Our evening at the Baracca was very nice. My wife and I were seated at a table for two. Admittedly, there wasn't much free space on the table. But it was enough for my wife to still be able to place her glasses. It was a bit cozy, but also very comfortable. From the moment we arrived we were very attentively shown to our table by our waitress (even though we were 15 minutes early) and from then on we were served very well and quickly. The vegetable soup was on the table very quickly and very tasty. Since we were very hungry, that was a plus. Afterwards there was the Nüsslisalat with egg, bacon and croutons. Salad dressing wasn't too much but not too little either, just right. The size of the salad was also perfect. We both ordered the Fondue Chinoise. In our opinion, the first portion of meat was quite large and varied (there was veal, beef and pork on one platter and a separate platter with poultry) and a platter with fried potatoes and various vegetables. There was also another plate with different sauces, all of which were very tasty. What can I say, after two plates of meat, side dishes and sauces we were full and very satisfied. There was just enough room for a small dessert. All in all a great evening. The only thing I find a bit steep is 10 francs for a liter of mineral water. Nevertheless, there was a generous tip for our waitress. We will come back in any case!

Thursday, February 15, 2024 I had dinner with the same friends again. We had the fondue 🫕 menu a discretion. The welcome was included and kept to the minimum. The atmosphere with the fire and the decorations was cozy. The starters and dessert were delicious. We didn't like the fondues this time. They were bland and the special ones were very thin. I can't say what that is about. We eat a lot of fondue because we love it. What I personally don't find ideal is that if you have a menu price of almost CHF 70.00, you then had to pay extra for the fondue. Without alcohol and coffee, we came to a proud price per person of over CHF 80.00 ————————————- Thursday, February 3rd, 2022 I was eating at Baracca Zermatt with three friends So from start to finish I was really impressed. I would like to highlight the following points; - The service employee who served the entire restaurant with his friendly, courteous and competent manner. - From the soup to the various fondue 🫕 to the dessert, everything was prepared without any frills and was very tasty. - Finally, the decoration, the ambience and the price contributed to a cozy and beautiful evening. As part of a business lunch there. Wasn't served for a long time...because I was initially sitting alone at a table. It was only when other colleagues sat there that I was noticed. The fondue was good... although not outstanding. The ambience itself is very nice, but not big enough for a crowd as large as that evening.

The atmosphere in the Baracca is uniquely beautiful! But I don't think it's good that you can only get the cheese fondue with a 3-course menu. After all, I come here for the fondue and not for the soup, salad, etc. The menu per person is expensive, although you can have cheese fondue at your discretion. It's just that you don't like much after the starters. In that sense, bad concept. The spaces are very tight. However, the fondue tasted very good.

Seating is far too tight and there is no space at the table for everything, a bit of a disaster: Food was good but as I said the seating was too tight and the chalet was too cold. The menu is crumpled and stained, but please make new ones. Won't come anymore.

The waitress was courteous, friendly and strong, as she picked up and brought the dishes between the tables with her arms outstretched. We ate here and I was more than disappointed. We ordered a Fondue Chinoise a Discretion for 79CHF per person. The starter was a Nüssli salad which was about three forkfuls of lettuce. Then the whole table is filled with vegetables. The plate of meat is very small and very poorly stocked. When we asked for new meat we had to wait 10 to 15 minutes. The dessert sat on the counter for almost 10 minutes before it was served, so the ice cream was almost melted. We also had to mention several times that several of us still didn't have spoons to eat the dessert. But the big deal was paying. When we told the waitress that we would like to pay separately and that the bill had to be split, the waitress told us to split it ourselves and calculate what everyone had to pay. When we are finished we should contact you again. Rarely experienced such poor service. This was our first and last time in the Baracca

Basically a great idea, but unfortunately I found the Christmas dinner menu and ambience to be at best okay because 1.) relatively expensive for the small portions (which you can always reorder, even if that means a bit of effort because of the service staff has a hell of a lot of stress) 2.) way too loud in there, a conversation is almost impossible because 3.) every centimeter of space is used so that there is room for as many people as possible, à la Easyjet #VeryNarrowSeatRows seating. If you're sitting somewhere "at the back" and want to get out, you've drawn the Ar... card, because then everyone else has to get up too, sometimes even from the other tables. Conclusion: good idea, but implementation needs optimization.

Unfortunately the seats are too narrow. For raclette, each person only had one plate. The raclette device consists of a candle holder and six tea lights. It took forever for the cheese to melt. The salad felt like it was a bit of lamb's lettuce with hardly any sauce. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant. The price-performance ratio is not right.

