We visited this restaurant for the first time and were thrilled with the food. A Thai dish with beef, wonderfully tender, beautifully spicy. There we go again. The service was friendly and good, a little under pressure due to the unexpected number of guests. Highly recommended!

Overall decent restaurant. The cuisine is of a good standard but the staff leaves something to be desired (unsmiling and unwelcoming) Quite mediocre results!

On Tue. November 14th I sat down here for coffee and cake outside on the piazza. The sunny weather was magnificent. The torta di nonna was excellent and the coffee was aromatic. The service was also okay.

Great ambience with good food. Staff very friendly and accommodating. ...all of this to us at the end of what was certainly a very tough season. It was the middle of October. The pricing of the card is also reasonable and not outrageous. Ultimately you are sitting in Ascona. You can't get any closer to the lake. What more do you want.

Very fine food, lasagna, pizza, game and burgers are recommended. The staff is friendly. The atmosphere is pleasant.

Super delicious food. I had pasta and my sister had pizza. Bruschetta as a starter. We enjoyed it very much. We had a table right by the water. Service was very friendly.

The salad was unwashed. There was no response to our request. Not even an apology! Bruschetta was totally over salted!

The food is sensational. The staff is friendly and everything is clean. The only downside is that the chairs on the terrace by the lake are not particularly comfortable. But we'll definitely come back.

We have been here several times now. Unfortunately the pizza has deteriorated a lot and is no longer recommended. Service still very friendly. House wine unfortunately overpriced (almost twice as much as usual). We probably won't come anymore.

Have already visited a few restaurants in Ascona and this restaurant was very good. I'm surprised that the restaurant only has 4 stars. The Esseb was really tasty and the salad too. The service was the friendliest we have had here in Ascona so far. Ambiance is very elegant and beautiful. Definitely a recommendation from us. Price performance fits.

A good performance at lunchtime and also in the middle of the peak season. Here in the best location - right next to the ship station - you will be warmly welcomed and seated. The service is also friendly and works quickly. We decided on a cold dish for lunch. It was tasty, fresh and beautifully presented. The portion was rather large. In general, a great performance for this location and the flow of guests. Gladly again.

Very nice restaurant right on the lake promenade in Ascona. We ordered pasta and the food was delicious! Feliciano's service was also extremely attentive and pleasant. Certainly worth a visit!

It is completely unacceptable to have plastic napkins instead of paper napkins. These horrible polyester napkins don't absorb and are not good for the environment because they are not biodegradable. Who in their right mind could have made such a poor decision? Avoid this place. I'll check back in a few months to see if those awful polyester napkins have been replaced.

I ate spaghetti carbonara, which was literally swimming in sauce, it looked like soup. Terrible and too greasy

This place is amazing! I had the burrata pugliese and I loved it! Every detail of it was perfect. The cheese itself, the ham and the fried pieces were made to Perfektion! It is a bit expensive tho, but the location near the lake and the food make up for it.

Food not bad, service not bad. Maybe I was just not lucky that day with this restaurant.

Nice located restaurant. Had an early dinner @ 5:30 pm. Staff was attentive. The food was very tasty. Brasato with Polenta and Ossobuco with Safranrisotto.

When we got off the ship and waited for the next connection, we naturally invited ourselves to have a quick drink right next to the jetty, now that the restaurants can serve almost the water. The service was really extremely friendly and very accommodating and everything we ordered was delivered straight away so that we didn't miss the connection. It's nice that there are still people in service who adapt to their guests and do exactly what they want - really exemplary!

After we were seated and after more than 25 minutes we weren't even asked what we would like to drink, we left the store. The rating does not refer to the food (we cannot rate it) but only to the poor service.

The Ristorante Al Piazza is comfortably furnished inside and has a large terrace; In the evening there are even lamps on the tables. The food tastes good. When I ate there, the starter was rather large. The main course, risotto, was cleverly prepared and is highly recommended. The service is attentive and polite.

A very nice restaurant. I can highly recommend pizza and the braised beef with polenta was simply delicious. Our waiter, Feliciano, looked after us very well. We'd love to come back.

Fast service, a restaurant in high demand by tourists but the team is efficient. The caramelized ribs, Steak Angus, Mota burger and desert are very good. Fair price and top lake view location.

Very cozy and delicious dinner. My personal highlight was the homemade tiramisu.

After a long search and wait, we finally found a free spot on the crowded promenade. When we wanted to move into it and were almost seated, a waiter came to us and said it was already occupied, even though you can't reserve the tables and we were clearly the first ones.

