Apart from the oysters, the fish sauce and the setting, everything was disappointing. After receiving liver instead of the filet mignon ordered and an overcooked steak instead of rare, we can only note that everything is bland and unappealing (including the truffle risotto and the chicken). Evening costing more than 600 francs for 5 (1 bottle of wine), the price does not guarantee quality, that's a certainty.

We ate a platter of oysters at the beginning of January and unfortunately got sick. It can happen, I can understand. We called to report that we were sick. On the first call, the person informs us that we will be contacted again quickly. 4 days later I call back and same speech... For 1 month we still have not been contacted again. I find this deplorable for an establishment of this level.

We went to the brasserie for New Year's Eve. My husband had a beef fillet Rossini and I had a lobster risotto. Exquisite, although the Rossini sauce was a little too salty. And they don't have non-alcoholic champagne. The sommelier was adorable. An excellent address.

I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Brasserie Grand-Chêne inside the Lausanne Palace Hotel. This is a beautiful brasserie with lots of wood. It exists since 1950’s and saw many celebrities going there as evidenced by name plates and pictures. The food is very high quality French brasserie style. The turbot fish I had was well prepared and cooked and the sides were good as were other guests’ (perch fillets; octopus). They also prepared upon my request an off-menu berries & fruits salad. Service was generally kind and proactive. They are famous also for their seafood platters.

Excellent lunch yesterday in this magnificent brasserie from starter to dessert with a special mention for the crispy sweetbreads with candied lemon, accompanied by risotto-style fregola sarda, the best sweetbreads I have ever tasted. On the other hand, big disappointment in terms of choice of wines, due, says the waiter, to the end-of-year celebrations which dried out the cellar...I had never heard such nonsense, especially from a palace establishment . This is the reason for the 2 stars dedicated to the service.

Is a unpleasant experience. The place is half empty when we walked in. The guy with grey suit at the bar counter gave us a werid look and brought us to a dirty staircase walked a level down. And told us arranged a "chef" table. To our shock, it's a table right next to their kitchen. He gave us a "do not serve Asians" attitude. This staff needs to brush up his uneducated English and knowledge of wat is "chef" table. I hope this management be slapped one day. 27th December 2023 evening.

I recently visited the Brasserie du Grand Chêne with a friend, looking forward to a delightful evening with superior food. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing, particularly with the service. Initially, the waiter seemed disinterested. When asked for a drink suggestion, his lack of effort was evident – offering only 'Champagne?' and then 'beer?' without any enthusiasm or further options. Regarding the food, my Saumon Gravlax appetizer, priced at CHF 34, was underwhelming. It consisted of nearly dry blinis, which appeared to be of basic supermarket quality, topped with ordinary smoked salmon mixed with Cantadou cheese. This dish, which I could replicate for less than CHF 3, was not the Gravlax I expected. The rest of our meal followed suit - overly expensive and lacking in quality and flavor. Additionally, the waitstaff's behavior was concerning. They were openly disrespectful to each other behind the counter and generally carried an inappropriate demeanor. In one instance, a waiter broke a glass near our table, and the debris was not cleaned up for the remainder of our meal. In conclusion, while the Brasserie boasts a beautiful setting and an appropriate dress code for a high-end establishment, the food quality does not justify the high prices. Coupled with the subpar service, the overall experience did not meet the expected standards of such a reputed restaurant.

It's an disappointment to be brought to a table outside of the restaurant, below, less than a metre away from kitchen. Refer to attached picture. That is the area where the kitchen is located. Having a chef table proposal right in the kitchen area supposed to be ok. But not in that specific area. We are Asian. Doesn't mean we are slaves or servant.. I am paying to dine in here, not paying to be humiliated. Racists restaurant.

Very disappointed by this establishment which has really lost its shine. The dishes are very expensive for a quality that is largely not up to par. Our server was friendly but the organization as a whole was very shaky. Our dishes sat on the counter for several minutes and arrived at the table lukewarm. Knowing certain wines from the region, I note that the margins on wines are exorbitant (220.- for a bottle of Chasselas). One of the wine glasses was very dirty, the pepper shaker did not work, the salad was not fresh. In short, the entire experience is well below the asking prices. We won't come back.

