Great location, by the bank of lucern river, view to the wooden bridge and ancient church The food was good, Fondue great So crowded, you can hardly find a table outside, maybe because it was a weekend Service was not bad considering the full occupancy and it is a big place Recommended to try

Delicious and fresh food and drinks, pleasant atmosphere, especially on the river bank, it’s very calm and romantic to drink a glass of wine. The service is good. Once you go to the toilet, it's like a museum.

Popped in for lunch as they do Raclette and pork Schnitzel. Service was great and the staff were very friendly. The food was piping hot and delicious too. A great restaurant in a prime location. Two mains and two coke zeros came to 72Chf which is fine for such a nice location.

The place is spectacular, the waiters... not so much and neither is the food. The food was late, they brought it wrong, they closed the kitchen to us and we are talking about eating well in this place and it costs 45 CFH per person. I went on January 2nd and I can understand that the restaurant needed equipment, but that is no excuse for filling it up and providing terrible service. Oh, the waiters also woke up a little upset that day. They offer you blankets and if you go during the day you can enjoy a spectacular view.

Over charged us knowing we are tourists. Don't go here if you’re not from here- they will rip you off.

We were only there for dessert. Instead of warm chocolate cake we got chocolate ice cream. The apple strudel was something with apple but far from a strudel. We got the wrong wine. The conditions were a bit overwhelming but always very nice and helpful. She kept apologizing for the mistakes. Since we were guests in the evening and sat inside, I can't say much about the ambience at the lake. Inside it's a normal bar. Nothing special.

Terrible service. I came with my friend got seated on a small table for 2 and when the young man came to us to take the order we asked for a fondue and he said “for 2?” we say no we’d like to order a portion for 1 person & share he said we can only order for 2 cause we are to people. Then behind us there was a lady eating a fondue for 1 person we asked why she was able to order it what’s the reason, he just kept repeating that we can only order 440grams no exceptions. So we ended up leaving. Cause i don’t really want to support a place that only cares about ‘milking’ people for money & treats the customer with 0 respect. Friendly advice there are much better restaurants down the street that offer cheese fondue and will allow you to order any portion size to avoid food waste 😊

Terrible attendance ! We asked for a table by the lake. No one told us it was just for dinner, we ordered our drinks, we told the waiter at dinner just drinks... then a rude person came, maybe a manager, to ask about dinner, we told him to add drinks, he said he couldn't... I informed him that no one I had said and asked for the bill. Before finishing our drink, the same person came to say that he needed the table... I said that we were finishing and we would leave.. in our time as no one had said before.. he said that the restaurant was his and he made the rules, rude, thick ! Don't stay there!

Friendly staff when we arrived. Stunning view. Once seated and ordered, the waiters were not present but would arrive if called. Ordered salad and fondue. The first one was good even if it's difficult to make a salad badly. Fondue: deserves a 3 because it lacked a touch of white wine and was very bland. I've had better fondues. And the potatoes were lukewarm to cold. The bill arrived quickly. After collecting the fondue plates, no one asked us if we wanted dessert or coffee.

"Zum Trinken oder Zum Essen???" I hate when I hear this. Why are you so money hunger when it comes about enjoying a nice view of the lake by someone? At least instruct your waiters to say: No, only zum e$$en! before making people sit at the table and then when "big patron (actually quite small in height)" comes we have to stand up and leave, it's embarassing. And anyway who would eat anything in an exepensive swiss restaurant? The swiss cuisine is cr4p and most of the restaurants are italian wannabee's with wannabee italian pizza or pasta. I prefer to starve then paying 40-50 CHF per person for a medium meh menu Edit: thanks for the german reply. Yes, it’s my personal choice to not eat in swiss restaurants and especially avoid tourist traps like yours :)

Quickly sit and chill out at a cafe outside. Yes.

Started off great, got seated right by the water, waiter spoke some English. However, once we got our food it was like we didn’t exist. The fondue we got was very delicious I will say! What I was most frustrated about was I asked multiple different hosts/waiters for more tap water, we paid our bill (noticing they charged us twice for 4 Swiss franc for 8dL of water) even though we never got the second water we had asked for. The waiter assured us it was coming when we questioned the bill- sat there another 10 minutes no water. Finally just left. Ridiculous. Paid 4 Swiss franc for no water and poor service.

