Cittadella in Locarno

This restaurant deserves 5 stars. The food is just super fresh! We eat here often and have never had a bad meal. Very friendly staff. Spaghetti Vongole is highly recommended as is all the homemade dessert.

Everything was perfect. The place. The atmosphere. The decor. The service. The dishes. The plates. Wine. Everything goes well. Plus no need to leave the hotel. Top room. Even a coffee machine. Very good. Quiet and good bedding. We forgot a tube of toothpaste. But I can't get my hands on it. Did you find it? See you soon. 😉

Excellent restaurant in the center of Locarno!

I only ate one pizza at this Gault Millau-awarded gourmet restaurant; was still treated with the same level of attention as everyone who enjoyed gourmet cuisine. A huge, very fresh green market salad and a large pizza arrived. It was good, it could have been seasoned a little more creatively with herbs or something, but actually you go to this restaurant to eat something other than pizza. Nevertheless, it can still be pizza, you won't be looked at strangely. I was even treated to a limoncello and the atmosphere is uniquely beautiful. I would go there again just for that reason.

The gnocchi with pumpkin were absolutely delicious, i would very much recommend! Nice atmosphere too and the staff seemed to be very nice as well.

Rather small mussels and a little undercooked and the bouillon was too recipey. The panna cotta with fresh figs was excellent.

The food was great - everything was freshly prepared. The waiters were very attentive (they even brought us mosquito spray) and humorous. The atmosphere outside in the courtyard was also very nice. regular guests speak for themselves!!!!

Very nice and family restaurant. However, I didn't find it very original. The food was very fresh and everything was homemade. The wine was wonderful. We had our Easter dinner there with our families. The table was really big and beautifully set.

Restaurant, the service was not very attentive and did not respond to our wishes, the grilled fish plate was not satisfactory and very dry. Disappointing for a fish restaurant! However, there is a nice selection of wine.

The restaurant in the establishment is well rated and we were not disappointed (speciality: fish, but many other dishes including wood-fired pizzas): daily menu at 24.00 with starter and small, really delicious dessert. And congratulations for the quality of service. The restaurant was full at lunchtime (in January) with many regulars. A very good sign!

In the month of July 2018 when we were around Locarno we wanted to go and eat something good and on the advice of my daughter who had already been there we decided to enter this nice restaurant in the old villages of the old town in Locarno. We were immediately very kindly given a table and then we moved on to ordering. All very good, especially the homemade spinach tortelloni with butter and sage. The grilled fish is also good, I would perhaps suggest something grilled with local fish, given the location near the lake. The desserts were good, especially the pear in red wine, exceptional and a must try. Low prices, excellent service, normal waiting times and clean. We will be back to try other dishes.

Informal evening, very fun also thanks to the staff. Well prepared dinner, the most difficult choice was dessert. We took 4 different ones, we would have liked to taste them all. The must have was the lavender cream.

It's certainly a mistake to order a calzone pizza in a seafood restaurant. Yes, it was a mistake, the pizza was cold inside even on the second attempt. The fact that the calculation was wrong is just a minor matter.

Già dalla carta del menu ridotta all’osso (nessun piatto per chi desidera evitare carne/pesce) e dalla misera impaginazione mi viene il dubbio che sia cambiata la gestione. Rimangono tuttavia i piatti “forti”, ovvero il branzino in crosta di sale e il fritto misto. Noi abbiamo pensato di andare sul sicuro optando per un’insalata verde (due foglie a 11 franchi) e per la frittura; le porzioni, rispetto all’anno scorso si sono assai ridotte. Per dissetarci abbiamo scelto due bicchieri di rosso che la cameriera (evidentemente ai suoi prima giorni di lavoro) ci ha servito in maniera esageratamente parsimoniosa (1/2 decilitro, l’abbiamo fatto notare e si è gentilmente scusata colmando il dovuto).Siccome c’era ancora un posticino ci siamo lasciati tentare dal dessert: un tiramisù che manco alla Lidl osano vendere: biscotti bagnato nell’acqua, quantità di crema al mascarpone in dosi omeopatiche, cantuccini dozzinali con passito da supermercato.

