Great cult restaurant. Service could be better and more attentive. FR. 16.50 for an Aperol Spritz is probably no more!

The outdoor restaurant seems typical but a little advice is out of your way. The prices are exorbitant for what you get on your plate. The ketchup was expired.

Tasty place for simple food. Had the Raclette and it was solid. Prices are a little on the high side but it’s expected with the location.

Nice restaurant with a rustic atmosphere and very good, fast and friendly service. We had barely placed our order when our drinks arrived. We didn't wait long for the food either. It was very delicious. Prices are high, but that's what we were prepared for in downtown Basel.

We ate a salad with sausage which in the end was a simple frankfurter. 4 dishes cost us 80 euros. Pitiful salad full of mayonnaise.

CATASTROPHIC! I have never experienced such an unpleasant moment in my life! We arrived at 8:30 p.m. to a non-existent welcome from the waitress! Then we waited 40 minutes with a very dirty table to take our order only to be told in the end that it was no longer possible and that the kitchen was closed! It was totally lunar!

Deplorable, I've never seen that. Welcome already cold and unpleasant when we arrived. After waiting 30 minutes for the waitress to come take our order, we had to wait almost 20 more to get our drink served. At this point we asked for our table to be cleaned. The waitress finally came back another 10 minutes later to tell us that we could no longer eat because the kitchen had closed and of course without any embarrassment or word of apology. Furthermore, the prices seem overpriced: 33.- for a fondue + 8.- for potatoes + 7.5 for pickles, or 48.50 for a simple fondue. To be avoided at all costs, a real disaster.

We arrived with my colleagues at 8:30 p.m. the waitress places us on an uncleared table, we wait 25 minutes for the extremely unpleasant waitress to come and take our order, after another 25 minutes her colleague brings us the drinks, we ask her to kindly clean our table, this which he did really quickly... the waitress came back to see us 10 minutes later to tell us that the kitchen was closed... it's a big joke, being a chef I've never had this kind of experience, I strongly advise against going to this restaurant and the comments that I read afterwards confirm that this restaurant does not even deserve to have a single customer. If you pass advice, RUN AWAY

Fondue overpriced, 33 CHF for what was half a portion

I give one star only for the good location and decoration as a local place in Basel. However the service was bad. The waitress seemed to be annoyed because I asked questions about the drinks available and took some time to think about what to order. Slow and unfriendly service!

Really bad. To avoid. Two adults and a small kid. Ordered drinks and a fondue specifically without alcohol, for the kid to try it for the first time. The fondue came and it was with alcohol! The drinks didn’t came until after the fondue was on the table. For that the waiter had to be reminded twice! Same with the fondue forks. The waiter didn’t bring any and had to be asked for it. No plates were brought to the table. Really bad experience :(

Good but expensive Flammkuche..

First day in Basel, after many hours traveling, six of us sat down hoping for our first taste of traditional Swiss fare. The service was dreadful. Took forever to get drinks and water and we were NEVER able to place our food order! The waitress waited on many other tables while completely ignoring us. When I tried to get her attention she sneered and looked away. We finally said we were leaving and to bring us the check. THAT she appeared with immediately. Oh and 8 CFH (approx $8) for each bottle of water! Horrible experience and a terrible welcome to a beautiful city.

I don’t know why they couldn’t provide any birthday complement, even when I asked was told me unfriendly “no, nothing“ pity, cos otherwise my memory about this restaurant and rate would be much higher…

The tarte flambée was good but the service was deplorable, the first time in our lives that we were served food before drinks!

Catastrophic service, I have never seen that in my life. Every time I ordered a blond beer, the waitress brought me a white one and didn't want to change it for me..... In fact the waitresses choose for you what you are going to drink, funny concept!

Amazing Location. One of the best places to sit outside in basel and enjoy the weather. Really good traditional Cheese Fondue. Relaxed atmosphere.

Null! Tourist trap, 40 minutes for a flamkuche served cold because it was surely forgotten on the counter.

It's good, plentiful, ideally located with friendly service but the price is a bit exorbitant!

We waited 30 minutes until an old woman came. They snapped at us and made us wait another 20 minutes. Then we just left. Tables were dirty and it smelled miserable. Not recommended!!!!