I would have given 5 stars, but it has become much too expensive for a brasserie, even a 5-star hotel brasserie. I had the iberico pork with hummus and peas (65 francs anyway!), followed by Suzette pancakes. It was frankly delicious, but the portion of pork and especially the side dish (a few grams of hummus, a bit of excellent fresh peas) was frankly insufficient, even more so when you consider the exorbitant price.

For the same price you have to go to the palace restaurant and not the brasserie. Very very disappointed with the service, the service is not adapted to the customer and it is up to the customer to adapt to the speed of the service. Disappointment. Eating in the canteen gives you more satisfaction. Almost all the main dishes do not include any tasty side dish, at most a salad with some too salty potato chips. Plating without any care. A beef fillet requested rare arrived completely raw. If you expect something extraordinary when ordering the veal cordon bleu (one of the most expensive dishes) well, prepare to literally receive a breaded cylinder placed on its salted cream cheese. Creepy! The only positive note: Louis and Domenico, two waiters who at least try to remedy the disaster.

Bad culinary experience because it was not indicated on the menu that the “Mont d’or Escargots with garlic butter” were in fact seasoned with curry, which is not usual for snails. of Burgundy and which is worth noting. When we pointed this out and ended up with a dish that I wasn't going to eat, there was no response from the service to make up for it (even just offering coffee). For the rest, the place was very pleasant, not too noisy.

For the price I paid! Unfortunately, me and my friend received a scandalous service, no wine service! We give you the bottle with the first glass and the rest you manage yourself, no attention to the customer, we were never asked if we needed anything, 3 times the waiter completely forgot our table , while the restaurant was almost empty, I don't like to make complaints... but the restaurant was a disaster in terms of staff while we are in a 5 star in a Swiss city.

The gourmet restaurant was exceptionally closed for lunch that day. Uninspiring brasserie menu. Ridiculously short wine list, especially whites (while the brewery also does shucks). No sommelier. Long wait before the first course (one hour). Bland cheese soufflé. Salad bathing in its sauce. Sea sauerkraut invigorating, but ordinary. A good point for the bread and for the decor. It's difficult to eat well in Lausanne on a Saturday at lunchtime!

Very bad reception. Limit we were disturbing. Not to mention the comment we received behind our backs because we had dared to ask for a table other than the one literally in the entrance of the restaurant with the drafts, even though the restaurant was not full. Other tables were still free when we left. My wife took the “Saladine Malakoff”, which means “Saladine = 4 salad leaves” (no joke) and 2 cold Malakoffs which she couldn't finish... Frankly for a palace brasserie, only the price was up to par. I don't like to leave bad comments, but I felt obliged because we were so poorly received and poorly served. I only give the star for our server, who was polite and friendly, otherwise it deserves 0!

Excellent meal. There were 4 of us with a teenager and a 5 year old child. And there was something for everyone. The prices are still very expensive and unjustified, especially for the children's menu at 28-. However, the taste and flavors were there. The wait for the dishes was very reasonable for Switzerland. One star less for the management of the service which was very unfriendly and even cold. Some servers were free but inaccessible for requests, such as refilling water or bread. Damage.

Saturday night and the place was jumping. The big attraction is the fresh seafood bar where they are shucking oysters as you walk in. Not being a fan, I stuck to Schnitzel with boiled potatoes (tasted as if they came out of a vacuum pack? could be wrong) and it was totally delicious. Also great selection of ice cream (sorbet): I went for pear / mandarine, my friend had ginger / mandarine, each flavour was delish. We were served by a delightful young man, very efficient and curteous.

My favourite place in the world for an escalope de veau. Only thing I wish is that they still made the bread selection at the start (like a small white sourdough, soft one with oregano on top, etc) instead of the sliced bread. But this is a totally personal / sentimental suggestion as my sister and I used to be obsessed with these.

