Bergstube in Zermatt

It was a quiet evening, from the service to the kitchen to the owner, everyone was extremely friendly. No matter where you stay in Zermatt, it's worth a walk.

We were here on two evenings. If you ordered in advance there was a great cheese fondue and a cordon bleu on the second evening. Both top and at very fair local prices. The service was extremely friendly and accommodating. Great location with a direct view of the Matterhorn and a nice atmosphere. We would love to come back.

Magnificent homemade cordon bleu and lime risotto. Attentive service, room with a slightly minimalist decor. Price ok for Zermatt!

Very tasty food and warm welcoming service.

I spent an evening in the Bergstube with my family. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy good food in a nice atmosphere. We were warmly welcomed by the landlady and immediately received a greeting from the kitchen in the form of a delicious pumpkin soup. The cordon bleu and then the seasonal gingerbread parfait were served on beautifully presented plates and met my taste exactly. The view of the Matterhorn from the terrace is unique (you can see the whole mountain)! All in all great, 5 stars from me!

We were very positively surprised by the fantastic cuisine and the very friendly service. We were greeted very warmly by the landlady (the 6th star would belong to her) and we were also specially pampered by the chef. The Bergstube will definitely become the local pub for us as locals again!

Previous owner was really super friendly and hospitable. The new owner absolutely not, unfortunately. There is nothing to eat for children, the desserts are also very limited. We came here every year on holiday, but definitely not anymore with the new owner.

Great people. The folks brought in this lone American and treated him like their own. Justina and the owner are very friendly. The food was superb: fresh, traditional, simple. I recommend the Carpaccio. Excellent ambiance. Cannot wait to return. Felt like a little slice of home, whilst abroad. Won’t ever forget, and will certainty return one day soon. Ate incredibly good cordon bleu with gratin, cozy and a perfect view of the Matterhorn!

We were there three days ago. The restaurant was cold, I was freezing. The food was edible, but nothing more. For these prices I expect something different. Risotto was bland without any taste. My husband's potato gratin was dripping with fat. The vegetables we had with us were unsightly and completely overcooked. Since I am a trained female chef myself, I wonder if this kitchen works with a trained chef. I highly doubt that. That was the first and last time we were there.

We were there yesterday Thursday Eat raclette there. Everything went well. Reservation with a nice large table worked. My partner and I had very nice and attentive service. We ordered drinks and they came immediately. The accompaniments to the raclette were generous. Fine peeled potatoes and fine spices, pearl onions and pickles. The plates with the very fine raclette were nice and hot, so it tasted really good and didn't cool down. As soon as you were finished with a portion of raclette, the next plate came. We could eat as much as we wanted or could. Price very fair. We will be back.

Friendly and warm welcome. Beautiful rustic mountain style room. Unfortunately the raclette galore is not very good. Even if the price is very attractive (25.- frs), the service is not up to par: the raclettes are prepared in advance and arrive on the table very rubbery and dry. Principle to be reviewed!...

A couple of of us split the fondue with herbs and a rösti. Everything was delicious! Service was excellent and it had a very relaxed, quite atmosphere. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy some delicious traditional Swiss food.

Even though this restaurant is found at the edge of the town it is really worth the detour! The food is amazing and the personell is super friendly. The price range is also fair. An additional highlight is the view you get from the balconny! Really recommend this restaurant to all who enjoy the more quiet corners of zermatt, who enjoy good food, and who enjoy great views and friendly staff.

Family run bar and restaurant, a little out of the way of the main tourists with brilliant view of the Eiger and cheap cold beer and drinks.

An absolute highlight, outside of the hustle and bustle with a terrace and a view of the Matterhorn. Absolutely lovely, humble, very attentive and courteous staff throughout and a wonderful culinary offering. We had wonderful Rösti, but it was a bit too hot for fondue. It's worth taking a few steps up for this event, otherwise the red bus would stop right in front of it.

We visited as a group and had cheese fondue which was delicious! The French Swiss put Kirsch liquor in it which makes it very aromatic. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere is very cozy.

Good food but skip the fondue, not worth it. They require you to do at least two people and you will spend close to $50cf for some bread and cheese that's it. The dish was not an entree like they claimed.

We walked from the train station to the restaurant with the help of google map. It’s about 1.5km. We came here for dinner. We made reservation by phone. I think their specialty is rösti as they have one page of rösti menu. We couldn’t order raclette as they have only twice a week in the menu. The staff recommended their homemade fondue minimum two persons but we didn’t ordered as it’s a bit too much for us. We ordered rösti Moritz which had 2 pieces of seared pork. It’s served on a hot plate, very crispy n fragrant hash brown and seared pork topped with herb butter. Another dish we order is seared pork with salad. As it was raining outside, the staff helped us to book an electric taxi to our hotel.

Raclette wasn't served hot enough and was therefore very rubbery. The price is way too high for that. For small children who ate three slices, 25.00 per child was charged. Nice personel.