Unfortunately we had a very poor service experience at this restaurant. We needed to wait forever just to be able to make our order… The staff should be trained better by someone that understands how to treat costumers!

We had to wait 40 minutes for our eater because the waitress simply forgot to place the order. No apology, just nothing. The minestrone was so scalding hot that after waiting what felt like an eternity, you burned your tongue on it. Incredibly rude and incompetent.

The food is of rather average quality. The prices are probably based more on the attractive location. Actually a nice restaurant right on the promenade (view of the lake), with prompt service, but it doesn't stand out from the other restaurants.

Despite only staying in Ascona for two days, we went to the Restuarant al Piazza twice. The service was very attentive and courteous and also looked after our daughter's well-being. The food was to die for and the prices were very fair. I can't understand the bad reviews at all, we were completely satisfied and would happily recommend the restaurant.

The waiter realized that I was a foreigner and was extremely rude. I hadn't finished looking at the menu and he took it out of my hand, when we asked for the bill he ignored us several times and we waited around 30 minutes in the sun for him to bring the card machine.

Food was OK to good. However, the service was terrible. Very unfriendly, doesn't listen, practically throws everything at you. We didn't feel comfortable at all and would never eat here again.

January 7, 2023, 5.30 pm I entered this place to drink something hot, mint herbal tea recommended by the owner/waiter (I don't actually know). He was kind in giving me the wifi password and giving me the information I needed. Let's just say that he could smile more at the customer, hospitality is fundamental in any type of relationship

We were here for New Year's Eve dinner and the food was fantastic. The service from Carlos was attentive and very friendly - one of the best catering services in recent years. Grazie tanto.

I don’t know what these negative reviews are about! We went there for lunch and dinner in the same day. Food was excellent, especially the truffle pizza. Service was great, especially at night when they were less busy, the waiter was so sweet with my toddler. Definitely recommend!

Beautiful place right on the lake, but the food was a disaster! Bruschetti with zero taste Salad zero sauce, homemade with oil/vinegar/salt/pepper Penne alla'rabiata watery and almost no flavor Lasagna was still frozen! NEVER AGAIN

Nice place on the banks of Lake Maggiore, we ate in the afternoon, the menu is limited after a certain time but with a wide choice. A little disappointed with the pizza.... oily and a topping that leaves something to be desired, lack of meat and mushrooms which don't seem fresh, positive point: we could smell the truffle cream! Sorry the photo is yellow because we were under the yellow umbrellas.

My wife, son (4 years) and I wanted to have a leisurely dinner here. The restaurant was full on the lake front and we waited for a seat. When something became available we got the table and our son (4 years old) got a baby high chair. After I said he couldn't use it because it was too big, he just said there was no other chair. Apparently they wanted to reserve the right chairs only for fully paying adults and thus earn more. My son then sat on my lap the entire dinner even though there were always chairs available. It's a shame, the food was good but that's not how you treat guests.

Do you want to eat really well? Then go somewhere else!! A calzone from the afternoon menu. The ingredients were not drained sufficiently, so they simmered and swam in a liquid. Maybe something for toothless people, I prefer it crispy. My wife had gnocchi with pesto. M.E. from the microwave. The basil pesto is quite bitter, so one suspects that arugula was mixed in. Plus everything was swimming in oil. Nobody asked whether we were satisfied or whether it tasted good. Check in, collect and move on. Even if it wasn't dinner time yet, you have to ensure quality. Typical "tourist shack". It's a shame, because it's visually very appealing. More could be done with this. Then everything would definitely be full.

Great location by the lake. Seating by the lake, separated by the promenade. If you sit by the lake and not in the restaurant you can see that 1 green rag is used the whole time to clean the tables and documents. Often the documents are just shaken out and the table is cleaned with the same cloth that is never washed out. Disgusting and unhygienic. There is no water point at the lakeside seating. So 1 rag is needed for everything. Nothing learned from Corona. Above all, you sit under the trees where there are birds everywhere. The food is delicious, even if you pay around 20% extra to sit by the lake.

Because we moved twice for hygienic reasons with the neighbor who was coughing all over Time and for the smoke, a waiter approached us rudely with aggression and unprofessionalism. At which point, after expressing our disappointment, the manager rightly apologized to us, at most asking what we wanted to drink. At the time of the bill the drinks were accounted for and we again had to bring this to their attention and the waiter in question never expressed his apologies. The food was good but the service leaves something to be desired!