The dishes are far from being up to the prices. No care in presentation. 48,- for a ridiculously thin and small steak, described as a "beautiful piece" by the waiter, not grilled, almost boiled, and vegetables thrown on the plate, hospital menu style. The veal kidney was OK, the vegetables too. As a starter, a huge marrow bone, but not much taste (although I am suffering from post-covid after-effects). It was the alternative to the casino brasserie next door, but full all the time...

Friendly welcome and attentive service. This Saturday evening, brasserie dishes for four: kidneys, blood sausage and sliced veal: everyone enjoyed it! Small downside about the wine: the Baccouni (mondeuse) wine from Cholet is excellent but we go from 24.- at the estate to almost 90.- The grappa was excellent, but 24.- is a little hot... Règles de base de service pas tenues, personnel parlait très fort entre eux à grande distance, aucune discrétion. Service de la gauche au lieu du côté droit de client à chaque table. Le masque pas mis sur le visage correctement.Les plats restent sur le buffet cinq min avant d’être servi, nos Burgers étaient froids.Où est le chef de service pour gérer l’équipe? Il manque le professionnalisme dans l’exécution, l’attitude, le savoir faire comment se comporter face à des clients pour une maison 5*. Réponse du réceptionniste « je ne peux rien faire pour vous »...Heureusement le Duty Manager a réagi de manière adéquate.

Oui : pour la gastronomie de la marrée il ne faut lésiner ni sur la qualité ni sur le prix. Et quel meilleur endroit que l’écailler du Palace de Lausanne pour déguster un magnifique plateau d’huîtres et de coquilles ? Au menu : des Fines de Claire, des Creuses du Banc d’Arguin, des Papillon, des moules, des crevettes grises et roses, des bulots, des bigorneaux et pour nous spécialement ce soir-là du crabe. Un régal, le tout accompagné d’un excellent Pouilly Fumé puis d’un sublime Sancerre de prix relativement abordables. Service pro et attentionné. Une excellente soirée entre amis pour nous faire oublier la période difficile que nous traversons tous, et en particulier les hôtels et restaurants.

Une fois encore, la vérité se situe entre moyen et très bon, soit bon ! Ambiance brasserie guindée, nous sommes au palace et c'est agréable. Service attentionné et carte intéressante. Cela étant, nous étions venus pour manger des huîtres et nous n'avons pas été déçus. Il faut bien entendu faire abstraction du prix, nous ne sommes pas sur le bassin d'Arcachon, mais le choix est excellent. Une belle parenthèse en cette journée shopping. A (très) bientôt

Le soir de notre arrivée à Lausanne nous avons décidé de manger à la brasserie du palace.Une très bonne table pour ce deuxième restaurant de l'hôtel.Nous avons dîner dans un salon séparé de la brasserie pour cause de covid , ce qui n'a rien gâché bien au contraire.La carte est très variée et les plats sont excellents.Le service est à la parisienne ( les serveurs sont en tabliers)A conseiller

La brasserie du Lausanne Palace est un de mes resto préféré lorsque je vais Lausanne. J’adore les mets de brasserie et j’aime le côté classique de ce resto ainsi que son service impeccable. Cependant lors de mes deux derniers passages, quelle déception au niveau de la qualité de la cuisine. Plusieurs déceptions dont notamment des röstis qui accompagnaient mon plat qui étaient mous, froids et huileux.Y a t’il eu des changements récemment à la Brasserie du Grand chêne?J’y retournerai encore une fois et si je ne retrouve pas le plaisir des mets de brasserie finement préparés je n’y retournerai plus.

The restaurant is integrated into the magnificent Lausanne Palace, with an independent entrance on the street side. The menu is very well stocked, the service is friendly, the setting is carefully designed to create a chic brasserie atmosphere. My dish was tasty and well served... A very pleasant moment! In addition, the hotel has its own parking lot, which doesn't hurt anything in the city center.

Estuvimos allí en la calle del 1 de agosto, que era el día nacional suizo y lo pasamos muy bien. El personal fue muy acogedor y servicial. Mención especial a Thomas, quien nos sugirió buena comida y vinos. Recomiendo encarecidamente este lugar.