We had to wait a very long time for what we got. One got their food 45 minutes earlier than the other. The food itself is not very special. Service left much to be desired.

We were in the garden restaurant, which is a bit cramped but still cozy. The service is friendly and accommodating. When you order the drinks you get a basket of chips. Very great gesture! The food is prepared 'à la carte'. It takes a bit of time. But it was excellent! The entrêcote was prepared as requested. We'd love to come back!

Be careful when paying with a card! Invoice Re No. 010'909'001 v. 07/22/23 time 1:10:21 pm CHF 60.00. I agreed to an additional tip of CHF 2.00, payment by Visa should be CHF 62.00. In fact, the waitress (older lady) entered CHF 20.00 into the device. So I paid CHF 80.00. What an impudence! Switzerland of today! Shame yourself!

Unfortunately, as in many other places, there were too few staff and therefore long waiting times, but the existing staff were friendly and supportive.

Good location. Unfortunately the service leaves a lot to be desired. There weren't many people there and we already had to wait 10 minutes before we could place our order. Unfortunately the service wasn't very friendly and we waited another 10 minutes for the drinks. I think it's a shame, especially since a beer costs 10 francs, which I find cheeky anyway.

We visited this restaurant as a family of eight with small children and a pregnant woman. The lady came over and poured lighter fluid on the fondue that was already lit! This exploded! My son had a high neck gilet on luckily but it burnt through the padding, my pregnant daughters coast also burnt and whilst checking everyone else was ok my leg was on fire! Burnt through my trousers and on a day trip so had the rest of the long day burnt with a hole in trousers my 8 year old son was so traumatised he had to be taken away by my elder daughter and was told it would be dealt with. I was given an email address and had a reply then nothing they have not reimbursed any losses and refused to give insurance details even after several times of asking. Do not visit! Very dangerous

Classic Swiss, good fondue. Decor is cosey and typical for the style of restaurant. (ubiquitous amounts of wood and panelling).

Quaint pub near Barfüsserplatz in beautiful Basel. A very nice outdoor area, especially in summer. Many regular guests come to visit here and the landlady is always up for a nice chat. However, the inside of the restaurant makes a somewhat untidy impression and the drink prices are also quite high.

A scam in Basel. The worst service imaginable and disproportionately expensive. Is it normal that after an hour and a half they only serve us drinks and everyone while they eat and finish? It must be that either you are local or they don't pay any attention to you. Regrettable

Terrible service. Asked for the food and more than an hour after had not been served. Everyone around us was served and had lunch. When requesting the waiter to come he would always tell us to wait. We ended up leaving without eating and they did not have a single courtesy gesture. Worst experience ever.

4 people for a very good cheese fondue but be very careful when ordering wine because they will push you and the water bottles are from the tap, with refillable caps and they charge you 8 CHF per bottle. A theft.

American Review 🇺🇸 - So I have been dreaming about the fondue that I got here ever since I had it. I don’t know why, but it was soooooo good. Their fries weren’t bad either. Smaller place, mostly outdoor seating from what I saw. We stopped here during the Christmas market (which was right next to it).

A touristy place in the best possible sense. This is the "Stube" to have all your traditional flammkuchen, cordon bleu, rösti, schnitzel, fondue. The super friendly, English speaking staff will take the best care of you. All that aside, it is overpriced even for Swiss standards, the quality of ingredients and the way of preparation (saw many burnt plates while there) just don't justify the price range. Lots of potential there if it won't be about quickly showing a glimpse of typical dishes to overseas tourists with the minimum effort from the kitchen.

Looked very appealing. But when we parked our bike briefly to discuss where we wanted to turn it on, a lady who was a guest shouted at us so badly that we lost interest. After looking at the good ones, we were unsure whether the place was made for us or not for the thirsty regulars who would scare away the customers and prefer to drink liters of beer in peace. Ordered flamkuchen veggie and it was very soft and juicy instead of thin and crispy. The service was good. Price relatively high.

A real disappointment! A real “tourist trap”… Despite the charming terrace and the friendly waiter, everything else is to be forgotten, really! Exorbitant prices compared to the poor dishes served.