We spent the day in Lucerne and wanted to grab a bite to eat before heading out on this beautiful summer evening. We were placed on the terrace along the Réussi and enjoyed a very good cheese fondue and were very well served by Rita :-) A very good moment. Ps: the toilets are worth seeing 😆

The ice creams are good but expensive. The terrace is nice. But 4 CHF for a carafe of water when I said tap water is expensive. Especially when we've already had a cold tea for 5 chf and a glass of ice cream for 13 chf.....

The Gintonic was served very carelessly for the price (16.-)... a slice of lemon and an ice cube was the entire accompaniment... I know otherwise.

Serving the vegan bowl was outrageous. Salad from the bag, unseasoned, tofu without taste, pure soy sauce as a “dressing”. Tarte flambée wasn't a revelation either... (3 leaves of rocket, unseasoned) The lack of spices is compensated with high prices.

Very good place for lunch, variety of options on the menu, very delicious food preparation! It's great that they have large and medium portions for those of us who don't eat a lot👌. The atmosphere in the place is special with a view of the river. Good service.

We had Vol au Vent and it was absolutely delicious! Can't wait to go there again. This was my second time there and the first time we had something else and it was average as taste. But the Vol au Vent, damn good! It is a very busy restaurant and you might not always get a good seat by the water, but still nice I think.

We wanted to reserve a table personally today for lunch for two people. The lady replied that she couldn't accept reservations, only the boss did that. The boss just appeared. We contacted him, but he said reservations were only possible online. Annoyed, we went to another restaurant.

Food is nice and at reasonable price

The service could have been more polite, after placing the order the waiters argued about who should serve us and it lasted about 45 minutes. The food was brought right after our intervention. Food average, cappuccino tastes like cocoa. I recommend avoiding it.

Was declined service after a long time of waiting

They ignored us for long time, then said they don't serve food on the tables outside. When we switched to place next to, next clients were served fast and had food exactly on the same table we were sitting on.

The restaurant is well located with a nice terrace. However, the food was unconvincing and rather expensive for the mediocre quality. Benjamin from the service, however, was great. He gave us excellent, competent advice and, despite everything, put a smile on our faces. Thank you very much for that!

We were looking for somewhere serves cheese fondue, found Barca on Google maps. We sat under the roof instead of the river side, was cooling and available to smoke. Food is amazing, we have 4 people so we have to order two courses in terms to share a cheese fondue that 1 portion is for 2 people. We had spaghetti with lemon cream sauce, pastetli mit, and a cheese fondue. The price is fair and service is great, defo recommend to come here enjoy your meal.

Super Fondue! Super Flammkuchen! Feines essen! Danke! We are from Switzerland and came with friends visiting from Austria! I wanted since a long time myself to eat a Fondue at the river in Luzern, which is a very tourist thing to do! :) Unfortunately you can not reserve a table there at the riverside, but you can reserve one under the arcade or inside. But someone was leaving at the riverside and we could get that table! I recomend maybe going at a time inbetween lunch and dinner, because then there are less people, maybe it’s more likely to get a free spot. Under the arcade it’s a bit a dark atmosphere… maybe nice in winter.. The Fondue, I as a swiss really liked! I saw that someone left a bad review saying they ordered Fondue and it was with no meat😂 and not the correct thing. But it is the correct Fondue here! And very good! Fondue is a melted cheese “soup” and you eat it with bread and potatoes! No meat! 😅 if you want “meat Fondue” look for a place that makes Fondue Chinoise, that is basically Hot Pot but the version that the swiss people eat (that has no cheese). The Scenery there is so nice next to the lake! Danke!!

Looks touristy at first glance. But it wasn't so bad. Great cheese fondue. The cheese could have been a little spicier, but that's probably a matter of taste. Friendly service. Last but not least, the view over the Reuss to the Chapel Bridge was amazing! Like everywhere else along this street, the price of beer is too high, but you already know that when you sit down.

Had dinner here twice during our stay in Luzern. Delicious pasta, wonderful location and very good service.

Waiting staff were good, efficient and pleasant. However the food was shockingly awful and over priced. The toilet, only one, was dirty and the wooden toilet seat had a large split in it ... Very unhygienic! Would not recommend at all! AVOID 😡

Food was ok. Yet the lady who’s not wearing uniform was pretty rude when she arranged a table for me. Other waiters are friendly tho.

