A quiet, cute place. We drank something. But we found it very difficult. There is a passage from the street. It leads to a courtyard between apartment buildings. Don't wander around the back streets. A tunnel-like courtyard entrance from the main street. I didn't have time, but operators definitely need to make a how-to-get-here video for Google 😄

Charming hidden cafe near Marktplatz, ideal for coffee and small bites. Good atmosphere and friendly service.

I had dinner there with a friend on Saturday. Since I'm there regularly, I can see the deterioration in the offer. The small salad was actually much smaller than usual. There were other ingredients in it that I hadn't checked on the order. When asked, the service said it was a garnish that always comes with it. On the other hand, everyone around us didn't have this set. It wasn't as ordered, only iceberg lettuce in it, but mostly mixed. I think since the store was full they didn't have enough of it anymore. My friend received her burger. Plus fries without an order and without a note that these have to be paid for additionally. We thought that was part of the burger. Funnily enough, she also received 2 slices of bread. For burger bread??? They would most likely be intended for the salad for me. In any case, I think it's a shame because this restaurant was my favorite. Once someone from the kitchen really finished the service in front of the guests. Luckily, a service man was able to calm the situation quickly. The whole thing just reflects on the quality.

We were first time there. The Burger was very tasty. I orded a salad with my choice of ingredients. A waitress offered to add a salad leafs which i do not it. My understanding this was mandatory to choose. Also he asked the size of salad. I didnt know what the size of bowel look like there and randomly asked a big size. I was surprised how big my salad was with lots of leafs. I could not effort it and asked to take it away. After some time the waitress came and informed, they do not have boxes to take away. It almost full bowel of salad. I have previous experience when the staff informs that the plate is for one or two people to share. Be aware the big size of salad is really big and you could not take it with you. Shame to wast a food.

Was delicious. Attentive service. Gladly again.

Excellent sandwiches and I really like the option of making my own every time. Also the burgers are tasty as well. I was not very pleased hence the four star review with the deserts.

A different restaurant with salads, hamburgers and sandwiches. You choose the ingredients you want to add. DIY. The waiters are very friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. The sizes of the sandwiches and salads are generous. The burgers are more normal. A recommendable quality-price site.

Tucked away down a small alley from one of the main shopping streets, this place is not easy to find, but well worth doing so. The historic courtyard is an oasis of peace, the service is very friendly and helpful and the system of picking the salad ingredients you want works well. Portions are large and the food and drinks are good quality and good value by Basel standards.

I think it's great that you can put together your own sandwich, salad and burger! A little bit of sauce in the salad. :)

Great restaurant & coffee in the heart of Basel. Small menu with good dishes and home-brewed beer. I can only recommend it’s worth a visit.

The service is very friendly, the place is beautiful and the food is delicious. I would definitely eat here again! If you want to eat outside, you should make a reservation. When we arrived at 12 p.m., all tables were occupied.

Just had lunch here in a group of 12. Delicious burgers and salad. Friendly service. Highly recommended. A little hard to find, look for a passageway between the shops.

We enjoyed staying at 1777 for a birthday lunch. From young to old, everyone found the food they liked. The employees are very friendly, attentive and courteous. The person celebrating their birthday received cake for dessert from the employees 🎂🤩🤗

However charging 1chf per glass of tap water is a bit too much: charging once is OK, but we had a second round of tap water and were charged each 1chf again :( ...

As a guest you will be pampered here. Whether for a meal or simply a drink, the staff greets you very friendly and is very attentive. They even ran after us when we forgot our hat. Of course there are even more sympathy points. Wonderful😍

This place is too cool. In a small courtyard. Hidden gem in the middle of the city. English menus and waitresses sheesh perfectly. Food was perfect.

I visited around 6pm on a Saturday evening. Located in the space between two streets, it would be a good option if you want a quiet and private space in the busy city of Basel. If you eat a burger, fries, and beer, it costs about 30 francs or 45,000 won in Korean currency. (Estimated price for two people is 60 francs and 90,000 won) The advantage is, It is a popular place in the local area as it is fully booked including reserved seats as of 6 o'clock, and the staff is friendly. (English menu available The downside is, Burgers are on sale for 12 francs if you walk 5 minutes, so the price can be said to be a bit expensive.

A charming place in Basel in an interior courtyard.. We chose a mixed salad from which we selected the ingredients. Quality certainly but very expensive for a simple salad. Conclusion: nice for the decor but uninteresting for the culinary aspect.

Absolutely wonderful meal. I had the salsiccia patty with my burger, and the whole meal tasted fresh, juicy, and well put together. Portion was quite reasonable for Switzerland, and the slightly hidden location means you can enjoy your meal in a relaxing ambiance.

We arrived by chance and we really liked their gastronomic approach. Next to the Town Hall, it is an ideal place to stop and make a break during your visit to Basel.

A quiet place, in a paved courtyard full of charm in summer. Pleasant staff, good burgers. Prices, however, are a little high (count 30-32 CHF for a burger, fries and drink menu), but in line with other restaurants in the area.

Since this restaurant opened, I have been going there again and again and have always received exceptionally friendly service. The food, the house iced tea and the coffee always taste great. It is well attended, which speaks for the quality and coziness. It's worth making a reservation.

The drinks are delicious, the food is tasty and the location is beautiful. The staff is sometimes careless. You are ignored for a long time and the empty glasses on the table are ignored.

Have been to 1777 a few times and so far it has always been satisfactory, but the last visit, February 19th, was by far the worst. The drinks were not up to the standard we were used to from 1777. In addition, the service was subpar. Not careful, not polite, just bad. And at such prices. Very disappointing as we otherwise enjoyed staying at the 1777.

I had the worst experience today. I ordered for my 6yrs old son a chicken burger that they delivered half cooked... this is so unacceptable and something that never happened to me before! Especially with chicken...they need to be more meticulous in the kitchen I am afraid and much more customer centric with dissapointed customers ...

Chicken hamburger is delicious but again french frites have to be ordered separately and extra charges for herbs or cheese on the frites will be counted too. Staff are really nice and helpful. Nice ambiance too. And the waitress explained to us why the name 1777, because the state library next to the restaurant was founded in 1777.
