better. I shared that I was a chef.

Beautiful place just needs a bit of renovation...good food, courteous and kind staff and owner always with a smile, I recommend it for families and no pets are allowed there is also a cigarette machine and then behind it there is the train and the lake, how wonderful

Again a great time at Waldhaus Katzensee, visiting our family actually! Had dinner there Friday and next day spent the afternoon there, ordered randomly (Tagesteller, desserts) while 2 groups (one seated outside, with music playing) kept the team on their toes! We'll return ASAP, Insh'Allah...

After many years, this week we stopped here again just to drink in the heat while passing through. We were horrified at how this once "beautiful" restaurant with the large terrace had fallen into disrepair. Everything seems dirty and unkempt. The stained and sweaty cushion covers on the garden chairs are particularly disgusting and unhygienic in the prevailing heat The fact that we had to wait a long time before we could finally order will not tempt us to ever come in here again. It's a shame, but you can obviously afford it given the location😰😰😰

You can always get something quick to eat here. Price performance is ok. Service good.

When I asked if I could have a drink here and then go swimming, my friend and I were turned away. It wouldn't work, we're not allowed to drink anything here! directly unsympathetic, dubious, bad impression before entering the front door!!!!

Service very nice. Essen 0815 Swiss (well-known???). Be honest, what do you even expect from this place? You get what you pay. Service is totally ok and what you and I don't like is just a matter of taste.

Unfortunately not as good as before... Please renovate the garden area. Had a lot of potential. Everything is run down. Really a shame for such a great location.

Sad!! I have known this restaurant with the formerly well-kept outdoor area and the large playground since my childhood. Now it's totally run down!! Unkept outdoor area with overflowing trash cans and rickety furniture. Even the menu is so sticky that you're reluctant to touch it. In addition, the prices are exorbitant and the The service staff can hardly speak any German. The food is bland and not fresh! My “salad” was a disgrace! Just a shame!!!!

I had a Texas burger and for 26.50 I thought I was getting something good, far from it. The meat, if you want to put it like that, was a frozen meat meal block, the kind you can buy at a discount store. The whole thing with a garlic mayonnaise simply without garlic, the coleslaw salad I can't even describe what that was supposed to be. No, not never, never, I will go to this store again.

Friendly staff and amazing playground. Down to earth offerings. (Could probably be transformed into a gold mine, but is totally fine as is.)

We sat in the garden. Unfortunately, the garden was no longer so beautifully prepared. It looked like summer was just coming. An awning was also broken and we had to sit in the hot sun to eat. The service was very friendly. The food was super delicious. We recommend bruschetta, tomato mozzarella salad, chicken with herb butter and vegetables. Good price performance.

I didn't know until now that you can cook a rösti with cheese and fried eggs in an unappetizing way. The fact is that I was able to eat a very out-of-tune meal for quite a bit of money and we noticed the poor service much less.

We have known the restaurant for 40 years and eat there regularly. Unfortunately, the garden is quite run down and is becoming more and more neglected. The service leaves a lot to be desired. The cutlery was simply placed on the table and you can then set it yourself. But the food is still delicious and plentiful.

It's a shame they closed at 10pm 🕙 😫

Prices are way above the European average. Is that reflected in the quality of the food? Unfortunately not. Portion sizes are good, but the food tastes utterly uninteresting. Just like something you would cook in a microwave. The good thing is that you can sit outside.

Unfortunately, when the weather was nice you couldn't sit in the shade, but a Sri Lankan waitress harshly told you to sit in the tent until it was full, not with us at 30 degrees, a shame.

Unfortunately everything is out of date. It would be nice if the tenants would put some effort into the area. New plants, renew the playground, etc.

We wanted to have a nice drink. The terrace was not crowded. We were made aware several times that we would like to order something. It was called “Wait”. The highlight was when the waitress 3 meters away from us had to smoke first! The tables were also dirty, sticky. After a wait of about 20 minutes. We left. Apparently they don't need it...

The food is disgusting, it's all ready-made products and really not edible. We had the hash browns with cheese. It was a lump with so much raclette cheese. The staff is rude and extremely unmotivated. The restaurant is outdated and unkempt. Never again!!!

