Always excellent, the food is very good and the portions are huge. Good service and I would go back there often if I was in Lausanne.

Average Chinese food. When visited was crazy and chaotic. Waiters or owners left you waiting forever to be seated or to order. Food came out briskly. Restaurant could be cleaner. Sticky tables... if you looking for an average Chinese meal then this will do.

I used to go to Xu's very often but the quality of service has deteriorated over time. During my last visit, I asked for vegetable ravioli, and they brought me pork ravioli. Faced with my refusal, I was treated to a moan that was not even concealed. Shortly after, they brought me a new dish of ravioli advertised with vegetables, and what a surprise I had when once in my mouth, I realized that it was pork ravioli mixed with certain vegetable ravioli! The ordeal was not over, because digestion was very problematic for the next 3 days. Total lack of respect. And it's a shame because it was a very good restaurant.

Every time you pass through Lausanne it is an obligatory stop. Very generous and delicious portions. Definitely recommended for both lunch and dinner

What a great find! From the soups to the entree, our food was full of flavor! The won-ton soup has a marvelous base that we had not had anywhere else, and the hot and sour soup was full of mushrooms and fresh vegetables. Try the chicken with basil! We will visit this restaurant again!

Oh what a lovely experience at Chez Xu! The food was delicious, and served in generous portions. The service was quick despite the number of patrons. The atmosphere is also great: simple, authentic, sincere are the adjectives that describe this wonderful restaurant. I will certainly return, and recommend it to friends.

Lunch menu at CHF 17.- with a starter, a main course and a coffee. The staff is smiling and the service is efficient. The food is very good, neither too salty nor too fatty unlike other Chinese restaurants in the area. It is all the more reassuring to see people of Chinese origin coming to eat there.

A little disappointing. Had the roast duck and it was very average with lots of plum sauce on the dish. The Sui Mai was probably the better part of what was ordered. Plating was basic. Touch pricey for what you get.

This Chinese restaurant should not be compared to others that the Chinese literally call "great restaurant". There, these are popular dishes like at home. The dishes are relatively well stocked. No need for me to say more, it's already well rated by many people and my opinion is in the same direction.

I don't understand the rating of over 4 stars at all! Ambience very bad and food inedible. Absolutely not recommended!

Had ordered fried noodles that were served cold, after we pointed this out to the staff, they took the plate away to at least make the noodles a little warmer. But when the plates came back NOTHING had happened, I would even say that they were colder than before. We didn't want to ask for a second warm-up and asked for the bill WITHOUT eating the pasta, and lo and behold the pasta was FULLY CHARGED!!! I have never experienced anything like this and recommend that everyone NOT make the same mistake and eat at this restaurant

Reasonably priced, not a very good Chinese restaurant.

Posting several years later but I ate here regularly when I lived in Lausanne and loved it. I got to dine at Chez Xu again after I lived in China for a few years and still found the food to be delicious and authentic.

The food was good but the service not great, BIG NEGATIVE POINT: at the request of the doggy bag which promised to be plentiful because we had chosen to leave some for the next day's relay we were told yes yes and while all the tables around had theirs, we were told that he didn't understand and threw everything away!! While a large portion of crispy beef and rice was still in the dishes. After making out of our displeasure only a handful of noodle was given to us without a bag and almost thrown on the table. I would like to write to the restaurant to explain this because we felt almost "robbed" since it was a choice to keep a doggy bag for the next day but no restaurant website. Therefore, if the owner wants to contact us via Instagram, he is very happy to do so. Fighting against food waste, I find this really unfortunate. @barbielausanne

Like their Peiking roasted Duck. The portions are big so the owner is very generous and friendly. 4 stars because the fried rice is oily. Recommended if you want Chinese food with a reasonable price.

I give this restaurant a 3 star. There are typical Chinese dishes, and the restaurant is a bit of a mess, lots of noisy discussions and cramped lol but they are nice. You have to tell them when to bring you the dishes and what exactly you want. The quantities are generous and tasty which enhances the note. Keep it up!💜 I recommend their Cantonese rice and the lemon chicken with lemon sauce which is real killer👌

Best opinion on Lausanne getting closer to real cuisine made in China...as in China everything is on the plate, we eat in a crowded room, the atmosphere is also the same as in a real Chinese restaurant in China... super hearty plate, tsing tao beer and we feel like we're there! We had the frog legs and the duck. They pretty tasty but the pancakes that camewith the duck was a bit meh (like rough and felt like it was microwaved). The service was great and the staff were very nice. Will definitely come back.

Genuinely horrid food. Walked in thinking this will be a good option (closer to my hotel) based on the ratings on Maps. But it was nothing short of disappointing on all levels. Dumplings were tasteless with shrimps smelling like bleach. Chicken dish was so salty that I had to leave it less than half finished - and I hate leaving food unfinished. Service was dismal and quite frankly they didn't seem to care when I mentioned that the dish was extremely salty while I was paying up. Terrible experience in general. I'd rather walk across the street and grab a Subway sandwich.