Very good service, a great ambience in mountain house style, very tasty fondues in different variations. In a flat rate there was a great vegetable soup as a greeting from the kitchen (surprise), then the meat platter or nut salad ordered as a starter, followed by the fondue with second helpings (if desired) and a dessert of your choice was also included in the price😋. All in all a fair price-listing ratio and highly recommended 😃👍🏻

Fondue, Fondue, Fondue! Great atmosphere to enjoy as a large group. Reserve well in advance. A few Fondue flavours to choose from. However, the classic is always best. Service is terrific. So far good, only the tight space (sometimes table legs between the legs and uncomfortable to sit: "crammed together") and the service (although friendly, but 'forgetful' or overwhelmed by correspondingly reduced personnel planning?) left something to be desired... Possibly organize smaller caquelons (for 1 to max. 2 people) so that the corresponding menu order (which was made accurately in advance) works and you are not forced to eat another fondue, what you didn't actually order... there is still room for improvement in the implementation/planning (especially with a larger company and the high prices).... The camera was great and funny... Despite everything, we had a lovely evening...

The atmosphere at Barracca is very nice. You feel like you are in a cozy mountain hut. The fact that there are 4 menus to choose from, which cannot be changed or chosen, shows that it is very geared towards business occasions. There is quite a lot of food before the actual main course, which is a discretion. We had traditional fondue and one with truffles (+10CHF). Both taste excellent. From our point of view, the soup and salad could be left out beforehand or added as needed. The dessert was really good, the Ovo ice cream is highly recommended. The Barracca is ideal for a business event. It is important to reserve early as it fills up very quickly.

Lovely decor for such a warm and cozy Baracca. You forget you’re in Basel and instead feel as if in a wooden cottage in the Alps. Raclette comes in different tastes with potatoes and pickles! Very yummy. The pumpkin soup, lamb’s salad and the dessert are also delicious! Expect to have a cheesy smell at the end of your visit :D

The three of us celebrated my birthday and really enjoyed the evening. There are three menus and we chose the raclette. The menu consists of soup, salad, various raclette with potatoes and pickled vegetables. Then one of three desserts at a fair price. The decor is very rustic and cozy, but the noise level is a little higher when the restaurant is fully booked. We'd love to come again.

However, the "a desire" service is not a good idea for women or anyone who doesn't have a big appetite. After the first course, salad with a very creamy dressing, we were only hungry for a portion of fondue. For CHF 65.00, that's not a good price -Value for money. Had I known about this "discretion menu" I wouldn't have gone and won't be back. I was at Baracca Zermatt two weeks ago. I don't understand the many positive reviews. The starter salad was probably completely unwashed, it was sandy with every bite. Afterwards we had raclette. The cheese was good and was always brought later (that's why the 2 stars), but apart from mixed pickles there were no toppings of any kind, even when asked. You can heat the raclette on the table with 3 tea lights. Then asking 65 CHF for the cheese and a dirty salad... well. I would have liked to have written more positive things.

We went to Baracca Zermatt for the first time 3 years ago. We were very keen. So much so that we wanted to go back this year. The ambience is great, the service is very courteous and friendly. The starter, the salad, was unfortunately a bit sandy. The taste was very tasty, but you had to chew carefully. The fondue was disappointing. Not at all comparable to a few years ago. Since we wanted to try things out, we always ordered small quantities, but a full caquelon always came. When we raised this we were told that the chef could not portion correctly. So we only tried 2 types. In terms of taste, the variants were not outstanding and were boring, completely different from last time. We won't go there anymore. Very unfortunate.

Wir waren im Februar im Baracca Zermatt, tolles Ambiente und einfach mega leckere Fondue in verschiedenen Variationen. Ab 1.11.2020 trotz Corona ein bisschen Zermatt in Basel. Simon Lutz weiss wie man seine Gäste verwöhnt und hat bestimmt dieses Jahr die Baracca unter den Besten Sicherheitsvorkehrungen ab 1.11. wieder geöffnet. Wir freuen uns.

Actually tastes quite good. But I would have liked to know from the operator how much waste of meat and other foods, such as potatoes, is generated per day. We found the portions far too large and saw several tables with a lot of food left over. In my opinion, you should offer smaller portions, especially of meat, and if necessary you can order more anyway. We couldn't take the potatoes home with us either. According to staff, the meat is either given to a farmer for his pigs or thrown away. There is still a lot that can be improved when it comes to sustainability. In this day and age, as we have seen, it cannot be worn with a clear conscience, hence only 2 stars. I would have otherwise given it 4 stars purely based on the taste. With the request for some transparency on the topic here for all customers.

