Baur's in Zürich

It was simply a wonderful evening and everything was perfect: ambience, service (TOP!) and the food (amazing!).

Every aspect of the experience was flawless, but what really set these visits apart was the bartender, Matteo. Matteo is not simply a bartender; he is a true cocktail artist, a flavor wizard who knows exactly how to transform high-quality ingredients into liquid works of art. Matteo's mastery of understanding and satisfying each guest's preferences is unparalleled. Every cocktail he prepares is a revelation, a perfect balance between innovation and respect for traditions. Under his leadership, the bar becomes a stage where cocktails are the protagonists, each telling its own unique story through flavors and aromas.

The service was absolutely incredible, everybody went above and beyond to make me feel welcome for my birthday dinner. I definitely recommend this place , please try the veal and the beef carpaccio . If you want to arrive early, enjoy a few drinks at the bar until your table is ready, the bartenders are excellent.

A touch of France in the heart of the Swiss banking metropolis. I've never been disappointed here! Excellent food and excellent wine pairing, competent and trained staff! Small side note, since perfection is impossible to achieve and this would mean a state of no longer having to work on yourself - only the menu, which takes up almost the size of a daily newspaper, lacks some variety. Although you can also see it true to the motto “never change a winning team”. TOP Bloody Mary! Good bye!

Baur’s in Zurich is a very nice restaurant. A super good menu across the board offers something for everyone. Top wine list with fine wines from all over the wine world. Very attentive staff make a meal an unforgettable experience. A must for connoisseurs. Higher price range

My rating only applies to the bar and the outdoor bar in the garden: We have been coming to Baur au Lac for several years and have also been coming to Baurs since it reopened. Unfortunately the staff at the bar has changed and it's extremely noticeable. Unfortunately, professionalism and respect for guests are not 100% guaranteed. The Italian bartenders gossip about guests without knowing that they could possibly understand Italian. The staff who were behind the bar a few months ago did a great job and were always up for a chat. In my opinion, that's what makes a top bartender a good one... but making a bad face all the time and then delivering bad service is just not possible. I myself have worked in the catering industry for over 15 years and speak from experience. Maybe none or a few guests have noticed it, but that's definitely not possible for the Baur au Lac.

We spent a great evening at the bar with great cocktails, friendly staff and a great ambience! Special thanks to the bartender Daniele - the drinks are simply WOW 😊 we'll be happy to come back.. Grazie!

In the early afternoon we noticed this place from the outside due to the elegance of the details, and upon entering we had confirmation of this! Incredible atmosphere and decoration and also service is really TOP. We have been here for brunch and for drinks and overall we are very happy! When it comes to food, the portions are small nevertheless and prices are a bit high! Also nothing extremely tasteful, so food is just ok in my opinion. Nonetheless worths for sure to come once.

Just love the architecture of this restaurant. It‘s a real french brasserie on a premium standard with steady high quality food and dishes - especially meat (of course). The tenderloin steak was perfect, so were the sides. The foie gras is of best quality and worth the sin. The roasted cauliflower I‘ve chosen as a starter to begin my dinner with healthy fibres, were nice - but the bed of tahini was really not good. I have to admit that I somehow knew it, but I did not want to eat a salad (trying to avoid raw veggies after 4). And I never thought that more or less pure tahini would be served (even though it says so on the menu). A cook should know how to serve tahini. Maybe you change the recipe a bit and add some yoghurt. Or better take the yoghurt as base and add tahini. Or classy humus with tahini (adding then some yoghurt never is a bad idea) 😉

Price-performance is a little exaggerated but the food was delicious. Service a little inattentive.

We went for a late Sunday brunch. The food was ok but nothing special. Restaurant and bar were nice and have a comfortable atmosphere. Service was sadly also nothing special, pretty cold and impersonal, we were also very abruptly presented the check without asking when they wanted us to leave. Nice but not worth the price.

Brunch, lunch, caviar snack, always happy, super friendly team, young, attentive, friendly. Great wine list and special champagne vintages. Everything is perfect here, one of my little favorites in Zurich. 🍾👍

Diverse menu offers variety in gastronomy and price. A wine list suitable for Bacchus himself - with sommelier advice free of charge. The chateaubriand for two resulted in two satisfied diners. No need to fill up on bread. Waiters more attentive than a cat watching a mouse. Beautiful high gloss pistachio interior contrasted by modern art. Affordable price tag for Zürich. Despite missing the “10th meal free” punchcard your correspondent returned for a repeat visit.