Compared to the Chinese food recommended by Xiaohongshu, I think this place is better. First of all, the attitude is very correct and will not discriminate against people who come to eat alone. It was also the busiest time. The Chinese restaurant recommended by Xiaohongshu directly rejected me, not even giving me a chance to say whether it could be packed or waiting for a while, and then directly talked to the next customer and ignored me. And here we respect first come, first served, and we also respect people who come to eat alone. If there happens to be a seat, you can sit down directly. If there is no seat, the customer will be asked if they can wait or make a reservation. The taste is not bad and the price is very good. A full meal in Switzerland almost costs around 50CHF per person, but here it only costs 28CHF. The spicy spicy soup is very appetizing in this rainy day. It would be nice if the beef fried rice could be served in large and small portions, because this portion is really too large for one person to eat. The experience is great!

Great and lovely food. We had to travel from morges to Lausanne and stopped at this place which is closeby the train station. Absolutely delicious food and the customer service was great. We bought the spicy lamb pot, spicy beef and the dumplings with fried rice. Everything was excellent, little oily but can't beat the taste. Most of the customer chose to sit outside and enjoy the food. Highly recommend and definitely a place if you traveling through Lausanne

I have been to this place once, about 6 months ago. You could smell the burned oil, and see the smoke inside the restaurant at times. We sat at a very bad table because we didn’t have reservations ! While looking at their menu, a guy came out of their kitchen he was wearing a top, with multiple bracelets on his arms and no cap on his head. A he opened the door, you could see the flush of smoke out of the kitchen. Wearing bracelet without proper closing should not be accepted in any kitchen in any country. We ordered 2 dish+an appetizer+2bowls of rice (I was invited on a friend’s treat, so I didn’t want to appear rude). When they served the aubergine dish, it was soaked in oil. There was basically no water. Given the quality of the oil, the temperature at which they were using it (heated to smoking point) I didn’t touch it. The remaining dishes I don’t remember, but I clearly remember the rice bowls being extremely hot while the rice inside was cold! And in the middle you could find the coldest rice which is very telling: the rice is old and heated up in microwave. After the meal was over, we had a plan for going to cinema, but the quality of the serving was so bad, that we spent from 8-11 pm walking around the city. Then, we bought gaseaous water which somehow helped to calm down the stomach and lowers the side effects of a bad food. Both agreed it was a place where you pay for money to get cancer on the long run (only if you are lucky, else you will suffer side effects like us). To be honest there were many people which made me wish people were more supportive of good food (taste+health factors+optimized price for quality) rather than a cheap food that harms one’s health and is not even tasty!

Family run the restaurant. Huge portions maybe even a little too much and really cheap price. It was recommended to us by friends who know the city very well. Tasty food. If you eat outside there is a problem of darkness as there is no lighting. Acceptable service: family a bit chaotic, a waiter wanted to water the plants and accidentally even wet a customer. Payment only with cash, but with the receipt.

Nice staff/good service. Food okay. However for a plain fried rice (a rice to accompany our main dish of beef) was 15 Swiss Francs! I cant believe anywhere would charge this amount 16 euros!!!! For a plate of rice. UNREAL

We waited a long time for fried rice, asked the waiter if he forgot and assured us it‘s ready, waited another 10 minutes to find out they forgot. Then we received a cold something that they must have found in the garbage. Never again.

The dishes produced give people the impression that they are not made with fresh ingredients. At least the oil didn't feel fresh. It smelled like oil that had been fried in a frying pan. This was obvious. I will never eat here again. The one at another branch is better than this one, at least fresher. Diners are not so easy to fool.

Best Chinese restaurant in Lausanne. Typical local food, not Europeanized. I have Japanese friends who have difficulty finding real Chinese cuisine in Japan and this is the first place we go to eat when they come to Lausanne. Chinese-style services so don't judge it if you are not used to it. Incredible value for money, we often get a dish for two and that's more than enough.

THE ONLY CHINESE RESTAURANT THAT STILL RESPECTS THE REAL SWEET SOUR SAUCE... the others serve you a chicken stir-fry with peppers instead. I RECOMMEND this restaurant because the dishes are authentic. It's true there are a lot of people so you better book otherwise order takeaway :-) The restaurant is a victim of its success... Inside there is a lot of noise (so it creates the context) and the staff do their best to serve you. The price is also very affordable. I read previous comments that the staff does not speak French and the hygiene is questionable and that surely there was glutamate everywhere and that the restaurant should set up a "smoking-free" terrace. The best crispy beef I have ever had,hands down. The spicy lamb is amazing also. Some locals rate it's food as among the best Chinese food you can get there and it's easy to see why.

Average cuisine, some dishes perhaps had too much garlic. Low prices compared to the area, but abundant dishes. The air in the room was a bit heavy. Fast and correct service, however they do not accept any type of card, only cash.

THE WORST 21Francs I have EVER spent! I ordered basilic shrimp with rice and LITERALLY it was onions, chillis and shrimp with rice… I ended up eating the rice and the shrimp…. TERRIBLE!!!

I don't understand how this restaurant got 4.3 stars. I don't think this restaurant deserves so many stars. The service was unprofessional, it was rude, when I asked for something they couldn't even advise me. Then he brought us the wrong dish and pretended we ordered it. Food was normal. Not a pleasure and not an insult. If you want to enjoy a nice atmosphere and good food, this restaurant is definitely not the one.

This is not a place to go for a date....but the food... takes you on an absolutely food trip to Sichuan China's region with authentic,delicious, BIG portions. Can't wait to go back.