The service is good, the place too... I've been coming there for years. However, I was served truly criminal mussels marinière, the worst I have ever eaten in my entire life. That this type of dish is prepared in advance and frozen, even if it loses a lot of the qualities of the mussels, so be it, I can understand. But I refuse to believe they were homemade. And even, among the industrial choices, it is really the worst possible choice. The incipid broth was cri-mi-nel. A real disappointment, especially since Picard supermarkets deliver a much better version for 5-6 times cheaper. The great oak would therefore be well advised to at least obtain supplies from Picard for this type of dish.

Had a lunch menu and it was delicious. Friendly service with a good sense of humour and very attentive. Good choice of the menu and the dessert was excellent as well. Very nice ambient. Will come back again for sure.

Ah quel bonheur ce confinement ! Et bravo à ceux qui restent chez eux.Enfin seul, tout seul ce dimanche midi sur la terrasse de cet établissement pour déguster un plat vaudois typique avec un verre de Chasselat, puis une belle assiette de fromages, et un café, le tout excellent, et pour une addition light.Tout seul, le service au petits soins, aimable, affable, discret. Un pur bonheur égoïste que j'assume et sans se ruiner..."Quand les gros sont maigre, les maigres sont morts..." J'ai donc bien mangé et repoussé une échéance létale.

C’est la troisième fois que nous sommes allés manger dans cet établissement car nous avions beaucoup apprécié leurs moules frites. Malheureusement, cette fois nous avons été déçus. Malgré que le cadre est très agréable et que notre table était très bien placée, nous avons regretté que les moules servies soient aussi petites, voire minuscules et les frites servies étaient tièdes et pas du tout croustillantes. Au vu des prix pratiqués, on s’attendait à mieux. Dommage.....

Este es un restaurante tradicional cuyo menú ha permanecido en gran medida sin cambios durante muchos años, puede estar seguro de encontrar viejos favoritos como el escalope viennoise (ternera empanada) y el minc de veau la zurichoise con r sti. La lista de vinos es relativamente débil en comparación con una selección muy limitada de vinos blancos locales. El servicio es muy bueno. Lo que lo convierte en un cuatro en lugar de un cinco estrellas son los precios que han tenido buenos resultados en los últimos años.

Restaurant at the top!!! Extraordinary staff.... We are used to quality and I can assure you that there is quality in this restaurant the servers take great care of you but really we feel very good a special mention to Mr. Tahar 🙏 👍 who took care of us I recommend and I will come back as often as I can!

Service désagréable... Moules marinières insipides, trop cuites, petites, et de nombreuses étaient restées fermées... Frites molles et qui sentaient fort l'huile...Ooohlala le tout était si décevant...Le seul élément qui nous a rappelés que nous étions dans un "palace", c'est... la facture...Pas du tout envie d'y retourner.

From the courteous but exacting Manager, to the entire service staff (thank you, Flamur, et al), to the incredibly skilled culinary team—everyone is working tirelessly (and with Swiss efficiency) to ensure a perfect guest experience.. Beautifully prepared dishes (esp ultra-fresh seafood) is presented in a comfortable, brasserie setting. Do reward yourself (and someone(s) you like a lot) with a reservation. Reservations suggested. Stylish clothing will suffice.

However, we would like to make some clarifications to some points mentioned in your comment. First of all, we understand your disappointment with our credit card payment policy for amounts less than 20 francs. This policy is intended to cover the high commission fees associated with credit card transactions for small amounts, in this case 4.-- for a coffee shop. However, we offered to charge 20.-- to your credit card and return 16.--. This information is displayed on our front door. Furthermore, we would like to point out that our restaurant, in particular our terrace on the shores of Lake Geneva, is particularly popular during lunch hours, and that despite the crowds, we were more than willing to welcome you for a coffee. You informed us that neighboring restaurants were not taking any coffee customers during this service period, and we have taken this into consideration. Finally, we find it regrettable that there is no platform allowing restaurateurs to rate their customers with stars. In this case, we would also have rated your behavior with a zero for arrogance and aggressiveness, including peddling information to other customers to verify the application of our policy.