Restaurant ouvert les jeudi, vendredi et samedi en basse saison. Un accueil chaleureux, très attentionné. Les roestis sont trop bons ! Et copieux.Nous y sommes retourné le lendemain pour la spécialité maison : l’entrecôte servie sur plat, sur un réchaud avec un beurre café de Paris maison, excellent.La sauce à salade est aussi une vraie sauce maison, ce qui est très rare de nos jours.Ce restaurant est tenu en famille, cela aussi se sent pour le service et l'attention.Pour la raclette à gogo (Jeudi en basse saison) mieux vaut réserver.

Service adorable avec des produits locaux simples mais très bons (vin du Valais, fondue aux herbes du coin...), et le tout à des prix doux et à l'écart du centre. Ça vaut le coup de marcher jusqu'en haut de la station !

Optimal! I had dinner twice in this restaurant, August 2020, overlooking the Matterhorn and the green meadows. Very kind staff. There is a wide choice of very good roesti. The dishes are plentiful and the price is right. I strongly recommend it.

Das Restaurant liegt leicht oberhalb von Zermatt und entzieht sich somit ein wenig der Hektik. Zweimal waren wir dort zum Nachtessen. Wir hatten unsere Hunde dabei, die sich auch sehr wohl fühlten. Einmal assen wir ein feines Fondue, auf unseren Sonderwunsch nach mehr Knoblauch wurde rasch Rechnung getragen. Beim zweiten Mal wählten wir Fleisch mit Beilage. Der Service war speditiv und freundlich und das Essen schmeckte gut. Hier spürt man noch richtig die Zermatter von der Sprache über die Zeit auch für einen Schwatz.

Accueil très chaleureux, tout le personnel fait des efforts pour parler français, vue superbe sur le cervin, rostis délicieux et prix abordables. Que demander de mieux !

Sehr sympathische Bedienung. Wir genossen ein Raclette mit freiem Blick aufs Matterhorn. Der Käse war nach unserem Geschmack zu jung und hatte daher wenig Geschmack. Ansonsten alles tipp topp. Gerne wieder!

Une super adresse que je recommande vivement! On y mange tellement bien et le service est top!!!On y est allés deux fois: une super carte de rösstis délicieux, la fondue est miam, et la salade Bergatube aussi!!! Et pour les enfants, lea chicken nuggets sont faits maison et super bons, je sais j’ai goûté. En plus comme c’est un peu excentré on peut réserver facilement et on est servi rapidement.

Authentic, swiss family run restaurant with great swiss food. The service is very attentive serving good quality swiss dishes. Close to the Matterhorn Glacier paradise cable car station, worth a visit and the short relaxing walk from Zermatt center.

Semaine de Noël - Nouvel An, nous sommes arrivés à 21h03 et on nous a refusés car la cuisine était déjà ferméee !!!!! .... alors que la station est archipleine à cette époque. C'est bien dommage, ce d'autant plus que nous y avons déjà mangé de nombreuses fois et que la cuisine (cuisine locale) était très bonne.

The food has been excellent for years! The service is very friendly and responds to the guests' wishes. The fondue is one of the best in Zermatt. The furnishings are cozy. The prices are cheap.

Wir konnten auf dem Balkon ein herrliches Fondue geniessen und hatten immer das Matterhorn im Blickfeld. Sehr nette Bedienung. Vielen Dank.

Meine Freundin und ich waren an einem regnerischen Nachmittag, einem Dienstag. Dort waren nur 4 Leute, einschließlich uns. Wir bestellten den Käse, Schinken und Tamato r Sti, und den Speck, Ei und Zwiebel rsti. Es war gut und der warme Kartoffelfisch war perfekt an diesem nassen Tag. Nichts Besonderes über das Essen, aber uns hat es gefallen.So kosteten uns zwei Portionen rsti und ein großes Bier und 2 dl (ein großer) Prosecco etwa 53 Franken.

Im Restaurant Bergstube, etwas ausserhalb Zermatt, an der Strasse nach Winkelmatten gelegen, gibt es sehr gute Schweizer Käsegerichte, wie Fondue und Raclette, zu essen. Die Familie Kronig, sind ausgezeichnete Gastgeber und führen die Lokalität mit viel Herzblut. Die Lokalität ist, mit viel Holz, gemütlich eingerichtet, was zu einem heimeligen Ambiente einladet. Die Preise sind ob Speise- oder Weinkarte, sehr vernünftig, Die Gastgeber, Familie Kronig, sehr freundlich und aufmerksam haben es sich verdient, dass man sich bei ihnen einmal zu einem gemütlichen Käseabend besucht und sich einen schönen Abend gönnt.

Wir haben hier bei unseren vorherigen Besuchen in Zermatt gegessen. Es ändert sich nicht. Sehr freundliche Begrüßung und Service von der Familie. Gute Auswahl an Gerichten, vor allem das Raclette (man sollte dafür einen Tisch reservieren. Dienstag und Donnerstag). Sie haben etwas ungewöhnlicher Rosti (zB mit Schinken, Birne und Käse). Die Salate sind sehr gut. Dieses Jahr haben sie eine neue Dole auf ihrer Weinkarte, die wirklich sehr schön war. Wir werden immer wieder kommen! !Es ist nur ein kurzer Spaziergang von der Gondelstation oder dem roten Skibus, der vor dem Hotel hält.