We had lunch with our small family on a Sunday and we found the visit pleasant. We didn't have a reservation and still found a nice place. Unfortunately, we had the feeling that the staff were overwhelmed and we waited around 30-40 minutes for the food. Unfortunately we weren't impressed with the quality. But there is a big plus point for the playground, which is directly attached to the restaurant. The children had a lot of fun and the railway behind it is an insider tip.

We ate there with friends, it's cute for the children to play in, it's big but not clean. You can't eat the food properly. If I could, I wouldn't even give it one star because this meal ruined my entire hunger. I would never recommend it, not even to my archenemy. When we got dessert it looked horribly terrible, when they handed out the food they stuck their arms in our faces, even if that sounds outrageous, the dessert was also terrible, since I had a frappe I can say that it would be worth spending the money in McDonalds for three times less money.

Ambience is ok. Züri Geschnetzeltes was pre-cooked and warmed and didn't taste like anything. The meat was undetectable under the cream sauce. For what you pay, it should be freshly prepared. The prices are definitely too high for warmed food

Went there with 2 children and were ignored for 30 minutes. All the other guests around us were served three times during this time. When I said “sorry” again, the waiter yelled at me that he was stressed. Full house and few employees. Complaints were also not taken seriously. Unfortunately no longer recommended. IT WAS nice there.

Prices ok, ambience ok. After almost 20 minutes with two hungry children, we were served “very friendly”… even though the table occupancy was low. What a shame. A little attention from the waiters would make this restaurant very interesting

Was there with my kids, it was amazing.for the first time I managed to eat in a restaurant in peace coz my kids where playing at the playground which is right by the tables so I managed to have my eyes on them. The food was delicious and the weiters where very nice and helpful. For sure we will be coming back

Great food and wonderful service, I recommend getting the Texas burger, chicken wings, bruschetta, and we can’t forget their huge selection of ice cream’s for dessert. Over all a great visit perfect for everyone and surrounded with games for children and great view of nature (close to the forest and lake for walks)

The food was nothing special. I had a hamburger and the meat wasn't even warm. My friend had chicken wings with fries and the chicken was too dry and the fries weren't crispy.

Great hall for class reunions, food was served on time for 22 people, you had to look for the fish at the Fischknusperlis, the restaurant here closes at 10 p.m. and you are no longer served, which is not suitable for a festive occasion. Unfortunately we were ripped off when it came to the aperitif price.

We celebrated our birthday at the Waldhaus today and had a great afternoon. The children were able to let off steam in the huge playground and the steam train. We ate very well and received extremely friendly and warm service. We would love to come back and can only recommend the Waldhaus.

Inside, the ambience is old-fashioned but sufficient. Held in Swiss style. It's really beautiful outside in spring and summer. The food is always really very good, sometimes people just forget salt, oil, vinegar or even the chicken in the salad ;-) but after you say it again, it comes naturally. Service could be quicker if there were more guests. When it's not busy, the service is okay, but still very friendly and accommodating. The food is really very good! It's worth it every time. Update from the weekend of March 18, 2023. You can make a reservation on the restaurant's website. However, they don't take it seriously at all! Nothing was reserved for us. We were lucky to find a table outside!!! Very disappointing. Therefore another star deducted for the service.

Super fine food and service..rather higher price range..but worth it..

We were a group of 8 people. Wanted 2 tables next to each other, in the shade and not in the sun, because there were small children. Afterwards another employee came and said we should do it ourselves or leave straight away and the tables stay as they were. A huge impudence! If this unkempt, cheeky gentleman is actually the owner, then I'm really sorry.

Unfortunately there is nothing underneath!! A pure disaster.. I don't know why a restaurant like this can even survive in Zurich. I think it's just the location, because everything else sucks. A Swiss restaurant but no one can speak German including the owner!

Service was nice but very slow. Very practical with children, as there is a garden railway and a playground next door.

Chef Salad and Fitness Salad okay but could be better

Still looks like it did over 40 years ago. Kitchen has changed, is more contemporary but no less good. Price/performance is very good.