Each dish was absolutely too salty, i don’t understand how come the chef cook this way…. It’s a no go back for us for sure. The service is nice, everyone is gentle and polite, that’s the only reason i give them 3 stars, if it’s just for the food….not even one star…

Excellent food (truffle risotto was amazing! ). The menu isn't extensive, but great for business lunches. Service is great and always efficient, happy and polite.

Very nice bar with a great atmosphere. Unfortunately we were not impressed by the service or the food. We ordered the three Wagyu Burgers as a snack. Afterwards we were brought a large Wagyu burger. When we pointed this out to the lady, she disappeared again. About 2 minutes later, the same large burger was placed in front of us by another employee without comment. We pointed out again that we had ordered three small burgers. The answer to that was: No! You ordered the Wagyu Burger. We said no, only to be told again that we had ordered the large burger. But he would cut our burger in half. Since we didn't feel like discussing it, we reluctantly accepted. When the burger arrived cut in half, it was already cold and clearly not worth the price... Interestingly, shortly after ordering, two place settings were placed on our table, which we believe is a sign that we ordered a dish to share. The apple pie wasn't worth the price either. It's a shame for such a great location and the Baur au Lac, which actually considers customer satisfaction to be so important. Tip to the service, if two people order the Wagyu Burgers, this probably means the three small pieces and not one large one. Simply asking would save a lot of inconvenience.

Terrific Swiss bistro concept with warm, helpful service, a perfectly blended avocado and tomato salad and a flavorful, hearty veal and kidney dish.

We went there quite late at night a couple of days ago, being quite hungry and looking for a bite. We were offered a seat in the bar area and told that only the bar menu is available at that hour. I was reluctant at first, not being a great fan of food in bars. However, I was quite impressed with the dishes available in the bar menu. The Wagyu burgers were excellent and all that we needed!

Very good food and nice place. The service is not really in line with the standards of this restaurant, but not easy to find good level of service in Zurich unfortunately.

I can only recommend Baur's for business lunches. The service is very fast and friendly and the quality of food is very high. I've been here several times and have always been very satisfied.

A meal full of highlights: delicately delicious calamari, crispy langoustines with a fine grilled note without being dry, linguine sepia al astiche, of course al dente, not too heavy with a slightly sweet, typical lobster taste and finally 4 small pieces of well-combined cheese. Sunday brunch The food was good, but not outstanding. The prices are reasonable. The service can be improved. Could be more attentive. The coffee was rather difficult. Way too hot and thin. A classy establishment should invest in a good barista. The Bellinis are highly recommended for this.

Very nice restaurant and friendly staff. We were there for brunch and the food was excellent. The only downside was the bad, watery coffee. Expect a good coffee in a place like this and for 8.-.

Great dinner experience. We had the lobster linguine and lamp chop and they were well executed. The apple tart was to die for. Must try. Service staff were attentive, lovely and approachable. The only thing we don't understand is, a bottle of still water costs 13 swiss francs which isn't too far away from the price of one dessert. Nonetheless, my husband and I had a good time. Recommend to go if you don't mind spending a bit more for a pleasant evening. Intimate setting. Best to reserve a table as it's rather popular.

Top restaurant. A pleasant business lunch on the banks of the lake. Excellent service and cuisine that can satisfy all palates. Prices in line with the Zurich offer, booking recommended.

Food is completely tasteless, orders are late. Waitresses are welcoming.

My friend and I stumbled into Baur‘s from the stormy night on Friday, and were welcomed by Neil - a new member of the team from South Africa via Miami. Welcoming, full of knowledge, and a positive vibe. Neil gave us some excellent recommendations - definitely my go-to bar in Zurich in the future. We’ll be back.

A beautiful restaurant with excellent food. But not exactly cheap

Quite ok, the Rösti with the Zurich Geschnetzelte wasn't exactly convincing: strange aftertaste and strange consistency... Otherwise attentive service and great ambience!

The location is great - no question about it. The first visit was also an experience. Excellent service and very good food. Unfortunately, things looked different on our second visit. Our service staff was completely incompetent - didn't bring what was ordered twice. When the food we ordered came, it didn't meet the specifications on the menu. No apology. Pretty disappointing for a house like this!

