Amazing hosts and amazing place to stay!

We were there three times from January 26th to 29th, 2024. Why? Because everything was just right. Good food, friendly service, fresh dishes, nice selection, price/performance ok. Gladly again!

Going to the toilet costs Chf 5.-- if you're not a guest!!! I don't know of any other restaurant in Zermatt where I have to pay to go to the toilet - be it Riffelalp-Resort, Adler Hitta, chez Vroni etc. Good source of income - very questionable, embarrassing and old-fashioned

The best accommodation on our 10 day tour. Very friendly welcome, very tasty hiker-friendly dinner and a super breakfast. Also really good mattresses. We slept well.

Best meal we had in Switzerland. Staff was friendly. Scenery was incredible. But the food was the best part. Recommendations are the homemade pasta, garden salad, and a crème puff dessert that was mind blowing. Stop here. Plan your lunch around it. It’s worth the hike

We stayed at Mountain Lodge Ze Seewjinu for 3 nights. To get there we walked from Riffelalp to the lodge within an hour. The path and the hotel offer a view of the Matterhorn and the surrounding mountains. You walk through forest and over stone. When we arrived at the lodge we were greeted by very friendly staff. In the evening the innkeepers asked again about our arrival. Unfortunately, I had an allergic reaction and the bed covers were washed again. In the morning there was a breakfast buffet. In the evening there were 3 courses, which were adapted according to intolerances, allergies and personal wishes (vegetarian, vegan). From the hotel you could start directly on the 5-Seenweg. We then spent the day hiking through the landscape, ended at Grünsee and were able to cool off briefly at around 30 degrees. This is about a 5-10 minute walk from the lodge. :) Thank you for a great vacation ☺️

Very nice place along the trail with an amazing hostess. The Food was delicious as well and they had lunch bags for our next trip. Overall a great experience.

I stayed at the lodge with my father for 1 night. Overnight stay in a double room with private bathroom. Half board. Great hosts, very friendly staff. Dinner was delicious. A nice atmosphere. We really liked it.

The inn is located between Breitenboden and Gant on slope 25. Very nice and fast service. Local dishes such as rösti or cheese slices but also meat can be found on the menu. The prices are very reasonable. A nice restaurant, probably recently renovated. Be sure to reserve in winter. The inn is on the shady side and is not very sunny, especially in December and January. We were now here in the summer too. Sunny now, of course. Service and food are still of the best quality.

A perfect place for a break 🥰 approximately halfway along the 5 lakes trail. Large terrace with a view of the Matterhorn, very nice and helpful staff. One of the best rosti I've ever eaten👍 It was a very good decision to stop there. I don't comment on prices - they are like everywhere in Switzerland 🙃

Isn't it really hard to die while trekking to the 5 Great Lakes of Sunnegga in Zermatt? The moment I did that (even though I am physically poor), a restaurant appeared in front of me haha. The staff were friendly and the weather was nice so we sat outside. I ordered rösti and beer and enjoyed it. There was no place to go to the bathroom while trekking, but it was nice to be able to go to the bathroom while using the restaurant. I think I had to pay to go to the bathroom instead of using the restaurant.

Very nice service, great location, nice ski bar. Tagliatelle were fresh and very tasty. Unfortunately only 5 pieces of chicken, hardly any vegetables and a sauce that took some getting used to. Overall too expensive.

I've never stayed in this hotel, but it's a GREAT location for skiing in and out. I have had lunch there several times and it's always 😊 delish, and perfect for a skiing day. Their fondue is wonderful, the selection of wine is great, and as always the perfect view. Reservations are needed specially if you want the view outside.

Lovely place to stop for a cheeky hot chocolate whilst skiing. And yes, it’s Zermatt prices.

The most wonderful mid-day skiing break I have ever had. Incredible mountains, lovely building, delicious food, friendly staff. Simply a flawless experience.

Google doesn't allow me to rate it as a restaurant and that's a shame... Formerly Grunsee, this restaurant has gained in range The service was PERFECT The very interesting menu with homemade dishes, from soup to main course to digestives!!! I highly recommend !

Actually, we should have just taken a break here, but I'm glad that we stayed overnight here after the short stage from the Fluhalpe... of course not without first sunbathing at Grünsee, 5 minutes away. So we enjoyed by far the best cuisine on our 10-day hiking tour. I still think about it today 🤤 Not only will I remember the exceptionally good food (unfortunately the photos can only convey this to a limited extent), but also the extremely warm, good-humoured people who welcomed us here ❤️ By the way, that's what it was still the cheapest accommodation on our tour along the European and Matterhorn Trail. A clear recommendation without reservation!!