The service is simply unbeatable. Totally nice, courteous and professional. The cheese fondue is amazing. If you want to eat good Swiss cheese fondue, you have to go here. The hut is totally homely and great. For 65.- you have a great 3 course menu without drinking, everything is top quality. The white wine was also great (1dl 7.-) and the Aperol Spritz was perfect. Y esta experiencia está definida en gran medida por Fondue. Una gran porción de fondue.Es un restaurante de tamaño medio, diseñado como un chalet (suizo) que encontraría en las montañas. De ahí el nombre claramente asociable. El lugar en sí tiene un buen ambiente, principalmente gracias a la chimenea en el centro, junto con la mayoría de los elementos de madera. En sí mismo, esto ya puede dar una razón para visitarlo si está buscando un lugar romántico para cenar.A diferencia de algunas de las críticas anteriores, también encontramos que el servicio es profesional, rápido y amigable. Absolutamente no hay problemas allí.Ahora a la comida. En cuanto a la comida, tampoco hay absolutamente ningún problema con Baracca Zermatt. Sirven grandes cantidades de casi todos los platos, especialmente el plato principal, que es una variante seleccionada de fondue. La cantidad de queso es muy buena con porciones prácticamente ilimitadas de pan y papa, que para aquellos que no saben, se utiliza para recoger el queso. The Beefs pride themselves on seeking out authentic culinary experiences. Of course, when one is in Basel in December, one absolutely must ensure to have already booked 1 year in advance to get a table... yeah. Book early, or go hungry. That's the motto at Castle Beef.The fondue is simply amazing - but do avoid the "Schabziger" fondue; the herbs are too overwhelming. Morchel (truffle) fondue is the absolute KING. You can have a meat/cheese/savoury board to start, and save room for dessert, as there's usually some sort of Mousse au Chocolat on the menu.The decor is beautiful Swiss Berghuette / Stuebli-maessig, with a charming wood fire hearth in the middle of the cabin. HOWEVER! Do *not* wrap up too warm, despite the brass-monkey weather outside. Your core temperature will go through the roof, and you might melt into the fondue.... Poor Mrs Beef was glowing like a little ember, love her.Park in the Elisabethan Parkhaus in Heuwaage, and walk along the canal to the location. Either that, or Park at the Zoo/Zolli - but I cannot say whether that Parkhaus is open after hours.The Beefs approve of Baracca Zermatt.

Lugar donde se come estupendamente bien, el trato es muy agradable y el decorado muy chulo (al estilo cabaña de bosque de algun cazador). El problema, es que los precios son bastante elevados, y comer o cenar se te puede ir a los 60/70 € por cabeza.

Gemütliches schönes Ambiente, aber das wars auch schon. Wir hatten das Fondue Chinoise bestellt. Man kann zwischen Käsfondue oder Chinoise wählen. Beide im gleichen Preisegment. CHF 79 für Chinoise. Vorweg gibt es Suppe oder Nüsslisalat. Klar als Magenfüller. Die Fleischstücke sind dünn und klein. Keine Beilagenauswahl. Es gibt nur Schalenkartoffeln und Gemüse dazu. Klar die gleiche Beilagen wie beim Käsefondue. Keine Gürgchen, keine Silberzwiebeln, keine Pommes oder Chips, kein Reis. Schalenkartoffeln passen meiner Ansicht nach nicht zum Chinoise. Es gibt keine Fondueteller. Man hat auf dem Teller ein Gemisch mit den Saucen, Kartoffeln und Fleisch. Es werden auch keine Ablagteller fürs rohe Fleisch gereicht. Der Service ist ungenügend. Sie kommen sporadisch vorbei um aufzufüllen. Fazit ich würde nicht mehr hingehen. Prei-Leistung stimmt nicht. Völlig überrissene Preise. Man kann in Basel günstiger und besser Fondue Chinoise essen als im Barraca Zermatt.

Nice atmosphere but very high noise level. You shouldn't necessarily sit down with 20 people if you would like a little more space. You sit very tightly. However, it is very nice for two. Food is very good, but it also has its price. As a highlight once a month I would treat myself to an evening there.

Very nice log cabin style atmosphere. There is fondue à discretion. Even though it was fully booked, the staff always remained attentive and friendly. Only recommended. Only the noise level was sometimes unpleasant.

Der Service war freundlich, aber ziemlich chaotisch organisiert. Der Nüsslisalat als Vorspeise war ungewaschen und die Salatsauce war langweilig. Das Fondue hingegen war wirklich gut. Würzig und einfach gut! Das Ende war leider so wie der Start. Das Dessert kann weggelassen werden. Schokolade Creme / Mousse mit undefinierbarem Inhalt. Schade!

Sehr gemütlich ist Restaurant. im Stil einer Alpen Hütte. Netter Atmosphäre. Das Fondue (wir hatten eine Mischung aus Fleisch und Käsefondue) war sehr lecker, Salat vorweg, eine Vielzahl an hausgemachten Saucen. Guter, Schweizer Wein. Punktabzug gibt es nur wegen des doch durchaus hohen Preises.

Essen grundsätzlich wie gehabt sehr gut und wunderbare Atmosphäre. Die beiden Fondue Kräuter und Steinpilz erinnerten aber leider eher an Barilla- resp. Knorr-Saucen.

We were there for the Christmas party. Cozy mountain hut atmosphere. Big fireplace. However, another 150 guests are celebrating there. It's noisy. The meat was okay. The cheese fondue too. You could also have gluten-free. The price-performance ratio was really too expensive for me. Food plus wine easily CHF 100.

Ein kurzer Ausflug in die Schweizer Bergwelten mitten in Basel: das verspricht das Restaurant und hält das auch vorzüglich ein. Das Ambiente ist toll, das Essen sehr lecker, der Service zuvorkommend. Der Preis ist allerdings etwas zu hoch für das Gebotene.