Per Zufall sind wir auf das Restaurant gestossen und wurden um 14 Uhr noch ganz nett und freundlich begrüsst. Der Service war gut und sehr flink. Als Vorspeise der Meeresfrüchtesalat schon sehr gut. Der Hauptgang, beide Fisch, waren hervorragend gekocht. Dazu einen sehr guten Merlot Bianco.Es war ein Vergnüngen.

Pleasant terrace, quiet and sheltered from the sun. The wild garlic and morel gnocchi and the seafood spaghetti were excellent. The ingredients were in good quantity (I'm talking about morels and seafood), it's nice! The suggested glass of wine as an accompaniment was just as good. The servers should be more present and friendly, too bad... The prices are fair, especially considering the quality of the dishes. I recommend this restaurant!

Wir haben eine Nacht im oben liegenden Hotel verbracht. Die Zimmer sind sehr neu renoviert, schön groß und sehr sauber. Frühstück ist auch einfach und gut. Personal ist nett.

There was no dinner in the hotel, but as hotel guests we were allowed to eat at Ristorante Cittadella. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly, non-intrusive but always present service, delicious food, reasonable prices. Gladly again when the Corona problem is solved.

Были вдвоем с другом, заказывали пасту и салат с артишоками, ассорти гриль разных рыб и ньокки из тыквы, после еще ром баба и террин с каштанами на десерт. Все блюда были потрясающие, паста идеально сварена, рыба свежая и отлично пожарена. Рекомендую всем и каждому. С удовольствием вернусь снова.

Meine Eltern und ich waren am Sonntag essen in diesem Restaurant. Der Service erkannte meine Eltern als regelmässige Gäste und wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen. Wir hatten Muscheln, Krustentiere, Fisch und Kalbfleisch. Alles frisch und keine Tiefkühlprodukte. Dazu Wein und Mineralwasser. Ich hatte einen sehr guten Eindruck. Insbesondere, da das Restaurant auch die Vorschriften des BAG aufgrund Corona umsetzt. Gerne komme ich auch wieder. Toll, dass es noch solche Gastronomen gibt und die Einheimischen gerne dort essen gehen.

Mindestens monatlich sind wir Basler im TI und dann immer im Cittadella. Unser Lieblingslokal. Authentisch und wunderschön passend zur Altstadt und historischen Architektur. Service mit Berufsstolz, tolle offene Weine, ganz feines Brot (mit Olivenöl, Sal & Pfeffer), ausgezeichnete Karte, saisonale Gerichte (aktuell Pasta mit Trüffel (reichlich)) ...einfach klasse! Unser Lieblings- & Stammlokal ;-)

Decent starters (soup and octopus), very good service, but the main dishes (spaguethi fruti di mare and grilled fish) were quite tasteless.

Einfach perfekt. Von der Vorspeise, über Hauptgang (hatten Wolfsbarsch) bis zum Dessert. Sehr zu empfehlen. Unbedingt vorher reservieren.

Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht! Vorweg noch: die Portionengrösse sind ganz in Ordnung, wenn man eine Vorspeise geniesst, so muss noch genügend Platz für den Hauptgang vorhanden sein. Wir hatten die Dorade (die wird als ganzen Fisch auf dem Teller serviert) und die Eglifillets (frittiert). Beides sehr lecker und die Eglis hatten nicht einen dicken Mantel rundum und waren nicht fettig. Als Vorspeise gibt es auch grünen Salat, welcher nicht auf der Karte ist.Also wir waren begeistert und haben uns die Adresse gemerkt...parken mit dem Auto könnte noch zur Herausforderung werden, da es nur 2h Parkplätze beschränkter Anzahl gerade in der unmittelbaren Nähe hat.

Excellent service and fish dinner

A great restaurant, with attentive, warm and charming service. The food was excellent for all four guests, I had a fillet with porcini mushrooms... I haven't had a fillet like that for a long time, it literally melted in your mouth, it was so delicious. And then we had a very fine Ticino wine Symphonya 2015 (62.-) but the wine was worth every franc, just like the whole evening, just great. We'll definitely be back next year. Thank you very much for the lovely evening.

Disfrutamos de un marisco generoso y bien preparado en el restaurante Cittadella. Si está dispuesto a caminar un par de cuadras de las principales áreas turísticas pero permanecer dentro del casco histórico de la ciudad, este restaurante ofrece un buen ambiente y deliciosas comidas.