Cool atmosphere, friendly service, thank you

I'm going to write a review from a different perspective, as a former worker, given that I have been working here during the last summer season. I think that understanding how Ze Sewjinu works from the inside can explain most of the nice reviews that the place has. The first I have to say is that the atmosphere inside is excellent. We work as a real team and it means that we help each other a lot. Besides the working conditions are really good. The place is one of the most beautiful places one can imagine to be working. Just the way from Sunnegga and back to Zermatt worths it a lot. It's reaaaally close to Grünsee, a beautiful lake where you can swim in summer (the water is really nice). And then if you want to stay there to spend the night, the rooms are super comfortable and prepared very carefully. Regarding to the food and the drinks, I have been having lunch there everyday and I have to say that it is awesome. Giuseppe, Simone and Alain make magic with their hands. And as you can see in the other reviews, the service personal is really nice. I'm sure that Rosi and Stephi will get a smile from you. Lastly, if you have the opportunity, you can talk to Kurt and ask him about his adventures as a guide at Matterhorn and even get his book signed where he explains many of them. It's always nice to know that a place has good food, but going there knowing that the workers are happy as well is always a plus. Thank you Stephi, Kurt and team for such an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended and inexpensive restaurant with a great sun terrace with a view of the Matterhorn! We were served very friendly and quickly. The Valais cholera was excellent.

Located in a privileged location but with difficult access: access is on foot or by bicycle. More than an hour from Sunnega and on the way up. Unless you find it doing the route of the 5 lakes in reverse, then you will find it on the way down. Very expensive prices. In part, it can be understood given the location but, I think, too expensive.

The inn is located along a long walk (5 Seenweg) and is therefore an ideal location to take a break. Twice already we have been denied access to the terrace if we only want to have a drink (although there are tables empty and who wants to eat at three o'clock in the afternoon!?). You either have to sit inside (no view, dark, uncomfortable, not practical with dogs), or you are referred to an improvised bar outside where no chairs or benches are available. Then we walked further to a location where you are welcome.

The former Grünsee restaurant is now called "Ze Seewjinu", which is Valais dialect and means "to the lakes". The former Hörnlihütten innkeepers have created an oasis where a visit is worthwhile again: friendly service, delicious food, a varied menu. We'll be back in winter.

My friend and I were mountain biking today and got lost in the wood. Under heavy rain, we were really despair, fearing that we may have to stay in the wild, encounter some serious danger. Luckily, their staff (Florian and his colleague) offered help to us. Florian guided us back to Zermatt. We were not experts in biking. Yet, he has instructed us patiently and carefully. After almost 2 hours of biking, we reached Zermatt safely. Words cannot express how grateful we are to Seewjin’s staff. We will always remember their selfless help under such a difficult situation. After the ride, we offered some cash as a gratitude but Florian insisted not to keep it. Despite we are not residents of the hotel, this place will definitely be written on our next literary to Switzerland. As a tourist, they have been very kind and helpful to us, and you can tell that they will excel even better as a service-oriented staff. The picture is Florian departing after bringing us back to Zermatt.

The Cremeschnitte is delicious and quite big, so the price is justified and it's Zermatt after all :) The restaurant itself is nice, the personnel is friendly and the Menu has some interesting dishes.

Great restaurant located at the bottom of a ski slopes. Easy to find and a good place to meet people. Coffee and food are excellent and the space inside is warm and airy.

We went there for dessert after skiing. The Sachertorte was freshly poured with warm chocolate icing, the service was super friendly, quick and responded to our (small) extra requests with a lot of sympathy.

We stopped in for lunch while skiing. My wife ordered the spinach soup. I ordered the salmon salad. Kids had spaghetti. Fantastic. Sat outdoors with Matterhorn in view. Service was excellent. We would visit again on our next trip. High recommend.

Great place for a good lunch. Great view and nice atmosphere. They serve great lunch options such as pasta’s, cheese sandwiches and burgers. I would really recommend to eat their carrot cake (rüeblitorte). Very fresh and tasty.

After a very long day of hiking, we were welcomed very warmly and provided with drinks very quickly. The lodge is harmoniously furnished inside and out. Great pictures in the guest room. The large warehouse has enough space. From the starter to the dessert, the food was extremely delicious, both in terms of taste and appearance. The entire hut team was also super nice and accommodating. We can only recommend the lodge.