We had fondue with potatoes and bread here. It was awesome. A great experience. Also the soup of the day a herb soup was awesome. Loved the atmosphere what with all the candle light dinner etc.

Hit or miss on the dishes. We had the salmon - just ok, cordon bleu- not palatable - breaded pork - just ok. Only the antipasto worked but with a good bit of wine. This is a pass if you have other choices by the river.

First of all: Neither the guest room nor the toilets, dishes or cutlery are dirty. Common hygiene is also taken absolutely seriously and adhered to. I can't understand bad reviews like this. The same applies to the negative comments about food and service. We were treated very, very nicely and in a friendly manner throughout the evening. Our food was also excellent. We had cordon bleu, paste and the slices of salmon. It was very tasty and the portions were just right. The drinks were nice and cold and also carbonated. If you want: There is a nice selection of wines, and the service is also very friendly. We give it full marks. We recommend!

Very cool place with super nice waitresses. Enjoyed a lovely cream tomato soup. Hubby ordered a chicken dish with the best potato side dish.

Food was great. Had the fondue (which is cheese with bread and potatoes, not some American variation) and the wait staff were all very friendly, pleased even to help in english. It was a bit cool from the rain but they provide blankets for legs. It was a little pricey, but well worth it for the experience. We had a great time.

Today we were in Lucerne for the first time and we decided to try fondue. We were lucky to be served by Patrick. He was very kind and made our first impression of Lucerne and Restaurant Barca excellent. Since my wife was cold, Patrick was kind enough to give her a fur coat, which is available to diners. Then he told us about what the experience is like in the middle of winter and gave us a big smile while doing so. Thank you so much!

Price/performance ratio not available. Poor quality of drinks and food. Lillet tastes like water without the fizz. Pike perch fillet poorly fried and totally over salted. Fries no taste and spongy consistency. Not recommended.

Very bad restaurant in all qualities. The waitress doesn't know the food. The cocktails “Aperol spritz in my example” taste like water with color. No alcohol, no soda. A zander fish fillet comes as fish nuggets, fried in small pieces, and is over-salted. A really overpriced fast food restaurant. I don't recommend it to anyone!

Overpriced fast food. Instead of fish fillet you get fish fingers. Cola and non-carbonated Aperol Spritz. Restaurant staff did not wash their hands after using the toilet. Simply disgusting. Unfortunately you can't give minus stars.

When asked what kind of sauce was in the pasta, they said normal sauce without any further description In addition, an employee left the toilet after using the toilet without washing his hands. The food doesn't taste fresh at all. Never again! Totally not recommended

Nice restaurant with a roofed terrace and some tables near the river. Fast service, good wine. Did was quite good too - not amazing but solid good. The menu was a bit short though, not many choices.

Nice restaurant right on the Reuss... The Lucerne Chügeli pie was excellent; also the cordon bleu with mountain cheese and the tarte flambée.

Everything was very good and they were very nice. We didn't speak Spanish and they did everything possible to make us feel comfortable and understand each other. The views of the river from the terrace are magnificent!!

Good fondue, decent raclette but served on a plate not with a machine. The location is very nice. Prices are correct for Switzerland. €73 for two for 1 fondue, 1 raclette, a coffee and a carafe of water (3.5) for 3 glasses of water.

Perfect the view + the food + the personal was so nice

You can feel sorry for the employees! You have to work in a winter jacket so that you don't shiver from the cold! Red wine is served ice cold! Gastronomically a complete 0 number! The main thing is that you can always hear the innkeepers talking about the competition! First clean up your own garden :)

Food was not as advertised and expensive for what it was. Should have gone next door.

We was in Saturday in restaurant. Food was good, but waitress was so transparent with his presents to our table that was so uncomfortable to be there. Literally counting bites while you eating and checking on your plate how much left make me so nervous. Maybe in total we spend 45min there. Last bite of my friend i stood up and paid straight away to go out. Never seen something like that in my life, by the way food is not cheap that staff are behive like that. Definitely will NEVER NEVER go there again!!

Had a table right by the water. Great view. Service is good. Eating schnitzel fries is not worth the price. Meat was undercooked and very tough, tasted like it came from a deep fryer. It's a shame we won't be visiting again.