Käsefondue plus großes Bier, frisch gezapft, nette Bedienung - perfekt. Ambiente viel Holz, hohe Decken, Abstand zu den Nachbartischen sowie faire Preise. Absolut zu empfehlen, einziger Makel - liegt ein wenig abseits - guter Verdauungssparziergang.

Obwohl es in der Nähe war, haben wir dieses Restaurant in unseren ersten paar Nächte übersprungen, da wir nicht viele Bewertungen fanden. Wir haben hier später in der Woche gegessen und waren sehr froh, dass wir das gemacht haben. Wir hatten Schweinschnitzel und Fondue und liebten beides. Unsere Gastgeber waren sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Wir waren im Hotel Matthiol zu Gast und wurden heute (Donnerstag) auf das Schild "Raclette à Discrétion" auf das Restaurant aufmerksam. Für Zermatt ist das Restaurant etwas ausserhalb, für uns war es sehr nah. Da es nicht gross ist und es wenig Gäste hatte, wurden wir sehr aufmerksam und überaus freundlich auf "walliserditsch" bedient. Unser Hund war auch sehr willkommen und im Verlaufe des Abends kamen noch weitere Gäste mit Hunden. Das Raclette wurde immer wieder auf frischen Tellerchen gebracht und war super! Ein sehr gutes Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. Wenn wir wieder einmal in Zermatt sind, kommen wir gerne wieder. :)

On y a été pour la raclette à gogo. Ca fait du bien d'avoir un restaurant à Zermatt qui a gardé sa simplicité et des prix super abordable.Attention, la raclette à gogo ne se sert que le mardi et jeudi.OK, ce n'est pas au centre du village mais en 7 min à pied on y est ! Personnel très sympathique et soirée extra pour nous ! on y reviendra la prochaine fois qu'on sera à Zermatt

Wir besuchten das Hotel mehrmals während unseres Winterurlaub. Sieht aus wie ein Familienbetrieb. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und die Speisekarte beinhaltet die Auswahl der Speisen perfekt nach gut langen Tag auf der Piste. Die Speisekarte auch eine Auswahl an etwas leichtere Gerichte. Entspannt gemütliches Restaurant mit günstigen Preisen.

Quiet and cozy family restaurant. Inexpensive compared to others. Very attentive and helpful attitude towards visitors. They don't seem to be open on Monday. I recommend fondue and entrecote. Good quality alcohol. Raclette is not prepared every day: it seems to be on Tuesdays and Fridays (although everything could change).

Wir waren zum Abendessen spontan in diesem Restaurant eingekehrt. Das Ambiente ist sehr angenehm. Da das Restaurant nicht sehr gross ist, wird man als Gast sehr aufmerksam bedient. Das Entrecoté in der Pfanne ist ausgezeichnet und wird unbedingt weiter empfohlen. Auch das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis stimmt.

Etwas ausserhalb, jedoch zu Fuss sehr gut zu erreichen, war ich für das Abendessen viel zu früh da! ich wurde jedoch von der Tochter des Hauses äusserst liebenswürdig bedient und unterhalten! Sie hat mir sehr anschaulich die Walliserseele ein wenig nähergebracht, mir mit Anekdoten und Sagen die Zeit vertrieben und dann erst noch vor dem eigentlichen Betriebsbeginn ein wunderbares Raclette á discrétion serviert, welches von ihrer Mama zubereitet wurde! Ich wäre gern noch länger geblieben, aber nach dem feinen Essen und dem süffigen Walliser Weisswein, draussen auf der Terrasse, war ich dann doch recht müde und habe mich verabschiedet! Ich hoffe, dass sie ihre Träume verwirklichen kann!

Sehr schönes, ruhiges Hotel mit einem tollen Blick auf das Matterhorn. Ein typisches, Schweizer Essen, wirklich nichts Schickes. Wir hatten Rösti und waren begeistert. Nette Besitzer.

Wir sind zum Abendessen 3 Nächte hier. Die rosti und Fondue sind hervorragend. Wir haben auch das Raclette. Bergstube ist ein seltener Wert in Zermatt. Das Essen und der Service sind wunderbar.

Wir haben uns an einem verschneiten Abend mit einem super feinen Raclette verwöhnen lassen. Das Lokal ist etwas abseits gelegen und bietet eine Karte mit einheimischer Köstlichkeiten an. Es ist ein sehr sympatischer kleiner Familienbetrieb. Die Bedienung mit schönstem walliser Dialekt war sehr aufmerksam und wir können dieses Lokal wärmstens empfehlen.

Eine große Auswahl an Rösti Mahlzeiten mit ein paar anderen Gerichten geworfen. voll mit Einheimischen und nette Atmosphäre. Sehr lecker und das Riesen Meringue seinem Namen alle Ehre - es ist riesig!