A bottle of water costs 13 Francs. How? How can a bottle of water cost that much? I need answers.

All senses are delighted in Baur's Brasserie. The wonderful interior design transports you to another era. The service is just perfect. Super friendly and attentive. The food was a poem. Both the starters (rillette and vintage sardines) and the main courses (Züri-Gschnätzlets and Wiener Schnitzel) cannot be beaten both visually and in terms of taste. The prices are high, but definitely reasonable for the quality and ambience delivered. Thanks to the whole Baur's team for the wonderful evening.

I had lunch in the restaurant. It was delicious & the staff are so friendly and welcoming even though i have no reservation and came in when it was crowded already. Everything was so good. I have order lamb chops and asked for well done, they brought me medium well by mistake but changed it after that. I will recommend the restaurant for my friends and i’m coming back for breakfast!

Great restaurant, in one of the most iconic places in the heart of Zürich. Good staff, delicious food and incredible wine menu.

It was my second time there and it didn't disappoint. Outstanding service and great food and wine list. My husband had the "Zurich style veal" with kidneys and loved it. I had pastas with rabbit. If you love strong ginger tea make sure to order one with dessert!

My friend's went to brunch without me because dogs are not allowed, which I completely accept. What is UNACCEPTABLE is that a group was allowed inside with their dog "since they were not aware of the restaurants policy". I even called prior to our reservation and spoke to the person available. To move our table for brunch on the terrasse was impossible. You either have a no pet allowed policy or don't. Maybe something to reconsider.

The egg Benedict is really good. The caramel pancakes are good too, they had too little sauce for my taste tho

Wonderful experience at Baurs. Honestly one cannot go wrong with Baur Au Lac. The restaurants are always impeccable and service top quality. Last night my husband booked a birthday dinner for me here. The minute we came over, I was wished happy birthday by the host and servers, with sparkle in their eyes. So welcoming and genuine. That was the start of a what would be an excellent and very caring experience. We went for the Asparagus soup which was so creamy and tasty. Followed by a gourmet grilled burger and endless french fries. Just delicious. The dessert was one of the best I've ever had. Apple tart with vanilla ice cream. The apple tart was so delicate and not being an apple tart fan before, I am now a convert. Before dessert I was also surprised by a cute chocolate mousse dessert specially for my birthday. The servers truly are sweet. They look actually excited to be surprising me with it. It just warms the heart ❤️ Thank you to the team at Baurs for the delicious food, stellar service and making my birthday personal and very special.

The service led by Maître d' Panayiotis is exceptional. Very efficent, attentive, fast, and polite. Everyone speaks many languages including English. The Wiener Shnitzel is the best I have had in a very very long time.

Best Sunday Brunch in Zürich ever!

Very nice restaurant, competent service and fine food. But the prices are so high that it makes you dizzy. With an average price of around 20 CHF per glass of wine (!), the fun stops even in Zurich and the main courses easily add 10-15 CHF everywhere (e.g. chicken with a side dish around 50 CHF). Expensive food doesn't bother me and I constantly visit numerous star restaurants at home and abroad. In this bistro with a convivial atmosphere, you can't shake the feeling that you're being ripped off.

Our new favorite go to place! Amazing drinks, hospitable company and even more superb drinks - be sure to try the Sinner’s Rock and Vesper Martini. Ask for Franca to make it for you too!

It wasn't the first time I was a guest at Baur's but probably the last. The service was very disappointing, the food was rushed to the table, the sea bream fillet was mediocre in terms of quality and taste. The experience was extremely disappointing and comparable to a mediocre "neighborhood pub" in comparison the price of the food and drinks was extremely exaggerated. What should be changed? Probably everything - except the interior decoration.

Das Essen ist für meinen Geschmack ziemlich Gut doch es ist schwierig einen Tisch zu bekommen was mich nicht dazu ermutigt dort zu reservieren. Die Kellner sind meistens ziemlich nett (mit Betonung auf Meistens) Es ist sehr schön eingerichtet und man sieht sie haben sich mühe gegeben.

Wir kamen ins Baurs am letzten Abend vor dem Lockdown und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Toller Abend, leckeres Essen, herzlicher Service. Die Weinkarte dürfte etwas grösser sein ;).

