Via delle Scuole 1, 6900 Lugano, Switzerland, Ticino
This is a nice café / restaurant which is 10-minute walking distance from Parco Ciani but convenient for lunch if you plan to kill some time at Monte Bré. The food is rather fast and includes pizzas, burgers, etc. The personnel is very friendly and it does not seem crowded at all. We ended up here by chance. Of note, pizza is not Italian style but regular, so do not overexpect!
Nice but quite expensive.
Offer: Rice with 4 different cheeses was 26 francs. There was only rice on the plate. You didn't see any of the various types of cheese.
Salad dry, almost no sauce.
I ate at the Grotto Loverciano a few weeks ago at noon. I was very struck by the beauty of the place, rustic and welcoming at the same time. The staff introduced themselves kindly and the (interesting) dishes we tasted were particularly good. Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos that day.
Horribly bad service at 4 p.m. Even though there were hardly any guests there, we had to ask the waiter for a card after 15 minutes. He brought 2 wine lists 5 minutes later. So we couldn't choose anything to eat with it. When he was too lazy to ask us what we would like, we left after another 15 minutes.
Interesting that the owner apologized after my review. I had described the experience to him by email a week earlier. This wasn't of interest, I would have received the apology. This excuse is therefore not very credible.
Newly Renovated rooms and the couple taking care of the hotel is very kind, welcoming and genuine. The location is close to the train station which is an excellent base for different excursions in the area. The breakfast at the hotel is basic, my bedroom was not huge but it was very clean. I enjoyed the warm shower after my hikes. I find that the standard is good for the price you pay. The Village is also very remote however it is easily accessible to cities around with the train connections and buses