Spontaneous visit,well seated in the 2nd floor.Service was not faultless and needs to be improved.The waitress showed no motivation,she forget our dessert and we had to wait another 30 minutes. The food is quite good.

Auch in der Trattoria, d.h. im Parterre des bekannten Fischrestaurants in der Altstadt kann man ausgezeichnet essen. Ein freundlicher Kellner zeigte uns die eben eingetroffenen, frischen Steinpilze und empfahl sie uns mit Tagliatellen oder Wolfsbarsch. Beides wurde an unserem Tisch probiert und hat begeistert. Auch die hausgemachten Ravioli mit Spinatfüllung und das Erdbeer-Halbgefrorene zum Dessert haben überzeugt. Ein durchwegs erfreulicher Abend den wir sicher wiederholen werden.

Dieses Bijou ist nur einen Steinwurf von der Piazza Grande entfernt, und der Besuch lohnt sich sehr! Sowohl Mittags wie Abends empfehlenswert, unsere Favoriten sind die Pasta allo scoglio oder Spaghetti alle vongole, schlicht der Hammer !!!

Sehr schönes Restaurant mit leckerem ind feinem Essen. Sehr zu empfehlen. Fischliebhaber werden begeistert sein, Rindsfilet war auch sehr fein. Gemüse war sehr gut abgeschmeckt und das Dessert ebenfalls sehr gut. Service war sehr aufmerksam und kompetent. Können dieses Restaurant sehr empfehlen. Vielen Dank für das leckere Essen!

Nach langer Such, in Locarno am Sa. Abend ohne Reservation haben wir im Cittadella ein schönes Plätzchen gefunden und wurden sehr aufmerksam bedient. Spaghetti Vongole und die Fischplatte waren ausgezeichnet, wie auch die Salate vorab (Meerfrüchte und gemischter) kleiner Abstrich beim Wein: nur 2 rote im Offenauschank, der gewählte Ticino 2010 etwas enttäuschend. Insgesamt empfehlenswert

Apart from the pouring of beer on the table (the fault of the glass...) and the mayonnaise "sauce" (for the fried food) recycled from one table to another (and kept outside on a hot and muggy evening August), good food. In conclusion, we are happy not to have touched the mayonnaise (now we understand the reason for that stomach discomfort after a frittomisto dinner at Cittadella in the past) and a little disappointed by the service.

Wij zijn er voor avondeten geweest. Vriendelijk personeel met goede kennis over hun wijnkaart. Verder was de menukaart erg gevarieerd; pasta/pizza, insalata, vlees en vis. Wij zijn voor vlees gegaan en het was heerlijk! Er werd ook zoveel mogelijk rekening gehouden met 1,5 meter afstand houden.

Mi dispiace lasciare questa recensione perché la cena era davvero ottima! Porzioni abbondanti e pesce delizioso. Tuttavia non posso dire lo stesso del servizio. Il cameriere non è stato per niente professionale fin da subito. Con fare scorbutico ha preso il nostro ordine. In seguito, per tutta la durata della cena e a due passi dal nostro tavolo, ha continuato a commentare ed insultare in maniera davvero maleducata gli altri clienti e camerieri. Ciliegina sulla torta: una bella bestemmia....

We enjoyed very large portions of seafood, which were also very good. It is one of the best restaurants with seafood I've tried in Switzerland, although a little too expensive.

Das Cittadella liegt etwas abseits der Flaniermeile im oberen Teil der Altstadt. Das Restaurant ist auf Fische und Meeresfrüchte spezialisiert, welche auch auf exzellente Art zubereitet werden. Die gemischte Fischplatte kann ich nur empfehlen. Wer sich für ein Sorbet zum Dessert entscheidet, der sei darauf hingewiesen dass diese recht grosszügig mit dem passenden Likör verfeinert werden (was aber im Falle meines Traubensorbets und dem zugehörigen Grappa nicht besonders schlimm war ;-) ) Das Personal war freundlich und hat uns gut beraten.Achtung: Das Restaurant ist nicht gleichmässig klimatisiert, je nach dem wo man sitzt kann man bei hohen Temperaturen ganz schön ins Schwitzen kommen. Daher am besten vorgängig erwähnen, wenn man einen klimatisierten Platz wünscht.