Ein sehr schönes Restaurant, mit super Ambiente. Die Speisen fanden wir übergewürzt. Hatten als Vorspeise Blumenkohlsalat auf Empfehlung bestellt, aber, dass wäre eher eine Beilage zum Hauptgericht. Als Hauptspeise gab's schwarze linguini mit Hummer - das war total überwürzt, die Nudeln waren weich und man hatte wegen viele Tomatensoße den Hummer nicht mehr schmecken können! 🤷 Als zweite Hauptspeise gab's Nudeln mit Kaninchenfleisch. Das hat mir persönlich besser geschmeckt. Der Fleisch war super zart und die Nudeln auf den Punkt gekocht. Im großen und ganzen ist man satt geworden, aber außer Ambiente hat uns das Essen nicht umgehauen. Bei den Preise haben wir schon was besondereres erwartet

sehr stylisch und hochwertig gemacht. das Restaurant könnte auch in Dubai oder so stehen. Schöne und nicht zu grosse Auswahl an Speisen. Das Personal ist freundlich und professionell. Die Qualität der Speisen ist gut, wenn auch nicht herausragend. Da hat es sicher noch Luft nach oben, v.a. auch in Anbetracht der doch hohen Preisen. Ingesamt aber sicher einer schöner Ort wo sich ein Besuch lohnt.

Where do I even start? We had an evening out with friends at the bar and it could not have been better! The service was incredible, our glasses were never empty and the food was to die for. They took great care of us and made us feel super special.

Das Lokal sieht super aus! Das Essen wie auch der Service sind gut.

Eigentlich waren wir nur dort auf ein paar Feierabend Drinks, der Kellner hat uns die Trüffel Pasta im Verlaufe des Abends schmackhaft gemacht. Unverschämterweise wurde uns nicht mitgeteilt wieviel der Trüffel kostet, noch wurden wir darauf hin gewiesen dem Kellner mitzuteilen, wann er aufhören soll den Trüffel über den Teller zu reiben. 350.- nur für den Trüffel stand dann zu unserem Schreck auf der Rechnung. Im Nachhinein habe ich von zwei Freunden erfahren, dass ihnen genau das gleiche passiert ist.Das geht gar nicht!

Seit der Gesamtrenovation in 2019 ein wunderschön ausgestattetes Lokal und tolles Konzept. Leider hatte unser Abendessen mehrere Schwächen gezeigt. Brot leicht angetrocknet, Tomaten bei Avocado/Tomaten-Vorspeise sehr kalt und ohne jeden Geschmack, die Garstufe beim Rindsfilet nicht wie bestellt, die dünnen Pommes Frites zwar gut fritiert, aber dennoch etwas lasch und schwammig, und dem Dessert fehlte der Frischefaktor. Alles in allem ein eher enttäuschendes Dinner und noch an einem für uns besonderen Abend, an welchem wir etwas zu feiern hatten. Ich weiss, dass es im zum Baur au Lac gehörenden Baur's definitiv auch besser gehen kann. Wir hatten früher im Rive Gauche stets toll gegessen. In Zürich gibt es eine Riesenauswahl an tollen Restaurants und wir werden vermutlich nicht mehr so schnell wieder im Baur's essen. Sorry.

Das Ambiente ist sehr speziell, aber im Positiven. Die Bedienung nett und aufmerksam. Sehr gute Weinauswahl. Das Stubegüggeli war okay (sans plus), leider fehlte die Fingerbowle. Nach Nachfrage gabs ein Schüsseli lauwarmes Wasser. Die Langustinen waren lecker und gut gewürzt, begleitet mit einer eingepackten 1/2 Zitrone, was auf dem grossen, weissen Teller irgendwie verloren aussah, denn bekanntlich isst das Auge ja mit. Alles in allem doch eher enttäuschend. Zu kleine Portionen, ziemlich lieblos serviert... schade! Bei diesen Preisen darf man mehr erwarten.

I would like to send you a new review about the Baur au lac in Zurich!We had yesterday the 24th of October 2020 lunch with friends in the Brasserie of the hotel mentioned above.They have renovated the restaurant and it did turn out very, very beautiful.The food and service was absolutely excellent.The only thing they still have to work on is there BABA ou RUM it is not very good, the pastry was far to try. El nuevo diseño interior es maravilloso, pero el menú me parece bastante aburrido. Incluso los platos ordenados, como el foie gras, el plato principal de pescado, etc., no eran demasiado impresionantes y estaban en la media.
