Café des Alpes in Château-d'Oex

I can tell you that as an Italian I am very picky with Italian food 😬 but I can assure you that you can go there with your eyes closed! Restaurant run by a very nice family from the South of Italy. They are warm, very professional, discreet and smiling. It's cooked immediately and I guarantee you'll ask for more, it's so delicious! Oh and don't forget the glass of limoncello or grappa at the end of your meal.

The reception secretary should have a few lessons in politeness and leave her arrogance at home. How dishonest.... Too bad for a place like Château d'Oex that is so welcoming. We will never come back there again.

Terrible service. The hostess shouted at us for offering our dog water! She could have said politely that it wasn't allowed to put the bowl of water on the floor, but she chose to be rude and started yelling at us, totally exalted and disrespectful. It was a rainy winter's evening and she told us to eat outside the restaurant if we wanted to give our pet water. At the end of the meal, she came to our table and told us to leave and never come back. Absolutely disrespectful, incompetent and unbalanced. The food itself is ok, but expensive - paying 22.50 chf for a plate of industrial Spaghetti with tomato sauce is a rip off. If I could I would rate it with no star, because this place deserves not even one.

Very tasty meal of pasta with plenty of lobsters, truffle pasta, pizza or carbonara. Also the desserts like the Mille Feuille Massimo. Service is friendly, unfortunately only the boss can speak English. But it was enough. :) The prices are fair, except for the mozzarella and tomato salad. It's clearly too expensive for what you get. Gladly again.

Very friendly and family restaurant for good pizzas. You can choose each ingredient of your pizza, plus the size. They have hot sauce on each table, which is not too chilly, and we appreciated. The staff are very friendly and accesible. The pizzas were served pretty fast and the prize is very correct. We will definitively repeat when we come back!!

The idea was to have a daily special for 20 francs. Confused explanations from the boss who left one to think, for example; that the focaccia, 9frs, was with the dish of the day. The suggestions on the menu are in fact starters instead of main courses, prices ranging from single to almost double. What we thought was ok at the start turned out to be much too expensive when the bill came, more than 150 francs for 3 people.

Poor service. Dry and flavorless mille-feuille. Flavorless Gellato. I ask for a latte and they serve me a regular coffee with a little shot of milk on the side, telling me that this is what a latte is. First and last time at this place.... ............................. You mention that we had an argument when that is completely false and dishonest of you. we arrived at your establishment to enjoy the atmosphere of the terrace, eat a good dessert and a good coffee, which was quite simply a failure. putting the blame on the customer instead of looking at the service you have to do and totally unacceptable. if you are not able to accept customer criticism you have a problem. your waitress spoke no English and very little French, very difficult to make herself understood. I remind you that one of the official languages ​​of Switzerland is French. (We communicated in French and English). the least you can do is know how to communicate with your customers and above all listen to them you can always invent all kinds of things about us but it is you who must live with your poor service and your lack of self-criticism.

To say that we hesitated. Don't be like us. Go eat at Massimo’s. These pastas are excellent. On our next visit I will try the pinsa. The service is very good, the prices reasonable and the place nice with a pretty terrace for sunny days. Thank you for your welcome.

Magnificent, the welcome, the dishes, the service, very reasonable price. The tagliatelle with boletus and truffles are excellent, no truffle oil as often but many beautiful slices. Nice choice of wines. The staff super helpful. Great experience, worth the detour for sure.

In a magnificent chalet with a view of the mountains you will eat real Italian cuisine, the real flavors of the south. Delicious spaghetti with veracious vongoles and guazzetto with polipetti and mussels that we ate today! Well seasoned like at the seaside in Italy, what joy! The pizzas have a perfect soft dough and are presented on a wooden board. The millefeuille is to die for! The service is excellent, courteous, warm and elegant. Congratulations to the chef and the whole team 👏👏👏 We will come back 😍

Slow and unpleasant service (apologize rather than making excuses). Several dishes on the menu unavailable (even a simple carbo). 40 minutes to successfully serve our table, but in 3 times, even though we ordered the suggestions. The spaghetti aux vangoles was just pasta with a little cooking juice, some confit garlic and a few vangoles. They must also have run out of parsley... And when we finally managed to get the coffees ordered, not only were they not offered as an apology, but there were too many on the bill.

They ran out of two dishes we wanted, huge wait time for pasta dishes. Tasteless vongole pasta. Very limited portion. Wait 10 minutes for the coffee which is also not the right one Addition error. Very average vmt service. So ok there were people there it was the hot air balloon festival but still... Really a shame we won't come back...

Lovely Italian restaurant in a beautiful location. The staff is very professional and kind at the same time. The food was delicious and the price was reasonable and fair. There was a member of the staff who seemed to be the manager or owner, not sure. He was the kindest of all, very polite and welcoming. I recommend this place.

Absolutely delicious Italian restaurant! Good quality and tasty, a trip to Italy! 4 of us came, everyone had a great time. For my part, tagliatelle with truffle, the best I have eaten. Real truffles and without the disgusting flavored oil as is often the case. We'll be back soon, and the service staff are just adorable 🥰

Arrived with 6 including 4 children without reservation. Massimo found us a table. We all ate very well with the charm of the Italian accent and a smile! We will come back, for sure!

Minimum quantities for the price. Quality without more. Quite pretty interior, however the terrace overlooks the rather noisy main road. Not excited at all for more stars, everyone can give another opinion, I'm only basing this on other Italian restaurants (Rialto in Gstaad) for example...

An excellent Italian restaurant... the mussels were excellent and the spaghetti vongole delicious... we were there as a family with 3 children... the service and welcome are exceptional... thank you to the staff... I recommend to 100%

“Italian” service and welcome and excellent cuisine

We spontaneously visited this restaurant after studying the menu. It offers some Italian specialities I hadn‘t heard of before. The food was very delicious and I would love to have all my future pizzas made with their special dough.

Nice italian restaurant with kind staff. Food was quite good, though the carpaccio was slightly warm. Definitely a good place to stop for a bite to eat. Just what annoys me is the menu is a QR code you have to scan.

Eating on the terrace for 2... very good, the spicy pizza oil is super spicy... excellent pizzas, I'm delighted to drip their fresh dough. Very friendly staff but a little intrusive when we are there to have a discussion. Music too loud, I asked the boss to turn down the music. Otherwise super good.

Just dropped in for lunch with a friend last week. The fresh pasta was delicious and really fresh! A hospitable, warm Italian welcome and good service create a great atmosphere and the limoncello also contributes to this.

Cafe des Alpes 'Chez Massimo' is a stylish establishment in the middle of the rural mountain region of the municipality of Château-d'Oex (about 15-minute drive from Gstaad resort). The interior is a mix of traditional and modern with a beautiful glass chandelier suspended from the ceiling. The walls of the restaurant/café are decorated with two huge paintings – one depicting an arrival of Christmas tree on a sledge and another one – a sledge full of merry party goers both set in the 19th century. The main room is of medium size. There is also a bar counter area with a beautiful antique clock from 1920s. We have visited the restaurant out of lunch/dining hours and were there for coffee and tea which was served promptly by an immaculate looking waiter. We were happy with the place and the ambiance.

Very very good Italian restaurant, very good pasta and good risotto. Homemade tiramisu what a shame this one is not served in a glass. Very welcoming and smiling staff and chef. Limoncello offered at the end. I highly recommend.
